abc Country Restaurant - Nanaimo North - Family restaurant in Nanaimo, Canada
It was mid day and was there family the food was great and the service was great and my not just saying that we all had breakfasts and we all were happy with the food and the service again was great I will be going back for sure maybe next time for lunch but I enjoyed the breakfast.
Honestly worst customer service ever ! We got are mains almost 30 mins apart i ended up taking mine to go because my partners meal was 3/4 done and mine hadnt come out yet the front of house were talking in the corner or in the back i had to flag some one down to ask for anything even had to ask for cuttlery for are food. There were only 3 other tables of 2 .To top it off the hostist wasnt wearing a mask and when it came to get the bill i had to correct are waitress 4 times on are drinks cause she was trying to charge 27$ for two hot choclates with baileys when the coffee with baileys was 5.50$ each honestly wont go back even if you paid me ! And they dont know anything on there menu they had to keep running to check very unfortunet seeing i spent 80$ to eat there between the two of us .....
Pretty good. the hard boiled egg looks very nice and tasty too.
I have always really liked this place. It feels cosy, food is good and prices are reasonable. I do home care for seniors and took a client there on our way home and he liked it too. I wish we had one in Parksville rather than the new Rickys we just got.
Some food was cold, hair in food chef came out wearing sunglasses and a grungy looking headband with messy bed head no hair or beard net and was finger picking food from the buffet, so disgusting. Id give it zero stars if possible
Ordered chicken schnitzel. It took 45 minutes to come and was way over done. It was so dried out and hard that I couldnt cut it with a knife so I sent it back. We should have known to stay away when there were only a couple of cars in the parking lot.
Comfortable seating, good service, daily specials and weekly buffets.Chicken buffet Monday night looked good but I wasnt that hungry, I shared a quesadilla that came with a very nice garden salad (4 veggies n lettuce). We left feeling full.I noticed they have a beef buffet mid week and a Sunday brunch buffet as well.
Very disappointed with the customer service at ABC country restaurant. Stood there waiting for 10 minutes well three girls noticed us and continue to ignore us. Then when we were seated she was not welcoming. I found Jodi was expecting us to just walk out and leave instead of taking our order and being a good server. She never asked us if we wanted any refills on our drink didn’t smile at us. And then rudely drop the check on the table and walked away. In my opinion that is unacceptable customer service.
Epic dinner. Amazing Roast Beef buffet. Plus the new club card is totally worth it. Love this place. Plan to return many times.
Unbelievably nice waiter, he was quick and friendly, unfortunately had to go with one star as the food was pretty bland and mediocre and took quite a bit to get to the table, then once the kids almost gobbled up their dessert I realized that my sons dish was shattered and there was glass shards actually IN his dessert when I ran my finger through!Pretty horrible, he is special needs and doesnt feel pain, so if hes ingested some its going to be very hard to get him to communicate if hes in pain! Youd think they would have at least comped a kids meal after feeding them glass, but they didnt, we paid in full and will be contacting the health inspector tomorrow, how on Earth would you not notice a shattered clear glass dish before filling it?No pop available, and no Mac and cheese after ordering.
Great home style food with marvellous service. Try the pulled pork Mac and cheese, but bring your appetite! The eggs Benedict is also very good, and the breakfast buffet is extensive. The staff is always really helpful and like to go the extra mile. One of my daughter’s favourite places to eat!
Carderos has always been one of my favourite places in Vancouver and I love how despite their popularity theyre keeping it fresh and relevant. Great location on the water, nice place to bring visitors. Visited recently with my parents and everyone was pleased with their food; carnivore, pescatarian/vegetarian and vegan - everyone left full and happy.
The food was good. Arrived approximately 7:45PM after ordering drinks we were informed only frier meals were available. This limited what was available, if we had known this before hand may have considered a different restaurant.
