Zino's Greek and Mediterranean in El Paso
Description
Privilege
I loved the dish of the day!Very good portion size and fresh food. The owner was very welcoming and had a nice chat. The place could use some ventilation to get ride of the cooking smoke, but I bet the outdoor tables are amazing during the beautiful weather this time of the year.
MoreVery good gyro, salad, and fries!
Can’t say enough about this wonderful place! We love it! Just wished it was open a little later.
MoreSuper delicious gyro! Very fresh lettuce and tomatoes, and the generous portion of lamb was perfect. Well definitely be back!
MoreBest greek food i have had in awhile. The gyro was the spectacular
Their website is offline, their phone number just goes to a full voicemail, Facebook and Instagram havent been updated since 2020, and when they are open theyre open at extremely limited times. Even though they say on their door and online till 8:00 or 9:00 at night, they have a handwritten note that says we close at 3:00 p.m. thats great if they actually came back at 4:00 p.m. like the sign says. However its completely dark, and its only 6:30. its such a shame because the food is really good, but its not great when you drive 20 minutes to pick up food for your family just to find out they close early and they dont have any media presence or phone number to contact to know whats going on with them. Youre better off trying to find a more reliable restaurant until they can get this stuff straightened out. And its not a one-time deal, it has happened multiple times before, and even they close earlier or stop orders so they can try to shut down early and leave. Its such a shame, they truly do have excellent food. Too bad you can barely have a chance to get it
MoreIve tried greek before and went to Greece as well 🇬🇷At this location the food is absolutely disgustingThe burger did not come with fries like I ordered and was so oily that I couldn’t keep the burger in my hand .Tried the spanakopita and it was same as oily and so so salty !!!Very disappointed!!!!!
MoreUpdate: 3 years later and this is still our favorite gyro restaurant in town. Different staff in there recently but same great service and great quality. Staff is always kind.Tried this Zinos out for takeout after going to bigger one on the west side. Staff was friendly, food was quick and it was delicious. Great place for good Greek food here in El Paso!
MoreSo delicious! Our new Favorite go to restaurant!!! Amazing seasoning and favors together! Highly recommend! Got the chicken sand which. 🤤 and baklava
MoreDelicious, highly recommend this Greek establishment if you are ever in the El Paso area. Great food and great customer service.
MoreFood was good, gyros were delicious and fresh but the price per gyro was a little pricey. The prices over all are too much for this area I mean charging 5$ for baklava and 54 cents for extra sauce is a lot especially when the servings werent large. Overall restaurant is clean and serves are nice and food is good.
MoreStopped by for a quick lunch and had the Gyro Sandwich Combo-cone beef & lamb served with fresh Romaine, tomato, onion in pita bread topped off with Tzatziki sauce. The combo came with a beverage of choice and fries, not pictured because I took them to go. The owner/cook I believe, greets you when you enter and thanks you for your business upon leaving. It was a very satisfying, healthy meal.
MoreDo not order from this restaurant. They are very unprofessional and will not have food available for delivery. Uber drivers do not get paid for waiting. 10-15 minute wait???? Gtfo
MoreGreat food and service! I had the Gyro platter and the Baklava and it was amazing!
MoreAs always, Zino’s has amazing food and great service. Staff is really friendly and awesome.
MoreMy husband and I come here very often and we love the food but today I ordered the falafel and it was completely burnt! It tasted so bad I was very disappointed, I’ve been craving them for a while!
MoreOne of the best places to get Mediterranean food at El Paso. Personal recommendation, falafels and gyros.
MoreI ordered a a chicken souvlaki sandwich, Zinos fry, as well as a baklava for dessert, and a side of tzatziki. When I say that theit tzatziki is some of the best that I have had I truly mean that. The Zinos fries are perfectly seasoned. The chicken souvlaki was well filled, perfectly seasoned chicken, the vegetables were crisp and fresh, the pita was warm and soft. I have searched high and low for a restaurant that offers a baklava that tastes just like the one from home and I can tell you with certainty that Zinos baklava is that. They give you a sizable portion for the baklava. It is thick, it is rich in flavor, the sweetness is not overpowering like many other restaurants make the mistake of doing. I cannot wait to order again from Zinos.
MoreVisiting El Paso and tried this restaurant few minutes ago. This is place is the place to go if you are looking for good authentic, yummy, flavorful mediterranean food. The gyros were large and yummy. My kids mac n cheese portion were huge. The lentil soup was soooo delicious. But ABOVE all the service was top notch. 1 server who was up and down on her feet and so busy, 1 awesome dish washer and 2 awesome cooks. It was worth the tip. Thank you and we will be back
MoreI ordered through door dash today for delivery and I waited an hour for my food to be made. My dasher was already outside the restaurant waiting for the food and this restaurant canceled my order. It’s extremely frustrating when the hours are not posted correctly and my money is wasted . The food looked good and I was looking forward to it.
