كشرى ابو طارق - Koshari restaurant in Cairo, Egypt
كشرى ابو طارق in Cairo
Description
Privilege
Its an experience to go to the most well known kushari restaurant. They also gave a little show serving the food for for a tip. But its so busy and every one was waiting to sit in our seats so we had to eat so fast! I think we were inside for 10 minutes 😅 Better to eat somewhere else in peace 😅 The kushari dish is probably very good prepared, it tasted pretty good. But its not my cup of tea with no vegetables.Btw its cheap and vegetarian.
MoreAmazing service, quick to attend and help with whats going on for a tourist! Yummy clean fresh food and great prices! Thank you
MoreA restaurant that specializes in just one dish and does it to perfection. The place is clean, the service is fast, and for westerners the price is ridiculous. The Koshary (a mix of rice, pasta, lentils, chickpeas, fried onion, and tomato juiceis tasty and filling.
MoreGreat confort food. Amazing taste 👌
The most important thing that restaurants should have is consistency, and Koshary Abu Tarek is definitely consistently good! Classic Egyptian Koshary, clean and fast service.
MoreAmazing koshary!! Friendly staff. Quick service. Clean establishment. Especially friendly to foreigners and will help you prepare the sauces on the table! It was in our list to see in Cairo and would highly recommend it!
MoreThis is a must if you are in Cairo. Koshary is a traditional dish in Egypt and everyone loves it!A traditional Egyptian staple, mixing pasta, rice and brown lentils, and topped with a zesty tomato sauce, garlic vinegar and garnished with chickpeas and crispy fried onions.Right at this place they do it and they even have a Guinness World Record!
More10/10 experience here! There is a review for the tourist that goes to places and like to know a little bit before you go!I am a well experienced solo female traveler (my partner was with me here thoughand this is the best food I have ever eaten. Seriously. Not what I was expecting. We walked in and they spoke English and had us take a seat upstairs. We ordered a medium between my partner and I, 2 beverages and they had the food out within minutes! Our server mixed the dish for us and it was beautiful to watch. They did add some chip like things to the dish which was an extra charge but it was so good who cares! The building is stunning and looked like a fancy restaurant. We knew we wanted dessert so we ordered rice pudding but our server brought every dessert they have for us to explain what each item is so we could pick. We got the rice pudding as well as another traditional Arabic dish and they were AMAZING.We are for sure going back for lunch and dinner. For the 2 drinks, chips, 1 medium, and two deserts it was L.E 89 plus tip for 100 total!1 medium was more than enough for both of us.Also they do accept card:)
MoreAmazing place. The food (koshariis simply delicious! And its insanely cheap. Our waiter was friendly, professional and made really an effort for us to enjoy our meal (helping us mixing it the right way).We will come again.
MoreExcellent, fresh and tasty food! Very friendly and efficient staff! You pay local prices even as a tourist!
More. Humble beginnings! I met the owner who was sitting outside the restaurant. We sat and chatted for a minute and took a photo. His cart with which he started selling Koshari, decades ago, sits right by the restaurant as a reminder of his early beginnings. The restaurant has multiple floors for seating and does a roaring take-away business. We enjoyed our Koshari and the rice pudding. A server will prepare (mixthe koshari for you on your table Service is fast and friendly. English is not widely spoken by the staff. Give this place a shot … you will enjoy it and do take a minute to observe the servers behind the high counter by the entrance. They might show off their serving skills.
MoreYeah top notch. In and out quickly. What’s not to like. My first time trying it. The guy walked us through it and was very helpful! I loved it. Will definitely come here and eat lots of koshary when I come back to Egypt. Highly recommend! We had not dumped the sauce on yet in the photo. Hence why it doesn’t look complete!
MoreThis place only serves one dish, koshary. Its a quick easy comfort national dish of Egypt. The dish is composed of a few different pastas, rice, lentils, chickpeas, lemon juice, fried onions and garnished with tomato sauce, garlic and vinegar and hot sauce if youd like. 30 Egyptian pounds per dish so super affordable and very filling. The gentleman bussing the tables downstairs appeared to be like a manager and was very kind to explain the dish and whats in it to us.