Very glad we stopped by today. Had an excellent veggie omelette and husband really enjoyed his corned beef/potatoes/egg skillet breakfast. Lots to choose from on the menu. Warm atmosphere and quiet and comfy seating. Would have given 5 stars but it took a long while for our orders to be taken and we had to ask for ketchup and coffee refills....also the salt and pepper containers were greasy and I had to wipe my hands after using them. I would have loved an iced tea refill but couldnt find the server. Otherwise great! Well be back :)Been back a second time now and disappointed....food was good and waiter excellent BUT did not love seeing the green haired chef hanging out outside front door smoking, very dirty looking and spitting on the sidewalk after we ate!
The waitress gets 5 stars. She was excellent. The hot Turkey sandwich was delicious, big portion, but the side of gravy was thick like porridge. The mushroom mozza burgers looked huge.
Appreciated the friendly fast service. We were able to have a conversation without having to yell - some restaurants have poor acoustics so they just seem noisy but this was pleasant, even though it was a busy lunchtime. The food was fresh and we enjoyed our meal in the comfortable atmosphere weve come to know and count on at abc.
My most favorite meal in Nanaimo. They are always willing to customize their delicious vege burger for me and they are extremely generous with the avacado. Staff are welcoming and friendl. Food always comes hot.
Great value and friendly staff. Cant beat their breakfasts.
In response to a review written by Dan Bateman.Hello, my name is Kyle and I am the manager of ABC Country Restaurant. Mothers Day is our busiest day of the year, and Im happy to report that we successfully served almost 400 patrons and managed reservations for roughly 160. With numbers that high, sometimes mistakes happen. Im proud to say that regardless of whether anyone had a reservation or not, our wait time was under 10 Minutes, and I feel it was a very successful day. However during our busiest time, I noticed from across the restaurant a gentlemen (Dan Batemanshouting quiet loudly at our 15 year old hostess (who has been working with us for over a year). I immediately approached the door and told the man to leave. He refused. The situation escalated enough that we threatened to call the police if he did not leave immediately. It was only when I went to call the RCMP that Dan Bateman left the restaurant. I apologised to several people who had to endure this exchange, most of whom responded with "Good For you," and even a small round of applause. The customer experience is, of course incredibly important to us at ABC, and I truly believe we have some of the most loyal, kind, and caring customers a business could hope for. That being said, if anyone belittles, berates, speaks down to, or raises their voice at ANY staff member (Especially a 15 year old girl), you will be told to leave, and you will no longer be welcomed back. Thanks to everyone else who dined with us this Mothers Day, and we hope to see most of you back for Fathers Day.
Great friend and exceptional service. Came here for mothers day brunch. The food exceptional and the waitress Jodi was unbeliveable super efficient and helpful. When you come ask for her and you will have the best service ever
Made a reservation for Mother’s Day. Got to the restaurant and was told they didn’t have our reservation. The place was busy, of course (Mother’s Day). Asked how long we’d have to wait for our table and was told, “We’ve put you at the bottom of the list.” REALLY??? You don’t do your job, and now we have to wait til all the others are seated, when we should have been seated AS PER OUR RESERVATION, and, on a special day, to boot. Thanks for that. We won’t be back.
when i lived nearby i use to eat here somewhat often and the food was usually pretty decent Ive probably tried half whats on the menu lol but the last time i ate here my stir-fry was soaked in sauce and wss barley warm when it got to my table. also way too much onions.. a whole layer of onions. hmother than that the customer service here is usually good.
Good food, decent service. A tiny bit more expensive than Id normally like for a bacon and eggs kind of meal, but it was well done. They accommodated a group of 20+ men in a private room and had all the food out very quickly and efficiently. Overall, I was impressed.
We arrived at about 6 pm and were seated right away. Our waiter was very personable and took good care of us. Judging from the menu, this place caters to seniors. Lots of comfort food that is very familiar. No "gourmet" dishes offered. I ordered the Cobb salad and it was HUGE and delicious. My husband had the pot roast and thoroughly enjoyed it. Prices are reasonable and parking is free.
Bacon and eggs were great they use maple bacon. Eggs cooked perfectly. Coffee was ok. Our server was smiley and cool. Prices average to a bit over average.
