ღvino Underground - Wine bar in Tbilisi, Georgia
Enjoyed the wine tasting, amber wines are most intriguing
This place is legit! Did the wine tasting and it was easily the best I did in Georgia! 4 beautiful styles covering various different types of wines from the country. The pours where very generous and the price was outstanding! Pairing this will the delicious snacks available I had a really enjoyable evening here. Would definitely recommend this place of the extremely touristic wine bars in old Tbilisi. Worth a visit for sure!
Im permanently visiting this place and love their wines. Thus they had amazing cheese when I have been there 2-3 years ago. I wish they have those bog assortment of delicious Georgian cheese.
Wonderful wines. Had a few glasses of different qvevri wines to try and bought a bottle of the wine we liked best to take away.
Nice place. Enjoyed the time with friends and wine.
Cool place to sample good Georgian wine. Natural and European styles.
Very nice and romantic atmosphere. You can get wine by the glass or by the bottle. The wines are from around Georgia and from smaller businesses. They do have some limited food options, like a meat plate, a cheese plate and a meat and cheese plate.
Weirdest and worst wine tasting I have ever been to. 1there is no change of glasses between wines. yes, you will get white, rose and red - all put into one glass 2there is no water 3there is no explanation or stories about wine except of its name and sort or grapes(well, we can read what is written on the bottle, thanks4)the amount of wine put into your glass is just a shame. must be smth between 15 and 25 grams (no joke! Conclusion: a complete rip off. Went with my mum and wasted 69 gel. (they forget to tell you tax is not included). Dont go!
Neat place. Wide selection.. tried the wines on tasting offer. Neat.
Shocking service! The place is empty and the person running the wine tasting is showing no interest to explain the wines -method, varieties, etc. Have done another wine tasting earlier today and the person was so engaged and knowledgeable. Really regretting having come here for the tasting
We had a wine tasting at Vino Underground. The lady was very friendly and knowledgeable about wines. We were the only guests at that time so we it feels very exclusive and intimate.
The worst place in the whole Georgia. Terrible service, no contact with the customer. They pour whatever wine they want, you cant even ask for another order...
Nice place, good wines. The only thing I did not like was the disengagement from the staff lady. Her service was regular compare to the great service you get from the most restaurants around the city.
Very cool place for wine. A lot of rare wine choices including bio wine. Not a lot of food. Just cheese and meat plates. Awesome underground decor.
Nice cave, good wine, and good cheese! Maybe just a bit expensive, and 15% services tax. But a real good choice of wine, and helpful waitress :)
The place has a nice vibe and my expectation was very positive. We had a wine tasting for 4pp and in the end we felt that it was extremely over priced for what you get. We tried 5 wines (1 more than it was told because the staff was very kind). She tried her best to create a nice experience and actually went beyond her duties so we could leave with a better impression, but the service was terrible (just 1 person doing the whole hall), our food never came (we stayed for over 1 hourin the end we cancelled it and most important, the pours were so tiny that we felt weve could have gotten 4 bottles of great wines with the same amount of money and we didnt even drank half bottle considering the volume given to each wine for all. Furthermore we didnt try any wine that had the wow factor. Definitely not coming back and do not recommend the tasting at all. Very sorry to leave this review but its an alert so they can change the way to operate the wine tasting.
Very cool vibe, I came here with a few friends and tasted a variety of Georgian wines and we all equally felt that this was a wonderful experience! the recommendations were excellent and the staff provided a great education of the process of wine making in Georgia. I walked away with a much greater appreciation for Georgian wines and an idea of the types of wines I would like to continue to explore. The staff was incredibly friendly, professional and pat great attention to detail. The interior decoration is also very cool and the entrance to this restaurant feels like you are going into a secret hideout off the beaten path - expectations were exceeded! If you are in Tbilisi, Georgia - I highly recommend coming here to taste some wines and to enjoy drinks with friends. Vino underground was one of the more memorable places I visited while in Tbilisi!
