Zazu - Fine dining restaurant in Quito, Ecuador
It’s a really nice and great restaurant. It was totally worth it.Amazing, please just go
Truly fine dining - Michelin-star grade. Attentive service, great balance of flavors. We enjoyed the Experience and I particularly appreciated the tuna tartar and the oxtail.Priced as high-end fine dining in Europe or US.
Great food, great atmosphere
Wowww!!!! Such a great experience me and my friends had there. You can choose between the experiences or a la carte menu.If you were thinking about trying the Guinea pig while in Quito, here is the place to do it. It was very tasty and not served like other traditional places.
Best service in Ecuador!! Food was incredible. My boyfriend was dehydrated from our day in Ecuador and wasn’t feeling well when we got there. They were so kind and accommodating despite us having to leave early. We will be coming again to experience the full tasting menu.
Fabulous food, drinks, service, soft music and ambiance.
Probably the best overall tasting menu Ive had in South America. Almost every dish was a solid hit, with some being quite inventive in terms of flavors and presentation. Highly recommend the fois gras creme brulee and deconstructed ceviche.
Very tasty food with good vibes but on the expensive side for quito
I went there like a month ago in August when I went to Quito and it was alright.. Like I only went there because my mom was going and she likes fancy food. The food was too fancy for me but it was alright not bad... Im not like a food connoisseur or anything.
Had dinner there last week with my partner. We had one "zazu experience" and one "grand experience" tasting menu. Its reasonablly priced and the food was innovative and delicious.
Our experience was almost perfect. The food was delicious! I kept thinking “why doesn’t this place have a Michelin Star.”
I’m still sitting in the restaurant but I had to write this is one of the best tasting menus I’ve ever had! And I’m from NYC which has plenty of good ones. Some of my favorite dishes were the egg yolk and the foie gras. The dishes has a lot of really interesting twists on them that didn’t overpower the nature of the dish. The service was also impeccable - they can explain everything in both english and spanish and gave me a lot of insights on each dish. Definitely go!
Zany is truly fine dining. The service is perfection, the ambience is luxury, yet still casual. The food was fresh, delicious and presented elegantly. The pricing is reasonable and worth every penny. The bar area is also beautiful, modern and relaxing and a joyful environment to get ready for a great meal. We were very pleased Zazu and the wonderful staff.
Delicious food and great service
Mabel y Elvis son los mejores. Mabel and Elvis were the best. Beautiful food and customer service. We hope to go back again. I would like to recommend this place. Lovely.
Absolutely exceptional from start to finish! Loved trying local and fresh ingredients with fabulous flavor. Really creative and inventive dishes - definitely get the tasting menu!
We had an excellent customer service, especially with the waiters. The restaurant has very delicious dishes and we highly recommend you to visit this restaurant.Thank you so much Zazu restaurant :)
I had my New Years Eve dinner here last night. It was fabulous. I ordered their "Zazu Experience" and I was not disappointed. My favorite dish was definitely their guinea pig, and least was their duck which was a tad chewy. I still gave Zazu a 5-star rating as the service was impeccable. My server Viviana was super polite and friendly. Ill return to try their a la carte menu when I visit Quito next.
Good food, good ambience, good drinks
One of the best meals of my life. The foie gras/crem brûlée was one the most delicious things I have ever tasted. We had the tasting menu and everything was fantastic. The service and atmosphere were also incredible. I thought I was going to need to sell my first born to pay for the meal, but the credit card went through in the end.
An amazing tasting menu with strong Ecuadorian influences. They used many local ingredients and flavors to elevate more traditional French fine dining fare. The sweet and savory creme brulee foie gras was an example of something I hadnt come across before. The staff is very friendly, quick, and ready to help at all times, and the atmosphere is upscale yet relaxed. Everything was delicious and Id recommend it without hesitation. They also offer dining ala carte.
Fantastic food, get the tasting menu, its expensive but worth it. The stone crab is particularly great. Theres so much food neither myself nor my wife could manage all of it. I would advise not getting cocktails because although they are good, they wont mesh well with the tasting menu.
