Sprawling zoo featuring a wide variety of animals in open-air habitat zones, plus play areas & eats.
We took our two-year-old boy there and had a good time. Its not just a zoo but also a beautifully designed park. I can tell the people who manage this zoo really are trying their best to provide a nice environment to not only the visitors, but most importantly, the animals. There are also 3 playgrounds in this zoo and plenty of resting areas where you can sit and eat. They even have space for picnics. If you dont want to bring your own food, there are also restaurants and cafes where you can buy food at a reasonable price. We would definitely love to visit there again soon.
Vast variety of animals to see. The animal enclosures are very big for Japanese standards.
beautiful zoo with huge well-thought out enclosures for the animals. downside though is that some animals are alone in a huge enclosure makes them look like theyre lonely. but all in all the zoo is very beautiful and has the most humane (in my opinionenclosures that i have ever seen in a zoo. the whole feel of the zoo is that of a forest with trekking pathways leading you to see the animals.entrance fee is very cheap, 800¥ for adult and 200¥/300¥ for kids. there are restaurants inside but theres no problem if you bring your own drinks and food or obentos.best enclosures for me and the kids:polar bear, penguins, sealwhat to look out for:the rare OKAPI(with only 22,000 left all over the world.)parking fee:1000¥
Colorful animals, Green environments. Good option for weekends. Need one full day to cover the entire zoo by walk.
The best zoo in the Yokohama/Tokyo area. Open and spacious. You forget where you are while exploring all the elegantly designed biomes. A must visit for parents, very child friendly.
Nice place to visit with family
Visited the zoo on Mountain Day at around 1300. No queues and no congestion. My family and I had a great time. Food at the Aussie Hill Grill restaurant is a bit expensive but delicious. Great place for kids
This is our third time to visit - but the first time to visit their Night Zoo. It definitely feels different during the day. Interesting, entertaining and captivating. Would recommend these for families or even for couples who would want to enjoy a lovely time exploring.
Perfect to spend the whole day in family. Can walk relaxed, toilets are frequent and food was nice. There is a plauground too with some slides.
The zoo was large however, some of the animals looked quite thin. Example, there was a lion in one of the enclosed window exhibits that looked extremely thin, almost sick. Same with the polar bear. There was also a bunny exhibit but it was so high bordered by bushes that I had to hold my kids up to see it. The paths were not very stroller friendly. And there should be better pest control in the bathroom because my wife and I couldn’t change our baby due to a 7 inch spider lurking near the table. The plus side is that they had every animal on the map and it was nice enough weather, they all came out.
Beautifully green zoo in Yokohama, perfect for families with kids, reasonably priced with decent food!I went with my family by car with two babies (2,5 years old and 1.5 years old on Golden week (3 times more people than usual ), it was pretty crowded but still spaced out, not as crowded as Disneyland !The zoo is pretty big and the great thing was that there was so much green so it’s very refreshing and pleasant to walk around even with kids! There are different places to eat and rest and a lot of restrooms so it’s very practical !We ate at the African corner curry 🍛 specialty of African food. The taste was decent. They also have kids plate. The prices of the dishes are between ¥600 and ¥1700. Coffee is ¥350 and decent taste. There are terraces tables and Inside, both !There are multiple parkings and it costs ¥1000 (after payment ).There are two entrances (main entrance and north entrance ). And the buses only take off and arrives at the main entrance so please watch out! There are lots of animals from different species and their explanations in japanese and English which is great 👍🏻 even though it’s kind of sad to see some of the animals pretty frustrated ….😞But it’s interesting and exciting for the kidsThere are lots of playgrounds from kids as well so it’s good for the parents! It takes 1h30 by train and bus from TOKYO.I recommend you to go by car as it’s faster. The park is from 9:30 am to 16:30.A must try! Advice you to go in the morning as the park is pretty big to enjoy !
Good get away place for a family. Kids will enjoy this place.
Fun zoo in Yokohama…not as big as the zoo in Ueno, but still a lot of fun for the family!
