Traditional Ethiopian food and coffee served in a relaxed and airy room with modern African art.
Booked here because of the amazing vegan choices. The staff were just so welcoming & friendly and the food was simply amazing.Cant wait for my next visit.
Wonderful experience. Lovely Ethiopian food in the south east of London. The staff were very friendly, kind and understanding. We had the Zeret special and it was a mixtures of tastes, meats and spices. Great experience.
Amazing food! Lamb was unbelievably delicious. Super nice staff. Going again!
I had a wonderful experience here in August. I went for my birthday and they were very kind and liaised with a friend to bring out a birthday cake he brought from outside. The food is delicious, full of flavour and spices. The injera was really tasty (no sournessand the had Tej (honey wine)! We did complain about a dish and they were very apologetic offering to replace; we were so full we declined- and they took it off the bill. Great food and even better service! I will be back.
Its a nice ans cosy place run by a very warm and amazing lady. The food is just yum and is surely a must visit resturant
Genuinely a 5/5 experience. Everyone on staff was super friendly and helped us with the menu and choices. The food was SO GOOD and the Ethiopian wine was a great first experience. We shared the platter between 4 people and it was ample food and deceptively filling
Group of 10 of us shared a few of the platters and I was blown away with the quality of food and the service. Will be returning very soon! Also highly recommend the coffee!
Great warming spices for a chilly evening. 2-person tasting platter is the way to go Overall a 10/10 experience, from the taste, the service, and the ambiance. Would definitely recommend.
The best Ethiopian food we’ve had in London so far, we went with our Ethiopian friends who said it was really authentic! Excellent vegan choices.
Outstanding food, very friendly service, and good authentic drinks. We got the classic platter for two, honey wine, and spicy tea. Highly recommend!
A lovely restaurant. We had great food tonight, and the atmosphere was very welcoming and relaxed. Would definitely recommend
Everytime we visit London we make sure to eat at Zeret. It’s an absolute pleasure to eat there and the owner and crew are wonderful. The food is delicious and never fails to delight all of us. We’ll come again!
Absolutely delicious! What a treat to have such a wonderful dinner while were in the UK. Amazing as always...
Incredible experience, lovely service and delicious food with quality vegetarian/vegan options. Honest pricing. Highly recommend
Been meaning to come here for ages and finally did! This platter was amazing - great value for money between the two of us and I was gutted I was too full to finish it, as it was delicious. The honey wine is also lovely! A great Ethiopian experience.
Outstanding food and service in a beautifully peaceful setting! Great coffee and popcorn too. Thank you - I really enjoyed my meal on a gorgeous sunny day in London 😀☀️👍
A beautiful place, Delicious food and wonderful atmosphere. The coffee and popcorn ceremony is worth it at least once. Great to sit outside in the summer and watch the Walworth road go by.
Best Ethiopian I have had outside of Africa. Went back again we enjoyed it so much. Some lovely wines available too.
I’ve been to Zeret Kitchen twice now and each time it’s been a wonderful experience! The staff are lovely and accommodating, the food is delicious and the portions are huge. Definitely my number one restaurant recommendation in South London :)
Lovely Ethiopian food. I had the speciality vegetarian where you can taste all the different dishes. The best
I am originally Eritrean and this was definitely the best Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurant I’ve been to in london. Service was great and food delicious. Their kategna starter was sooo delicious you must try this! Only thing I would like to see is a traditional vegan spinach dish and next time I’ll be trying the awaze tibs
Best Ethiopian in the area.Fiendly staff, huge portions and loads of options - whats not to like.If you come as a two, Id recommend the sharing platter. As a solo diner, a combo is more than enough.Make sure to book as they can be very busy in the evenings.
Incredible food, friendly staff, it smells good and its warm and fuzzy inside.
Different flavours. Different experience. The food was tasty with each dish having its own distinct flavour and the staff was very nice .
2nd time in my life trying Ethiopian food and boy did it not disappoint! Despite being really busy the service was fast and attentive, food was really tasty and unique - if you’re either vegan or vegetarian you’ll have a lot of options. For the meat lovers there’s a few options and all of them are good. Highly recommended!
