the ARTIST Restaurant - Restaurant in Sector 1, Romania
Unreal food, amazing service, great wines, the best food in Bucharest. 10/10. Cannot recommend enough
Quite a culinary experience. Design of the food is the most impressive, taste is second, impression is that its special experience however personally I wouldnt go back. It somehow lacks warmth.
Fantastic place with excellent food and good service. We really enjoyed it a lot!
Best restaurant in town!Highly recommend. Hope one day will get a first Michelin Star.
The best fine dining experience in Bucharest.
Enjoyed it very much. The presentation is great! After a week I still remember cucumber sorbets taste. Very unique.
Brilliant - we sat in the back garden, staff was on point, food was exceptional.
Exquisite restaurant, for people who love extraordinary food, blended with art! Delicious food, amazing plate design, surprinsing experience involving more senses than just taste. Great service, special recipes with every taste highlighted in a very fine way! Even though the dishes are a bit small, alltogether you get enough delicious food
an unforgettable experience, the food was superlative, the staff very attentive and prepared. The terrace is also wonderful, but it was closed due to unfavorable weather conditions, I highly recommend this place!
We went to the ARTIST restaurant for a business dinner. It was excellent! The concept of having only a small set of dishes (cold / hot / dessertsand choosing if you want 2,3,..5 courses is great. Everyone can choose how many dishes they want and what they want. + every dish is perfectly presented and very tasty!
This place is not what it used to be. The quality has declined considerably since last time I visited 5 yrs ago. The appetizer was ok, however the main course we ordered (beef steakwas too chewy, the sauce was bland. Ravioli wasn’t much better either. The water was good :)
Central location with a cozy garden where you can enjoy a tasteful menu prepared by Chef Paul Oppenkamp. Impresive presentation, wonderful tastes and excellent service! The recipe for a perfect night out!
We wanted to eat here on a very short notice. They had just reopened and changed menu. If you want to have dinner here it is safest to book in advance. We managed to get a table for lunch instead which is less busy, make sure to come hungry! We had 4-5 dishes with wine pairing in their herbal garden. It was nice to see them come out in the garden and pick some herbs for the cooking. The food itself was amazing and with very good wine pairing. Our waiter was attentive, kind and professional without disturbing too often, which I think is a balance many fine dining restaurants fail to achieve. Our favourite was the chicken liver starter. I would definitely eat here again.
A temple of excellent cuisine - great service and the food was delicious - we took the menu with 4 courses. It’s enough also to take 3 courses if you are not that hungry. A big recommendation if you are in Bucharest!
Most likely one of the couple best restaurants in Romania. Many reviews call it Michelin-level, but its really not. Though, its also about half the price level of a typical 1* restaurant. And the value youre getting here makes it absolutely recommendable. Also, note that service is not included in the bill and they were unable to accept tips in card payment. Which is quite unfortunate with such high proportion of foreign guests. If I may offer some observations to possibly improve:The outside chairs are really only comfortable for 3-4 courses. The staff, while impeccable during every interaction, didnt really observe us and it happened that we ran out of water unnoticed.
I had high expectations coming here, and they managed to exceed them. Incredible attention to detail, unusual food pairings, helpful and informative staff, all for an absolutely honest price. Simply put, the best restaurant Ive eaten at in Bucharest. It should be mandatory to have lunch at the ARTIST while youre in the city! If I could, Id give it 6 stars out of 5!
When you are the only customer in the restaurant it cannot be anything but excellent - especially when they serve special fine cuisine. Congrats to the chef! But on the other hand, the question remains: with such offer what is that does not go well, why was it empty? In any case, The Artist is something that is worth at least a try, when in Bucharest!
Excellent restaurant with top quality dishes in a stylish atmosphere. The starter was already very impressive. If Michelin would accept Michelin Star restaurants in Romania, this restaurant would be close to a star. Highly recommended.
Eating here is always a pleasure and an interesting journey! They offer a 2 to 6 courses menu using local romanian ingredients with an impecable service. It is for a sure one of the best restaurant in Bucharest!
Lovely experience! The food was amazing coupled with the friendliest service in Bucharest. It seems like the menu changes monthly -we will come back then!
Amazing food! Great service! Beautiful garden!
Amazing experience!!The service was excellent! Wine paring is a must!Best sea bass that I had so far!
One of the best restaurants in Bucharest. They have 2-6 courses for your choices. I took 6 because I love too much eating and appreciating chef/artist’s work. At the end Of the meal, I though 4 courses well-selected would be enough.Wine paring is recommended. Nice niche unexposed wineries were there.
