Southern classics in a modern, rustic setting with ample bar seating, weekend brunch & happy hour.
Food was amazing. They sat my whole party of 10 at the last minute with no reservation. Will definitely be coming again
DISCRIMINATION. 11/13 around 6pm Man in the front came in my face as soon as I walked in and said he’s not serving liquor to me and my friends and threaten to call the cops on us. I didnt even say a word and we walked in to get food, no alcohol whatsoever, which was the funny part. We walked in normally like everyone else, no one was disrupting and no one was drunk. We’re all 22 years old and if we wanted to buy alcohol we could and it’s none of his business if we wanted to. It was clear he got in my face and tried to refuse me service because were all young-looking women of color. Extremely rude we immediately walked out of there and ate great burgers across the street at Whiskey Lounge. What a welcome. Immediately lost 5 customers on the spot.
Very delicious. I’ve eaten here about four times and every time I don’t have any complaints. Rum punch was awesome
I have been hearing rave reviews about Freebird Kitchen and Bar in White Plains, NY and finally had a chance to visit yesterday for Sunday brunch, on a recommendation of friends Brian and Alan. After spending 30+ years in the restaurant field (before switching careersI usually come in with high expectations. This wonderful restaurant literally exceeded any and all expectations I had. Sue greeted us with such a genuine and caring manner and made us feel as if we were family. I actually felt as if I had entered her home! The wait staff took such good care of us once we were seated and were just exceptional. The food was perfectly timed and simply spectacular. I had the pulled pork sandwich and my friend had the country breakfast. The menu is varied and has something for everyone! In my many years of working in and eating in restaurants locally and nationally, I can and will say in all honesty Freebird is one of my top picks. We will be back and look forward to revisiting. If you have not yet tried Freebird-TRY IT! You are in for a treat and will return many times, as we will!Charlie Frank
Lovely place great for dates, great with friends, great for sports viewing. Food is good, happy hour is short but well priced.
I ordered the two different popcorn chicken for delivery and when it came it was NOTHING like the menu said… bland with none of the ingredients!!! Just chicken with sauce no jalapeños no kimchi no scallions just dry bland chicken… NEVER AGAIN!!! $70!!!
I came to Freebird for my birthday brunch. It has a great atmosphere, great service (our waiter was super helpful with suggestions and funny as hell). I ordered the chicken and waffles and they SLAPPPP! The chicken was juicy and flavorful and the waffles had the right amount of sweet to go with it. Definitely make a reservation if youre going for brunch on the weekends
We had dinner at Freebird restaurant, White Plains Friday, 9-16-2022, and enjoyed our dinner very much. The food and ambience were very nice. A big thank you to our super nice server, Amanda who made our experience very enjoyable. She was engaging, funny, helpful and just wonderful. Thank you, Amanda!!
Had a great dinner here before heading to a concert at the Capital Theater. Will definitely return!
If I could rate this place 0 stars, I absolutely would. The manager made my first time experience here terrible. At first, the bartender was polite and attentive which I thought was great but whoever the on duty manager (older malewas, completely ruined the experience as he stood at the bar and just stared at our group (all femalethe entire time we were sitting at the bar. His stares made us extremely uncomfortable that we walked to the bathroom in pairs, he then followed us to the bathroom as if we were planning to do something and told me in front of another table of diners that I could not escort my friend to the ladies room as it was a one person bathroom which as an adult I clearly knew. Clearly this man made us feel so uncomfortable that we had to go to the bathroom in pairs. He had no reason to treat us this way when we were paying customers. We will never come back and deal with this level of unprofessionalism. We’re adults not children.
Great service, rooftop, delicious food, Perfect drinks and nice atmosphere
I celebrated my birthday at Freebird a few months ago. It was definitely a night to remember. Delicious food, phenomenal drinks, wonderful service & a bread pudding to die for. Freebird is my favorite restaurant in White Plains!! Definitively not waiting til my next birthday to go back. Thanks Freebird!!
They never disappoint! Love the people the owner is an amazing woman, love the vibe, and LOVE the FOOD. This is our go to brunch spot you have to have the biscuits and savory gravy. This is a must do brunch spot in Westchester County
A great Sunday night at Freebird. The wings were excellent. Kim at the bar was the perfect host. Sunday night is jam night and the band were kicking. Plenty of two options and a great southern food menu. Highly recommended.
