the WindChime - Western restaurant in Bandung, Indonesia
Two words: THE BEST.Absolutely the best fine dining in Bandung. Their food is top notch. We ordered escargot, foie gras, butcher’s wife, nolan sirloin, spaghetti aglio, and we closed it off with hot. Choc. Truffle. Everything they served is AMAZING. Their steak’s sauce is different from anyhing i have tried. The fois grass easily the best in Bandung. Their aglio tasted very expensive in layers. I love this resto vibe as well. Very respectful to the fine dinning lovers. Overall, definitely will come back here more often.
Excellent food and service, would come back again ✨
Lets start with the negatives and end with a positive note.My salad has a tiny snail on it. So, I informed the waitress. She took the leaf with the snail to the kitchen and came back asking, "Are there more snails in the salad? If there are, we can replace the salad for a new one." (Yes, seriously! So, apparently, one snail on the salad is not enough for her to replace the salad or give a discount or something. When I found a tiny bug in Lawrys spinning salad in Chicago, my entire meal was free. Yes, including steaks and lobster tails. I imagine that for an upscale restaurant like windchime, at least a discount of some sort is appropriate. Not, actually asking me to find another snail before willing to replace the contaminated salad. I didnt complain, make a scene or ask for a discount (because I want to know how the restaurant would handle the situation. In the end, I paid the full 1.4jt for the meal for 3 peoplebut I do feel obligated to write a review about this experience. The owner came and apologized a few minutes later, so I am not giving less than 3 stars given other merits of the restaurant. She jokingly referred to the snail as escargot, while that may be accurate, too bad I am not into raw escargot. On the plus side, I ordered butchers wife steak and flat iron steak. The flat iron was a perfect medium rare but the butchers wife (hanger steakwas more on the rare side (the rareness of the hanger steak bothered my wife though). I didnt complain because both tasted tender and quite delicious. I would say that the chef definitely is skilled. The blackpepper and the mushroom sauce was quite standard. I much prefer the sauceless steak servings of one other restaurant in Bandung. Or perhaps something less common but tastier, like blue cheese sauce or red wine sauce. The mushroom tart and the foie gras were very good too! If you like foie gras, you definitely should try the one here. It is not like some other restaurants poor quality foie gras that I tried a few years back. The mushroom tart was great, my son and wife loved them.
The food is top tierAnd the red looking sauce is actually brown its just my camera is bad qualityAnd if your complaining about the interiorShut
All foods ordered here are delicious, love the steak, quality are good, a friendly lady owner put big efforts to accomodates our needs, all staffs are nice and friendly.the place is good for intimate dinner with family and friends. I recommend to make reservation in prior.thanks for really nice experience & wonderful service.
good ambience, good music, classy finesrt food.. and the owners are very nice and kind.. Thank you. Bu Ling and Chef Felix 🙏🏼🤍
Amazing rustic place. Comfy. The food presentation is elegant, simple, and classic. The steak is perfect. Please ask medium rare and you get the juicy-melted-in-your-mouth steak with reasonable price. I order complete set from salad, soup (pumpkin soup 🥰), black angus steak, chocolate truffle and coffee. Reasonable price and good ambience. 🥰😍 Definitely I will go back to this place. For parents...please let the customers enjoy the peaceful place without toddlers screaming or playing drums. Reservation is required.
Been here twice.....never disappointed....always best resto hospitality i ever got in Bandung, authentic western resto hospitality
you got to taste their steak....juicy and fresh....they serve their menu made to order...no worry, no preservatives here, they only serve fresh from the oven
Great experience to eat. Great taste too. Different Escargot but with better taste. Choco lava cake nice to try (minimal 2 orders). The owner so kind and humble. The steak not smelly and taste great.
This is the "dont judge a book by its cover" restaurant. Yes it is a small restaurant run by a family, but the plating of each food is artsy. The ribeye and flat iron is good and cooked to perfection, but the sauce is marvelous. It is a smooth sauce but has a unique mix of taste in it. Their mashed potato have a mild taste but extremely smooth texture, one of the smoothest ive ever tasted. Before you order anything, make sure to ask the speciality of the day. I wouldve ordered a rack of lamb had i known there were a speciality of the day.
