Balqa St., Madaba, Jordan, As Salt
Museum in As Salt, Jordan
The museum itself is wonderful and theres a lot of rich history to discover. However beware of ticket sellers accompanying you as impromptu guides and then forcing you to give them tips.
You can enter for free with Jordan Pass. Not much to see, just a few pieces of mosaic left here and there.
A bit too insist in the tip
Amazing site
Many things to see
Extremely not much to see here. Looks like a back street builders merchants.
Not bad for being in a small country like Jordan. Mosaics from mid to late 1st melinium. There was no entry fee. But may be its not the case always, because there is a ticket office.
Nice place to visit
Mosaics are nice but when we come to museum we enjoy tour alone. At entrance one employee followed us and made me nervous. I could hardly wait to finish the visit. He was trying to say something in bad English. To enter one part of the museum we had to skip the boxes. After the tour he asked tip.It isn’t ok. We paid tickets, didn’t ask for guiding, he were following us and after that to ask the money is rude. If Madaba wants to be touristic city , it must be stopped
The place is more like a house, where different rooms have mosaic floors. I DO NOT recommend it. You will be welcomed by a person who knows very little English and the only understandable words are: original and 6th century.
Great toilet - better than a hole
Had a really nice guide take us around for no extra charge (and knew we had no cash left so was not expecting tip). Fascinating site - lovely mosaics - worth seeing.
I don’t really know how to describe it. Nice mosaic but it seemed like it was at someone’s house. Also there was trash everywhere.
The place is amazing with history and mosaic from different places of Madaba.Entrance fees is cheap 0.25 JOD for Jordanians and 3 JOD for tourists and tickets include visiting 4 locations with no extra fees. The place needs some attention and guidance to enjoy the tour more.
Greatful amazing experience
Fantastic place for your kids
Good and small museum in madaba.. just 10 minutes walk from the city center of madaba. There are not much to see there. Many mosaic arts also can see. Inside there is a small showroom to see few of historical stuff. If you go madaba its good to go there too
There is a very nice guide, his name is Mahmoud, he really loves his job!
Historical museum of Madaba history، jordan pass working therer
Museum tucked away in a small neighborhood. Once inside, the proprietor gave us a guided tour in ancient churches, and Roman temples. Unbelievable mosaics in differing condition.
interesting place
This quaint museum in Madaba was really significant to me. It contains a few small Byzantine mozaics. Most importantly however it contains numerous displays containing artefacts found in Neolithic and early-mid Bronze Age archaeological sites around Madaba. Well worth the visit for ancient history buffs.
❤️
Its very nice place my office is next to it
REMINDS u about the ROMANS BEING IN JORDAN....VERY LONG AGO...NICE VIEWS....AND DESIGNS...AND MORE♡♡♡
Very impressive place!
great
This place contains a lot of elements from the early 7th and 8th centuries. It was good to spend half an hour here. Guide was extremely helpful and took a lot of initiative to help us see right things.Must visit with kids
Theres more to Jordan than just Petra. Madaba is proof of that!
A nice little museum, tucked away, downhill from St Johns Church. Some mosaics, folklore and archaeological artifacts.
nice historical place, you can attend to learn more about jordanian and madaba city history
Museums in medaba should be valued a lot more. Their care is insufficient.
Nice to see if you have Jordan pass but I think I would regret paying for it. Lazy staff (waited quite some minutes for a man to unlock doorsand a bit dated museum. On the other hand, everything is in english and it is quite informative.
Hidden treasures.. Will be a good idea to have a audio guide.. Though an employee took me around and I gave her a nominal tip
One of the richest places in Byzantium mosaics, from the 5th to 8th centuries. Folks are very nice and helpful.
Good
Its a bit lost in neighbourhood, mostly empty, with quite mediocre selection of antiques
Not easy to find , entrance is in between buildings, guided tour.
Several residences inside the old quarter of Madaba joined to form the Madaba Archaeological Museum which houses mosaics from Madaba and its governorate at large. The museum is tucked away in a narrow alley, so it is not easy to find at first. The rooms host artifacts from several locations across the region covering all main historical periods including the Iron Age, Roman, Byzantine and Umayyad. This museum showcases a good collection of Moabite and Ammonite findings. The entry fee to this often overlooked museum is included in the combined ticket (3 JODthat also covers Madabas Archaeological Park as well as the Church of the Apostles. At the time of writing, there were plans to open a new archaeological museum closer to the center of Madaba by the Burnt Palace. Therefore, the function of this older museum might change.
Nice displayed items and well organized, but unfortunately, there is only one Un noticeable sign "Museum" off the road.
Really good even now
Decent museum. Nothing great though
