What a fantastic and unique find for vegans! Very impressed with this 19 year vegan restaurant. The food and service was great and look forward to returning each time I am in the Pittsburgh area.Staff was very nice and the decor is very unique and hard to describe. The food quality is good and there is nothing negative to say about this great place.

Not a vegetarian but I still loved the experience of visiting zenith. As many reviews points out, I was blown away by the mom-and-pop store vibe. I was then blown away again at the friendliness of the owner here. Would come again just for the kindness of the owner.

Accidentally showed up for Sunday brunch and it was great. Entree, drink and buffet! The decor is amazing, and the food was great. We also had some great history discussion with the host. All around wonderful outing. Attached thrift store is cool too

Like going to a friends house for a home cooked meal! Everything is fresh and you can tell its made with care.If Im being completely honest, I was a bit turned off by the look of the gazpacho, but immediately changed my mind at first bite!! Seriously one of the best gazpachos I have ever had. I would come back for just the gazpacho alone, but wait, theres more!! Pot roast and Portobello mushroom dishes were full of flavor. So delicious. I loved every bite.We enjoyed our mid week lunch so much we came back for Sunday brunch, and The Zenith did not disappoint!!Peanut noodles, potato salad, 2 different pasta salads, regular salad, fruit salad, broccoli salad, chickpea salad and hummus are just a few of the buffet options. Plus 5 different moist delicious cakes, bottomless coffee and pick one of 5 ever changing fantastic options. Everything was super yummy!!This place is the best vegan restaurant in Pittsburgh. Dont miss out!!

So far my best vegan experience in Pittsburgh!! Everything was full of flavor and very fairly priced!! Im blown away!! Small menu, taste is prioritized over presentation but Id prefer my food to taste better than it looks rater than looking fantastic and tasting bland. If youre in the area a enjoy yummy food in a funky environment dont miss out

What a cool place. We got some takeout, the staff was friendly and the food was fantastic. We got some seitan vindaloo, some sort of vegan crack spicy peanut butter noodles, and some spinach noodle dish. The inside is really awesome and would highly recommend checking it out.

Lovely place with a friendly and competent staff! I was visiting Pittsburgh and so happy I found this place. The Sunday bunch buffet was incredible! At least 10 salads (pasta, broccoli, potato etcand 5 different cakes. I also went to the shop area and bought a few vintage pieces. Their clothing selection is truly vintage (50s-80sand prices were lower than what a lot of vintage places are charging nowadays. I’m going to stop here every time I’m in Pittsburgh now!

I love Zenith! I’ve been coming here for years, and it remains one of my favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh.I love everything about it: the whimsy, the food, the ambience… I could go on forever. The aesthetic of this place is what I dream my home will be someday. If you don’t go for the food (which you should), just go and walk around their awesome vintage store.Everything there, food and items, is affordable. The music played aloud is great. The food itself is fantastic. I dream about their grape leaves. My friend had a potato leek soup here two years ago that she still talks about to this day. For my last visit, I got a (veganroast beef sandwich. It was a taste I haven’t had since I became vegetarian almost six years ago! It tasted like an Eat n Park sandwich on a Sunday afternoon with your grandma.Thank you to Zenith for returning a long lost flavor to my taste buds! PS I absolutely love your mismatched silverware and fancy goblets.

The atmosphere here is something everyone should experience. I do not think I have been in a place that was cozy, nostalgic, and spooky (in the best way possible)! The vegan food was delicious and very well priced. My girlfriend and I have already talked about the next trip we will be taking to The Zenith!

Im not vegan, but I found the food to be EXCELLENT. The atmosphere is eclectic, and the two dining rooms could each seat 40 easily with plenty of spacing, but I only saw a total of 5 other customers for dinner. Service was provided by one of the owners, and they had interesting things to say about the history of the building. The restaurant has been tucked away behind Carson Street for 20 years and is, in my opinion, a hidden gem.

On a scale of documentaries to romances, The Zenith is Alice in Wonderland. With an eclectic and thoughtfully laid-out collection of items sprawling from floor to high ceilings, The Zenith welcomes guests into an alternate reality.Walk deeper into The Zenith, and youll arrive to the restaurant portion of the shop where they offer a weekly menu of Vegan and Vegetarian options. My partner and I ordered the Peanut Noodle Salad, Wedding Soup, Red Bean Tacos, and the Ratatouille. Every bite offered an explosion of flavor, and we were well pleased.Service was wonderful, but its good to note that this is a more homey, mom-and-pop style restaurant. Its comfortable and intimate all at once.Pro Tip: Walk all the way into the back because they usually seat the far dining room before the mid-dining room.