MoreWhat else is there to say other than this so the original abo Tarek koshari spot. The rest are replicas since they have no trade mark. It’s a great spot for authentic koshari. The servers do their best to give the tourists a unique experience and it’s in downtown Cairo so you get to visit old Cairo while you are it.It did become a touristic hub, obviously you can tell by the sheer number of the reviews. But that doesn’t take away from the authenticity and deliciousness.
MoreFreat koshary must tast. 4 levels of dinning
One of the best Koshari places in Cairo, the restaurant is spacious with 4 packed floors. Waiters are attentive and running around all the time to serve everyone. Food was great as usual and would love to go back again.
MoreBest Koshari in the town, really traditional Egyptian koshari you should never miss it if you are in Cairo, They have very nice desert Roz Bilaban and Umm Ali after you finish your meal, (Mr.Ehabis really kind and he is really very welcoming us and he mixed for us the koshari in the perfect way I really would like to thank you for the amazing experience we had here !
MoreA great place to first experience koshari! The food was tasty and well priced. It was crowded, but a good sign of a favourite restaurant, rather than being overwhelming. The staff were very friendly and happy to explain the meal and process to a tourist. Recommend it.
MoreExtremely tasty, cheap and with great service
One of the best Koshari I’ve ever had, the food was amazing, the staff is super friendly even though it’s extremely crowded, but they would find a couple of minutes for you.Their spicy sauce is extremely delicious for anyone who likes spicy.
MoreThe best restaurant for the Kushari Egypts national dish and a widely popular street food. A traditional Egyptian staple, mixing pasta, rice and brown lentils, and topped with a zesty tomato sauce, garlic vinegar and garnished with chickpeas and crispy fried onions which looks like cut nails. It is often served with sprinklings of garlic juice; garlic vinegar and hot sauce are optional. The service was fast and welcoming.
MoreI ordered from this place.1. The man from the callcenter wasn’t in a place where he could hear me well. It was a noisy place.2. The man raised his voice at me.3. He spoke to me in a rude and disrespectful way.The food is usually good but the staff is hideous. I don’t recommend ordering from there.
MoreSo delicious. This place offers one type of food which is the Koshary but excels in the making of it. The meal was cooked to perfection and the hosts were so welcoming and kind. Prices were cheap and affordable. Highly recommended.
MoreVery yummy indeed. It is the best Koshary restaurant in Cairo, However it is very crowded and you may wait sometime till they find a table is empty for you. You may expect yo share table with others due to lack of empty tables
MoreFOOD ⭐⭐⭐⭐ATMOSPHERE ⭐⭐⭐STAFF ⭐⭐⭐PRICE⭐⭐Very famous for its traditional (cusharialongside its sauces.. To end the heavy meal with yoghurt rice dessert witch is light and delicious.. Lately overprice drived customers complains.
MoreNo frills, just very tasty koshari. I was uncertain whether I would enjoy it very much but its extremely moreish. With there, frankly, not being a great many good options in Cairo, I came back here three times for a cheap and yummy meal.
MoreVery local place that only served one dish, Koshari. You can choose between a small, medium or large size. You can dine in upstair or take away, which is done in less than a minute in my experience. Also its very affordable and very filling.
MoreThe hot spot for an Egyptian take on an Indian dish called koshary. No menu, they just specialize in koshary. If you are a tourist (like methe waiter will show you how to mix the sauces up. Its very filling and one bowl only costs 30 Egyptian pounds. Try to get up to the second or third floor if you can, as the atmosphere is better.
MoreOne of the best Koshari in CairoIt tastes good, a nice dish, very nice prices, suitable and a nice clean place
MoreYou know a place is unique when a place proudly proclaims that it has no other branches to ensure its loyal patrons dont fall prey to imitators. Welcome to Abu Tarek, the establishment that has been synonymous with Egypts national dish --, koshary -- for generations. It serves up the savoury mishmash of rice, assorted pasta, chickpeas and lentils at a feverish pace.Orders are accompanied with healthy servings of tomato sauce, chilli sauce and vinegar. There are no variations, none are needed. The people who come here know what they want and will not settle for anything else.Small order is 15, medium 25 and large is 30. Recommended.
