bar pizzeria restaurante va a seguir - Bar & grill in Sixaola, Costa Rica
Unpleasant experience.Waited 50 minutes for mediocre pizza margherita and tasteless pasta carbonara.High prices, low service.
Best Italian in Viejo. Best bathroom as well. Lol.
Wonderful, local spot w/very nice staff, good menu, dining room and bar area. And more importantly by far the nicest restaurant bathroom in all of Puerto Viejo even with the little door that looks like it goes somewhere...
Had a great dinner with family and friends, the food was excellent and the ambiance is very chill and pleasant.Much better than most places downtown.
This is easily one of the best restaurants in the area, and possibly in all of Costa Rica. The pasta is phenomenal. The service was great too. The food takes a while, but for good reason.
Excellent Food. Excellent Service. Real Caribean food
Great Italian/Seafood restaurant. We had dinner here and it was phenomenal. I got the lobster ravioli but substituted red sauce for white sauce and it was so freaking good. My husband had the mushroom ravioli and he loved it. The salmon in white sauce was really good. We also got caprese which was fresh and flavorful. The staff was excellent and spoke both languages. This is fine dining for a very minimal price. You must give it a go.
Delicious food, good wine and nice atmosphere, just be sure you are not starving cause food takes a while to be served
If youre visiting Puerto Viejo, this restaurant is definitely worth trying. Food is great, staff are lovely.
Mauricio and Marco are the best. The service is amazing and the food is unforgettable!
AMAZING!!!!The service was brilliant, the food was absolutely delicious! It made our last evening in Puerto Viejo so lovely.
These must be fake reviews, because it’s the worst pizza I’ve ever had. I wish I had photos. They threw it away quickly. It was like eating a shoe. But instead of sprinkling cheese on top of the shoe, it was just the remnants of athletes foot.
The service, food and location make this an easy pick. I would focus on asking the owner the dishes he recommends and what is on special. But the pizza and cocktails never disappoint. Show up early, then walk around the town to enjoy the core essence of puerto viejo.
Prices are a bit over, but great service and great food.
Service was slow. Pizza was alright, definitely better places in the area if you are looking for pizza
The only proper restaurant in Puerto Viejo. Excellent food, wine and attention.
AMAZING! If you are in Puerto viejo you absolutely must eat here. The service is excellent and the food is delicious and fresh. The owner Mauricio is super friendly, his italian roots shine in the quality of the food and preparation. I had the seafood risotto. HIGHLY recommended. Dont forget to try the limoncello, which is made by them and based on a familly recipe. 10/10 Im definetly going back next time Im on the carribean coast. Best food we ate in Costa Rica.
Very touristic restaurant and doesn’t taste like a real Italian restaurant. The prices are also quite expensive. Compared to other local restaurants, you pay twice as much. Service however was friendly.
We ordered fillet beef Gorgonzola porcini, very good steak . Friendly waitstaff. Great selection of Italian food and wines . We recommend this restaurant highly.
I had the Mediterranean Spaghetti without the fish and it was delicious! The staff are warm and friendly and the service was prompt. Definitely a must try if youre looking for Italian food :)
A place witch is at his own leageReal Italian taste and quality.Had a great experience
I order lasagna and is not to bad but is far from good, it tastes very old, the expresso o order to is cold
I only had a coffee (btw it is called café but this is an Italian restaurant), and they gave us garlic bread as a courtesie. Pretty good and nice service.
Pizza and pasta were great, great spot and really clean. Prices are ok too, had to wait to get in but it made sense due to a lot of people wanting to get in.
Great fresh food. Waiting staff was very helpful and kind. Will gladly return
Excellent food and great ambience. I had garlic fish and a mojito, everything was delicious. My family was also very happy with what they ordered.
This is a very tourist popular facility. A guide brought us here, and actually had a band from the street, come up to our table, and Panhandle for tips!!
Overall pleasant experience. If you are tossing up between pizza or pasta, i highly recommend the pasta. Pizza was cut too hot out of the oven and became a soggy mess. Pasta was amazing. Great service and great price.
We just returned from a group trip to Puerto Viejo and dined at Cafe Viejo! This main street hot spot had it all: delicious Italian food, a cool ambience, great wine and cocktails and exceptional service. Cafe Viejo was packed with people the night we were there and yet they took care of our table promptly and professionally which is not always the case with a large group. We ordered drinks and platters of complimentary assorted bruschettas were brought to the table to start. Ron and I ordered an appetizer of assorted marinated seafood. Others in the group also ordered several appetizers and soon plates were being passed around the table for tastings because everything was so good 😋. Our entrees were delivered promptly, wine was flowing and this was a dinner we wont soon forget! We highly recommend it if you are in the area!
