21 Peninsula Rd, Marathon, ON P0T 2E0, Canada, Marathon
Zero-100 Motor Inn LTD - in Marathon, Canada
Total dump. Room smelled of smoke everything dirty. It was the only thing in the area with vacancy but I still would have slept in my truck if I saw and smelt the room before before I paid 200 for a night. Stay away if you can
the rooms and hallway smell like cigarette and tobacco. Although there is a rule of no smoking/no vaping but you can smell it everywhere. Not recommending this place.
We just needed a place to stop on our way through. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was dated but we felt it was clean. The bed wasn’t very comfy but we survived. They provided a little to-go breakfast which was nice.
Amazing staff. Sabrina at the front desk is absolutely amazing. She went above and beyond her job duty to make sure my stay was amazing. Im a long haul trucker and my truck broke down. Shes been my saving grace today. Promote her. Give her a raise. She deserves it all!
Clean! Good service (even late at night), fridge in the room, breakfast and coffee included. Was worried after reading some reviews but nothing to be worried about!
Marathon is a nice little town, but this motel is quite creepy. The rooms are dirty and the building is falling apart. They are cracks on the walls and roof. The service is quite not existent. The only good thing is the Chinese restaurant nearby that is really delicious.
Its fine. Clean. Quiet. Friendly staff.
We are truck drivers and our truck broke down about an hour away from Marathon Ontario late Saturday evening the staff were so accommodatingthey let us check in, in the early morning. And when our truck was still not ready to they let us use the conference room till our truck was up and running so great full to them for all the help. Rooms are also very comfortable and pet friendly also. Thanks to all the staff
Took 5 days for them to clean the garbage I had piled in bags by the door so I stuck it outside. 16 days they vacuumed once changed bed sheets once. Avoid this joke show if you can.
Want the thrill of living on the edge? Want to feel the history in every facet of your hotel stay? This is the place for you!The rooms are ~modest~, many parts of the rooms are at or past their end of life, lamps had no bulbs, the tub was questionable, the beds were very broken in, but its a genuinely pet friendly place to rest your head and hopefully live to see the next day!
It is a little out dated and I couldnt quite get the room to be a comfortable temperature. They did have the only vacancy around which was a life saver for me. Even though they couldnt have much open with restrictions, they still put in effort to provide a bag with some breakfast snacks which was nice.
Sabrina from the afternoon shift is super awesome, lovely rooms, fairly comfortable beds
Hmm where to begin with this one, I would suggest skipping this hotel. I called ahead to make sure there was availability and because I have a dog, told no worries see you in 5 hours, Im traveling from Alberta to NB. Drive an extra 2 hours to stay in Marathon, got there and was told they had no pet friendly rooms left (14 hours of drivingthey accommodated us but I know now why it wasnt pet friendly room, leave foot wear on and let nothing touch the floor. 150$ for less then 8 hours, thin walls, run down, needs paint, flooring and a good plasterer (which I do for a living), it could be a wonderful hotel if someone cared about it, sad.
Hwy.17 was closed west of Marathon.Stopped at first motel on right.Nice staff both evening and early morning.Warm and quiet room.Rates are comparable to other motels in Northern Ont.
Nice place. Clean rooms and very comfortable beds. Friendly staff. Would stay here again anytime.
The woman at the front desk was lovely and very helpful! The walls however were very thin and I was kept up until late by the noise in the motel (midnight or laterand then woken up very early (around 5amby the sounds of people as they left. Room seemed to me expensive for the quality of stay I had, but works for an overnight in a pinch.
Reasonably priced rates, very clean and the Staff was excellent. Sabrina went above and beyond when she checked us in. She was very friendly and professional. Her recommendations didnt disappoint. Yes the hotel is dated but it was super clean. We would highly recommend stopping here for the night.
Very old motel, smelly, bathtub is rusty and gross. Very expensive for this kind of place. Out of 4 other motels we stayed in this was the most expensive and not worth it at all.
Rooms were pretty gross, didn’t take our shoes of the entire time. Hallways were dirty and stained rugs.Front desk staff was absolutely miserable. Spoke rudely to costumers. Messed up reservations, was almost without a room for a nigh after repeatedly checking that they had the correct dates. If they hate people so much maybe the customer service business isn’t for them. 😞
Excellent front desk staff. The rooms are ok, clean and basic. The check in experience was excellent. Pet friendly!
The worst hotel I have ever visited in my life, the mattress is a broadband, I literally had to sleep on the floor because it was more comfortable than the bed, the blanket was torn, the bathroom completely neglected and rusty and the worst the price, too expensive for a hotel that doesnt deserve even one star.Terrible experience!!!I went to this place to rest for one night and now I am more tired and in addition to this, I am angry and disappointed.
