parco nazionale di Saiwa Swamp - National park in Sironko, Uganda
Price for internationals as of June 2022 is 22 USD pp. We saw the sitatunga antelopes, crested cranes, colobus monkeys and white beard monkeys (dont know real name). The campsite is very pleasant, we really enjoyed it. Also did the very well marked 7km hike through the woods with 3 observation platforms on the way to look over the swamp.
What a place! I really love the place, its cool and amazing.i love it
Great place. This is the right position on the map. Dont follow the other one.
Loved it
The Tranquility is awesome, good for bird watchers and campers..
Good place to visit and enjoy the Animals in the park. I highly recommend for everyone to visit
Cool place to visit and have fun, privacy enhanced
A great place to relax, the wardens are so welcoming
great for nature walk, the fees are fair an the wardens are fun too
There are camping facilities at fairly affordable rates. And several viewpoints from whence one can stare into the expansive swamp with its multivariate vegetation
The smallest park in Kenya and here you can spot the semi-aquatic Sitatunga, Nature walk, camping and theres also a tree house you definitely should visit this place.
The place ienjoyed the most. There are almost no other travelers,so very quiet. The path is mostly tidy.thebridges arein poor condition(but thats part of the beauty of the place).Out of 4 observation touers-only 2 are in good condition.the staff is nice.A place for those who want to walk in the swamp quietly.and without noise. For children have nothing to do here. There is mostly animal, scenery, and quiet.I recommended...
It was a great school trip.
Saiwa swampThe smallest National Park in Kenya that offers you the luxury of walking while reminiscing the beauty therein. Brags of over 270 species of birds and home the endangered Sitatunga antelope. View points in strategic places along the swamp are a clever way of giving visitors extensive and clear panoramic view of the extensive swamp and its flora and fauna. Your experience is enriched when accompanied by a guide. I recommend Maurice Sinyerere of +254 728 272 339.
This place is cool has , the unique animals called statunga a rare species facing extenction in africa
A tiny park with a good network of walking trails including still passable (barelyboardwalks crossing the swamp. Several rickety observation towers give good views. We had great looks at the sitatunga, but come early. The campground is truely beautiful and seems well maintained. Sadly we didnt have our gear in order to stay. The guidebook is better than most and well worth the 350. Birding is tough in the dense thickets. We saw usual herons, Ross Tutacco, Grey Crowned Crane, Blue headed Caucal.
Nature lover? Then you need to visit the Saiwa swamp!! I love the treetop house. Its everyones dream come to interact with nature. + make sure you see Sitatunga as beautiful as the name.
It was such a nice experience, the nature walk, we missed to see the sitatunga. We got rained on as we were walking in the wetland, but it was a great one, and the ecosystem is good .
Interesting nature walk. Very peaceful environment. However the guide was not very knowledgeable about the plants and animals.
Welcomemly , home of the very rare antelope. Surprisingly my compound overs you a magnificent view of part of the park n you can have a peak of the antelopes , debraza n collubus monkeys not to mention the numerous musical experience of the birds . Its just amazing!!!
Not well maintained, some dangerous passages
Sublime!
Its just like a normal swamp. Nothing to expect. During this walk, I only saw few monkeys in whole swamp. Nothing more. Very disappointed indeed. Also, it cost you US$22 per person. Its not worthy for this simple park. I would suggest you to keep $22. But if you just want to kill you time in Kitale. Well. Its better in the town. Anyway, I wont recommended it at all only if you deeply love trees or swamp.
Best campsite and heritage for sitatunga
Its nice place for tourists for seeing the sitatunga ,grey crown cranes and the rare debrazza monkey
Nice camping and nature walk
Very good place for nature walk and for family outings
Wonderful place, good for hike in natural environment
Was a wonderful cool place
Its a cool and Serene place ...when you want a time of silence and inspired by the natural habitat this is the place to be
Tough terrain, nice environs and vegetation. Perfect views
If theres anything you can do to help conserve these delicate animals in the verge of extinction, kindly do it.Saiwa Swamp National Park: Rippling quiet waters meander beneath the boardwalk amidst rustling reeds and bulrushes, as a glimpse of the sleek Sitatunga. It is dominated by tall bull-rushes and sedges and bordered by open grasslands. It is the smallest national park in Kenya, only 3 km²
Its a good get away from the city life and a good picnicking and nature trail hotspot.
Very conducive and cool place for a picnic!
Lovely place with Sitatunga and monkeys
Nice quiet place to visit. It can be as a school trip, quick visit or a camping trip. There is a camp site and a tree top house to stay in. I really tried getting a good shot of the elusive sitatunga antelope. There are also Colobus monkeys, squirrels and lots of birds amongst other animals but you have to be patient to see them
Very cool, tree top house, view points and the rare sitatunga. There was a camp site, grill to roast meat, camping tents and we were provided for firewood to light camp fire
Lovely place...very cool outdoors
It’s one of the smallest National parks in Kenya, created at around 1970 to protect the endangered species of Sitatunga antelope and other animals. Besides the tranquil of the forest, you can get an adventurous experience from animals like bush backs, Columbus monkeys, and genet cats. Mongoose and Debarazza monkeys.
A good park, great views of the Cherangani Hills and the Mount Elgon.Good for kids and family weekend outing.Get to see a variety of bird species starting with the crane, weaver birds, ibis, stork and many more.Great nature trails, indigenous trees making a modified equatorial rainforest with thick undergrowth. If youre lucky enough get a site of an African waterbuck, antelope (locally known as sitatunga).Lodges and tree top viewing is available.
Fantastic park, the smallest in Kenya, where you get to easily see one of the rarest antelope of the African continent (there are very few remaining in the wild).Highly recommended visit!
Saiwa swamp, home of the debrazza monkey and the rate sitatunga, marsh antelope... A very serene place and awesome to go discover yourself. Great guides, its teeming with birdlife, a lot of trees and shrubs and a trail thatll make you not want to leave.
Beautiful
Its a very calm place full of flora and fauna. The nature trail is awesome. Its worth a visit.
good habitat for the rare antelope there are also ideal hiking spots was there six years ago
Very calm and relaxing place, good for thinking and unwinding... nice nature trail. Luckily we saw 2 sitatungas male and female. Very lucky!
Theres one species of antelope called Sitatunga that is only found at Saiwa Swamp National Park
This is a place endowed with natural flora and fauna in their original habitat. The rare Sitatunga antelope is found here. Additionally, there is a collection of genetically "challenged" domestic animals such as a lame sheep, one with three legs and so on.The park offers boating sport and camping facilities. Accomodation is also available.
Wonderful. How great and lovely is kenya. God bless
Just a good place to chill out and enjoy nature
