Casual stop for unique hot dogs, from duck-&-foie gras to sausage to traditional Chicago-style.
Excellent food! This place reminded me a lot like Gene and Judes by OHare airport. They have all the shirts from Iconic Chicago dog stands hanging up.
Hot dogs taste great, with a variety of toppings and some interesting menu items as well. Price is on the higher side for the amount of food you get, but I assume thats just the Kakaako tax.
Love this find. They has so many different options, some classic others a little more experimental and they’re all good. Fairly priced and fast service.
They make all kinds of hot dogs, ways Ive never thought they would be made. Could come back a dozen more times and enjoy something new. Everything on the menu is great. The lobster dog was a little over hyped by a coworker but maybe just not my taste.. still, Ill be back next time Im in town. My favorite is the Hawaiian dog!
Dissapointed. Long time Hanks customer. Two times in a row my Chicago Hot Dog bun was not steamed (or if steamed, dried outand actually dry with hard spots. Yesterday, the dog itself was barely warm. Im from Chicago. Never serve a Chicago Dog on a bun that is not properly steamed and the dog not hot!
Burger and fries do not live up to price. We came on recommendation and were disappointed with a mini pack of fries in the combo menu with a Hankburger. There are other burger stores that are much more qualitative and quantitative at the price. Burger was okay, nothing special
We were on vacation for the week and went here twice! It was extremely delicious! If you want something special. Go there!!!
Great selection of dogs. Had the Portuguese dog and fries. Would definitely return. Gotta try other dogs. Service was friendly and efficient.
We stopped by on a busy weekend for lunch. The wait wasnt long, maybe 5 minutes. I ordered a Hanks frank. After hearing about this place from popular TV shows, I was expecting to be blown away. Its a hot dog. Theres nothing special about it. The real showstopper is the French fries & the sauce. Now those are perfection! The atmosphere was laid back, all the staff were nice, & I loved the seating outside. It was secluded enough to relax, but still open to enjoy the people watching.
The quality has been compromised. When they first opened it was a brilliant idea, using unusual meats to make a haute dog. Last time I was here was couple of yrs ago. Still good. This time I ordered the Chicago. First bite the bun broke, a little stale. The Hanks dog, I could make a better one at home. Lots of people coming to try, bcz of a write up. So, it is on the map. Lime soda still good. Outside dining is clean and cool with the bar across the sidewalk blasting music. Luckily I enjoyed it, funk/r&b mix. Wheres the New York dog? Wed is not a good time for special dog. Ill try again, maybe a Monday or Tuesday. Try making taro fries, use dry land taro. Utilize the Hawaiian farmer. Buy local, use better buns, haute buns. Lobster dog is mushy, maybe to simulate the lobster but dogs should have a snap or its just seafood in the shape of a hot dog. Taste was there.
great atmosphere. good food. the guy working was amazing and even gave us a voucher for free parking.
We love the hot dogs here at Hank’s and also the wagyu burger is the bomb!
I applaud the effort and inventive menu. Our dogs were good but the buns were so basic. My bun fell apart before I could even pick it up and half of it felt stale. And I opened it up within 2 minutes of receiving. Good service though. Fries were good and the cheese sauce was tasty. It’s fine but don’t expect the world.
Had a hamburger. It was very good.
Came here because of “Somebody feed Phil”. Full menu as shown on TV was not available. Also, packaging hints at a wider selection that might be/have been available at a certain time.In the end, delicious and fancy dogs! Definitely a must-see.
Really good assortment of food and drinks. Staff was friendly and took just five minutes to get all our food. Everything we ate was good.
We found this gem while on vacation in Hawaii. We loved it so much we ordered twice from there while in the beach. Our orders were 💯 correct and the food was very tasty. Try the Mac and cheese you won’t regret it.
Truly excellent casual fare. I havent had currywurst or Bavarian weisswurst sausage since I was in Munich and never expected to find a faithful recreation of it here in Honolulu; truly delicious. Ill definitely be coming back
Everytime we are in Honolulu, we come here. Love hot dog places made with unique meats amd unique toppings and this one is my favorite in the world!
