Exhibits showcasing the history of the Zwack family, makers of a well-known liqueur.
Amazing place! The staff is kind and polite, the story of the family behind unicum is interesting!
Interesting history of a famous drink
Great experienceThe gide was awesome
We visit the museum, saw the history of the Zwack family and tasted the different Unicums flavors. At the end you have a little store. Everything was great. Love it.
Extremly interesting story and place, guide was very polite and fluent in english
amazing tour.English tour is limited so better to ask before or book online beforei became to love Unicum thanks s lot!
Fun tour learning about the process of making Unicum and the history behind this Hungarian herbal liqueur. The general tour includes 2 tastings of Unicum directly from the barrels in the cellar and a premium tour includes 4 tastings. Highly recommended!
An excellent place to visit and pick up some unique unicum products.
Very investing, modern, detailed. Didnt like the drink though.
Story wasnt groundbreaking, and taste test tickets got sold out before I arrived.
A bit mixed, about a million bottles, well presented in the museum, but after the first few displays then bottles are not that exciting...A ten minute video gives you the company background.-and then then the factory tour... First a room with a lot of herbs on display and two old stills that are not used any more, then down to the cellar where there are bunch of wooden barrels with different dates on them then finally you get two paper cups with 2 x 4cl hard liquor...Guide / staff was good, but subject a bit thin...
So much fun and informative. Check out the 17,000 mini bottles in the top tier of the museum.
Zwack Museum is great! We loved the museum, distillery tour and gift shop. Highly recommended. We had the 2 samples and definitely enjoyed the Plum.
Enjoyed the tour of the facilities and trying out the liquor which is more unique to Hungary. It was a good way to spend an hour.
Had a day I Budapest after a Danube River cruise/bike tour. Booked the English tour. Brigitte was our tour guide. She was really great and made sure we were taken care of. I highly recommend this tour and museum visit. I liked the history in the museum as well as the vast mini bottle collection.
Fascinating history of the Zwack family, the Unicum drinks, and Hungary from WW2 to present. Impressive cellars and casks.
The testing tour is very interesting. The place is very beautiful and the liquor are tasty! Nice to hear the history of the place
Interesting look at the Hungarian history through this beverage and its making. Museum had some great artefacts and historical insights. The bottle collection on the top floor was amazing and the factory barrel tour was also interesting. A good tour if you want to learn the history of Unicum
The exhibition wasnt open when we went, but we only had to pay half price and the experience was still more than worth it. The cellar tour and tasting was really fun and unique. And the shop offers really great prices on Zwack products!
Really kind staff, nice atmosphere, perfect English guide and a truly unique history is shared with those who come here. A must see for those who are interested in Hungarian history.
What a delightful experience, the kind that causes both touristy lols and genuine childish excitement. Especially if you like big machines and barrells (I do).The tour starts with a film. It is a biiit like a long commercial, at times do over the top that its comedic, but thats ok (there are also some interesting historical elements in it of course). The best part of the experience is the visit to the cellar, and it would be the best and interesting even without the tasting! Its existing to visit a working distillery! The museum is full of interesting artefacts and the photo booth gave us the ultimate lol experience. (I say it without irony).Kudos to the guide (Kristoff?for being patient with our dad jokes and questions about everything.
A very interesting plece with history, alcohol and nice people 📌You can taste the drinks and enjoy an interactive tour.. :The architecture of the building and the history of the place are very interesting.Youre going to enjoy ur time there👍
Our tour guide was very good. Wasnt dragged out and wasnt quick. Had great knowledge and gave us tasters.
Really nice place, tour, unicum tasting and really lovely museum.
I got one Unicum Riserva from their shop for my dad. It tasted great 😄Probably the price of drinks here are the most affordable in Budapest
Great museum to visit. Selection in their shop is amazing. I visit this place every time Im in Budapest. Its definitely worth my time as I cant do this often. Im from Canada.
Fantastic place to visit! This museum is part of the yellow tourist bus line. I highly recommend hopping off here. English speaking guide, many interesting facts about Hungary we got to know during the visit. I would recommend this place for sure
Definitely the place to visit when you are in Budapest. Great museum with more than 17,000 items. Tasting world wide famous herbal liqueur directly from the barrel in the cellar. It is awesome! Staff also very friendly and highly professional, able to solve any issue just in a moment.
If you are in Budapest, you must check this place. One real Hungariqum. Unicum. Famous sweet liquor of the Hungarians.
Im a student of alcohol and this was a treat and a surprise in one. Ive had Unicum before and was ambivalent to having again, but learning the history of the company, what the Zwack family endured to keep their recipe is amazing. I have a new found and deep respect for this spirit which I will spread to whomever is willing to listen. I would highly recommend going to the distillery and learning for yourself though! Off the beaten track for tourists, but worth seeking out for those interested in history, politics, and alcohol. Really interesting and cool.
Wonderful place. Wonderful People. And the meal was delicious. But dont have to much Unicum, ;-)
The museum is really well laid-out and the audio guide is clear and interesting (and included in entry price). The tour is quite short but there is only so much to see and it is a working distillery. Worth a visit, even the gift shop is lovely. The staff here were brilliant.