Love it!! Would highly recommend. The interior is lovely and cozy. The food is amazing and halal.
This somewhat hidden restaurant could be a little hard to miss inconspicuously placed off of Camberwell Road in the commercial unit (depending where you walk from).I love Ethiopian food but am a bit unfamiliar with the names of the dishes so we ordered the house special for about £30 (£15 pp). It was an amazing choice, you get a whole injera bread with 8 different dishes and several servings on top. You break off the bread to scoop up the deliciousness, extra bread comes too. The meal was more than enough for both of us, very filling!Would have been nice to have some hand wipes or lemon water after to freshen up the hands but they do have a well kept toilet. The place is pushchair friendly as theres no problem getting into the restaurant. The 2 lovely ladies who served us were very friendly and even offered to push our son around in his pushchair while we ate. Will definitely be coming back when we move closer to the area!
I rarely give out 5 star reviews, but this one was deserving. From the very first bite I was ready to bend the knee and pledge my allegiance to the great land of Ethiopia. Words cannot describe how good this meal was. Although it was a restaurant, you can tell that the food was prepared with that homemade love and care. The flavours were married together in such perfect union that I would’ve cried tears of joy if my partner wasn’t sat opposite me.The staff were so nice and they made sure that you didnt leave until you were full, which reminded me of how my mum would make sure our stomachs were always fed. The value for money is so also hard to believe for the food that you receive. But this is also a great thing. It’s a place that doesn’t want to rip you off, but to bless you with amazing, delicious food.Honestly, i will be returning here again, and again, and again.
WONDERFUL RESTAURANT AND EXPERIENCEVery nice Ethiopian food. Menu is easy to choose from but also varied enough. Large portion, good quality and delicious flavour. A real authentic experience if you have never had ethiopian food before. The sharing zeret special for two is really nice I would definitely recommend. The owner is a really lovely woman who is so sweet. I did have to remove a star because the service was a bit slow.
This place is absolutely amazing! The food is spectacular, the place is cozy and warm and the people who run it are among the most welcoming hosts I have ever come across. I have been other times and it is my first choice for Ethiopian food. Recommend!
Amazing food and lovely owner 😍The owner is so sweet and accommodating, the food was so so delicious and well portioned and presented. I’ve been to a few Ethiopian restaurants and this has become my new favorite. Absolutely loved the food and atmosphere of this place.I would recommend the food platter to share to get a taste of a few things, I loved each dish really nothing I didn’t like. And taste the honey wine, it’s delicious! Also great vegan options, you can have the shared platter vegan or with meat.I visited with my co workers and they all loved it and we’ll definitely come again.Thank you!
Lovely food and friendly staff. My first experience with Ethiopian cuisine, I would definitely visit again. The frankincense is a lovely touch
Update:If I could give extra stars I would. After all these years trying different Ethiopian restaurants, I must say Zeret Kitchen is the best I tried in London. Outstanding service and food.During lockdown I have ordered around 3 times and the amount of food and injera is crazy big.The team in Zeret Kitchen is doing a great job keeping people happy indoors or take away with their kindness and cooking. Also, now you can buy the Zeret Kitchen recipe cookbook which can be an amazing gift. I bought two, and one is already on the way to Valencia, Spain.
What a nice surprise! I was looking for some new flavours and decided to try Ethiopian cuisine. The staff is very warm and friendly! The food is delicious beyond my expectations and everything was fresh.Definitely a place worth to try and to return to!
Amazing place. I am a super fan of Ethiopian food and I always wanted to try this place. I loved the food. It was very delicious and the lady owner is really kind and friendly. The wine was also really good. The place is spacious and clean. I would definitely go back ❤️
Really friendly service and great food. Honestly the kind of meal that feels like its changed me as a person- the endorphins get rushing and I feel alive. We probably demolished the whole meal in about 5 minutes and Im usually a pretty slow eater but it was just that good.We ordered two vegan selections and the spicy bread side, which they usually make with butter but since we ordered vegan food they offered to do it with oil instead which was lovely and attentive. The selections came as a combined platter which was nicely dramatic and we were fine sharing, but I saw other tables request theirs individually so thats an option if you dont want to share. The food was phenomenal, fresh and flavourful with the softest injera that you just want to use as a pillow. Great value, too, especially the portion sizes.Planning on going again very soon(or getting takeaway!), absolutely recommend it. Do phone up and book a table in advance, we saw a good few people turned away on a Tuesday night because they were so busy.
