Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Soroti

We were with a guide call Moses and he make a very short tour. Ask for many for nothing. (More than the 50$ we already pay it was bed expanse.

They are doing a great job in reintroducing the rhino, and the chance to see these animals so close is unforgettable.

We spent a great time visiting Ziwa Rhino Santuary. Was a nice experience to see Rhinos and the walking was really nice. The Rangers do a explanation about them. We hope they don’t need to protect them from pochers ans we hope they could be reintroduced in the wild soon.

I loved every moment spent here, so informative and such a beautiful spot to see these gorgeous white rhinos! The staff were amazing and kind and I would highly recommend anyone visiting Uganda to go out of their way to visit this place! (Went in Sept 2019)

One of the best things you can do in Uganda. Extremely worth going and staying there overnight. Eating your dinner in a company of rhinos is something you will never forget ;and also great staff!! Super nice and helpful - just go and find out :)

A lovely place to spot rhinos and shoebilled stork. The guides and rangers are all very helpful and knowledgeable which adds to the experience. On top of that, Saleem and his staff also add to the experience. He and the rest will go the extra step and made our stay more then worth it, and he personally really helped us out with some transportation issues. Go and stay for at least a night!!

Just got back from Uganda and had the pleasure of staying here. Absolutely love what they are doing for conservation efforts for reintroducing rhinos into the national parks. You have to give the Rangers credit as they do 24 hour shifts to protect the Rhinos. Out there by themselves in all weather. It was a great experience and Im happy to hear theyre making a positive impact. The accommodations were great, restaurant was also great. Really nice little pool to cool off in. Staff were lovely. Would love to visit again

The animals are used to be surrounded on a distance by humans, nevertheless it remains a magnificent experience to be so close to these majestic animals on foot.Given the history of this animal in Uganda, I can only have respect for the team that takes care of the Rhinos.Great location for a stopover in between Kampala and Murchison Falls NP.

Best time to come is during corona. Due to the fact that almost no one is there. The Rhinos dont go deep into the bush when they dont have people nagging them all day, we saw all 70 something rhinos including the babes. Super cool place was a lot of fun.

Fantastic experience with the Rhino 🦏 We loved the walk. I would not recommend the shoebill experience as there is rubbish all over the area, oil on the swap water and plastic bottles in the water. We were also told the construction of the bridge has scared the local wildlife (hence not a 5⭐️ experience)

A dream of a place in every way. It’s a really professional and serious wildlife conservancy, full of passionate and knowledgeable staff who care so much about protecting the rhinos and giving clients a great experience. From helping us with logistics beforehand (thanks so much to Saleem the awesome managerto their welcome the minute we arrived, the delicious food, the unbelievably cool rhino tracking experience we had, everything was 5*. There were rhinos around the dining area late at night was was so so cool, and earlier in the evening there were warthogs and lots of other animals so close by. The rhinos were even there for breakfast in the morning! Ziwa was one of the highlights of our month long Uganda trip.

"Must see" place for all visitors keen on nature. The unique chance to approach rhinos by feet and observe them from short distance. One of a kind experience.

We had an excellent time at the Ziwa Rhino Wildlife Ranch. We (pretty last minutedecided to stay the night here and was the best choice to make. They were really accommodating (even while we were arriving lateto help us get settled in and make us dinner. The room was really pretty and cozy with ample warm water in the shower. Unfortunately we didnt see a shoebill in the morning (50/50% change), but plenty of Rhinos. They even came up in the evening to sleep on the grass in front of the lodge. Definitely recommend this.

The Sanctuary is an incredible project. Seeing the rhino in the wild gives hope for global conservation efforts. The rangers are doing a great job.

This an amazing, must-see place.I first stumbled upon Ziwa in Jan 2018 and insisted that we stop. We spent 7 wonderful hours there.We were able to -safely - get so close to these magnificent creatures - it was a life-changing experience. 100% recommended.Then I had the opportunity to return two months later with my wife, and it was just as amazing.The sanctuary and its Rangers are doing such a fantastic job they absolutely deserve our support.Thank you Ziwa.

If you have ever seen rhinos anywhere and you are on a budget, dont come. Yes, the guides were brilliant. But after having spent 2 weeks in Uganda, having been on countless game drives and other activities (and so being able to make comparisons), I have to say that it is not worth the money. We were taken to the mother and baby and basically that was it. Again as with the lodge, this is management issue, they have grown too comfortable.