Everything about Freebird is amazing! From the ambience to the food and drinks, you are sure to have a great time! Susie, George, and crew were super accommodating on a busy weekend and made my wifes birthday extra special. Everyone enjoyed themselves and you cant go wrong with anything on the menu! My wife and I love going here!
We celebrated my cousins birthday. It was my first time at this establishment. My salad was delicious. The ambience was unique. I recommend it.
Had a wonderful experience on Sunday 7/31/22... the food was delicious the bottomless mimosas were great. The ambiance sets such a great tone for the restaurant. We had the calamari, freebird burger and chicken and waffles. Super kid friendly, Susie was such a doll
The food was great but the service was lacking a lot. Once we placed our food and drink order we did not see the server again. He always just passed our table, did not fill our water cups since we were really just drinking water and we had to hunt him down just to get our check.
This waiter/bartender/jerk ALEC was rude and inconsiderate to the desires of our entire party. We were limited to out drinks. One waiter for the entire upstairs was too much for him. It was the unsatisfactory service by Alec and the fact that he was controlling the distribution of the unending drinks that tainted the day. He was a pain, he held on to the bottle or the pitchers and let it be known several times that he had the discretion to pour or not. We had not had more that one drink before he let his position be known. Creepy…It would have been a perfect brunch without this loser. The food was delicious. Alec get help. You need a different position. Your a loser not a waiter.
Great place and awesome food... the Mac and cheese with brisket taste phenomenal. Had the chicken and waffles wife had the lobster roll everything was cooked to perfection.. my new go to place def worth every penny
Dining out on the rooftop space this past Friday evening with my friend was nice and the food, beer and service were all good, I recommend. We got there around 7:15 PM and were seated right away. Our waiter did a great job, I forgot what his name was, great staff was appreciated and well be back.
I’m a regular, Alec is the best bartender/ server and Jenna is the hostess w the mistress.. BRUNCH IS THE BEST food is insanely good, cool rooftop bar and seating, awesome service, never disappoints, I will keep coming back.
Thank you such much!!!. My family enjoyed every moment, the atmosphere, food, and mostly the hospitality. Specially the wife!...From my family to yours we salute you!
Came for brunch with the family, this place was more than a 5 star— amazing service. The fried chicken and waffles were to die for. The cream for cookies and cream pancakes was one of the best things I have ever tasted, I love my sweets but this was amazing, my taste buds where in heaven. Definitely, coming back.
I went here for Father’s Day. The staff were all so nice and accommodating. The food was delicious and the prices weren’t ridiculous. They have a beautiful rooftop bar/deck that I will definitely be frequenting more often now!!! Highly recommend.
Food does take long to come, but drinks are immediate! Staff extra friendly, they checked on us throughout our stay and was eager to please. We will def be back, 5 stars to the staff and manager on duty tonight!!
I enjoyed the food and atmosphere, one of the best burgers Ive ever had. I didnt say low fat, but worth every bite. Excellent service, Alex had great personality and owner made a presence-always a classy touch!!
Tasty food and great ambiance. The fried Brussels were amazing. Lobster roll was also amazing. Big bird crispy chicken sandwich a slam dunk. Overall a solid executing on some of the favorite Americana. Before you order your main dish, I recommend the appetizers are well worth it!!
Usually I have a really good time at free bird but today the energy was off. The food is phenomenal so I can’t take that away from them. When I walked in I had my dog in my bag so it’s understandable if they don’t allow dogs I just wasn’t aware. Instead of the manager telling me they do not allow dogs, offering us the patio or even asking if it was an emotional support animal he started to push me out the back door. If I came in through the front I’m sure the host would’ve made me aware of this rule . When I walked in to an establishment no one wants to be pushed back outside especially not a female by an older man. He then said if it was an emotional support animal he could understand but he never even asked and she was. At that point I was embarrassed and just wanted to leave. My friend knew the bartender and stopped to say hello to him and when I turned around to tell her something while being shoved out the manager stood right in front of me as if to block me. Like sir I understand the rule I am not a child and the aggressiveness for a female standing at 5 foot tall is a little much. Even in 2022 everybody knows it’s a sensitive time and for you to touch me instead of using your words is a bit drastic and border inappropriate. Unfortunately I will not be back even if I crave the Brussels sprouts often 🥺.Imagine if I wasn’t a reasonable person and reacted in a different manner then I would have been wrong but Instead I just left cause you never know what someone is going through but even so you should never touch someone else.
