david hostel - in Aswan, Egypt
Owner is nice, but I have to be honest it is really dusty, unless you are really in a budget. Dont expect too much with such cheap price.
Thank you David for all your amazing help! As he says "We are not a 5 stars place but we are 5 hearts to aswan visitors" we were not even staying in his hostel and he helped us have the best time in Asswan and told us how to get around without a guide with local ferry and transport. He helped us better than our actual guide we were paying. We highly recommand. The place is not in center but close to all essential places. It is also very easy to get around in public bus, faster than a taxi and so cheap! We did not see the rooms, but I am sure David will make sure your stay is amazing. He gave us all this help and advice for free and never tried to sell us a tour or send us places were he would get commission.<3
David is very helpful. He went out of his way to drive us to the bus station and made sure the police helped us get our ticket. He knows the area and is excellent with suggestions. He is a great resource. His mom and dad are wonderful as well.
I refuse to not give 5 stars because it is a great stay, David is amazing and super helpful, would definitely come back, the best value for money ever. Included laundry? Tea? Coffee? Amazing.Important to note that this place is not for picky travelers, but if youre open to a great local experience and dont want to keep getting ripped off, look no further!Shukran!
The owner is very friendly and helpful, but the hostel has no good common space, so it was not very social. It was a little dirty and in disrepair, the A/C was broken in most rooms and my private room could not lock. A little annoying that you have to ring the doorbell and wait for a family member to open. The location was okay, I liked the quiet neighborhood and it was easy to use local minibuses to get into town. Overall I did enjoy my stay, but the hostel served more as a base than part of my experience in Aswan.
Our stay at David hostel was great. David, the host treated us like family and couldn’t do enough for us. Helping us with all the local tips and prices. Much recommended
We can totally recommend this Hostel, especially for the price. The Hostel can easily compete with other places which cost double the amount. Our room and the bathroom were always clean. The owner David is super friendly and helpful, you can literally ask him anything and he will give you a very quick and honest response.David has also a ig page you can check out (davidhostelaswan)
David, his wife and family all speak English and very fair and honest. There is no hard sales tactics so people keep extending their stay! Stay in a dorm for a night then move to a room or even an apartment room. I stayed 4 nights and wanted to stay longer. Had a homey feeling. The local neighborhood is very Egyptian! Mosque, school, kids and great fish!
Good if you have a flight on the next day.LOCATIONThe closest place I could find to the airport.FYI : it takes 40 minutes to get there without traffic. The owner can arrange the fare if you contact him on WhatsApp or arrange upon arrival.STAFFThe manager is reliable, calm and helpful.Airport transfer can be provided upon request. My guess is that the transfer was a bit pricy but very convenient for me.I would do it again. He was also nice enough to provide a breakfast for free!PLACE & AMENITIESDisclaimer: I am sharing this for transparency but I do believe that, for the extremely cheap price, it was acceptable.I stayed in a room which was in the cellar. The bed, bathroom and cleanliness could be worked on.The bed is sort of old and therefore "V-shaped" (you always fall in the middle).I came with my dad so it was a bit annoying. The shower has no door, and no tub.If you want to take a shower, I would definitely advise to ask the owner first to turn on the boiler.Initially there was no hot water, I asked the owner, he then solved the problem. He is very responsive. The bed was ok clean but the floor was kind of sandy/dusty, that was a bit annoying. You basically do not feel like walking with socks or bare feet.On the positive side, there are two nice common areas, I think (but I am not 100%that there is an access to the kitchen.Tea and coffee are provided for free if I understood correctly.WIFI: not a good quality at all in the (cavesbut it does work sometimes.PRICE / QUALITYIf you are on a tight budget, go for it.Also note that there is no real alternative close to the airport.
I went there at 2 am almost and he refused to host me as the dorm isnt allowed for Egyptians which isnt mentioned neither on the website nor on booking app
Very nice
David is without a doubt the best hostel host I’ve ever stayed with. He helped us save money on so many things including transportation and the Nile cruise to Luxor. He gave us takeaway food for free for the Abu Simbel Temple trip and personally drove us to the shop to buy some beer and to the ship for the Nile cruise. David’s hostel is definitely the best choice in Aswan.

Good and very reasonable rates for stay in Aswan. 15km from airport ,5km from railway station. Owner is English speaking and very good. He can arrange a good tour to Abu simbel.
Best Hostel in Aswan!
David is the main pilon of this awesome hostel where people meet every day for breakfast and make new connections with each other. Light breakfast is not invluded but it is free of charge - falafel and beans and coffee and tea are free throughout the day. Rooms are modest but they have everything you need. Next to the hostel, there’s a fish restaurant and a pizza/burger one from where you can take away. David is very helpful at every time of the day. He even came with me to fix the car when I had problems with it. It is not for the fancy ones - it is a budget convenient accommodation.
David Hostel was the best accomodation we had in Egypt. Its not the fanciest place, but its located in a neighbourhood where you can experience the city and get to know the daily life. A perfect place for travellers to share experiences with other people around the world. David was the best host we met in Egypt. Always willing to lend a hand in everything. The other guests shared our opinion. If I travel to Aswan again, its a no doubt.
What a nice place to stay and to meet travelers. You really feel home. Unbeatable price for rooms in Aswan. David, the host is fantastic, always helping and giving good tips.I truly recommend and will come againThank you for everything !
Cheap prices and David was so helpful and friendly
If you are picky, please spend the few extra euros/dollars/pounds elsewhere. But: if you are really travelling on a tight budget, David makes up for every comfort you are missing here! He helps you with everything and always gets you tips and the right (and probably cheapestprices to visit everything! Definitely made my stay in Aswan! Thanks a lot!
