Zanzibar Restaurant in Port-of-Spain

Each time Ive visited it was a different level of poor. Long wait for food & very sloppy service. After complaining I was refunded. Not that the refund mattered, the experience and time for me was ruined.

Personally think the food is over-rated. The drinks are great though, the bar is definitely a go to. I didn’t enjoy the burgers much and the wedges were incredibly salty.

Visited on a Thursday just about 4:45pm. Staff was welcoming , pleasantly explained safety protocols. It was our waitress, Lyn however who made the experience exceptional. She was so jovial, actively listened and got the order correct. Even when I saw her taking a break another waitress checked in on us and she came right back same bubbly way. Great service.

My visits to this restaurant are always a delightful yet sometimes pricey experience. My personal faves are the Zonster wings and the Moroccan spicy meatball marinara but they’re not always consistent with the flavor. The desserts are tasty but also overpriced. My fave so far - the carrot cake and dulce de leche cheesecake.

Great food, excellent portions , really nice customer service, Lynn was our server who was very nice. However, waiting period for order to be taken and for food to be served was rly long , maybe more staff should be hired to cover the vast amt of guests attending. The music was also too loud that she at times could not hear our order nor could we hear ourselves while talking. ..... but really nice experience still.

Nice enough place for a very heavy lunch. It feels more American/more of a sports bar than an African themed bar but it’s nice all the same.

Excellent food. Not so speedy service. It could have just been the waitress off day. We all have them. No biggie. The food was worth the wait. It just took some time to wrap things up as far as getting the bill, and containers. Its nice and cozy, not much walking traffic around tables. It was pretty easy back on the weekday. Excellent portions, wonderful food presentation, and cool interior design .

It was a great experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. The service fantastic and the food was exactly what the menu displayed. Ill definitely recommend this place.

Good quality food, but waiting times need improvement. I actually witnessed a couple leave after waiting at least 10mins for someone to come take their order, and they arrived after me by the way. However, it was a holiday if thats any consolation. Apart from this, the ambience is great, they show kids shows, top rated movies and sports live on tvs across the restaurant. Prices are fairly reasonable, bathrooms are clean, would go again but on a regular day

Every visit is different, this time around I had the "Porky wrap" and my boyfriend had the "Cajun shrimp burger" and side of BBZ Now zanibars food is always delicious 9/10 times but everything we ordered that was more like 5/10. The bottom of the porky wrap was soggy due to the pork grease that settled to the bottom of the plate, the pork was a little tough and the sweet peppers were cut way to large, it changed the taste of the entire meal (suggestion - cut way smaller or even dice the sweet pepper).The buffalo sticks were so oil soaked he didnt eat them (weve had this a few times before and enjoyed it), his shrimp burger however was tasty as usual. 1st time ordering the Bbz, it was a little to salty but the flavor was there. Last but not least the fruit punch taste like concentrate box juice, it tasted terrible.

Well well well..zanzibar has indeed "up-ed" their game..hats off to the chef..food real lash..and the amount was perfect..wifey even had a doggie bag to take home...ambience on a Sunday lunch time perfect for a quiet family lunch...local beers should not be 21 dollars though..but I get it..we keeping we local just as high as dem foreign choices...menu could be simplified..cuz dem people who come with mih take long to make up dey mind...price was comparative with the quality of food they served. And watching India put some licks on Australia while I ate was also a plus...good job to the hostess who served us and her super who checked to ensure we were pleased...

Very tasty, but would not accommodate our request to change 1 of the television screens to a sport. I thought this was a sports bar....Apparently, the MANAGER, has the only CODE to change the screens and he had left for the evening. So much for allowing the next in charge, to be in charge. So much for "customers and all right". BTW I was visiting from out of town and found this very disconcerting.

Very good service. The waiters are friendly, very knowledgeable and willing to give recommendations on the menu. The food is always well portioned and delicious!!

Z 6 cheese ravioli seafood delight is by far one of the best tasting dish. Its a must. Then it must be followed by the chocolate eruption if you really want to nail a good time.

This meat platter came out sizzling hot and tasted good but doesnt come with any sides so you might want to order one and the chocolate eruption dessert is always a hit for me.