Cozy environment - a great place for a date. Beautifully served and delicious food. Staff is very accommodating and gives great recommendations and pairings of wine. 😊If you call in advance, there’s also an option of getting vegan dishes. 🌱
This was the second time we came and the first thing that surprised us was the food menu which changed. The flavours are spot-on, the aspect & presentation is amazing and our overall exprience was perfect!Besides what we ordered, we were also surprised by an appetizer with their special garlic butter and beans paste and a special cured meat. At the end, we were also given chocolate truffles which again, were very good.I really think that the Artist restaurant is capable of achieving -at least- one Michelin star, as the experience isgreat and quite rare in Bucharest! The staff is also well-prepared and very friendly. We will definitely come back!
Delicious food in a historical building with a lovely terrace and garden. Loredana is extremely professional and friendly. The wine pairing is exceptional. Highly recommended and a must have culinary experience in Bucharest.
Perfect location. The staff is very observant and friendly, the Terrasse is lovely and you can eat in the middle of the aromatic herbs if you are the first one there. Plus the food is Michelin level !We recommande 100% and we will be back next time we come to Romania.
Highly recommend this restaurant for a fine dining experience in Bucharest. The food is exquisite and the taste is an awesome experience! The selection of wines is pretty good too.
Really nice place in an old house well renovated and also with a pretty big terrace(from what we could see). Its probably as close as you can get to a Michelin experience in Bucharest (still no oficial Michelin restaurant in 2021 in Bucharest). Great food, even tough the food seems little, its fully packed with calories and its just delicious. Must try it once. The cocktails are also nice, different versions with prosecco.
Wow just back from THE Best restaurant Ive been in Bucharest. The presentation and the explosion of tastes in your mouth from every single dish presented it was sublime. It was just exceptional. I highly recommend to try out The Artist on Calea Victoriei and your taste buds will be exceptional happy that u made the choice on trying this amazing restaurant.
We wanted to try the finest of bucharest’s cuisine for some time, hence I am writing this review at the moment. We oredered their complete menu, except 1, the italian tiramisu is the dish that we skipped. We start the meal by serving their amuse bouche which consists in a classical home made butter with spices and some home made buns of bread. Ok, everbody likes butter, especially with fresh bread, but a little imagination could upgrade your dinning experience. Everbody serves butter lately as an “on the house treat” but if you differentiate off the others, I think it will get better (butter:)We were also served mulled wine, which was spicy and sweet, we liked it, especially the girls. The cold starters, as all the dishes from the menu are originated from a different country.I like the idea of doing some crunch textures over some mushy textures, but I also think that you should not take it as a standard as all the cold starters were based on this principle (crunchy-mushy). We especially liked the cheviche and the tartar. Mint in the tartar is a first time for me and was a hit. The shitake maki didn’t impress me. Japan has bigger cuisine masterpieces to be represented in an international menu than a veggie maki. The cheese platter was interesting, a decent choice of cheese combined with caramelized fruits and raw nuts. Also, a bit too much info for the cheese. For the duck dish we especially loved the platting, the taste was decent but I think a duck deserves to be served with something more decadent than bulgur. The hit of the dinner, for me, was the fish, sea bass with curry sauce, absolutely amazing, the fish was cooked to perfection and the sauce was heavenly reduced to an explosion of thai style spices. The veal was nice, not great. The saganaki dish I did not quite understand why it is included in this style of a restaurant as it is nothing more than a pair of shrimps with some seared feta over it.The desserts were nice.Wine : Sauv B.If you chose “The Artist” you should not miss the Sea Bass dish, the tartar, the cheviche and also, a must try, the chocolate truffles which actually contain truffle. Thank you!
Best restaurant in Bucharest?I dont know. But it is the best restaurant I have visited in Bucharest. You chose from a menu of dishes inspired from around the world. Well - for me that ticks only the box when the taste goes with the ambition. Here at Artist, this is the case. The Romanian wine pairing to go with your meal comes highly recommended from my humble opinion. I had 5 courses and At an extra €30 you are guided through 5 servings of excellent local grapes on paar with french and italian alternatives at a fraction of the price.
Best place to eat in Bucharest, we got a 3 course menu and all the courses were amazing. It was a really great interesting concept with foods from around the world and even though some of the dishes were better than others, they were all perfectly made with a concept in mind. The lemonade we got was really tasty and not to bitter. The value for money is crazy. If you are ever in doubt, go!
The Artist is as close as you can get in România to the one or even two Michelin stars; 2 to 5 course tasting menu with optional local wine paring; great food; kind staff; downtown location; decent prices for what you get;
Absolutely incredible. I would HIGHLY recommend the full spoon tasting menu with the full wine pairing. Ive tried this twice 1+ year apart, and both experiences were - as previously mentioned - ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. I would use words to describe the food, but the food is beyond words. You must come and try it yourself. Chef Oppenheimer is a GENIUS!