This is the first visit to the new establishment after their old place at Sawunggaling was closed down and took them 3 plus years until they find this place. They continue to set homey-rustic kinda atmosphere and agree, why change what works? For amuse bouche, the oyster was fresh but the cheese a bit overpowering and the pumpkin soup was too thin and taste of broth is too dominant rather that the smoky roasted pumpkin. The rib eye was excellently medium rare but the sauce was a bit too bitter almost felt like some burnt flavor was transferred which make the pairing with the meat not as harmonious as it should be. The salmon was a bit too dry but the lemon beurre blanc was on point. The best dish I would say was the mashed potatoes, smooth and silky topped with good cheese. For service, your order will be taken by the owner so she know what shes talking about but the other waiter need more polished; dont know how to open bottle of wine, forgot to change the utensils in between meals and has no idea whats in the food. Overall though good upscale dining experience in a city where you dont have as much choice as in bigger cities.
Great dining experience by Chef Felix. Love the amuse bouche fish belly with black mushroom and soya ginger sauce. Appetizer, Hokkaido scallops is amazing. For main course, my steak Ribeye Angus was perfectly cooked and ends with a Tiramisu cake.Thank you WindChime👍👍
The food was fantastic, cozy ambiance. Recommended!
worst. steak. ever.I know this place because my spouse already made a reservation when we went to Bandung today.First thing first, the entry gate seemed a lil’ bit odd, there’s a very large tree sitting almost in front of the gate.Second thing is the restaurant was actually a regular living home, magically turned into a restaurant, I have to admit they create a great vibes here.Lastly, their menu is so thick, but when were about to open the menu, the waiter came with another “special” menu board telling us those are their recommended menu (which is not included on the menu). Out of 5 special menu, the waiter said the best of the best is “The Butcher’s Wife” steak (395k @ 200gr).I ordered that specific menu hoping we would get the best steak in town. Unfortunately, the steak was terrible, crispy on the outside and very juicy & non-chewable – though it was medium-well.Furthermore, their cappucino was also very disappointing.Sorry I didn’t manage to snap the interior and all other stuffs because I was baby sitting together.
None other than this place on the best steak in Bandung.
I really like the appetizer , wonderful taste
If youre looking for good quality meat, and the legit steak,,this is the place!!👍👍👍
Chef felix and crew shown an extraordinary service during our visit. Good communication during our reservation process and awesome hospitality during our diner.Food was to my liking. Will come back here occasionally to celebrate important moments.
Take a look at these pictures and guess youll know what you can expect.Delicious meal at cozy place is something you should have in this life. Here you will find what you crave for.
The best restaurant in Bandung without a doubt. The food here is not an imitation of western cuisine, its the real deal, beautifully and imaginatively created by Chef Felix, and served with class in peaceful and pleasant surroundings. The wine list is limited, perhaps for obvious reasons, however you can bring your own for a nominal corkage fee. For those looking for a fine western dining experience in Bandung, this is the best choice by far.
Love their thick cut beef steak. Perfectly grilled.Mushroom soup is also nice. But duck confit is a bit too dry. Will come again for sure
This place was a great choice to bring my wife for her birthday. The price for the quality and the presentation is very honest and its good to find this kind of taste in Banding 👍
place is good, relaxing, and easy.but the street lies bit at nowhere....i could say that this is at wrong location...
The most authentic western cuisine restaurant in Bandung! Great ambience and the steaks are delicious. The staff are professional and friendly. Recommend for everyone to try, I will be returning again soon!
Best steak ever. Tried the Kobe beef and it melted in the mouth. Mushroom tart is very good too. Will be back again
Superb food quality. As expected from a real chef
What a pleasant surprise, first was skeptical because the menus choices are very limited, there is like 4 or 5 main courses on the menu, but the quality, innovation and presentation are awesome.Small restaurant so recommended to make a reservation. The only reason I dont give a fifth star is that need some attention to details, such as a place like that shouldnt have a hand written piece of paper announcing the special of the day.Plus would expect the chef to come out and make around of the tablesThe rest TOP
One of the best fine dining restaurant in Bandung which is very rare if not the only one.The bad reviews mostly emphasized on the price, which is may be they dont know what is fine dining. The taste is subjective...for me & my family it was marvelous.I give the spotlight on the Escargots & the Foie gras...💖...and dont expect theyre gonna be cheap, its Fine Dining. 😁If you are trying to find a great fine dining restaurant this is the place.