Arguably the best restaurant in Quito. Impressive combination of local cousins with a modern touch. Very friendly service. Overall rate: world class.
I got the full tasting menu. The service was on the most part amazing. On the most part they had the English speaking waiter serve me and explained what was being presented. He was also great on answering my questions about preparation of the dishes in front of me. I got served and charged for a glass of sparkling water by accident. There was a server that served my dessert that kinda just placed the dish and ran off.The pisco sour was perfectly executed. The food was on the most part very well executed. The ingredients were fresh and of high quality. And the execution of all the dishes show cased the attention to detail and technique of the chef and kitchen staff. For me, the foie gras dish needed to be worked out more, it was too sweet. The restaurant was very kind and took it off my bill. There should have been an plate cleanser some where towards the end of the meal, as it was multiple heavy dishes in a row. While eat one delicious, I felt like my palette needed a break from the rich food.I actually had a great discussion with the chef about it my concerns when he visited my table. I could see what Chef Wilson Alpala brings to the restaurant and to his credit he was gracious on my thoughts on his food.I could see this being a Michelin rated restaurant one day under Chef Alpala, like the others it’s parent company.
Tasting menu is a must try. Great service as well.
Our group of four ordered the tasting menu. For Quito this is an expensive restaurant, BUT it was worth it. Expertly plated and served, every course was exquisite. A wide variety of tastes and the correct amount of food. We had a terrific meal at an enjoyable venue.
Delicious dishes made from local foods with great imagination, my thanks to the chef. My favorites (out of 8 courseswere octopus, guinea pig, egg yolk with injected veal broth inside, and Andean salad. Wine pairings were spot on. All wines were from Chile or Argentina, and also great. The service was top notch. Id gladly dine here again.
The best service you will get in Quito. All the staff were incredibly courteous, attentive, and friendly. The decor was tasteful. The food was splendid. Sadly they were out of the two dishes we wanted to try the most, but it gives us good reason to return soon.
Zazu is an amazing restaurant, made even better by the fantastic service. Viviana & Camila took care of us throughout the meal. They were most courteous & attentive, exceptionally knowledgeable about the menu, and essential in helping us out with ordering. They made us feel very special and valued. To begin with, the restaurant has a preset menu with some items that were not part of the general fare. However, it turned out that we could freely order any of the items we liked. The food taste and presentation were superior. In the beginning of the meal, we were served an amuse-bouche of roasted cauliflower in aji sauce, it was delicious and very pretty. The house bread was warm and fresh, served with a bit of whipped butter For starters we ordered Foie Gras and Ceviche de Pescado. The foie gras was fried duck liver, which is uncommon even in France (usually, it is basically cold sliced pate). It was absolutely marvelous, perfectly cooked to a medium rare, with just the right flavoring as to not to take away from the natural taste, it was served with a little mash of eggplant? with a bit of sauté onion and sauce, the mash had a bit of sharp taste. The ceviche was served in a very unusual way, it was thinly slied corvina sashimi style, over pink sauce (a bit gelatinous), crunches & buttons of yellow sauce. Viviana explained to us what everything was, but we were so entranced with the way the dish looked, that unfortunately, I forgot what she said…For the main course, we had Jackson Pollack fish of the day and Duck Confit. We were somewhat confused about the fish dish, but it all became quite clear once it arrived to the table. It actually looked like a piece of modern art and tasty one too! The fish was corvina, very nice thick piece, that was, again, perfectly cooked. It was moist and juicy, the mixture of the sauces was very interesting and the crunches of mixed grains that accompanied the fish were very good. We ordered a side of mashed potatoes in addition to the hot plates, and it turned out to be a great choice, because we could dip the potatoes in the sauce. The Duck Confit was very good, generally we prefer a duck breast, but the leg was very tasty in sweet sauce with veggies. We really enjoyed our meal at Zazu. We wish that we have discovered it a little earlier during our stay, so that we would have time to visit it again, but I guess, we will have to come back to Quito for it.