I went here 2 years ago and it was a great place, I had a wonderful time and left with 4 bottles. I went again and it was decent. I just went and we had 4 people get a wine tasting. This 3rd time the service was far from the best and actually our waitress was trying the most but the place is totally understaffed so it wasn’t her fault at all. The sample sizes were tiny, and the price was way too high. We basically paid the price of 4 bottles and only drank half a bottle between everyone. Apparently the owner has changed and it isn’t the same experience. I wouldn’t recommend the wine tasting although the place is cool and the location is nice.
Nino hosted our first Georgian wine tasting and made the experience incredible for us. She knows what’s up and have good music taste as well :)Definitely recommend to stop there if you would like to learn about the different wine and regions.
Exceptional selection of artisanal Georgian wines from small vineyards across Georgia. Very friendly staff who offer expert advice and wine tasting for those who want to experience the many wonderful wines from this amazing country. Simple but delicious menu, in intimate, cosy and central location.
Exquisite wines and very friendly staff, I learned a lot about Georgian wine culture
Words cannot describe the amazingness of the food, the wine, the atmosphere. A cozy basement level bodega lined with wine sets the scene. The owner shares her incredibly wine knowledge and takes you on a journey through Georgian wine country. The menu is unique and utilizes local ingredients with a twist sllof the young chefs design. You can watch her prepare your meal in her tiny kitchen in the back of the room. The cauliflower salad was life changing! I left full and happy after a lovely evening!
Its a nice space, nice cheese platter, kind servers, and solid wine selections. I didnt like the hard rock music being played and I felt it was perhaps a touch too expensive for what it is, but I enjoyed my time and I think many would enjoy it here.
Cool place in a cellar which was recommended by a winemaker to us. Obviously great for some wine tasting including some good cuts of cheese. Not many tables though, reservation recommended as many people came in and had to go again while we were there.
Expensive for local prices, wide range of wines, however a horrible choice for wine tasting. Do not recommend.
Good wines and music selection. We were the last once but they wait us without pressure of any kind. Thank you
My friend and I were pretty excited to go here and try some delicious wine, but it was really quite disappointing. The lady who did the wine tasting seemed very uninterested, she told us briefly about the wines we were trying, but honestly some waitresses at other bars had given more information when just advising on different wines. The tasting took a long time and afterwards we wanted to order another glass of wine, but after sitting for 20 minutes we gave up and decided to go somewhere else. The place has such great potential, it was really a shame.
I’d never return here. The manager was incredibly rude to my friends and me. When I asked for a particular grape, she scoffed at me as if I were asking for a juggling elephant. There are plenty of places to get wine in Tbilisi and often for cheaper prices - you should consider those before going here.
Very knowledgeable about the wine selection and a cool wine cellar vibe. Snacks were tasty and unique.
Every time my friends from abroad visit, I take them to this place. Why? Because this place has best wines in Georgia. Every wine is picked by professional staff, and will help you with finding what suits you the best. Never disappoints.I would post happy faces of my friends but, no one consents unfortunately (drunk pics).Food selection is limited because this is mainly wine bar, although cheese place and racha ham is good complement to the wine.
A highlight in Tbilisi in terms of dining and shopping. Was impressed by a very helpful, knowledgeable, friendly staff, one of whom displayed consummate singing skills at one point. I enjoyed the casual atmosphere. Lovely wine cellar setting, and not cramped and dusty, like the last wine store I went to. Prices were reasonable too. I highly recommend.
Staff is not friendly. At first, they seemed not to like explaining us about the wines, laughing about us not knowing much about Georgian wines. After, they didnt pay attention tot us, even when we asked for it. They were talking to people they knew or people wanting to sell their bottles. Wines are expensive if you compare it to many other places. Theres just finger food.Dont go there!
So so place and here is why. No food. No proper food. Just finger food really. So eat before you come here. Pricey! A lot of room inside. The waiters are running around many tables and hence not much attention given. Wine assortment is huge. Plus for that. Was expecting a much relaxed atmosphere. Next time I will go to a family run wine place.
This was one of the original bars to sample the wines made in kvevri in Georgia. Since opening, many others have come to be and are possibly more interesting depending upon who you are as most of the others have now interesting food for example. Vino Underground is now more of a meeting point for those of the natural wine circles so if thats not what youre looking for, I might suggest checking out around Tbilisi.