Found a 5+ year old stamp card on my car and decided to see if it was still valid. Walked in and got myself a free Haute Dog. Great customer service and didnt wait long
4 of us all got something different and split them. For the price of the lobster fat boy, we expected better. Although everything else was great and well within the quality/price expected
Delicious hot dogs! I usually get a Chicago dog, but they have all types of options. The pineapple ice is such a nice treat for a hot day.
Huge selection of dogs (sausages, brats, etcdone meats are quite unique and or seasonal. All the usual toppings are added.Seating is just coming back after covid
We found this place on accident on our trip to Oahu. Its on triple D, you foodies know what Im talking about and know Guy knows whats up!!My burger was amazing. My wife got one of their Chicken haute dogs and loved it! She also LOVED the white truffled mac n cheese. It was soooooo good!!The PINEAPPLE ICE... we ordered one. While waiting for your order. I went back and ordered a second one for my wife. WAY better than any Dole Whips we had hands down!!A must get on any day to cool down!!Mahalo Hank
I found this treasure on an episode of Somebody Feed Phil (Netflixand was excited to try their food. I ordered the chicken dog with truffle cheese fries and garlic aioli on the side. Everything was delicious.
They nailed the Chicago Dog. The green relish, the Vienna, beef, and the poppy seed bun were perfect. The fries were very fresh and crispy. And making it a combo is a great deal. The PBR was only an extra dollar on top of the regular combo fee. Also, there is a good amount of outdoor seating.
Like anything in Hawaii, its expensive. The hot dogs themselves are about the same size as ones youd make at home. That doesnt mean that they are not delicious, however. Great selection of hot dogs from around the world that are well made.
The Hawaiian dog was really good. I recommend the onion rings also.
Located in Salt, Kakaako this is the best hot dog restaurant in the State! Featured on The Food networks Guy Fierys Diners and Dives. Casual restaurant with fancy items like Duck Foie Gras to Authentic Chicago Hot dogs, which rival Super Dog (in Chicago).! They use a poppy seed bun, Vienna all beef hot dogs, green relish, celery pepper, mustard, onions, tomatoes, and jalapeños peppers! Aside from the size and taste, Hanks Chicago dog is just as delicious as Super Dog.Be sure to order their natural cut French fies with choice of gourmet sauces (garlic aioli or curry ketchup).Try their specials, such as the lobster hot dog or their duck foie gras dog.
So wanted a Chicago dog and was not disappointed. Flavor of the dog, to the bun, the toppings were perfect. Food pricing was a little high and menu items are only on somedays, so please check out website. But the food was top notch.
We had a lazy day in the hotel and were craving hot dogs and found Hanks on Uber Eats. It hit the spot! We ordered the chili dog, Hawaiian dog, and the Currywurst. All of them delicious. We are big Currywurst fans and Hanks NAILED it; very good! Tasty truffle cheese fries, hibiscus lemonade, and the pineapple ice, UGH! This place: *chefs kiss*We will likely order again before we fly home.
It was ok. It’s one of those places that’s strategically located in a high traffic area. If you want a quick bite, yeah, it’s there. The food won’t get you full or satisfied; it will get you to ok.
Creative menu of hotdogs for everyone. The haute dogs sat perfectly inside of the takeout box.Buns were very fluffy with generous portion of hotdogs toppings on the sausage.Hawaiian was nicely balanced flavor, but the first bite of chicken sausage was “salty” impression. In case you are careful with the sodium intake, I’d chose others. (Although sausages contains a lot of sodium, it is usually well disguised with other flavors)There are many options to chose from, so visit few times to try out different haute dogs.
We had the chili dogs and fries it was the best hotdog I think I have ever had. I just hate it took me 3 years to find this place. The fries were the perfect texture and were soft inside and they were now over salted. The hotdogs were perfect with great chili and cheese a must ty in Honolulu.
❤️! Had classic Chicago dog—grilled no sport peppers and onion rings and they were great! Haven’t seen a whole lot of hot dog places on the Island, but this is definitely a great place to get one. They have a lot of delicious sounding choices so you can’t go wrong. Hibiscus lemonade was really good too—not too sweet.