Oh boy I wish this place was open more often. I havent had a bad meal here though. Their brioche donuts are enormous and delicious. I will continue to eat here as often as I can once all of the restrictions have been lifted. If you are vegan Zenith is a must try in Pittsburgh

I LOVE the Zenith! I’ve been coming here for years, I try to visit at least once every trip I take home to Pittsburgh. The staff are wonderful; the owner always has something nice to say and an interesting conversation to be had. The vintage shop is absolutely a delight and the vegan cakes are OUT of this world! Of course, the rest of the menu is full of hearty and fantastic items too. I hope this place is around for a good, long, while ;)

This is a super cool and interesting place. It’s like an oddities/antique shop/vegan restaurant all in one.I ordered their potato dill soup and jalapeño baked beans to go. The soup was good, but the beans were seriously delicious! Such a nice spicy flavor, but not too spicy. I wanted to save some for my bf but I ended up eating them all!

Im not a vegetarian or vegan so I was a little skeptical, but the food was all very good! Visited for a Sunday brunch with friends. The brunch buffet price is super reasonable. I really liked all the dishes I tried, I just wish they were labeled so I knew what they were. The coffee is pretty meh, Id pay more for better coffee or fresh squeezed juice if they offered it. But all in all a great meal. And of course perusing the quirky antiques is a nice side quest while youre there!

Unique place for a brunch buffet. You order an item off the menu (pic attachedand the buffet has salads, pastas, fruits, noodles and pastas. The off buffet item was by itself so filling and the items on the buffet would make your tummy REALLY FULL. Eight different cake varieties for dessert and they were all yummy. Except for the scrambled eggs everything else is vegetarian/vegan. Its actually cheaper for the food varities it offer. Place is beautifully creepy in my opinion. Must dine/experience if you are in Pittsburgh. Oh and one more thing. They charge 3.5% surcharge on cards so dont forget to take cash.

Delightfully charming and curious while being strangely spooky in the best way imaginable. Bulging with countless varieties and styles of art and everything else, the Zenith still manages to have a very distinct character and atmosphere that is simply ineffable. The staff is warm and inviting.Check out the vegetarian Cafe in the back. Its intimidating to walk into a place filled with so much, but well worth the mental recalibration.I am so happy this place exists.

Tasty vegan brunch, while the inside looks like a hoarders fever dream the food makes it a worthwhile if quirky experience. You would be hard pressed to find better and more varied vegan bundt cakes as well. Be prepared for communal seating if youre in a smaller group.

Vegan food with a few vegetarian options. The antique store is really cool, and serves as a waiting area while youre waiting to be seated on busy days. Seating here is communal. The food is ok... I remember it being better years ago but I wasnt as impressed this time around. The macaroni salad and peanut noodles are really good!

The whole menu is vegetarian/vegan friendly. Im not a vegetarian myself, but my girlfriend is, and this is one of our favorite cafes. Everything is fresh and delicious, especially the mock chicken soup which is incredible. Antique lovers would really enjoy this place too, theres so much old cool stuff to buy or even just browse. The staff is very attentive and welcoming, will be visiting again soon.

We went for Sunday brunch today. Excited for some delicious Vegan food. We were seated at 1:30pm. They took our order and told us to go ahead and get some food at the buffet. We walked over and there were no plates. We stood and waited about 5 mins for clean plates to come out. The buffet was already cleaned out, barely any food left and since they were open for another hour, we really thought they would replenish it. They never did. About 20 mins later a server came over and told us they were running low on French toast, which we had ordered, and would we like to have pancakes instead. We politely declined and said we would wait for our food. Then a server came over about 10 mins later with a lasagna with cheese and asked if we wanted that for free, but it had non-vegan cheese on top so again, we declined and said we’d wait for our food. Our food arrived at 2:16 pm. It was doused in almond extract and barely warm, extremely wet and completely inedible. We waited for a server to come check on us or ask how anything was but that never happened. Finally our server brought our check, again, not asking about our food even though our plates were untouched. I paid full price for our meals, $30, even though we maybe had 4 thin pieces of cake, a few green beans, and a small lump of peanut noodles all in all. (Again, it was the last of what was left in the buffet). I am extremely disappointed in the service and food here.

Love this place and I’m not even vegan! The Sunday buffet is the best deal in town. The peanut noodles are out of this world amazing. Cant skip the dessert table even if it’s sometimes at the detriment of the main entree. Wish they would let you box that since I feel like I fill up on the buffet selection and desserts. You can really kill time looking at all of the vintage antiques and clothes. 4 stars is only because the wait on Sunday is sometimes too long and I have to go elsewhere if my girlfriend is impatient or too hungry.