MoreMy favorite Egyptian meal ever 😍👌The best place to eat Koshary at in EgyptThe service is very good and people there are niceThe place itself is massive for a Koshary restaurant, and you can get both the simple and fancy vibesThe prices are okay for a Koshary plate
MoreFood was great, highly recommend this place to try the famous Koshary which is also super cheap
MoreKoshary here is amazing. I love it. BUT you should try the rice pudding here!!!Rice pudding was truly beyond my expectation. It was so yummy that I could not put my spoon down... omg😋
MoreHighly recommended, big portion full of flavour and freshA busy place lovated in one of old cairos famouse streets...no wonder it is recommended by each and every person from different backgroundsBarvo!
MoreThe famous KOSHARI shop Abo tarek one of the most famous in Egypt, best KOSHARI ever the original taste of authentic Egyptian KOSHARI, but the rice pudding is not suggested because there are many other places where you can get much better rice pudding in there
MoreMy Egyptian friend said that this is the real deal and it was awesome! My favorite part was the fried onions though😍
MoreAmazing food and great service! It is definitely a MUST when you are visiting Cairo!
MoreThe most amazing local restaurant to have Koshary, a traditional dish from Egypt, friendly staff 100% recommended
MoreVery large place, just go upstairs. Good food. A bit overpriced and no extras :(
Very filling delicious kushary. We tried the deluxe kushary dish which consist of rice, lentils, pasta and chick peas. Garnished with fried onions .Tomato sauce and mixed spices added on top. Also we tried rice pudding which was nice .The service is excellentThe price is acceptable for this dishVery busy place with one small entrance
MoreVery filling vegetarian dish - Koshary.Only one restroom so expect to queue. No wifi available. A popular cafe as was written in some travel guide book.
MoreA great place to try Egypt’s national dish - Koshari. The restaurant is well known in Cairo for this one dish and it was busy when we got there. The staff are very friendly and made the experience memorable and the Koshari was certainly one of the best we’ve tried.
MoreOne of the restaurants that I gave second chance, and I got surprised and happy with the second experience..Very tasty Koshary 👌🏼.Loved the packing much, as I took it away.Everything was so perfect, the spicy sauce was awesome and tasty, also ElDakka 👌🏼.The restaurant few years ago was clean and service was good, but I didn’t liked the food then. And it caused me stomach pain. But now very different. Thank you 🙏🏼
MoreBest place to try koshari, a unique Egyptian dish popular among locals.Fast casual with a vivid atmosphere.
MoreAmazing traditional Egyptian dish of Koshari. Great food and very nice waiters. You can either get the koshari to go or have it over there. The waiters also showed me the amount of vinegar and hot sauce to put on my plate.
MoreAbu TarekA very famous and popular local joint for Egyptian spaghetti and beans. They get enough tourists and many Egyptians speak a little English, you wont have any problems. There is no menu. They only serve 1 dish. Your only choice will be water or cola. It is not a gourmet meal, but it is a great experience and very inexpensive.
MoreHands down the best Koshari in Egypt. Very clean dining area. The staff is super friendly and spoke good English. If you like spicy, you have to try their special spicy red sauce. It was to die for. I loved it so much I bought To-ago Containers of it🤣😍😋 I Will be back….❤️
More25 EP for the smallest bowl with something to drink! Pay once you order!Tastes great, super super super fast!Super crowded? They have 3 or 4 floors for dining, also you wont wait long, usually! They serve sweets after Kushari, I didnt try!
MoreWould never stop eating Koshary here 👌🏻👌🏻😍 the best ever. Whatever would be your mix of add-ons, it will be the best koshary experience you will ever have. And of course the sweet dish (roz b laban - milky riceis a must to close off with.