MoreThis is probably my favorite restaurant in El Paso. Everytime I visit its amazing. Simple salads are just delicious. Meat is tender. Gyros are perfect. Everything is great. Even the kids plates are delicious. My daughter had the Mac and cheese and its made to order, super creamy and fresh. I would recommend this place. Light, filling, very delicious and great service.
MoreI absolutely love the food here. From the gyros with lamb, Athenian salads, the shish kebabs, Lamb Osso Buco, Moussaka, its all so delicious! First time dining in, and Im greeted with classical music. I feel like more restaurants should follow through with this too. This place is awesome all around and never had issues with to go orders. 10/10 would recommend!
MoreTaste good but small portions I spent 17.99 I thought I would get a full size meal but they gave me this little bowl
MoreWhat the hek happened to this place?? I got the $15.99 "Chicken Kabob Platter." I used to come here and get this exact same thing except it was 2 actual kabobs of grilled chicken and veggies. Not a few nuggets of chicken and burned zucchinis and peppers in a giant bed of rice. They really should just call this the rice and pita platter... I also got the dolmas which had barely any rice in it and the grape leaves were so stringy and thick. I ordered take out since thats their only option right now, so I had no idea I walked out spending $23 on a box of extremely unsatisfying food until I got home, which is a 20 minute drive from the restaurant. Its safe to say that was my last time going there. This is unacceptable.
MoreAmazing Greek/Mediterranean food right here in El Paso and walking distance from the airport! Excellent traditional food fare prepared the right way with great service! Also, Alex is charming and stunning waitress who is the perfect compliment, proverbial cherry on top, to the rest of the extraordinary staff!
MoreGood to be able to dine in again. The food was great.Good energy with the kitchen crew and wait staff. We went with our old standbys for tonight. Gyros and an order of hummus. The adventure was trying a custard dessert that was not familiar. Nice combination of citrus and cinnamon.
MoreGreat Greek food! Huge fan of the orange sauce! The customer service here is stellar!
MoreZion’s, one of the best Greek places in town. Great food, great service and reasonably priced. Food was delicious with portions being generous. Lunch gets busy so be there early to get a seat cause it fills up quick. We had the gyro and k-bobs, it was delish! Definite must place to try out.
MoreZometimeZ, ZINOs iZ ZatiZfyingly Zuper! We called ahead to ensure that the outstanding eatery had not been shut down by the cursed COVID19 pandemic crisis, placed our order for two gyro sandwiches, a small tour of Greece plate, and extra tazhiki sauce. It was listed under “Juanito” (my other handlefor easy pickup when I cycled there some ~5miles/8kms within 45 minutes. (Within the past year, when it was under my given handle, “John”, I picked up the wrong order!Anyway, there was no mistaking my purchase/pick up this time.As usual, these pita-filled delights are rather huge and we had to slice them into two, making a future delicious meal. This fine eatery certainly has my coveted “iWheel of Approval!”
MoreSmall, with limited seating. Food was fantastic! There were a lot of to go orders being picked up in addition to the tables who were eating in, and the one girl who was working did a great job of getting everyone taken care of in a timely manner. Definitely recommend.
MoreAmazing and delicious food!!! This is the first time I have ever tried Mediterranean food. My wife and I enjoyed the Gyro Platter and the pistachio baklava. I highly recommend this restaurant. I will definitely be returning to this location. It may seem pricey but worth every penny.
MoreGreat place to satisfy your gyro craving ot just have a quick lunch.
The first 4 items I wanted to order were sold out. When I got my lamb burger it was soaked in oil- Pretty gross and disgusting. Lamb burger is suppose to be juicy not doused in grease. The baklava tastes like a cinnamon stick, it’s suppose to taste like honey and nuts. Also, the falafels are small and dry.I wish I had gotten my money back but left so upset I didn’t want to remember that lunch.
MoreWe ordered 2 meatlovers platters. We were surprised at the total being $40 but we really wanted to try it. The gyro meat, pita bread and salad was very good. But the chicken and lamb Kabob was very dry and hard to chew. For $40, I really should have juicy meat. IF we ever decide to go back, well probably just stick with the gyros
MoreStaff very nice and helpful. Food was plentiful but only OK. I had lemon chicken, rice, salad, with gyro meat. Rice was over cooked in a rather salty broth but it was a high quality rice. The chicken was a perfectly cooked leg quarter, but not seasoned. The lemon dressing/sauce was on the side and it was definitely tasty. IF the the rice, chicken and lemon could be mixed... but that was a lot of work since the chicken was on the bone and there wasnt enough of the sauce. The gyro sauce was tasty but missing something.Nothing Ive mentioned is enough to give the restaurant a complete pass. It was good enough to MAYBE be just what someone else is wants.