Great concept | Bad executionPoor management. Something seemed off with the older gentleman who works there. Didn’t care for how he spoke to the staff and his body language did not appear inviting.Even less inviting are the two signs reading “please have your order ready”That one left my scratching my head. As a tourist destination type place, it’s more than likely a large percentage of customers are first-timers, as it was mine. How are we suppose to know what to order before you approach to look at the menu.As customers went to order I noticed no assistance was offered. Pretty much figure out the minute and order yourself.Just weird. This is a very cool spot with lots of potential. Management makes a huge difference for the customer’s experience. I’ve been to places more than once simply because the experience was great. Will not be back at this place and my seafood hotdog had decent flavor but like warm.I do not recommend.
The food was great! Who would to think to put lettuce and tomato on a hot dog. The wife and I got the “Fat Boy”. The pictures tell the story. I will caution you though, the sitting area is small and it is a challenge to find parking. Overall, I would definitely come back.
We got a hot dog and it was tiny and$13, I thought it was pricey but there I ate it, so good, it worth it! The bun is so soft, and the sausage was pretty thick and juicy. I like the box style, so cute.
Best custom dogs I’ve had in a long time.Saw the place on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives just yesterday and decided to try. Should have bought more than three before driving 10 miles back home 😄 Definitely worth it! Will do the trip again soon 🤙🏼
Limited seating but the food was really good. Kind of pricey though. Spent $60 for hot dogs, fries and drinks for 4 people.
Loved this place. Staff is knowledgeable about celiac disease and even have a separate area.It has been a LONG time since I’d had a hotdog, and Hanks Haute Dogs did not disappoint whatsoever
When one thinks about Hawaiian cuisine, he thinks of seafood and tropical drinks - not hot dogs.Hanks should be visited by anyone who can appreciate fast service, inexpensive food, and a damn good hot dog. I ordered the Fatboy, a bacon wrapped dog. Yum! My wife got the Chicago, a tolerable spicy dog.Shout out to Guy Fieri for featuring this place on his show. This place needs to be visited by everyone.
Loved this place! Visited many times while in Hawaii, and was never disappointed! Try the duck fat fries!!! Also every day they have a special hot dog. Check the menu. So good. Homemade sausage and imported Chicago peppers and buns for an authentic taste!
Located in the SALT district of Kakaako area of Waikiki/Honolulu. Small place. No table seating but bar style seating available inside and on the patio. Simplified menu of hot dogs, hamburger and fries. Good old American comfort food. I recommend ordering the combo; best bang for your buck option. I had the Hawaiian which features a Portuguese sausage and pineapple relish. With the fries I selected the curry ketchup; adds a little kick.
The hot dogs here are delicious! If you’re in the area, it’s worth checking out.
Takes the idea of a hotdog and makes it entirely unique. Hank’s is a great afternoon lunch spot. With an adequate amount of outside seating I have never had trouble finding a spot. This is a fairly popular place so I would try to avoid going during the lunch rush because Hanks is very popular. The hot dog list is very broad, with many options to choose from. So far I have only had two of there dogs, and both were very well prepared with excellent flavor. My favorite factor of this restaurant is that they have daily specials featuring even more unique options such as their lobster hot dog or their wild boar dog. Another thing I judge burger and hotdog places on are their fries, and Hanks makes some good fries. You can go with more traditional French fries or their double fried option for extra crisp. Moving to Hawaii I never would have expected to find good hotdogs, and Hanks proved me wrong. Enjoy!
Super Ono! Best Haute Dog I had in a while. The fries were great especially with the garlic aioli! They have a combo that come with fries and drink for 5 dollars more... worth it guys check it out!
An excellent restaurant for a quick bite. The “haute” dogs also come in a vegetarian or chicken option which is rare! Opt for the tea or pineapple ice over the fountain drinks. Also opt for the fries over the mac and cheese. Their customer service is excellent.
This is the coolest idea! Im not a big hot dog person, but I will come here for a treat! So many options. The fries are good! The lilikoi soda is amazing! Check it out!
The dogs were great. Once had a 1Chicago and 2Hawaiian and Im a very happy customer. Truffle cheese fries are as must, as is the hibiscus lemonade.
