The Sangiliyan statue was built 1974 at Muthirai junction Nallur and declared open by then Jaffna Mayor Alfred Duraiappah. In this junction you can go to Nallur temple, A9 Road, Kalviyankadu, Thirunelveli cities.

The King Sangilian statue is erected just near Kiddu Park. He was the last Tamil king of Jaffna kingdom who fought against the invaders who came from outside of Sri Lanka (then Ceylon). He was betrayed by his own people and captured by the invaders. If you want to know the meaning of the word "betrayel" , please ask any Tamil the will explain it very well.