MoreThe food is ok and the portions are small. The waitress they gave lack customer services and professionalism. They also charge for extra sauce but give you very little. Spend your money somewhere else there are other REAL GREEK restaurants that’s will provide you with better food and customer services. They also won’t charge you for every little thing.
MoreThe food was great had the hummus and the gyro. But on the side order of the hummus i felt a bit cheated they dont give you a whole pita and the pita they give your is cut in a pie slices. Which to me tells me one of two things. They make mini pitas for side orders or cut slices off a regular pita and give you a certain amount. I love the pita and at other places I have been to they are sold as a whole pita and you can order them fresh. Here I believe their brought in from the main store which I wasnt impressed by. We tried ordering some lasagna type looking dish but it wasnt available the waitress mentioned "when they bring us some" what? who? is this a restaurant or a what? I rather go to where everything is made at the store looks like there making it at one place and supplying food to another. I curious to find the main store. Waitress mentioned the west side.
MoreMoussaka w/ Athenian side salads was awesome, and the waitresses were the most respectful I’ve seen in a long time
MoreFirst time, just got a gyro baklava to test the place. Gyro was very large and very fresh. Baklava was good too, very sweet. Service was super fast. Not the best for a sit down, so would rather take out next time. I would go back.
MoreWe were not impressed. Our calamari was burnt. And the rice was overly salted. The staff told us the salad is pre made and it definitely tasted old. Our waitress was super friendly! And the hummus was good.
MoreLike this review if you like this review... please?Stopped in for a quick gyro and fries before heading out on an all night adventure and I loved it!Service was fastFood was goodClose to the airport!Fries come with some seasoning, so if you are the plane-Jane type be sure to put the kibosh on the culinary extras when you order.
MoreThe food and the service were both great, well definitely be going back!!!
For a first timer, I didnt know what to choose. The waitress wasnt too helpful. She said everything was good but didnt really pinpoint a suggestion. I chose the gyro platter and it came with a tasty salad with feta. The main dish had the meat and pieces of pitas and seasoned fries. The fries were also good and the texture of the pita bread was toasty and fluffy. The meat has a lot of flavor and spices and most of it is delicious. It was good, but something about it reminded me of meatballs. Lol Idkw, but it was tasty. My husband had the gyro plate and he loved it.We tried the Baklava for the 1st time and Im not sure if I like it. It seemed dry and maybe stale? Or is it supposed to be stat way. I posted a video here and you can see a struggle when cutting the Baklava. 🤷🏽♀️
MoreZinos was a great find on my way out from ELP. The falafel and hummus pita was a delight as were my side of fries. My table mate enjoyed her tabouli salad as well. The table service from Nayeli was also superb.
MoreOverall score B+. I was hungry so I forgot to take a picture. I felt like my meat was leftover because it wasnt carved slices but actually chopped up pieces like I got last nights leftovers from the bottom of the pan. Nonetheless, it was good and had a nice flavor. Ill be back to taste some of the other flavors. The menu is diverse enough for meat lovers and non meat lovers alike. Staff were pleasant and attentive. Its not European Greek food but it will do while living in El Paso. Considering that they dont have central air but swamp coolers, it can get warm but heat doesnt bother me. Had a piece of the chocolate baklava and it was definitely not fresh but it wasnt horrible, just not soft and flaky like Im used to.
MoreThis place is not good. It does not taste like Greek, more like Middle Eastern flavor. I did not taste the Mediterranean at all.I would not recommend!
MoreThe Westside store is probably my absolute favorite restaurant in El Paso. So I was excited to try their central-ish location. At the time of this review the menu was not the same one as the Westside. No problem there (which the waitress informed me that the full menu is coming later this monthbecause the food was delicious. You can accurately describe Zinos as a packed hole in the wall with great food. Parking and space is a nightmare to get in and out of during high traffic times.
MoreGreat gyros! Delicious chefs special. Overall a great taste.
Honestly, this place is good, but its a little overrated. The big positive is that the gyro sandwich is huge. I ordered the veggie platter, but the rice was covered in some sort of dressing that just did not pair well at all. In addition the waitress kept forgetting our table (there were maybe 2-3 other tablesand kept forgetting our utensils. Its an okay place, but there are far greater options elsewhere.
MoreThis place has few reviews because it just opened last year but really deserves tons of great reviews! My husband lived in Greece during his childhood and no place has come as close as Zinos did to reminding him of the countrys amazing food. The waitress was great, very attentive and had no problem explaining the menu and options. Prices are great for the amount of food you receive. All over a good place to have a casual meal with family and friends. Give it a try!