One of the best restaurants in London. The food is amazing, really tasty and refined. It is also well served, theres a lot to eat. The price is also very reasonable, around £13-14.The restaurant is family owned, the owners are lovely and welcoming.
Excellent food and service. Perfect for vegans and meat eaters alike. The best way to experience Ethiopian food is with a selection so go for it!
I took my family their for the first time to eat Ethiopian food. Everyone loved the food and felt welcomed as if we were visiting the lovely owners house. She has a warm smile that radiates and shows in her cooking. We ordered the zeret house mix, which is a sample of the most popular things to get a taste of the cuisine. I highly recommend.
Really wonderful, lovely staff, and amazing food. We had the special for 2 people and it was plenty of food, wish we had room for desert. The place was lively and had great energy. Will be back
Lovely place and very lovely staff. I enjoyed my time there. The staff and owner were nice and very welcoming. The food was great, and the beer suggestions very helpful. Great place to eat good food in a nice environment, at an affordable price.
Had an amazing time here! The honey wine is really nice for those with a sweet tooth and the huge sharing platters were a very new but delicious experience. Staff are very friendly and patient - we had a large group of 18 people who all did not arrive on time but we were not chastised for this and we could also bring in our own dessert to eat with no head charge. Food was very reasonably priced. Ive definitely discovered a new penchant for Ethiopian cuisine.
The stuff is welcoming and friendly. Food arrived on time. Inexpensive menu.I think you can enjoy if you like Ethiopian food, otherwise youll struggle to finish your meal.
Absolutely superb!Never experienced Ethiopian food before and was served a platter for 1, which was enough for at least 2!Amazing atmosphere and unbelievably friendly staff. Clearly popular with the locals. Cant wait to return. The only issue was the flash on my phone is broken and doesnt do the food pics any justice!
Lovely atmosphere, warm and professional staff. Vegetarian options are delicious and tasty Ethiopias wine and coffee ceremony is a plus. Dont forget to book a table.
Very friendly place, great food. Flavours are fantastic, loved the flat bread. Note theres no knife or fork, hands only which makes it authentic. The vegan mixed plate is fantastic, full of flavours. Although Im a vegetarian, I tried the leftover sauce left on the flat bread, sensational. The bread tastes sour, as it is fermented, goes well with the food.Ive had gluten free version made with Teff flour. Tried a little of the normal bread, couldnt tell the difference. We were served by the Ower I believe, saw her on TV. We were well looked after.I will definitely go back.
Fresh, tasty, authentic Ethiopian good food! Great atmosphere and very welcoming warm and friendly staff. Excellent customer service. Always wanted to try this place as its next to my hairdresser but as we live out of town and hadnt made a reservation we thought as theyre always busy they wouldnt take a walk in but we were pleasantly surprised! Cannot recommend this restaurant enough! Awesome experience.
Beautiful! The host was very warm and welcoming. And the food... amazing! I recommend the sharing platter, you get to taste a bit of everything and truly experience the Ethiopian food in one sitting. Theres loads more to say but I cant describe how much I loved what I ate. Oh and its vegan friendly ! Another great place for everyone in camberwell
Hesitantly visited this place based on reviews. It didnt disappoint us. A great positive experience on a new cuisine. Ethiopian food at its best.
Ive never tried Ethiopian food before and I didnt have a clue on what to expect or what to order. We went for the special, which was a mixture of dishes. Staff seem friendly and so laid back. Food arrived and looked impressive. Interesting flavours but a bit too salty for my taste. It has step free entrance so it is wheelchair accessible, but I didnt ask about facilities. Theres quite a lot of food so probably better for dinner than a lunch. And theres also a good selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes too.