Originally I pictured this as an establishment for the senior crowd but I was so WRONG. Thats not to say there are no seniors there, there was but the food was like any other Rickys or Milestones. We went there for Christmas lunch buffet and it was SO good. The selection was smaller but there was enough choice that no one would have gone hungry. The food overall was very tasty, I would definitely return on a regular evening.
Waited 15 minutes at 930am on a Saturday. Seated myself and my daughter. Was told by a customer beside me that there was only one server on. Sat am...one server. Waited another 10 minutes and no one came so left. Last 3 experiences have either been very sub par food and Ive been a fan of ABC for years . Will be the last time I go back. Sad.
Unfortunately, we must have picked the wrong day to visit. Our waitress was lovely and friendly but I had decided if our food hadnt arrived in an hour, we were leaving. Just minutes to go and the fish and chips arrived. Huge dissapointment. Fish was not cooked in the batter. As far as the wait was concerned, there was a large gathering to serve. Something like that doesnt happen by surprise and management should have set up help in the kitchen to cope.I have never paid over $3.00 for tea before either.I was so pleased with the ambience of the restaurant and guess that is why the food and service was so dissapointing.
Friendly staff and yummy food :Great decorations for Christmas!! Delicious buffet for the Christmas dinner that I attended. Convenient location and reliable service. Very enjoyable experience. I will definitely be coming back in the future! Thanks ABC Country Restaurant!!
They were really great! My daughter wanted the ice cream for dessert but likes the yummy worms from the worms and dirt, they brought her ice cream with gummy worms on it, made her day!
ABC is the perfect place for Sunday brunch. They have a breakfast buffet like I have never seen anywhere else. The variety to choose from is awesome, with a chef awaiting your personal desires, for something fresher. Bring your appetite, youll need it.
Multiple meals were brought out a half an hour after a majority of the table had eaten. Drink refills were nearly non existant.Waitress definitely tried but this place was quite understaffed even though reservations were made.
Took my daughter and a friend of hers here for late breakfast. My daughter had the cheeseburger and fries. When asked about her meal she said the burger was good, the bun better than most hamburger places . She still presfers McDonalds. The friend had pancakes, sunny side up and fruit salad. He tells me the egg was cold, pancakes good and the fruit was a little hard to biteI had the farmland breakfast with 2 eggs sunny, pancakes, fried potatoes, bacon and sausage. The eggs were slightly over cooked , no sunny more like over easy. The pancakes didnt have much flavor or texture. The fried potatoes were cut into small cubes which made them less flavoufull. Bacon was too dry ( over cookedsausages had a greasy flavor.Sorry to say that I dont see any reason to return to this restaurant.
We went to dinner on Thursday August 23. Both of us ordered the “swiss steak” which was nithing more than a dry flattened tough hamburger paddy with fake out of a package gravy. There was one onion piece and 2 mushrooms. It was discusting . We try to eat out once a week on our pensions and realize that it was seniors night, but we deserve proper food and service..Perhaps the cook should try other resturants and see what a Swiss steak is like. Or try a cook bookUnfortunately we will not be back. Your Senior price has increased from $9.99 to $13.49 an in rease of over 40%. Our pensions have not had an 5% increase ever..Marjorie and Jon GislasonNanaimo👎👎👎
Great food great service. Everything Ive had there is delicious but I usually end up going for the veal cutlets, as thryre just so good!
A good family restaurant. The kids menu has pictures of all the items; which make it very easy for the kids to know what they want. The food was good and wholesome, the staff was friendly and easy going. I would go back again.
Very poor service. A slow Sunday and despite that three servers more worried about being provided a hot buffet than serving customers. All three went by me without comment Cold coffee. Soft and crumbly nanaimo bars, cold eggs, outdated croissants and sous chefs unwilling to make custom orders . All in all an absolutely horrible buffet brunch experience. I can not recommend anyone to patronize this restaurant..
I had breakfast here a minute ago. Ordered steak and eggs. Toast and steak were obviously burnt but they brought it to me anyway. I was starving so I ate what I could. I try to avoid the big chains sometimes but I get disappointed like this sometimes. Not sure when the burnt steak taste will go away.
