il Baretto Rome - Bistro in Vatican City, Vatican City
They have good products but i dont know what the point of the staff being so rude. Just asking how many flavour can we get in the gelato she just threw the board on the desk. The most ridiculous thing is she smile so friendly to her manager and change the face immediately when serving us lol
Regular coffee. The ice cream is pretty fine. But the service was chaotic a little bit and they don’t let you to eat your ice cream or drink your coffee at the outside table that has a view to the Basilica.
We chose the sandwich, croissant and coffee. Everything was really tasty. The organization of the cafe seems to be quite chaotic, but finally we menage to get everything we want :)
great cafefantastic ice cream, one of the best in Rome
They speak Italian for the foreigners tourist. Hehehe
Extremely rude waiters, apparently you’re not allowed to sit outside while eating their pizza. Instead of saying it politely we were yelled at in front of other customers. If you value a good service say away!
I dont think i have seen more rude service in my life :D Blonde hair waitress was extremely rude the whole time. Food is also not the best, so deffinetely avoid 😊
Paying for the use of the toilets? I only saw this in the poorest countries in the world.
Amazing aperitivo expirience!Strongly reccomend if your legs hurt after a long day in the vatican city🤭Was also very cheap!
Staff was cheerful and the pizza, coffee and pastries were tasty! Great place to stop right before the Vatican.
I wasnt thrilled with ice cream. They melted in my hands as soon as I stepped outside. It seems they were frozen incorrectly. The dark chocolate ice cream tasted good. Nice service.
I had a fantastic experience at il Baretto! Roby the server went above and beyond with my order. It was pleasant to meet a local Roman when in Rome. His recommendations were excellent. Hands down this is the best spot for a bite next to St Peter’s!
This place is definitely not the greatest for pizza (NOTE: We didn’t try the pasta or any other main entree). The prices are high compared to most of Rome and the quality isn’t so great. The only plus side is that the pizza is big and heavy, so I guess you get you money’s worth in terms of quantity.Having said that, the quality was bad. We ordered the vegetarian, Margherita and the ham pizza. All fell flat. If you want pizza, there is a spot called Pizzeria Vecchio Borgo, 1-2 min walk away from this place.
I had the delight of lunching here during to my trip to Rome and I would gladly return! Roberto was very kind and conversational making the meal that much more enjoyable! I had amatriciana rigatoni and it was some of the best pasta I had during my trip. An all around excellent experience!
Friendly service, great food, great selection of ice cream, pizza, pasta, sandwiches!
A large group of us stopped for some light bites and drinks and our waiter Roberto was really accommodating and hospitable and we had great fun with him! The food and drinks were also delicious and we really enjoyed our evening.
Good for a quick lunch! Nice but stressful environment
ITS A TOURIST TRAP! Avoid this place. Bad food. Bad coffee. Bad service. Super expensive.
Roberto took great care of me when I stayed here to eat while my family went to go tour.
Very good food. We stopped for breakfast on our way to the Vatican. Every one in our group enjoyed their meal and espresso. Friendly service as well.
Great afternoon with Roberto! Wine and food were fabulous!! Stop in for wine or dessert, they will not disappoint
Gelato was nice but customer service needs work. The individual serving is probably the rudest person I encountered in Rome to my and my partner as well as every other person when sitting at the table and seeing it happen.
Roberto was a wonderful waiter! He made our trip lovely and fun.
Great gelato with lots of flavors to choose from.
Drinks are ok tough a bit overpriced but you can expect that in Rome. Staff and service were terrible tough: 4 persons chatting at the counter and nobody botgered to help us. When were about to get our drinks a woman who served us seemed annoyed and unhappy that we "forced" her to work.
Very good Aperol Spritz and great Ice-cream!
On a recent trip to Rome on May 30, 2022, we had lunch at Bistro Ave. It was a delightful experience. The food was delicious. Our waiter, Roberto, was superb. He was friendly and made us feel totally welcome as Americans.
Roberto was a superb Waiter as nothing was too much trouble for him and he always had a smile on his face.
Roberto Bravo and Annalisa were excellent! The food was fresh and delicious. I had the spaghetti with tomato sauce and gnocchi were on point. The service was delightful! highly recommend this bistro…when in Rome!
Roberto was our server and he not only was welcoming and served us efficiently, but he seemed to Build a great rapport with all the customers and had a great time joking with us! He went out of his way to call a bus company for us to get details. We had stopped in for a light snack and coffee and it was delicious. But the service is definitely top notch!