Stayed one night upon entry of the room and first glance was OK had a few small problems (the trim around the room was carpet and had been torn partially off the walls, the beds were not dressed, Oh well.Fast forward to when I dropped something on the ground and looked under the bed to see an old sheet, plastic cutlery, and pieces of what i assumed used to be an apple. When i brought this to the attention of the front desk I was informed he would make a note of this for the cleaners for AFTER i hAd left.
Dirty room. Soiled laundry left in the room. Told the front desk, house keeping came by, nothing Changed. Worn out beds, Shower goes back and forth between scalding andlukewarm.
Used to be good but on a recent visit within last week I could see the different compared to previous years its not in the best shape. I have been staying here over night every year about several time so the difference is noticeable. But for a quick overnight stop its an okay place with breakfast included.charges used to be less but recently ot have increased as well. Previously used to be $113 with tax but currently they charged 126.xx. so not a drastoc change but its noticeably and quality does not justify the increase as the quality have dropped.
Pros:-clean rooms-friendly staff-breakfast included-convenient location in townCons:-washroom tap goes from cold to boiling-shower sounds like an angry moped-paint peeling in the showerImpression: would stay again. People need to have realistic expectations about this place.
The room is well equipped and clean, there is everything you need. Its old and a little tired but its perfectly fine and well located.
I stayed one night but it was clean, close to the job, and affordable. Plus they are forgiving on my late check out and honest when I left my cordless mouse in the room. Nowhere else will I stay in the area...
It was located easily and no issues with check in. The price was a little out of my budget. They have some frozen meals available but they range from $6-$8. Laundry is $4 a load and charge $1 for each single pod and and single bounce sheet. So cost $6 a load(wash and dry)
This motel exists only because other hotels in the area are closed. The place is expensive and run down. Not sure why someone would rate this as a three Star hotel...The halls are dirty. The room:The Windows in the room are sealed - no fresh air ever comes in. The AC unit is from the nineties - loud! Lack of sound insulation in walls. Not maintained electrics - half the lights dont work. Bathroom taps are covered in years old oxidation and sodium...I was driving cross country and couldnt push another three hours till Thunder Bay to have a chance at a normal lodging. The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is because the place feels safe.
The place is a slum. Smells like a cigar conference was steady here from ‘67 to 2007. They have many signs saying no smoking, but just as well light one up. Heck fresh tobacco smells better than stale old tobacco smell. The bed clothes have an eighties vintage, as do the towels. No hot water and just old everything
Nice clean quiet motel. Laundry service available. Comfortable room. Not fancy but more than adequate for needs. Following into line of more environmental options and they do allow pets if given notice.
I give it a 6 outa 10. Its much improved over what the internet had reported in earlier years. Room was clean, sheets were clean and so was the wash room. It was apparent they have been working to approve the place. There was no vacancy so each unit was rented. A great continental breakfast was provided. I give it a thumbs up!
Not much choice in Marathon...thus rate was rediculous especially given the run down condition, bed was substandard. Virtually no sound proofing. Free breakfast but based on the overall impression I passed on breakfast.
They were fantastic! They had a pet friendly room for my English Bulldog and had a complementary breakfast.Unfortunately I left before I could try it, but the gesture was amazing. It was affordable and very clean with shampoos and conditioners, bar soaps!Very friendly staff and I was even able to purchase a beer until 1am.I would most definitely stay here again!Well done to this place, they are doing it right!!!!!!
Never expected that Id end up spending my weekend in Marathon, Ontario but after my van broke down the OPP dropped me off at Zero100. I was feeling very nervous traveling alone and being stranded in such a remote place, and the motel definitely isnt anything special to look at but I had to write a review because the service was just amazing. I was so stressed and upset and every single staff member went out of their way to help me out and make sure I felt safe and had a nice stay. Thank you everyone at Zero100! Youre too kind.
Our cross Canada journey landed us in this Motel for a night. I will start by saying the gal at the front desk was very nice. I believe she was new there. She was up front about the rooms being old. This is a Canadian Motel so I have to think it has been non smoking motel for many years. Let me tell you the smell in these rooms is horrible ( old Smoke ). It is like there were millions of cigarettes smoked in this place. The hallways smelt funky as well. The place is run down and it is easy to see they do not put a nickel into this place. It is Shameful really to treat guests this way. They charged us 25.00 extra for our small dog ( all the other hotels in Canada we stayed at were Max $15.00 I assure you our dog could pee in this room and you would not smell it over the smoke. I spent about $20.00 in air fresheners across the street to try and make it bearable for the night Now for the strange part, I loved the comfort of the bed. It was also the most expensive place we stayed in. We stayed in 9 different places in Canada and paid much less and got much more.:(
Not bad. Was clean. Fixtures and linen are really old. Still the room kept good temperature bed was ok and shower kept temperature. Continental breakfast is bagels, toast, muffins, cereal, make your own pancakes, and coffee. There is jam but I did not see any peanut butter.