A good place for Peruvian restaurant at Quito, Ecuador. The place is clean and nice. The ambiance is pretty good. The staff are nice and they explain the food we are ordering or eating. They can also recommend what is good to try. The foods are so good. The price is reasonable for this kind of restaurant. Our dessert is so good. A must try and visit restaurant if you are in Quito, Ecuador.
It restaurant in Quito that largely lives up to its name. Impeccable service from the moment you enter, very good selection of wines by the glass. Mixto civiche and Picanha were outstanding; (I found the mushroom Aji soup to be more than a bit oily and heavy with the confit mushrooms tough, but that may just have been the style). 100USD for 3 courses and 2 glasses of wine.
Amazing food, great atmosphere and the staff were very accommodating!
Honestly one of the best meals my wife and I have had anywhere in the world! Incredible value for the money and literally everything was amazing.
Dined at Zazu last night. Highly recommend Zazu to anyone visiting Quito. Very warmly welcomed by the great host who showed us to our table. Very friendly waitstaff who explained the menu well.Food ordered was the octopus & calamari starters. Main course was catch of the day, (sea bass& picanha. All dishes were extremely well cooked & presented using great produce. The wine list had a great selection of bottles from nearby areas.Overall fantastic experience and offered great value for money. One of the better restaurant dinners I have had in a while.
This place is kind of a surprise in Quito! Dishes are absolutely beautiful and also delicious!Staff are super polite :)
Great food at a much better price than you’d pay at a comparable restaurant in the States.
Excellent flavors, great service and friendly staff. Must have the corn soup and Quito mule
I definitely see why this is consistently rated the best restaurant in Quito. The atmosphere is first class, they have a great wine selection, and their tasting menu is amazing. This has been added to my list of restaurants to visit each time in Quito
Ceviche mixto was good. Cerdo hornado, the entreé, was also tasty. But duck carbonara was too normal to be a fine dining and the meat wasnt soft.
Elevating sometimes common elements to a whole new level! Had an amazing lunch here.
Amazing dining experience. Incredible food and great service. True to Ecuadorian roots.A must go in Quito for sure.
Fantastic and classy restaurant. Recommended by the concierge at JW Marriott and it did not disappoint! We tried local foods such as Guinea Pig and it was delicious. Really well stocked bar with a fine whiskey selection. Totally recommend this one in Quito.
Fantastic food, great service, beautiful decor and ambiance. My girlfriend and I went for "upscale Ecuadorian" cuisine. The service and quality of food and ingredients blew us away. A must visit for anyone seeking Ecuadorian food at its finest.
I was surprised at how good the food was here . I ordered off the regular menu and the taquitos and chicken were great . Excellent service and not expensive from a North America perspective.
Most of us got the Tasters menu. It was awesome to try a variety of foods. I felt like a food judge on the Iron Chef.
Great presentation, but quality of dishes can vary. Some were top notch, some were OK. Probably a 5 star for Quito, but on par with some very good restaurants in NYC. The creme brulee presentation was the best I ever saw. Recommended if you stop by Quito.
Great service and the food is good especially the desserts. Reservations recommended as they usually fill up quite quickly. Their wine selection is amazing and have an entire room dedicated to wine.
We had an awesome St Valentine evening at Zazu. My girlfriend ate a la carte, and I took the tasting menu with wine pairing. It was a great experience: from service to food and wine, everything was perfect.
Very nicely done dishes. 4 stars due to somewhat scarce vegetarian options.
The waiter kept coming back to ask what our selections were. He brought out the wrong bottle of wine. They did not have three dishes, one of them was what I wanted. I ordered the filet mignon but sent it back because it was over done. And then the second steak was over done also but I ate it like a petulant child. The ceviche mixto was okay but the shrimp and the octopus were previously cooked and not made to order. The pork taquitos were dry and flavorless. My chocolate soufflé was wet and had not risen at all. Our check was $175 but the experience was not worth it!Ive eaten at Pujol in Mexico City and that was one of the greatest culinary experiences of my life...all for the same price. Zazu is trying but it really needs to step up if it wants to be considered and recognized as a legitimate player in the Quito food scene.