Throughout my previous 4 months in East Africa I hadnt been opportuned to see Rhinos in the parks I visited. Ziwa is perfect for this. The Ranger takes you to where you can watch the White Rhinos at close proximity. Its really cool and humbling to watch these beauties do their thing graze, walk around and chill

The sanctuary is quite beautiful for an outdoor adventure. Seeing the Rhinos was a whole new experience.Theyre majestic animals.Overall the experience is worth it.However the trekking only lasts an hour and after that theres not much to do.The guides are friendly and the food is good,although the portions are quite small especially after you trek through the bush.Haha! The bathroom hygiene needs to be worked on.The only way to have fun is to make this a group activity.Carry your own music players and mats.Or do this on your way to another activity up North.

Ziwa is nice place with a few antelopes and more of rhinos I just saw 3 male and female mother.

The only place to see Rhinos in Uganda. Couldnt believe how close they were. At night they come right up to camp so staying a night is worth it. Rooms were quite comfortable and the food offered at the restaurant was good.$50 US for the permit can be a bit steep but its going to the sanctuary to help further protect the animals so its money well spent.

Amazing place, they do really care about the animals in the sanctuary. Unlike many other places, you can be a 100% sure that your money is well used. It is a life changing experience!!

Amazing place. The rhino tracking is a must-do activity for any visitor here. We got to see three different rhino families. The walk is very easy and Id say even people not so good on foot could easily manage.We stopped for a night on our way from Kampala to Murchison Falls and spent the night at the camping grounds inside (10 USD per person). The camping grounds are beautiful and well-kept, and warthogs, various antelopes and sometimes even rhinos walk around the camping area.

The sanctuary certainly seems to have a very successful breeding program for white rhinos. The guide was very knowledgeable and the rhinos surprisingly allowed us to get very close

Staff were very friendly and welcoming.. we managed to see 5 Rhinos - including the youngest Rhino on the sanctuary. This was amazing because we arrived at 11.30am on a hot day.

Theyre doing a honourable job needing rhinos to eventually reintroduce back into the Ugandan wilderness where rhinos existed till the early 80s. One can go looking for them on foot and theyre not perturbed by people as there are armed guards with them 24/7. Amazing creatures that need to be saved

The ranger found the rhinos fast, could give a lot of information. The lodges are nice, but on the more expensive side. Worth it though!

You got to go here! The staff are wonderful, the restaurant was good and most importantly the rhinos were amazing. Our guide Robert, was awesome. Super knowledgeable, friendly and so passionate about educating us on rhino conservation.If I had known ahead of time, I would have stayed the night at the accommodation there. Loved this place.

The Rhinos in Uganda were extinct due to political instability & high demand for them by Chinese who attach its horn to many uses. It seats on 70acres & was donated by Ziwa family to conserve the rhinos. The rhinos were got from Kenya & USA & have kept multiplying to date. They have a total of 23 & hope to make 50 before they can release them to the parks. Much as the main emphasis is on rhinos, there other species like leopards, bush backs, antelopes etc that share home with the rhinos.

We saw 7 different rhinos (one newbornthrough a short walk from the lodge. Amazing!

I cannot recommend Ziwa enough. This white rhino sanctuary was the highlight of our time in Uganda. After a short drive into the park, we walked for about 20 minutes its before seeing 4 adult females. Shortly after, a male arrived and a standoff between the elder female and the young bull ended in the bull leaving the females alone. We were about 4 meters from the females at one point. The guide was amazing, both professional and funny. All the while, he was cognizant to keep us safe. This is a must see if you are visiting uganda.

Loved the work that they are doing to build up the Rhino population in Uganda. Eventually they will release them back in to the wild. You can get really close and the rangers are so knowledgeable about them.

Spent a fantastic time here White Rhino trekking. We were supplied with wellies, as it was damp under foot, and a ranger.We soon spotted a large male resting in the shade of a tree. The ranger was well acquainted with each rhino and their behaviour. We saw 8 including a baby. They are increasing in number here which is a good sign.

Great organization! And the Rhinos were everywhere. Woke up to them in the camp even! Rooms were a bit hot, but the facility was nice. Great for an overnight stay! And I highly recommend the pangolin evening walk!

Absolutely INCREDIBLE. Get up close and personal with Rhinos, no safari vehicle. Very knowledgable staff and even a nice room to rent. Prices are fare for Uganda.

If you wanna get out of town for a weekend or commune with nature any this place is great with moderately priced accommodation- though not very comfortable ...but its exciting to see the Rhinos in the wild