Nice zoo with great green and colorful areas.
Fun place to be with your kids (or even otherwise).. The zoo has a variety of animals and the park is well maintained. Not many eat-out options...However, since the park has reopened after the pandemic, entry is only by advanced reservation. So dont go out on a Sunday without a reservation!! If you reach early though, you can try your luck with a reservation on the spot with your smartphone. It takes just a minute to do it...
A good place for family with little kids. The zoo is pretty spacious and it may take more than one day if you want to have a completed tour inside. There are several playgrounds that kids will be mad with. The food served in the restaurant is tasty enough and price is affordable as well.
Amazing zoo near Yokohama with over eight different animal habitats. We really enjoyed our time here and the only complaint was we didnt make it to all of the exhibits because we arrived around 1400 and it closes at 1630. Make sure you arrive early in the morning when they open the gates at 930 so you can see everything. Also, its quite a walk to go from one side to the other so make sure you wear comfortable clothes, check the weather and bring some water. It costs ¥800 to enter for an adult and children under the age of elementary school are free. I highly recommend you visit with your family.
We loved it. Great family experience and plus it has some of the best theme parks of any zoo I can think of!
This place is more of a childrens park than zoo (there are several playgrounds within the zoo premises). Its a large zoo, but for the size, there were few interesting attractions. Some of the animals werent visible when we went.
Amazing synergy of zoo and playground. Easily you can spend whole day here. You can pay with credit card for the entry but all food and parking (when leaving parkneed to be paid with cash. There is no ATM inside, nearest one is 1 km away.
Fun for the whole family. This perfect zoo is not to be missed.
Far and away the best zoo in Kanagawa.Spacious and natural environments for the animals. It will take you several hours to see all this zoo has to offer.
I went there during the summer vacation which was the humidity was too high. But then, the zoo has trees that eliminate the too much warm of the place. They have variety of animals which are divided according to their habitat. I really recommend this place to the parents who want to let their children enjoy the nature. If you get tired of walking to the different parts of the zoo, you dont have to worry about it as they have a lot of benches which you can take rest if get exhausted. You can also buy snacks along the way of ever you feel thirsty or hungry.By the way I purchased my ticket online via tripadvisor. It was 975yen.
A very big zoo with lots of animals (Zooasia)Pro: Fair price, a lot of animals in different areas, stroller rentals, play ground for the children, easily a half day or more outing with the family.Con: Actual destination requires driving a car or taxi, but if youre lucky you can catch a bus to the entrance (google maps doesnt accurately tell you that), not too many benches to sit down and watch the animals, so youll be on your feet a lot, lots of bugs so bring bug spray.Summary: One of the better zoos Ive been too. A wide variety of animals ranging from elephants to polar bears, and cheetahs to orangutans. Children were amazed at seeing so many different kinds of animals in one place. Highly recommend and would go again.
I love this zoo. So many fun animals, childrens play areas are all over the place, the food is super cheap and delicious and best of all, kids are free on the weekends! If you have little ones you can rent a stroller from the park for very cheap and the park is beautifully designed. I love coming here.
This zoo covered a large area and feels like a park with many area. The animals habitats are much larger than most zoos in Japan. There is a large playground in the middle of the zoo which is very fun. It has a climbing zone, slides, zip line, and picnic areas. Exploring the zoo at a comfortable pace will take most of the day. The zoo is very accessable for strollers and wheelchairs. All exhibits have level access, ramps. The few observation platforms that are high above ground level also have elevators. You can enter the zoo from two directions and there is a shuttle bus between the ends of you dont want to walk back to your car. Parking is ¥1000 flat rate and paid when you exit. You can pay at the exit using cash or buy an exit ticket with a credit card if you want. Prepare for a long wait if you leave at closing time.
Great place to spend your day with family and friends. They have many unique animals and birds.Play area restaurants and camping area are the best.Huge park. Definitely visiting again soon
My first time seeing an Amur Leopard up-close and personal. It was a really beautiful and memorable trip to Zoorasia and to Japan, due to the other animals which can be found there as well. Will definitely visit again!!!