Lovely fresh food. Very tasty. Our waiter was great (and spoke great English).I kept it simple with one of the 4 types of ham and cheese toasties. But this is a couple of steps above what we get in the UK. Firstly the focaccia bread is so much lighter and crispier and the meat and cheese taste great but the addition of rocket (rugola I think in Italianreally topped it off for me.The best half really liked her salad and grilled vegetable dishes. I had a taste and I agreed. But the cannoli Croccanti was her favourite thing shes had the whole time weve been in Rome. She even wanted to go back after a long day walking around the Vatican, St Peters, the Colosseum and nearby forum. So get that and get happy!
Had the best time, the best food and the best drinks, the staff are also very lovely
Very pleasant atmosphere- Roberto provided a happy positive vibe and gave good menu suggestions. Prices reasonable for a place so convenient to Vatican!
Very expensive compared to other places. Service was also very bad. They passed over us even though we were queueing first as we were foreigners.
Is there a way to give ZERO star? WORST restaurant I have even eaten. Unbelievable how an Italian restaurant is capable to make a "miojo" style pasta, tasteless bolognese sauce and written fettuccine ragu being anything but ragu. Plus, HORRIBLE wine.
Very rude. They insulted me. Will not go again. They were angry when we sat down even though we purchased food and drinks. We asked a question and they treated us poorly. Nice ice cream though. Terrible service
Everything was very average and the price of everything very expensive. The cappuccino was ok but the tiramisu was a half frozen cake and a super runny yellow cream on top - not a good experience at all. The service was also meh. We would never come back here gain.
Nice food and great service. Special thanks to Roberto. My wife and me were delighted by your kindness. I particularly enjoyed my birra con sapore a limone 😉
The service here is great! Will definitely be going here more often, also a great view on the Vatican.. Bellisimo!
We had a great experience at this little bistro near the Vatican. Exceptional fettuccine with bolognese sauce, a simple but tasty salad (as ordered), and very personal service. The pasta was homemade and fresh. We didn’t have the gelato, but it looked delicious.
Delicious ice creams 🍦 Remember... never combine menthol with passion fruit! 🤣
Tourist trap, Im afraid... Weve had the worst tiramisu in Rome (too dry, too much tasteless whipped cream)and couldnt eat more than a bite... Looks good, but its definitely not worth it.
Stopped here after visiting the Vatican. Busy place. Would not come again. One cash register but food on two sides around the corner so you have to remember what you want without being able to point to it. My Focaccia was staged to look like there was meat and lettuce. When I received it there was one tiny piece of lettuce (not like it the pictureand one this slice of meat that only covered 2/3 of the sandwich. Imagine going to the deli and getting one thin slice of meat (one you can see through), cut it in half and that was my Focaccia. My wifes baguette was no different. It had much less meat than was shown in the display. The gelato was okay but expensive. Paid 5 euros for 3 tiny scoops that amounted to about 3 ounces. Crepe was decent but was 4.5 euros. The girl who rang us up was sarcastic. When done nowhere to put your tray or plate.
Honestly some of the best gelato we have had in Italy! The BEST treat after a long morning touring the Vatican. Lots of delicious flavours to choose from, you can’t go wrong.
I like to buy gelato at the place. lt is fresh to make and not sweet.
Tryied here 6 different tastes of gelato ice cream. Every one was just amazing. And the price was ok.3.50 for one 4.50 for two or 5.50 for 3 scoops of ice. +1€ if it is in a waffle. A little minus that we had to wait endlessly for being served although there were no other customers to be served. No tables outside, just some inside. It was very clean.
Avoid!!! We couldn’t eat the food. I ordered the gluten free option and it was served in the microwaveable tray on a plastic plate with the plasticware that came in the box with it. My husband’s spaghetti carbonara - ordered at the suggestion of the waiter - had separated and was cold. We each had a cappuccino prior to our meal that was also cold. We were then charged for 1 L of water - received .75 bottle. We were then charged double for something that clearly states for two people and I was yelled at by the waiter. It took 20 minutes of being told I was wrong for them to have it removed. Without question, the worst meal we had in Italy.
Great place for a quick bite near the basilica. We visited twice and tried coffee, sandwich and gelato. Food was good and reasonably priced. You can find a seat to relax from standing in the line.
We ordered a 1 litre bottle of still water. What we got was a 0,92 litre bottle of still water. The food was excellent. If the bottle of water was 1 litre like we ordered I would give 5 stars.
We stopped here for a snack and got 2 arancini and a slice of pizza. Firstly, very expensive even for being a tourist spot. The pizza was decent enough for being warmed up but the arancini was DISGUSTING. It was completely dry as if the rice wasnt cooked enough, and barely had any flavor. They gave it to us cold in the center so we had it warmed more and it was still completely dry and flavorless. My husband didnt even want to finish the rest of his and I ate mine only because we were so hungry. Not worth the €2.50 each!!
