shipwreck Epanomi - Tourist attraction in Katerini, Greece
Great place to swim,
Nice beach to visit with crystal clear water
Nothing special, there is a sea and shipwreck... You can swim there if you want. No charge, park your car anywhere
Beautiful little shipwreck, not very safe for children but still beautiful
This is one of the best beaches ⛱️ around the area and the sand is fine , a large area that is not deep wich is perfect for children.
Very nice beach clean water, if you are in the zone especially of you are a family is one of the places to go .
One of the best beaches.
Perfect place for snorkeling. Best time to visit would be very early in the morning (around 09:00as it can get quite busy in afternoon hours. You will need your own umbrella and coolbox - it is an unorganized beach and hopefully will remain so. Stunning view of mountain Olympus, crystal clear water and a shipwreck to explore with mask. Trully, a hidden gem.
Be careful from rober...
The place is beautiful, the water is clear with a beautiful underwater picture of fish and fish that surround the shipwreck in schools. It is also attractive for those who like diving because it offers that possibility. A small problem is the road because it is mostly sandy, so it is a problem for inexperienced drivers, especially on weekends when the crowds are big, so they can get stuck in the sand, but there is a team to extricate them, so the problem is solved relatively quickly. In any case, this is a place that I always return with joy and a recommendation for everyone to visit.
One of the best spots to visit next to the city of Thessaloniki a must to visit
Great place for a quick swim, very near Thessaloniki. Nice beach and clean waters
Amazing shipwreck that from the outside does not look so appealing but when you dive in seems like you jumped in one of those movies with captain Jack Sparrow and his sunken boat. Definitely recommend!
Amazing beach. The shipwreck is inside the sea not far from the sand. Lots of tourists and nice people. Would definitely go back.
shipwrecks are best seen from the air or when diving. Only a pile of iron can be seen from the beach.
Nice, long wild beach. The shipwreck is not spactacular but is something that is not that often easy accesible. The beach was quite empty but is was Friday, before noon (it was not weekend). Water entrance is sandy (not rocks).
Great experiance with shipwreck i shelow water, in 2 m depth.
The wreck is worth seeing and you can get close enough by car if youre careful, but the tracks change. For example, when we were going we met a beached car in the dunes. The guy said when he went the road was perfectly passable, but on the way back he got beached. Same happened to us. Some locals came and pulled us out for free, but ......
Very lousy roads( sandybut shipwreck is unusual to see in Greece
Its interesting to see a shipwreck but you cant explore much. The road to ot is also very sandy and you might get stuck with your car. Plus there were many people at the beach.
If only some kind of shades.... windy beac. If you dont have 4W car be carefull. Deep send.
Beautiful place to chill and relax. The waters are amazing and the beach is huge.
The imposing shipwreck in Epanomi (Potamos Beach), 30Km from Thessaloniki. This sunken ship was moving dirt many years ago with the purpose of covering a wetland and transforming it to land for farming. Locals insist that St. Antonios saved the wetland as the ship sunk on the day of celebrating St. Antonios name around 1970. Shortly after it was decided to expropriate around 4500 acres and save the wetland which is the habitat of hundreds of species and 2500 plants...
Super cool! You can climb the ship and jump off of it
Nice location for swimming and getting a tan. The road is very sandy and may be difficult for cars to go further unless it’s a 4x4.
Decent beach, noisy bars, and no real way to see the wreck, unfortunately
Beautiful place, clean water
Very good, nice drinks, hot girls, great view. Gianni notice me!
Nice place to enjoy the sea and the sun. A taxi from Thessaloniki is needed to get there.
Quite crowded and only one food truck during september. You ca drive more to the end of peninsua to have more private spots.
Its a wild beach, no cleaning unfortunately
Beautiful and calm for snorkeling in the shallows. A serene location but get there early if you want to snorkel because a lot of fishermen put their lines in near the shipwreck.
Great spot !, Really great for snorkeling
Nice surroundings! I reached the shipwreck in a kombi low car without a problem, at a low pace and with a little bit of attention for the sandy parts to avoid getting stucked. The shipwreck itself its interesting, but the edge of the shore is what I liked most. Pay attention to the rocks in the water towards the shipwreck and enjoy the sealife near it. On the beach exists a minibar for drinks and sandwiches (I guess), reasonable prices, but not so much of an offer. Very good in case of "emergency" though. I recommend to wait until the sunset and take a walk to the edge of the shore. If you are a camping person, there are plenty of space to do this too. Enjoy!
Beautiful place. Good beach. Close to Thessaloniki (about half an hour)
Lovely bay with realy good snorkeling
Fantastic place for snorkeling clear waters and souvlaki, flape and Drinks 10 meters from the wreck. Very closed to Thessaloniki, drive carefully cause its a Sandy road ( in some pieces is soft Sandfrom Potamos Epanomis and direction to Wreck
Nice spot for snorkeling. A lot of sea life on the wreckage. Spot is accessible by car via good dirt road.
Lovely, clean beach and sea, nice to walk all the way to the edge of Akra Epanomi, avoiding the crowded beach bars during summer season, but also a nice place to go swimming yearlong. Cold enough, though, but peaceful. Dont go swimming or for a walk if its winding in the winter. Too cold!
A beautiful sea with clean water and sand at the beach, but you have to be careful and take a vehicle with 4x4 because it is off rode
Nice and clear waters only half an hour from Thessaloniki!
I walked by the beach from Carousel beach bar and I loved the beach walk. I imagined the shipwreck bigger but its interesting to see. I continued walking until the Akra Epanomi the sand cap, it is worth every step, its really beautiful !
The best beach near Thessaloniki, this spot and the Tip are the best places to swim in Epanomi. Dont go if it rained the previous day because the river will make the water muddy and be careful of the strong currents at the Tip.
Nice beach. Easy to get to from Thessaloniki. Lots of locals go...so that must mean something. Drive a lil bit north to get away from the beach bar noise , if you want. Plenty of parking up there.
One od the best places for camping.
The shipwreck is smaller than you might think but the beach is ok and the water is quite nice.
Crowded crowded crowded! In the season terrible. No shade on the beach (no treesnoisy place. Not much of the ship wreck
Beautiful sea view on old wreck
What a location! Water colours like in the caribic ocean, sand dunes like in Holland and perfect temperatures which Greece is famous for. The beach consists of tiny gravel stones and it is not very deep. Just perfect! The shipwreck makes a great background for pictures and also has the feeling of adventure and discovery. It isnt very far to swim from the shore, so many people actually enjoy dipping in there and having a look around. There are several beach bars with sun beds near by. There are also restaurant for those who get easily hungry from the Sea. But if you are like me, the sound of the waves on the shore are the best music to relax. A beach mat and in umbrella is quite enough! And a cooling bag with a bottle of cold water just great. There is a sandy path to get there and a good bit further is also the tip of Thermaikos where the two waters meet. Also a great location!
Serene beach among nature. The sea is so calm here and the stray dogs are all more than friendly. We visited out of season and there was hardly anyone around.