Excellent! I wanted a place to take my vegetarian daughter out for her birthday, so the whole family went to The Zenith. We were joking that after lunch, wed have to stop at Burger King. I was wrong! Huge buffet and the food was awesome. My daughter and I both had the stew--fantastic! My wife had eggs and rice, my other daughter had the seitan meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Tried them all and they were great. Chocolate raspberry cake, blueberry pie, plus a ton of different options on the buffet from pad thai to a broccoli/potato salad. I also loved the eclectic decor and atmosphere. Much better than the chain restaurants I am used to. Will definitely go back.

This is an absolutely captivating (mostly veganrestaurant within an antique store (or an antique store within a restaurantand I loved whatever it is that they’re going for. We made it here for Easter brunch. Zenith has to be the first (and onlyplace where I was almost a bit disappointed when our host told us our wait time would be only 5 minutes. They have coffee/tea for you while you wait on eclectic antique couches and their entire store for you to explore.. and I certainly would have enjoyed a longer wait time. Soon enough we were seated and our coffee/tea was refilled and we placed our entree order. Their Easter brunch, inclusive of the entree, coffee/tea refills, a large buffet of salads, breads, appetizers and desserts is priced super reasonably at $11.50! The food itself didn’t quite hit the spots for me but that could be just me. I found the almond French toast a bit too overwhelmingly almondy and the Seitan meatloaf not all that great. I was mistakenly served the portabello burgundy which I took a bite before realizing it wasn’t my order.. and that tasted pretty good! I wish I’d ordered that instead of my meatloaf. Almost all the items on their buffet were tending towards the sweeter side except the one pesto pasta salad and the hummus. That plus the French toast and sweetish rice-side to the French toast was way too much “sweet” for my brunch palette. I’d initially loved the look of all those options on the dessert table but when it came time for dessert, we’d had way too much “sweet” already in our food to be able to give all those dessert-cakes their due. I tasted the orange-chocolate cake and the raspberry-coconut cake and found them just about ok. The servers are friendly and polite. I’ll go back to Zenith and try their other offerings..but I’ll go back mainly to poke around their antique store while I do that and look around a bit more. There’s a lot to take in and we almost missed the mannequin lying in a couch suspended from the ceiling above our table! Creepy... but also really cool! Gotta go back for more such interesting displays we may have missed on our first visit here.

Wonderful food!!!!We went for the $11.50 Sunday brunch, and everything on the buffet was amazing. The brunch came with a plated entrée as well as the buffet, but I honestly wished Id told them to keep that so I could have more room for the wonderful buffet. They even had an assortment of cakes for dessert!Fruit, pasta, salads, and more - details on their menu, which is online. (The version on their website is more current than the Google Maps version.)They do have mixed seating; if there arent six people in your party, youll be seated together with someone else. Your server will introduce you, but youll still be meeting new people. Whether thats a good thing or a bad one is up to you and your mood.We loved browsing the shop while waiting on our last guest to arrive, too - its a bit like those "Hidden Pictures" video games, with something new to notice every time you pay attention to a new spot. One caveat: This is *not* a good place to take someone who doesnt like vegan food. There are not really options for someone who wants an American style breakfast - not even just fried potatoes. But I cant take a star off for that, because this is a vegan restaurant; itd be like docking an Ethiopian restaurant for not having a varied menu for people who dont like Ethiopian food.

Funky and delightful! The Sunday buffet is the best deal in town. This omnivore finds most of the veggie dishes better than in upscale restaurants. Much more fun and interesting than Ruths Chris Steakhouse and surely healthier too. Hope you agree.

Ive only been to their Sunday brunch, but it is incredible! You pick a main entree from a list of 4-5 (all were vegan except one option that contained eggs and ricottaand then can visit the buffet full of amazing sides. Pasta salads, grape leaves, hummus, various salads, fruits, breads, cakes, and pies. The sides are where its at! The place is also an antique shop packed full of goods! We love it here!

The owners are very kind and the dishes change weekly. Brunch on Sunday offers a wide variety, buffet style+ one meal, and during the week its a quiet restaurant with good music and a relaxing atmosphere. The food is excellent, mostly vegan, everything vegetarian. They source their food locally and they are generous portions. I recommend zenith to everyone!

I went to Zenith because of the great reviews, and even with high hopes going in, Zenith surpassed my expectations! The food was delicious! My spouse and I shared black bean and tomato soup, a seitan steak wrap, and vegan lasagna. The menu changes weekly, is all vegan, with the option of substituting with cheese for some of the dishes. Great portions at an affordable cost. The service was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is magical. The cafe is attached to an antique shop with a fun selection of clothes, jewelry, artwork, and much more! Highly recommend a visit here and I will definitely be back when Im next in Pittsburgh.