Must have been an off day at abc. Only one staff serving the restaurant running around apologizing "I will be right there" while two other staff members were busy but not taking care of customers. Food was NOT that great. Toughest pieces of toast beef (cubesI have ever been served. Will not be back. Too bad because this use to be a great restaurant and chain.
Not impressed with the time it took to get our meals. Basic fish and chip with bacon n eggs 40 min waiting time. Missing some server for noon lunch. first time, last time. Sorry
Waited at the front door to be seated for over 5 minutes. Watched 5 staff members look at me from the back of the restaurant but none came forward to seat us. Finally gave up and went to Whitespot where the service was excellent.
Came in for lunch today and we had a pulled pork sandwich and a beef dip. The pork was full of gristle and almost inedible, and the beef was super dry, with very little flavour. Service was decent, but the food was well below average. Go in with low expectations and you wont be disappointed. The whole experience was topped off with seeing employees/management not wash their hands before leaving the bathroom.
Sat an hour with my children, a table of 4. Topped up our hot drinks once in that time. Complained and was told the kitchen is very unorganized. Looking around the rest of the tables more people are not eating and waiting for food than eating. Not full! Would go to white spot down the street in future.
Just finished a fantastic roast beef dinner smorg. There was 2 salads, mashed or roasted potatoes, mushrooms & onions in gravy, carrots & broccoli steamed to perfection, Yorkshire pudding and, roast beef, gravy horseradish!! Then a great variety of deserts cream puffs, long johns, slices, trifle and variety of cookies. Go back for 2nds if you liked. Highly recommend!!
We havent tried a lot of their menu items but their Veggie Burgers are really good! Loaded with tasty toppings, served on a multi grain bun with home style pickles and fries on the side. Would definitely buy this luncheon choice again.😂The decor could use some sprucing up but their prices are certainly reasonable.
Oct, 2017I have for years got together with my family every 2nd week at ABC . Over last months I have had my negative and very poor visits .I have been told there no chicken for my salad, no ribs for my platter and now the meals are getting even worse.Last time we all went in for breakfast. I order a waffle and sausage’s. .I got a toaster waffle 3 sausages I could not eat. MY family all, not happy with their food as well. In fact my wife got the same meal and refused to eat a premade toaster waffle . I will not return to poorly run restaurant and I hope soon some one makes big changes. ..RT
The abc Country Restaurant is a large family restaurant located in Nanaimo North. Its neither bad or outstanding. The menu is huge and a bit overwhelming to be honest. I tried one of their burgers with endless fries. It was just okay. I asked for more fries, which took a long time coming. How long? The people I was with wanted to just forget it and leave, but we waited. The fries that came were way overdone. The service was decent when they were around. Average at best.
The first thing I noticed was parking isnt great but they were busy. The drink list is very small, nothing special on that. I order a tomato Mari veggie fettechi with chicken and onion rings on the side and my boyfriend ordered mushroom matza burger. They were very generous on portions but the price is very high. The burger was plain but fries were awesome. Onion rings were boring tasted and looked just like the store bought ones from cosco. My fav part of the meal was the bread the pasta was nothing special , something anyone can make. This is why I only gave them 2 stars and I wouldnt recommend this place.
We werent poisoned, but the breakfast was institutional. This is the easiest meal to make fresh and impress your clientele yet we were neither impressed and Ive never seen so opaque of a yolk in my 50 year life! The only reason they get a 2* is that the place was clean (except the lack of soap in Mens room, but a family washroom that was stocked resolved that). We heard good things, but will NEVER go back....PS:. I think their "famous redskin hashbrowns" may be more infamous - like John Wayne Gacy "famous"... Nothing to bring attention to...
Such slow service, and we were greeted by the most unhelpful hostess, who clearly was in a bad mood, probably from her braces. Maybe they were tightened that day. We were seated and were waiting for an hour just to get our food and it was only decent. Would not recommend to anyone!!
