The Ilagan Japanese Tunnel is a war tunnel that was part of a military base built by the Japanese government as headquarters for its soldiers during World War II. It is found in barangay Santo Tomas in Ilagan City in the province of Isabela. It is one of the few remaining tunnels in the province. It measures about forty (40meters in length and a bit over three (3meters in width and height. The real size of the tunnel, however, has yet to be determined as the site has yet to be fully checked and explored.

It’s a very short tour yet impressive to have a piece of history in a small province of Ilagan. Yes, some items are replicas but what can one expect if the artifacts were made of pure gold. There are genuine pieces as well. Well kept gardens. Kind staff. Be respectful and no photography or video as posted.

Ilagan Japanese Tunnel is a war tunnel that was used for defense, as a prison, garrison and a headquarter by the Japanese government and military officials. Its a man-made tunnel created by the locals through force labor. This tunnel is one of the tourist destinations situated in Ilagan City, Isabela. The area is clean and well maintained. Japanese costumes can be rented.

Best place to be, to learn the sad lesson of World War II. Offering prayers to those who have suffered in this place may they find peace and forgiveness.

Japanese tunnel one of the historical places that you guys need to visit, the place was exquisitely amazing, the tunnel is fabulous although not that too long to walk but how the tunnel itself is amazing, place and view around the tunnel is relaxing, sitting with the benches in the area can remove stress white viewing the good environment. Im so flattered that someone take caring the area and knows the history., two thumps up to the place

Not so historical as everything are just replicas. The lessons or history one might learn from experiencing the Japanese tunnel can be learned practically online. Went there twice because it features wearing Japanese kimonos which are for rent but it was not available for the TWO TIMES we went there. They did not even put up a notice on their page that such activities are suspended. Complete waste of time.

Great that they are preserving this historical site. Educational and they added entertainment such as Torii Gates, parks, food place and rental of Japanese outfit.

this was used by the Japanese soldiers during WW2 as a passage and hideout it runs from Camunatan as the entrance to Isabela National High School to St. Ferdinand to Malalam and was used by Japaneses for prison chambers in which torture chamber as one of them and in as much as relics are still intact it was preserved and converted into a tourist attraction both locally and from other nearby towns and provinces it is a historical place which was officially open for public 2016.

Its fun being there.

This is one of the tourist spot in Isabela. I recommend you all to visit this. The best!

Easy to find on waze. Interesting to learn the history behind these man-made tunnels made by Filipino prisoners during the Japanese occupation. Photos are not allowed inside the tunnel. Very nice and accommodating staff.

Awesome treehouses. Venue should update social media account for schedules. Unfortunately, they closed the place when we visited because of the scheduled "palarong pambansa." Need to revisit the place.

Its a good place to satisfy your curiosity. Only the tunnel itself makes a visit worth it; so, be sure to see it. 1 to 2 hours visit or stay is sufficient.

Very interesting tourist place because of its histocal theme. A simple and small place tho. But the food was at the food court was all japanese, it takes good. You can also rent a kimono dress and take wonderful pictures.

Its an important part the history of the Philippines that shouldnt be forgotten. That said, it was nice side trip of my wife and myselfs trip through the cagayan valley. The amount of time spent here depends on each individual. If you take your time and leasurely past your time to take in the beauty of the scenary you could spend several hours here, as we did. A must, is to tryout the Japanese food with a philipino twist at the small restaurant on site.

Worth visiting...

Visiting the tunnel was worthwhile and seeing the artifacts inside with their realistic sound effects echoing through the walls of the cave gave me chills. Its worth a visit.

The tunnel was quite small/short but very informative,they allow rent of kimono too.

Nice place but small driveway

Youll experience to see how the Japanese made a man hole where they hide during their times. It is located near the Ilagan Chinese Cemetery at Santo Thomas, Centro poblacion at the back of West Central Elementary School.

Although the tunnel was short, it was an interesting experience.What I like about the place is the garden they made around the tunnel. You can even rent a kimono for boys and girls, great for filming about Japan/Japanese for students.

This park showcases a small portion of the tunnel made by the Japanese during World War II. The narration of their guide may be imprecise specially on the seizure of the golden Buddha. No one really knows what happened then but to pronounce a part of history as gospel truth is misleading. History may be ambiguous but it is best to present the sides of the story rather than reducing it to short narrative that is lacking in depth.Also, the kimono rental and picture taking does not go well with the theme of a war tunnel.