The perfect place to enjoy and also to get to know georgian wines. Such competent staff, so relaxed as well! Perfect English and Russian, I was very pleasantly surprised! The location is great as well, a vaulted cellar, spacious, eclectic decor. Big like, definitely worth going!
Hidden away from the usual tourist routes, but well worth a visit. Good choice of traditional, organic wines. We were there on a wine tasting and it was a pleasant experience. Recommended!
Such a great experience, the place is very cosy and nice, the service was really good and fast and everything we ate was delicious! My recommendation is to take the cheese plate and go with a refreshing Rose.
Very cozy cave-like experience. We did a tasting and the waitress was very helpful explaining the differences in the wines for us. You can also see the chef cooking in the kitchen with fresh ingredients. It’s a delicious home-cooked meal and they pride themselves on “slow food”. I recommend getting there a little before dinner so you have a table for the rest of the evening to enjoy wines all night. I recommend the Wine Thieves Rachuli Tetra White Dry 2016 if you’re into whites.
The wine was nice but the (onlyserver was quite curt, very unhelpful and rude. We had hoped to learn more about Georgian wine and get descriptors (since there are none on the menubut our question were met with sneers and sarcasm. A shame because the wine was delicious and we probably would have stayed a lot longer had it not been for her.
Such a great selection of natural wines, with great knowledge of the surrounding region and wineries.Do the wine tasting with five or seven wines, maybe with a cheese platter. And once you’ve got your favorite, get a bottle or more. You’ll be hangover free, guaranteed!
The wines! The cheese! Go go go. The staff is friendly and the place is cozy and welcoming. We went there for the three consecutive nights we were in Tbilisi. The wines come from the different wine regions in Georgia and you have many options to choose from
Poor selection of wines - only a handful available by glass and no outstanding ones. No description of the wine in the menu, and the staff dont seem to wish to describe the wines too much either. I went there to taste Georgian wines and learn about their particularities, how theyre made, their notes, etc. but that did not happen.
All Georgian style wines. So a different flavor profile than French, Italian, etc. Excellent stop to make to round out a trip to Georgia. Has some small snack plates and coffee as well. Makes for a nice evening.
Stop here early on if youre in Georgia and do a tasting to get an excellent overview of Georgian wine. Very knowledgeable staff with the best selection of small producer Georgian wines we saw, and a great setting to boot. Highly recommend!
Great selection of wine in one of the best parts of the city! Nice cool underground spot to try wine from not only georgia although the georgian selection is great! Would highly recommend to any travelers looking to taste some wines!
I enjoyed my time trying Georgian white wine here. Cozy interior with nice warm vibe. Great decor. Disclaimer though, I went here with a local guide as part of a tour, and our guide is a wine expert. He negotiated with the waitress to have me taste several wines first, and helped decide which one is good quality. Lokking forward to coming back here.
Generally it has a good selection of small batch quality wines, however it is pricey - some of the same alcohol can be found elsewhere 30% cheaper, and they usually run out of their bestsellers quite quickly and are left with measly selection. They do have wine and cheese tasting.
Best place to sample phenomenal Georgian wine. 7 samples for like 21 Lari. All the wines are organic, the prices are very reasonable, and the lady working there was friendly and very knowledgeable about all Georgian wines. I look forward to coming back.
Great variety of wines and server who spoke English. She recommended a nice red and white, which were much lighter than the heavy, dark reds that we drank all weekend. Also, its non-smoking inside, which was a nice reprieve from the rest of the smoky bars and restaurants we went to. Very chill vibe. Highly recommended as a pre-dinner drink!
We came to Vine Underground in the middle of the week about 3 p.m., so there were no people inside except the girl who was working there. We were group of 4 people, so we ordered wine tasting and various kind of cheese. The girl offered us 4 different wines to taste: two white wines and two red wines. Before tasting each wine we were informed about wines age and how it was made. Also cheese was fantastic and it really added some flavour for this tasting. It was a really good experience.