Best restaurant in puerto viejo for sure!
Amazing food! Some of the best we had in all of Costa Rica. The pasta is cooked to perfection and the arrabiata sauce is just wonderful!
Do not miss this place, it is spectacular! The 3 brothers bring their passion and family recipes to this small town in Costa Rica that could easily be mistaken for 5 star dishes at a large city restaurant.
A perfect Moscow mule and delicious pasta
We did not enjoy the service, we ordered desserts and asked specifically that we will get them together, they didnt, and the ice cream cake was melted.More over when we got the receipt, it made no sense and they charged us more than needed, after a long argue only the manager understood the mistake, but it felt horrible to fight over your rights.
One of the best restaurants I’ve been to In Puerto Viejo!I am returning after 2.5 years! Can not wait to eat great Italian food! The owners super nice/available, service incredible!
Great Staff, great food, open atmosphere, prices for USA would be good. The food is fantastic, the service is top notch. Darshaun us in point, from a customer standpoint, he is the model employee. Just a fun place.
Bland uninspired food. The worst margarita pizza Ive had. Was basically a cheese pizza with no mozzarella or basil. Not sure what part of italy the owners hail from. The seafood appetizer was also just oily and bland. Came due to the high ratings and left extremely dissatisfied.
Run by Italian brothers, this place is not only serving the best food, the service is outstanding. A little pricier than your typical Puerto Viejo restaurants but I think its money well spent for authentic Italian cuisine. The tagliatelle with mushrooms and sausage has a depth of flavor the knocked me over. Neoplitan pizza just like the home country.
We had our wedding celebration here December 9, 2005. Consistently great food, service and atmosphere. We will be celebrating our 15 year anniversary There We ❤️ cafe Viejo!!!!Michele and Eduardo Araujo
Cafe Viejo is an amazing Italian restaurant in the heart of Puerto Viejo. The food is the same high quality 👌 we receive the same quality we find in Italy. I recommend the grilled fish fillet (fresh red snapper todayit was amazing!! If you are in Puerto Viejo. You must stop and eat at Cafe Viejo.
This place is a joke. Been waiting in the que to be seated with the waitress walking past three times and not acknowledging us, just avoiding eye contact. She then proceeded to serve two menus to people who decided to grab their own seats at the bar. When I asked if that’s how this place is run she said no, and said when asked about the other couple she simply exhaled “it’s the bar” and walked off. Avoid.
Half Shrimp and asparagus half pizza atomica + Caribbean salad + sangria = perfect dinner for 2 . Great service
Based on the positive reviews we were expecting a tasty meal and were highly disappointed. The lobster pasta dish my girlfriend ordered was overcooked and the lobster was rubbery and tasteless. The sauces were also bland. We both love seafood and were expecting more out of a restaurant in a coastal town. We only ordered pasta, so their other dishes might be better. Giving 2 stars because the service was excellent with friendly staff.
We ordered the pasta arrabiata, it was very tasty, but extremely spicy! My partner and I usually like spicy food, but this was almost inedible. Its also very expensive here. Service was great, waiters all very nice.
Great Italian restaurant. Pizza a Baked la Napoli. The dough is well made, thin and crispy. Vegetable pizza is rich in varied vegetables made excellent. Mediterranean salad, slightly small but with lots of vegetables and also contains a Capparis A Bravo.A bruschetta tray came on the house, with tomatoes and saw an excellent pesto. The bruschetta was not roasted enough.Expensive prices.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT,THE FOOD & DINING EXPERIENCE WAS EXCELLENT!!!
The atmosphere and venue were very nice. Service was great. But the food was not worth the price.11900 colones for lobster Ravioli that lacked any flavor to say the least. Bread with tomatoes and pesto was very good though.
This place offers poor customer service, especially in busy months like October. You are not forewarned that your order will likely take over an hour. Orders might get misplaced delaying your food even longer. Quality of food is not worth the wait. If looking for good Italian food and much better service go to Pecora Negra further south.
The owners of this establishment obviously take pride in everything from presentation to the quality of the food.Service leaves a little bit to be desired, but I chalk that up to cultural differences. Must remember to leave the Type A tendencies at home when traveling through all of beautiful Costa Rica!
Ive been going to this place for years. The quality has remained very consistent. Still one of my favorite places in town. Try the boscaiola pasta. Its amazing. DO make reservations. They book up quickly. Dont expect a lot from the wait staff though. They arent the friendliest bunch.