Spent 10 minutes waiting for anyone to serve me and when I got up to make it known, again, to the hostess which I had to wait to see, I was making my way back to my seat when a couple took the seat and was immediately acknowledged by the same wait staff member that had been walking past me all the time.I may have been willing to overlook the situation if it was a busy night, but you could count how many patrons were there at the time. No thanks, welcome mat removed.

The place is very safe and is easy to reach. The seating options of inside and outside are both equally good . The mixed drinks are quite a good bargain for money . Thier daily special deals are also worth taking advantage off, especially their 2 for 1 on drinks. The food is mostly on par with other establishments such as TGI Fridays and Ruby Tuesdays. The staff is always generally kind and accommodating. The biggest issue with the establishment is the wait for food which ranges from 20-30 mins on a average day to 40-50 mins on a busy day, for items even as mundane as fries.

Servers were very polite and accommodating but there was a 40 minute wait for our meal. In their defense it was a pretty busy night and the food was tasty.

The food was great. However it was during restuarant week so it was a bit loud and the music was adding to it. Also on taking home my ribs I noticed a piece of plastic at the bottom of it I assumed it was just a simple mistake because of amount of people in the restaurant at the time.If you do go get the dolce de leche cheese cake its Top Notch!

Everything on the menu is good, and will fill you right up. The bartenders are very pleasant, and the atmosphere is lively. Its a go-to spot for those who find it.

The waitress never gave us cutlery, I physically had to get it myself. Also parts of my meal were missing completely (sauces, coleslaw). We asked to separate the added chicken from our salad as we didnt want it on top of the salad, but this wasnt done and we were told "they didnt separate the chicken. Ok." No apology given and she walked away. We were not allowed to finish our meals in peace as the waitress constantly took our dishes away (more than once!while I was still eating from the plate at the time. We were not asked if we wanted anything else at all. It was laughably ridiculous.

I sat at the bar for my visit. Great food. Strong drinks. Beers on tap. Reasonable prices. Food is well seasoned, fresh, and well prepared. Bartenders are friendly, personable, and professional. Whenever I return to POS I will dine hereagain. I already recommended to friends and they share my experience. A must do when heading to the movies or need a good drink and apps or meal. Has good happy hour rates also. Try the coco loco. You wont regret it.

This was a horrible experience. This was restaurant week. It was a party of 6. My wife attempted to book a table and was told no reservations till after 10pm, yet when we arrived we were asked if we had reservations and many people were seated while we waited for over 45 minutes before we could be seated. We had a break from the disaster and the appetisers were very good. It then went down hill again. The mains were brought before the table was cleared from the utensils used in the appetisers. One of the mains was totally forgotten and my wife asked for medium done but got raw steak. It then took about 30 minutes before the forgotten main came, then the redone steak came another 15 minutes after. My fish was fresh and one would normally be given a lemon slice to squeeze as an option over seafood (good luck with that). By this time, all we could do is pack it away to take it home. I had asked for a Coca-Cola to mix with a rather strong long island tea. It took over 30 minutes to arrive. By this time the drink was already consumed as the ice had melted and weakened the drink. When the forgotten main came we asked for the bill. We wanted for about 1.5hrs from then till we eventually left the table and had to ask by the reception desk to pay in order to leave. Im not sure what is the standard of this organisation nor if they were just having a bad night but I will not be returning to find out. As a visiting foreign national, I was hugely disappointed with this experience as I would boast about the food flavours of my beautiful Trinidad and Tobago.

Lovely ambiance, nice settings for family dinners, delicious food. Was close to closing time when we went so the service wasnt as efficient as I wouldve preferred, or maybe there was a staff shortage at that time because our waiter was actually servicing multiple tables, but he did an alright job. My experience was satisfactory and I would return.

Great food, desserts and cocktails

Always a pleasure going here, wether its to have drinks or dine-in. Great staff, you dont can take your time to order you dont feel pressured and the food doesnt take to arrive after you order. Not to mention the taste of the food is always great. I will continue to go back.

Not bad. Called in for a burger. Took a while ti get through and even had to call back. The burger was pretty good though. A little on the pricey side for me but it was convenient stop for food in Movietowne plaza.