Stopped in for wings and a quick drink. First time there. Decor was nice and not terribly noisy. Service was prompt and excellent. The food was tasty, had buffalo and lime wings. Would definitely go back to try other things on the menu.
Great atmosphere, good and fun service (our waiters were funny and helpful). We started with drinks, sangria with edible glitter and smoked maple bacon bourbon, both very good. For the apps we tried the chicken and waffles, tostones with shrimp and deviled eggs with salmon roe, each with unique flavors and all delish. Finished up with the short rib over parsnip and potato mash, sautéed spinach and roasted carrots; the short rib was so tender it fell apart and the flavors were on-point.
Came for brunch on a really busy day. Alex our server was super knowledgeable & funny. The fried pickles and potato croquettes were on point. Loved the shrimp and grits as well. My daughter loved her French toast with mixed berries and the Oreo waffles were okay as well as the eggs benedict. I’d definitely go back.
If youre looking for a traditional dish from the coastal Carolinas and Georgia, youll find it here. I recommend their Nitty Gritty Shrimp and Grits. Its packed with a distinct seafood aroma, shrimp flavor/taste and firm texture. Our drinks complemented the meal with a balanced sweet and sour taste. (recommended by our waiterThe ambiance created a warm and welcoming environment. Youll hear chatter from the locals, the neighboring employees, and out-of-towners. My wife and I enjoyed the FreeBird Kitchen and Bar. The only recommendation wed make to management is... to provide staff with uniforms (tees, etcWe mention this because it wasnt easy to pick out the workers from the customers. Other than that, we enjoyed ourselves and look forward to visiting again.
2nd time eating here this time for brunch.Had the country special with soft scrambled eggs. It was a good meal. They are busy on the weekend so I sat at the bar however it was very comfortable and spacious. With the game going, I was entertained while I waited for my mealThe blueberry lemonade was great too. Good price overall. This place was really amazing. Its the first time Ive eaten at a restaurant in White plains in years. I wasnt disappointed. The ambiance is very nice. I really enjoyed looking at the different interior design features that they chose. The paper cranes, wall installations are a nice touch. The food: it was fantastic. It was literally more than what I expected it to be, and actually genuinely delicious. I had the occasion pasta as main dish. And the crab cake and oyster and buffalo wings as an appetizer. They were all really good. The buffalo wings, I would say was quite salty. But I really enjoyed the blue cheese dipping sauce. It didnt taste like that standard dipping sauce, and Im actually curious which brand they use. Everything else was delicious. The pasta sauce and really helped flavor the actual dish. The shrimp that I added to the pasta was perfectly cooked. Chicken was fine, I wouldnt say it was the best. But it had that taste of grill. I really enjoyed my drinks which were the Scottish mule and a strawberry mojito. Both were fab, and want watered down. Staff was friendly but busy and let us keep to ourselves in a respectable manner. Covid restrictions were followed. I would definitely recommend and Im putting this as one of my go-to spots if Im ever in the White plains again.
I had a lovely brunch date here. The booth I dined in was cozy and best of all sturdy! There was enough leg space for me a little above average height person. There was enough table space for all our dishes including drinks and that impresses me because I like to sit directly next to my date as opposed to across from! And it makes sharing dishes even easier! I enjoyed the lobster Mac!!!! It was so creamy and the crunch of the corn bread crust was made from carby heaven! It came in a cast iron skillet which kept it warm through out the meal! The bbq wings were so good! Not huge freaky wings either! Nice crispy saucy tasty wings! Lastly I ate the brisket, grits and eggs!know this it all comes in a large bowl! Cheesy creamy grits as a base, then the tender brisket and topped with the egg your way of course. It was sooo delicious! I come from southern roots, and the grits were so on point! I really can’t complain about anything! The brisket was delicious and everything paired so well! They are really serious about the mimosa being bottomless! I was so well fed and the atmosphere was mixed with young couples, people celebrating and best friends hanging! It was just a great vibe! I enjoyed my Sunday brunch here!
I enjoy coming here! I travel from Hudson Valley just to come eat here ! The food is very flavorful and quite filling, the drinks really hit the spot too. The place inside is really cool. You’ll see why they call it Freebird when you go inside
Very nice ambience! The customer service could’ve been better but you could tell that they were busy and understaffed. Once we were attended to they were quite nice and the food was delicious. The fried chicken is the best I’ve ever had.