Was okay stay. The shower/tub was awful to use. The staff were very helpful and considerate also friendly. Its convenient because its near everything in town. You can easily walk to the mall across the street.Beds were comfy, and clean.
The rooms were clean, but stunk. I will give credit the guy working reception was 100% up front about it. We stayed only because it was the only place with rooms available and we needed to crash. Beds were actually comfortable and bathrooms were clean. If you dont mind old person smoke stink wofting around you the place isnt bad.
Customer service was great, wood was consistent, the location wasnt too far from the TransCanada highway, the room had a strong odor, but the bed linen smelled fine. The bathroom needs to be updated.
Verdict: almost a comically terrible...The good: the front desk staff who greeted us was very friendly, helpful and polite. I liked him a lot. The 1 star they got is for that guy. And because I can’t give 0. Also, dog friendly. (+ $25.00)The bad: this hotel stay was offensive to all the senses. The eyes: questionable bright green carpet topped with vomit yellow walls. Ring around the tub. General lack of cleanliness. The nose: think 90s dog groomer meets porta- potty. They seriously use enough febreeze to cover almost any odour... almost. If you’re super sensitive to scents this is a BAD choice... the whole hotel reeks of air freshener. It’s also not a great choice for pets. My dog’s eager sniffing quickly devolved into sneezing and retching. You know you’re doing something right if it smells so bad you can make an animal that rolls in road kill on the reg want to throw up.The ears: staff start vacuuming bright and early. While chatting loudly. Knocked on our door 2x before check out time (11amto see if we were ready to leave.Touch: “I think my pillow might be filled with dirty diapers” - Nick.Taste - Avoid at all costs.Summary: 2 thumbs wayyy down. Pay the bit extra to stay at the airport motel!
Very pleasant desk staff. Worn out, needs TLC badly. Overpriced, poor value for accommodation provided. Squished bug on ceiling in room. Someones hair on heat register in washroom. Tub horrible. Disappointing when having a late night arrival. Continental breakfast adequate.
Very friendly staff, but there is rust or soap or other stains in the bathtub. Room slightly stuffy, but it was clean. Breakfast was great too. Overall a great place.
Road crews have taken over the areas Motels. The Motel has suffered for it. It is not an old Motel relatively and Im betting the owner will have it pristine again as the crews move on. Room rate was high. Staff were great.
We got in late at night and there were only smoking rooms left. That was okay for us but we still would have preferred non smoking. We were told that it was the last room and a suite, therefore is was more expensive than a regular room. When we were bringing our stuff in we noticed the front desk clerk moving some people from one room to another...so clearly there were still more rooms. Our suite had a deadbolt on it that worked but the chain was missing for the door. The room was pretty dirty, we didnt take our shoes off until we went to bed. Would only recommend as a last resort as the room was not worth the price we paid.
This place is very dated and could use some work in the rooms. Also, the included breakfast was quite dismal but the A&W across the street is open at 8am. That said, the bed was comfortable and clean, the water in the shower was hot, and the service was helpful. This combined with the fact it is attached to a bar with a kitchen open late would have me staying again.
Rooms were relatively clean. Water pressure in the shower was interesting. Continental breakfast was great (waffles!). Slightly less than what I expected from a north shore motel.
Located in the heart of Marathon Ontario this inn offers a great place to rest. Great customer service clean rooms. I got a sweet air conditioning, fridge and microwave plus the free breakfast with fresh waffles made for a wonderful stay. I will be back to spend a night or too on my next trip. They just reopened the restaurant Station four on the North Shore wow the food is out of this world amazing and the staff for being new are incredible
The decor is a bit dated, but its reasonably priced, clean and quiet. Good for a night stop over, but the town is small with limited eating and drinking venues. The complimentary continental breakfast is very good, with muffins, bagels, self-make waffles, porridge, cereal and fruit.
Scored a reasonably priced room on the Sat of a long weekend. While the motel is dated in decor, staff was friendly and it provided all we needed for a comfy night sleep-hot shower, bed, a/c, and waffles/breakfast in the am. Would stay here again if travelling through.
