restaurant Akrame - French restaurant in Hong Kong, Hong Kong
Came here for my birthday years ago , it was good food with good wine pairing
Just noticed it’s closed? Went here about 12 months ago. It was absolutely disappointing.
Nice modern French fine dining. Reasonably priced, great quality and innovative food. Deserve a try!
Very yummy dessert
Lunch set sounded like a steal as it was $280 for 3 courses. But sadly it did not live up to its 1 Michelin star. Amuse bouche: mushroom consume that wasnt very rich in flavour. Just tasted like you had boiled some mushrooms in hot water. Appetizer: better, it was a corn soup with sous vide egg and pop corn. Main: pigeon - tender, but nothing special. The sauce lacked depth. Dessert: very weird. It was white chocolate and mushrooms. The mushrooms were diced and so featured too prominently in the dish. Hints of mushrooms would have complemented the chocolate better than biting into something that is supposed to be sweet but getting something that is slimy. It tasted experimental but unrefined. Oh, there was also a fly in my bread and butter...
Not Michelin Star worthy.First, know that the Monday-Thursday 3 courses Lunch menu at $280 they advertise on the website does not exist. Instead you are offered a 4 courses one at $480...That means 70% extra, but also that you would not leave before 1.5 hours (even though the waiter announced 55 minutes).Second, as mentioned by other, service is quite poor...Finally of course the food: I felt like the Michelin Star is from making instagram worthy pastries (meringue madeleine, charcoal ice cream,...and trying too hard to play on texture for every dish at the expense of the taste. The appetizer was a corn cream with pop corn and caramel for the crunch, the main was veal, (classic but good), the cake was just out of the fridge and too cold to be enjoyable.
This is not a 1 Michelin Star quality restaurant. Far from it and as. A party of 4 we were all extremely disappointed and slightly confused why it has a star.Service was not of the standard. Food was filled with odd flavour combinations which tasted experimental and unfinished - they didn’t work. Also as a “fine dining” restaurant, the food was not presented well. What was also odd what that evening we were the only occupied table in the restaurant and even so, service felt lacking and inattentive. This is by far and away the worst 1 Michelin Star restaurant we have visited ever... we’ve rated some ones low before where it did not live up to expectations but we’ve never been to one where we consistently questioned whether we were even in a supposedly top quality establishment. What was more disappointing was that we came here after visiting a Akrame restaurant for lunch in Shanghai and came away impressed.Avoid.(Chef’s menu @ $1,280 pp)
Tasty food and wonderful service!
Nice experience!
“Ok” experience – have been to much better fine dining elsewhere. Came here for their creative / experimental brunch menu which may have been good in theory but mediocre in execution. The dishes just don’t seem to come together. The starter with tartlets and watermelon was fresh / refreshing and probably the best part of the meal. The tofu and duck dish were both Ok / standard restaurant good. The main course of black and white egg tastes way too egg-y, runny and doesn’t match up to a simple poached or scrambled egg you can get from a standard brunch placeDessert was creative but ok in taste.Overall, an innovative attempt that falls short of expectation.
Excellent food and service A real gem
The word scrumptious simply doesn’t do justice on this flavourful experience. Hightly commended for anyone with a taste for succulent food and outstanding flavours.
It’s below par as a Michelin one star restaurant. The service is super bad given the dirty cup, the wrongly served main course and confusion about credit card. And you don’t feel any passion from the waiters. Food portion is extremely small and taste was just ok. It’s 298 for three courses. Honestly you should just add 200 bucks and go to arbor. It’s a shame.
Generally speaking, it was not a good experience dining here. First and most important of all, the seasoning was too salty for me to even finish some dishes. I know flavoring is subjective, but I am always thought to be a heavy taste person, so I was quite astonished with the unbalanced seasoning. Maybe the chef was absent at that night, so was the sommelier. I hope that we were just unlucky. However, the only waiter was really friendly anyway.
Delicate flavors, fine attention to details, and overall a pleasant dining experience. The portions are petite, and it can take up to 30 minutes between courses. I had the 8-course signature dinner and the entire meal took over three and a half hours. You dont want to miss out on the snail, the lobster, and the cod.
From the simple yet elegant two tone color theme of the decor, to the expression of french flavor in a contemporary approach, subtlety is the word that comes to my mind when I think about Akrame. Fish with almond sauce is minimal and delicate. Cheese in creme brulee style should easily capture the heart of all cheese lovers. Without a doubt this restaurant is a must try in town.
The detail is perfect. Price is otherwise but if you can afford a delicate meal this is the place to go, good service, not too busy, food is surprisingly good. Wont get much from the menu but the detail of the food is brought out in every dish. ie steamed cod .. is served with shredded baked potatoes and mushroom consume (foamed). All super tasty. Would recommend a friend to come
The food was nice, western with a twist of Asian and nicely presented like a picture. The Service was good and we got good private corner. However, the portion was pathetically tiny. We ordered the weekday 3 course lunch set (coffee not included). I am a small eater but even I wasnt half-full after the whole set
It was pretty good, but not wow.
Perfect food - I love it. Only venue needs air conditioning upgrade. Blowing too hard and very uncortable even after asking.
i’ve made reservation to this michelin starred restaurant one week before and they gave my table to other clientI ve made res for 20:00pm and i was at the door at 19:50 and the only thing they are saying that they are very sorry.Because of this restaurant i lost a day in Hong Kong..
Amazing experience!!!!
Great service and amazing food! So Good!
Excellent.
Michelin 1 star? Hell with that! Service appallingly bad! Food couldnt even feed you enough. And the wine pairing - absolute rip off.
Tried the 6 courses menu with wine pairing.Quite good! Some of the flavours are a bit lost at time but the creativity of the kitchen and the quality of the service more than make up for it
Yes, I may have poked my head in this restaurant recently but I have not been in for a meal for quite a while. Black decor served on black plates, well, I can only take that stuff once in a very long while. The food is, well, fusion. Nothing memorable. I cannot remember a single dish that I had here.
One of the best French restaurants in HK. Food made with passion and fantastic service. Dont MISS!!
Unusual matching of flavors, surprisingly good. Young brilliant lady chef.
One of best for food quality n value with service to match. Fine French of course.
Well executed modern french food, attentive service. Good value for money
I was more impressed about the young Chef Akrame Benallal than the restaurant itself. I liked the food I had nevertheless I did not like very much this new wave of menu of 4 or 6 dishes with reduced choice of any change. You normally eat what you do not like to eat and the portions in each plate is so small that you leave the restaurant without any taste in your mouth. But the Chef is a young guy of 34 years that have already about 4 restaurants in Paris and other in Hong Kong, Manilla and Bakou. Really amazing the entrepreneur spirit of his. I said to him he would be the futuro Joel Robouchon within 5 years of so! The ambience is poor, decoration is not the best as well, but service is excellent!
Ive been to the one in Paris and the meal I had there was one of the best meals in my life. A month later I bumped into this hk branch by accident. Made a reservation right away. The dinner there turns out to be a disappointment. Food was only so so, presentation was bad, everything was lacking some of the vivid colors/excitement compared to that of Paris. Very disappointed.
Great food