WOW Freebird! My fiancé and I definitely tasted that southern kitchen last night! The food was very very good! Service was great , ambience and decor is great! If your reading this review in deciding if you should eat here. You definitely should! You would not be disappointed. Ill be definitely coming back
Came to Freebird on August 28 for a date night. Was my turn to treat and pick the spot. After my first choice was too packed decided to try here. We were greeted right away and sat upstairs. Took a little bit before someone took our order. The waitress did not introduce herself but gave her opinion on which drinks were better. The mac and cheese needed more variety of cheese and seasoning. The chicken and waffle bites were amazing!! The right amount of spicy and sweet. The cajun pasta was okay. The sauce overpowered the chicken and shrimp. It was less saucy the second day. I forgot the name of the cocktail but it was not too strong and a little sweet. My date had the brick chicken. It was tasty. We shared the monkey bread which was enough for take away.
Nice spot on the strip. Rooftop indoor/ main floor and outdoor seating. The food was fantastic, waitstaff was on point. I’ll be back.
The service was good. Came here for my friends bday. We tried the wings and the chicken and waffles which were tasty. We also ordered the chicken with mash and the Buffalo Flatbread pizza. Both were not good at all..in fact, they should be removed from the menu altogether. The mash was clearly from a box, the chicken had NO flavor at all. The Flatbread wont even discuss. Altogether just stick with the appetizers.
Social Distancing and mask regulations are followed. Which is #1 for me because Im immunocompromised. Have not been out to a restaurant since summer! So got brave and came here. Ambience is amazing, the drinks are superbs, and the food is delicious. I would definitely come here again. Thoroughly enjoyed my experience.
Went for bottomless brunch on Sunday and ended up staying for 7 hours and 2 meals. Everything that we ate was phenomenal. The ambiance of the place is just so welcoming and so are the staff. Jess was our server/bartender and she was an absolute peach. And the owner Suzy made sure everyone was taken care of. 10/10 would recommend and weve already made plans to come back ourselves
Went here for Brunch on Sat Feb 1. The atmosphere was great. The Wait Staff was fantastic and friendly. Drinks were prepared well. There was definitley enough food on the plate to satisfy. One recommendation would be to garnish your bloody mary a bit more. Overall a great experience!
Went here for the brunch and got the Bottomless Mimosas with the Freebird Burger. The person I was with got The Farmer (Avocado Toast). It was a great atmosphere and the high ceilings gave it an even bigger look inside than the outside. Only reason I didnt give it 5 stars was because the fries were cold when they got to me.
Came here with some friends during Memorial Day weekend. It was one of the few spots that had a decently priced and and yummy looking menu. Though we were hoping to sit upstairs for brunch, we settled for the side walk/patio. The biscuit was a little burnt but the fried pickles were delicious! Our main dishes were also finger licking good, the chicken and waffles were yummy, the shrimp and grists were yummy and the pancakes were also good. The main highlight was the drinks which were frequently flowing and well boozed! Also loved that the owner came by multiple times to check in! Would come back for sure!
Ordered the short rib. It was amazing. No knife was needed, the meat fell apart with a touch of the fork. It was flavorful and moist. The way beef should be.Great southern food with a great staff. This is my first visit but I will be returning soon.
The food is amazing! Their hot cider drink is fantastic! Monkey Bread is yummy and can be shared with several people. I had their chicken and waffles for lunch. Very filling plus I had lunch for the next day. The restaurant itself has a nice vibe. Medium sized and somewhat narrow. I can see it getting full quickly at night. But the food is worth waiting for. Highly recommend this Freebird Kitchen
I really loved this place. My husband brought my mom & I here for Mothers Day. The restaurant decor is really nice. The staff are friendly, prompt & professional. The food was great!! Sorry I didnt take pics of the food but it was so good I ate it up before taking a pic. The tequila lime wings are great!! Think lemon pepper. My mom had the steak which she loved & I had the short rib which was excellent! I really hope this place sticks around exactly as is for many years to come. I will definitely be coming back
For a new place open only 6 weeks. The staff was kind. The food was great. They had raw oysters and it was amazing. Come for the drinks and happy hour. They a huge selection. Pro-Tip: trivia night are on Wednesdays. #win!