An incredible restaurant situated in the center of Bucharest. The meniu is quite small with only a handfull of dishes but those dishes are superb. When you come here be prepared for not only a meal but an entire experince of the senses. The atmosphere is lovley, the service is impecable, the food is amazing and the wines are very good. It is a must for anyone who wants to try a 5 star experience in Bucharest. The parking is somewhat problemating in the area and it is recommended to book a table in advance so as to be sure you get one. Definetly try it and enjoy the ride.
Being a good waiter in such restaurants is difficult, arguably like being a good cook in the kitchen. Mistakes can really affect the guests experience. And sadly the service today was off the level of the food, hence a 4.5* if possible. The tasting menu was a fascinating experience. What a diversity of flavours, textures, colours. Some rather familiar, others mind blowing. I found the oyster, the pumpkin, duck and coffee-flavoured mushrooms incredible. The truffled ganache was disconcerting, and the cucumber sorbet and smoked plum, simply out of this world. Bravo to the whole team and to the chef Paul Oppenkamp who very kindly shared a few words after the meal.Looking forward to the new menu. And all the followings.
Nice place, excellent service, the food was delicious, for this kind of food the prices are more then ok, nice selection of wines, also a lot of free “snacks” like an amus bouche from the chef. Again, the service was excellent.
By far the best restaurant Ive been to in Bucharest. Service and presentation of food impeccable. Imaginative menu. Emphasis on delicate presentation and flavours rather than size of portions.Went for lunch when quiet. Busy for dinner and I understand reservations a must. Not an easy place to find first time, behind sculptured gates near to the museum on Vicoriei.Server Loredana is particularly attentive.Cozy, romantic and suitable for couples.Give this place a try. Pricing $$$.
we had a very nice dinner in this place. It has a quiet courtyard with just a couple tables, ideal if the weather is nice. The defining characteristic of this restaurant are the spoon tasting menus. It is a great opportunity to try as much as you can from their menu. There were plenty of remarkable dishes, specially mains. The sole with truffle was very good. The duck was super tasty. All in all most of the things we tried were good. The service is attentive and nice. They have a pretty good selection of wines to boot.
It was wonderful! Service was excellent and polite. We did the spoon tasting menu, starters, mains and dessert.... An absolute treat. Oh the wine we had was amazing as well. Perfect for a spoil eve or just because. Thank you for the lovely eve.
Great gastronomic experience. Love the small palate cleansers and the way they were served. Could get a Michelin star with a few small adjustments, like table / cutlery setting and attentiveness of the staff.
Wow, can’t believe we had so much food and a whole bottle of wine for £50 pp. this is fine dining, staff services are great and they’re so professional. You think having food in spoon portions won’t be enough but they give you so much. We got the tasting menus and would recommend this because you get a bit of everything and fills you up. The best fine dining experience I’ve had and coming from the UK, the price is just aamZing. Must book in far in advance though
When you go to a two Michelin star you expect to receive a very nice experience and high quality. What we got at this place was even beyond that: the treatment from the stuff was familiar and professional, the food extremely tasty, and in my opinion to a very good price. We came here at a summer night and requested to have to coffee and dessert at the garden and it was no problem, they set a totally new table just for us.I recommend to make a reservation, the house was full in August.
This is hands down one of the best dining experiences in Bucharest. Food was absolutely great--if you are undecided do try the "spoons" tasting, especially the dessert section. Service was great, staff was attentive but by no means intrusive, and the pacing of the dishes was on point.
Fabulous culinary experience in Europe! If you want to have a full experience of tastes I recommend the spoon menus for starters, main and desert. The chef is very creative and is succeeding to concentrate in one spoon an universe of aromas. Each spoon is an art opera because they look great and the taste is a amazing . Take your time between spoons in order to enjoy the food. You will never regret to eat at the Artist while joining the food with a good Romanian wine!
An outstanding experience! Fine dining on European top level. All staff were extremely attentive and polite, the wine pairings were absolutely to the point. The smoked salmon starter had a bit too much acidity and one waiter started to prepare tables for the next day while we were still dining (very discrete though). But this really didn’t matter since everything else was truly excellent. Full score from all of us, see you again next time!Ps.We loved the chairs! Super comfy yet easy on the eye.
Absolutely amazing food. The combination of textures and flavours is out of this world. Prices are very reasonable comparing to the rest of Europe for such an experience. The spoon tasting menu is perfect for getting a taste of all the different offerings the restaurant has to offer and showcases their food perfectly.
Great restaurant, great food, great staff and all at a very reasonable price. No complaints whatsoever, well, maybe just one about the beer selection, very limited, but then again its no big deal. Great selection of local wines, and the 🥄 spoon tasting idea is a wonderful idea. Tried both the starter and dessert. Tremendous stuff.
Excellent food and atmosphere! The staff is impeccable, the au doeuvres are the best Ive had yet, and its generally a whole experience involving a lot smells, tastes and visual enjoyments. Highly recommended! Only minor downside is that it can feel a bit crowded and loud, which slightly detracts from what is otherwise a perfect evening.