Great place to visit if you plan to spend the day. There are so many great animals. Kids just love it here. Lot of empty spaces to have your own picnic spot. Entry is relatively cheap at 800 ¥
Wonderful zoo experiences. My baby love the zoo so much. Especially the kids play area. The restaurant inside the zoo also served good food. A lot of area for picnic too. The area was really huge, make sure you are wearing a good pair of shoes for long walk.
A nice zoo in city area. Quite big. Most animals are not in traditional cages, but in their own small piece of jungle.
I liked that they could be with other animals (also their own species).I also liked that they had the sky above them. They have glass windows in the perfect position that you can always see the animals well.
At night was nice, but it’s really big ,most of the time you are walking than looking animals. But it is great for to play with kids. And the food its a little overpriced but it’s good, karage is too hard to chew.
Its big and one the best zoo. Entry fee is cheap and parking charge is also reasonable. Lots of activities here and its big…can spend the whole day easily.
This is my new favorite zoo in Japan. The atmosphere is so pleasant. The walkways wind through trees and it feels like a walk through a wonderful park with great animal exhibits along the way. There isn’t the profoundly squished feeling you get from many other zoos in the region. Our kids absolutely loved it!
Very large scale, uncountable variety of animals with many one-point tips worth learning not only for kids but adults (mainly in Japanese though). You can enjoy walking in artificial forest feeling you are far away from capital area. Kids can also have fun in athletic fields between animal exhibition.
Lots of animals and very well laid out. All the feeding is explained in japanese but still good experiance. Make sure you attend the lion feeding!! Remeber to take the bus back to the main gate. Lots of playgrounds washrooms and sitting area. Spend the whole day there!!
Zoorasia is the largest animal wildlife park, and is well worth the trip. The facility is as beautiful as it is expansive, with lush greenery and flowers everywhere. The environments for each of the animals are made to mimic their natural habitat as much as possibles, and for the most part they appear to be content and very well cared for. One caveat is because the distances you need to walk, small children can tire out. Rest time needs to be built into the schedule.
Very big zoo! Nice place for kids...No gorilla 🦍 and no Hippopotamus🦛 !maybe I didn’t find them...😅
Great zoo! Much larger enclosures than other Japanese zoos weve seen, and by zoo standards, the animals appeared happy. Big too! It was pretty much deserted when we were there, and we still only covered half of it in 2.5 hours. Nicely landscaped too.
Amazing zoo! Great for children. There are also very well placed rest areas along the path.
This is the best place for family experience, Nice gift shops great food. The park is pretty big can spend the whole day easily.
My first time visiting a zoo in Japan and this place is amazing. I felt like a kid again looking around the animals and the environment itself. I would recommend this place for everyone.
Its very beautiful place and large, when come here i feel like in the real jungle, it takes 2 hour for me to explore all of this place..The only zoo in japan that have okapi (Half Zebra)
Only ¥800 to get in. Great value! Also the park is surprisingly large. Just walking around for one loop without looking at anything can easily take 20+ minutes.Great place to spend time to look at animals and also not that crowded. Animals there also have the largest and most comfy enclosures I’ve ever seen in a zoo.
Awesome place for both children and adults. Very spacious grounds with rest areas and playground in between. Most signs are written in both Japanese and English.
Nice zoo!Animals are sparsely spaced apart so the view isnt up close for many of the animals I visited, but it does give a better sense of the habitat they live in so its actually a great safari like feeling to it.
The place is wide and there are lot of space to watch the animals comfortably. But be sure to bring not just snacks but meals as well.
Great zoo close to Tokyo. Lots of animals to see and not crowded. Small park inside where kids can play as well.
The biggest zoo in 関東(Kanto, near tokyoarea. Best place to watch the "Okapi". It tooks for a long time to see everything around. Kids gonna be excited!