You get what you pay for. Cheap place, dirty bathroom without warm water, brown water coming out of the tap and mattresses that have had better days. The dorm has a camera, I dont know why, because thats kinda awkward. The good thing about this place is the owner, he is a nice guy, and helps you out. And they do free laundry (pretty quick as well!). But nah I wouldnt recommend the dorm.
Mr David is the bestVery hospitable, generous, kind and helping person. Do not hesitate to ask him anything you want he will help you with everything you need.On my first day he showed me around the place and the room is very clean and air conditioning works perfect.I would greatly recommend Mr Davids to anyone
Thanks David, you made my short stay very pleasant. Place quiet, restaurants and shops nearby. David will be willing to help you, ask him whatever you need!
Great place, not expensive and david and his wife are genuinely very friendly and helpful
Great accomodation if you are searching to feel welcome and at home! David is very kind and he will help you with everything you need.
Great place to stay in Aswan. Clean, roof terrace, hot showers and good facilities & excellent value. David is very helpful and knowledgeable with regards to the local area, helping me even after I left the hostel with information on busses and transportation to Sudan. Highly recommended and I will certainly stay again.
David, who is the owner, is a very nice & helpful person. He runs it by driving you to book your ticket, or just to enjoy the city.Davids son speaks very well english, and is a potential help for his father in the future. Roof terass is great and will with some help, turn to a new sleeping place with a room. To recomend!
David is an amazing host. The place is a jewel and it felt like home from day one. Low priced, outstanding service and high level of cleanliness - something very rare to find in Egypt.
It is the best hostel you can haveReally good in everythingGod bless the staff there ♥️♥️
David the owner of the place and his wife are very decent , helpful and hospitable .They answered all of our questions like all the time with pleasure , he knows the city very well and knows all the ways you can get to your destination .Rooms are clean , bathroom is working fine hot water free WiFi and surely there are alot of local restaurants with very cheap prices , good taste and quality food .
David helped us so much. He really is the most amazing host you can imagine. He is also very up to date about all the new corona travel restrictions and is willing to help you with this. Definitely recommend. Thank you David for all your help!
David had arranged our lodging, breakfast and conveyance to Abu Simbel along with all internal movement across the city in his car for $25. This was a great deal considering the distance to Abu Simbel from Aswan. David as a person is really nice and makes it a point to personally help all the travelers he interacts with. Please do check out his hostel at booking.com.
David was a wonderful host, he’s been the most amazing person we came across in our Egypt trip. He made our stay very comfortable, the room was immaculately clean. He was very kind to accommodate our last moment Abu simble trip and booked our tour.
Clean and comfortable Rooms, the owner of this property David is a very friendly and hospitable person. We had a late night checking he was very kind and accommodating. David also guided us through out our stay at Aswan right from getting to the property till the end of stay, he made sure we had a ride back to the train station. Overall I am very satisfied with the service. I highly recommend this place.
David and his wife are great hosts! Very attentive and caring. The hostel is perfect for the room price. We could also contract many activites with David with all the security and confidence that you wont find anywhere in Egypt. We totally recommend this place. The hostel is in a quiet place perfect for resting. Also you have lot of food stores and mini markets around.
Brilliant host but the hotel self is a letdown. Poorly maintained and needs a LOT of maintenance.
Very cheap and helpfull. A bit far from downtown. Excellent choice
Contact him if you really need cheapest tour prices to Abu Simbel temples and Nile River cruises.
The best place in Aswan to sleep. The owner is more then kind and helps you out with every problem. Also the community there is lovely.
Very nice hostel in the basement of an apartment. David and his wife are the most friendly and helpful people! Theres a tiny kitchen you can use, but its only suitable to prepare small and simple dishes.
Fantastic place to stay. Very nice for Backpackers
There are dormstyle rooms (50and individual rooms (200). Bikes can be locked up in the courtyard. The hostel is not in central Aswan but itis really quiet and chill. Shops and restaurants abundant.
Nice small Hostel outside of the city in an authentic neighbourhood. Youll find small shops and restaurants around. Busstop is also close by. Rooms were clean. The owner is attentive and helps you with any questions.
Very good for those wanting a cheap but safe place to stay. Amenities are basic but adequate
Very good man and helpful clean beds
david is absolutely fantastic. he goes above and beyond for you and i would 10/10 recommend his hostel to anyone!
I booked one night at David’s Hostel and ended up staying for 4 as I waited for the ferry into Sudan. The hostel is the downstairs of David’s family home and he immediately welcomes you into his family. During my stay, David arranged transport to Abu Simbel temple, a trip to swim in the Nile and visit the Nubian village, and would shuttle me to the main rail station daily. David took interest in all of his guests while I was there and was keen to learn about their experiences in Egypt and abroad. David also offered airport transit, although I did not use he service. I gave 4 stars as the nights could be warm with no ac in the rooms but other than that it was an enjoyable stay! Cheers David!
This is the best place I have ever been to in Aswan, David is a true genuine Egyptian with kind heart and amazing hospitality
GREAT PLACE TO STAY!!!Davids Hostel is a short 5 minute drive outside Aswan City Center in a very quiet neighborhood. The rooms are comfortable, the beds are comfortable and the fans work perfectly to cool you off after a long day in the heat!David is one of the best hosts weve met during our year long journey! He is very interested in learning about other cultures and bringing the world inside his hostel and also doing everything possible to help travelers along their way.If you are looking for a place to stay we highly recommend this hostel!!