Excellent tour and a very interesting place to visit. The story of this family business which has been patronized by Royalty and heads of state for 200 years gives a feel for the many changes in central Europe. The staff are all very friendly and our guide was very knowledgeable and charming.Well worth a visit, expect to spend up to 2 hours here.
Small museum with some really interesting items and a great audio guide, wish wed had more time to spend there. Interesting to learn about Hungarian history thorough the experiences of the Zwack family. The tour was great too with a lovely guide and an opportunity to try Unicum.
The guide explains shortly the 13 known ingredients, a short walk into the distillery, 2 paxs of Unicum, 20 mins film and museum tour. 1hr max. But make sure you buy the Unicum there as its cheapest.
Very interesting visit! The short film, tastings and museum really tell the story. It was a fun experience!
Really fun and informative. My favorite part was getting to smell all the different spices. That and the old advertisements and bottle collection.
*Required* visit for all tourists, this tour gives a real sense of a family through six generations, through wars, having what they built taken from them by the government, starting new in America, buying the original building and rebuilding again in Hungary, into the modern day with highest quality products and the best marketing Ive ever seen plus one of the largest collection of mini alcohol bottles in Europe. The family has kept their recipe secret for over 200 years and continually cared for the community through various contributions.
A nice place to spend time if you are in Budapest. Friendly staff, nice story and a awesome tour of the factory.
The museum is amazing: it deserves more than 5 stars. The story of Zwack family is so inspiring and such an amazing example of the resistance to life obstacles. The museum is extremely beautiful and entertaining. Tasting is great as well, of course. Generally, it is an experience which deserves your time in Budapest. Dont miss the shop :)
The todays guided tour by Kata Kánya, Rosina Wossala and Sándor Zwack was a great pleasure and a one time experience!
Good history and background of how Unicum comes about and resilience to stay in business. Creatively create more flavors and lets face it that it’s an acquired taste for the wine that is to help your stomach.
A very interesting place, the home of the famous Hungarian liquor. The visitors may see and smell some of the ingredients, learn about the history of the family, take a walk in the cellars and taste the cask strength version of Unicum. The museum offers a lot to see and read - about everything related to the Zwack company. In the merch shop you can buy a lot of memorabilia, Unicum itself and other spirits as well.
Discovering Unicum factory. We purchased a Hop on Hop off pass during our last full day in Budapest. Ultimately, we stopped at the Zwack Unicum Museum because it was a designated stop. We actually recommend the Hop on Hop off in Budapest, because some of the main points are dispersed. So its a quick way to access and discover the main attractions. We never heard from Unicum prior to visiting Budapest. So this got us curious about the famous drink from Hungary. We decided to give it a shot and we are happy to have discovered. Just to be clear, the museum is on the route but there is still a fee to enter. FYI, it was approximately $10 CAD to enter. The tour.During your tour, you will get the typical information about the factory, the history and how they got started. There is a guide that shows you an overview of the receipt and herbs they use. There is a specific way to store and treat the ingredients and of course a taste test of two types of Unicum liquor. Personally I (Elithought really strong but Serge seemed to like it!Near the end of the tour, they bring you to an old artifacts room. This is where they keep all the different bottles used over time, Unicum advertising, etcThey also have a gift shop. So if you want, theres a possibility to bring a Unicum souvenir back home.Serge: 4+ Eli: 4Do we recommend: Yes, we really liked the experience. Its something new and unique from the city of Budapest.Tips:1. Check the hours of operation. They were very accommodating since we arrived right at the cutoff time2. Get ready ! Because this drink is strong
It is a unique place where you can see the history of the famous Zwack company and also see an impressive amount of their competitions products. If you are interested in different types and shapes of bottles, this is your place to visit.
A hidden gem. This place was recommended by my brother in laws Hungarian cleaner and it was really interesting. The old distillery with all the old barrels was really cool. The drink itself is something of an acquired taste but the history of the factory and the family is amazing.I was strangely taken by their huge collection (thousandsof miniature bottles.
This was such a fun museum! I went in late August, on a day that may have reached 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and stepping inside the museum made the day so much better. They have a tasting of the two different kinds near the beginning of the tour, which, on a hot day, could definitely impact your perception of the rest of the exhibits. Nevertheless, I dont think Ive been as interested in the particular regalia of a certain drink company in my life.
New appreciation for Unicum after taking a tour, trying a couple samples of fresh liquor from the barrel, and learning the cool history of Peter Zwack and family.
Interesting introduction to Unicum if youre uninitiated like I was. Theres quite a bit of history and little details covered - mostly about the Zwack family, and about the Zwack liqueurs. This visit/tour would be most interesting to fans of Zwack and Unicum in particular.Glad to have the chance to try the two most popular flavours with the tasting. It is understandable how these have a loyal following. The taste is certainly unique and very complex - you can make out all the flavours of the herbs and spices that you got to see, touch and smell at the entrance to the distillery. It is an acquired taste though and I havent yet acquired the taste.Dont miss the impressive collection of miniature liqueur bottles from all around the world.
A bit dislocated but possibly one of the most interesting liquer museum ive ever seen. The collection of small bottles of liquer is impressive! Very interesting the story of the zwack family and learning about liquer production process. Free tasting :p