Yes the food is a little bit expensive, but the quality of their food makes up for it. Might comeback for more experience.A bit setback on their serving time. Kinda wait for quite a long time before they start serving.Ordered medium steak & scallops, it came out undercooked (cold on the inside)
Delicious and beautifully arranged food, attentive waiters, and portion are big.The owner asked me if i need some water when im coughing. That is a great services.
Mango panacotta taste good, my mum tried the mushroom salad which was good as well
Yummy crab salad, escargot, pumpkin soup, salad, Wagyu, molten choco lava cake & sorbet
They used to have really good steaks, but maybe it was just a bad day for them yesterday. It was meant to be for my birthday dinner but the used to be always good mushroom tart was really a failure . Hope it was a one time mistake only. Nonetheless, keep it up Chef Felix!
Good food but the price is a little bit high
The best fine dining by chef Felix...the price is high but you get what you deserve. Must try mushroom tart, foie gras, hot chocolate truffle.
Delicious fine dining for a quite reasonable price, though some might be pricey. Beautiful presentation as well. The entree i ordered was escargot, very tender and flavourful, creamy and lovely finish with delicious garlic bread.Main course was local steak, tenderloin grilled in medium cooked, served with super delicious, smooth cheesy potato gratin on the side and mushroom puree, sauted mushroom, a bit of greens on top with edible flowers. The decorated sauces on the plates pairs well with the meat, i bet they were made from pea puree(green dotsbeetroot (red line one), pumpkin puree (yellow one), and tabasco?I ordered tiramisu as dessert, it was deconstructed and tasted so damn good!!! Not too sweet so suits my taste. Contains baileys and kahlua.I order juice of blackberries, pineapple and lemon if im not mistaken and it was refreshing.
Good food and nice place.. a hidden gem in Bandung..
Best affordable fine dining restaurant in Bandung. They have a nice and cozy atmosphere, with a variety of menu. I can testify that all menu that they served here are very very delicious. Beside their taste, the plate is also artfully decorated with colorful condinement and herbs. The size/portion of the food is also perfect for locals preference, not too small like in other fine dining restaurant. I like their aglio olio the most, which I could confidently said as the best in Bandung. Their duck and trout dishes are also recommended. You should try their dessert also, which are of the highest standard. Really recommend this place
A very nice restaurant with western style food. The furniture and buildng are in a Dutch antique style and the layout is such that light enters from the many windows of the restaurant. The staff and the chef are very friendly and the restaurant itself is in a quiet area away from traffic. I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it.
Was visiting Bandung for work and read about this place. We were served by the chefs recommendations and was given great food. A real and unexpected gourmet dining experience in the heart of Bandung. Would easily recommend it to anybody.
Superb taste.. u dont need chilli sauce to add to ur meal..The chef is a strict person.. especially to employee.. but thats a must thing to do.. if u want to serve the best food to ur customer...Thanks chef Felix..
1. The owners are friendly.2. Nice place & delicious taste.3. If you love good taste and love beauty art, you can go here, and youll love to come here again..4. Very recommended.
Good service by the waitress, the food was delicious. The steak was excellent and both the appetizer & dessert was also delicious. The food decoration was beautiful. We recommend this restaurant for people who likes to eat steak or try a fine dining experience.
The best western and fine dine restaurant in Bandung..👌👍👍👍👍
One of the best fine-dining restaurant in Bandung, good food with affordable price
Whoever owns this place definitely knows what hes doing. Food quality and presentation befits high-end dining option (although I believe this is closer to a bistro). Service staffs were neat and attentive. Place can get kinda warm, the interior is minimalistic.
Visited with a friends, the place is a little bit hidden, cozy place, nice staff, and warm chef. Their mashed potato is really awesome.
The best western restaurant in Bandung,Last Friday afternoon I tried their foods plus dessert, they are awesome, above my expectation for western foods, everything came with nicely decorated presentation, it made me happy from the start, the taste was so good, the Chillean seabass cooked to perfection, the spaghetti (Aglio Olio e Peperoncino with shrimpscooked very well with perfect chewiness , unforgettable experience, They are both highly recommended .. and the dessert(Hot choco truffleit is a must, the chocolate melted in yr mouth with perfect sweetness... Everything at The Wind Chime is worth to try and to enjoy.
My goodness... Delicacy on its best! Chef Felix now reopening The Wind Chime with a new concept and more affordable course