Good place to dine or just have drinks. Food prices average around $60 -$300, depending on your palate. Its a good option for birthdays, dates or just a family outing. Large portion sizes so you can share an entree if you have a small appetite. My favourite location is the one in Chaguaramas because of the scenery.

Our server was friendly and very helpful. She knew the menu and was able to offer suggestions on portions and sides. Would recommend Zanzibar when looking for a nice night out with tasty affordable dining. Cant wait to try their lunch menu

Nice food BUT they are not focused on the clients interests. About 20 minutes to bring 2 cokes to the table????? The excuse: "I am working alone today". They should not open without personnel!

Great food but it was mothers day weekend so crowded and serivce was slow. Drinks menu needs to be fixed as well. Service was ok as a result of the crowds seemed as if they couldnt handle it.

One of the top restaurant chains in the country, you can count on good food and atmosphere. Good place for that special family dinner. A couple menu asms drink items were not available but good customer service made up for that. Good experience overall.

Pleasant staff, tasty food and the wait was not long, drinks were good as well. But management please have your drinks menu done over we were not able to get one that was readable all were faded.

Overpriced local version of an Applebees or TGI Fridays, plus a smidgen of club vibe. Out of the first two things I tried to order (how can you be out of fried rice?!), my third choice of the grilled seafood platter was a buttery mess.

Consistent with good service and good fare. They make an effort. Not high end but for the price range you get good value. Never disappointed with the food.Happy hour daily from 4 p.m.to 8 p.m. Buy anything get another free.

Coming here for lunch, expect to have Zanzibar foods but there is no food from Zanzibar. This restaurant similar with TGI Fridays style, more to American comfort foods. Having high rating, I think the foods matched with local taste - not for foreigner.

Zanzibar has a fairly cool atmosphere. Its not to bar-like neither is it super cozy but, its a nice mix. Pretty awesome place for a group of friends to chill out and have a good time. Depending on the food you choose to order you may either be blown away (by the great tasteor disappointed (by the not-so-mind-blowing taste). Overall though, it is a nice restaurant, prices are pretty good and they do have some awesome drinks as well (Especially the passion fruit drinks 😍).

Food is good and service is quick. Portion sizes are very American (and by that I mean massive heart-clogging goodness). You get a great deal for what you pay except for the wine list which is pretty overpriced for what it is.

Service is HORRIBLE. dont let a waitress name MARISSA attend to you. Big pig. Never me again. Standards drop to the floor. Food was cold and we waited an hour and a half to be served.

Great food and not too expensive relative to the posh area this is happens to be located. Amazing drink options. Very large menu with any sort of food. Nice friendly staff. Could have been a bit faster with the meals. Food would have been better a higher temperature.

Very good service. Good food. Drinks, well I just had a stag draft, it was good.I had the a salad with delicious bourbon salmon. The salmon was cooked to perfection and it was a nice flavor to it. Went back the next day and had their milk shake, which was good as well and a better price than the Haagen Daaz

HORRIFIED BY THE SERVICE AT THIS ESTABLISHMENTI visited Zanzibar this evening and was horrified by my experience.I ordered a meal and did not realize until the meal arrived that it contained mushrooms to which I am allergic. As the server delivered the meal I noticed the mushrooms, indicated I have a severe allergy and asked to have the meal redone. After a few minutes the server returned to say the supervisor indicated they could redo the meal but I would need to pay for both meals. Having never had this experience before we asked for a supervisorMr. Benjamin, Manager on duty, came to our table and I shared with him the details of the situation. Now remember, this is not a matter of I don’t like mushrooms it is a fact that I will go into anaphylactic shock and possibly die. I explained this to the Manager on duty who said while he understood, it was my fault for not reading the menu and the list of ingredients, and if I wanted I could take the meal home and give it to someone else. I asked for the bill. He brought the bill removed the meal but refused to ensure I had something to eat.I am sure to him his actions made sense. They were not paid for the meal nor did the customer leave their restaurant with a desire to return or encourage anyone else to patronize them.UTTERLY DISGUSTED and FLABBERGASTED

Ate here about a week ago and found it reasonably-priced. I had baby back ribs with fries. The fries were deliciously seasoned, however although the ribs were good I felt like it was missing something.
