Beautiful place. Nice ambiance. One of the best sightseeing places in Kalimpong. This is located near the Army Cantonment. Overall ambiance is very good.

Currently closed due to COVID 19
The monastery is closed since March 2020 due to covid restrictions. You can still watch it from outside. It has parking space for 5/6 cars and the view is nice. There is a small canteen near the parking area which sells tea and snacks
Closed to visitors in view of the pandemic.but the walk to the Monastery is worth it.the views are great.
We were not able to enter due to covid so we enjoyed the scenery from outside. It was nice and refreshing.
Nice monastery but couldnt go inside as presently it is closed due to Covid situation. So no details are available. This is located inside the military area and there is a helipad just beside this road whose entry is restricted for civilians. Make sure to catch a glimpse of the helipad if you come to visit the monastery.

A must visit place for sight seeing when you are at kalingpong. Reaching there isnt a problem can get a cab for 6 person at 1500rs if you exclude delo as it will be covered by travel agent. Rest you will enjoy every bit of the place as i did. The nature and the scenic beauty is mismerising .
You can climb to the top and have 360 degree view from the hilltop, also you can watch the monks and students praying..
This Monastery is located on a perfect spot. The views are so pleasant that you can find true peace. The air is so fresh. You can spend hours watching beautiful scenery around you. You can capture good photos of the environment. Its a must visit place.
This monastery is so beautiful and the place is so quiet. If you visit Kalimpong , do visit here. The monks will explain everything to you about Buddhism and all the mural paintings on the wall. But dont take pictures of the place as they have requested not to do that.

This monastery located at Kalim pong named as Dhurpin monastry
It is a charming Buddhist temple situated on the hill top called Durpin Dara. There is a small Tibetan School. It is a restricted area maintained by Indian Army.
Nice tranquil ambience and excellent views all around. Monks, young and old, can be seen going about their jobs. N.B. For shutterbugs, photography is prohibited inside the main building.
A good place to visit. The environment is calm and serenity is maintained as in other monasteries. You can touch the clouds from the top of the monastery. The place is well-maintained.

Peaceful and happy place. You can ask monks about the monestry and they will tell you everything. Photography is not allowed in the monestry but you can take photos around and outside of it. The view from the monestry is amazing and I love the way it has been kept. Good place to have a photography session too 😁.
Zang Dhok Palri Phodang monastery which is also renowned as Durpin Monastery of Kalimpong is located at the hill top edges of Durpin Dara. Perched perfectly at an elevation of around 1372 m the stands of monastery is amongst the highest monasteries of Darjeeling hills.Zang Dhok Palri Phodang is one of the well known monasteries in Kalimpong, but came into establishment in the later part of 20th century. It is credited to be the most beautiful and also the largest among the monasteries in this city of West Bengal. Durpin Dara is the name of the peak on which the Zang Dhok Palri Phodang is situated at a height of about 1372 mts. From this point, majestic picturesque sceneries can be visualised of the Kalimpong city and the valley below. Mount Kanchenjunga and other Himalayan peaks are also visible from over this monastery. Dalai Lama consecrated this monastery when he visited Kalimpong in 1976. Another name for the Zang Dhok Palri Phodang Monastery is the Lava Monastery. Teesta River flows by the hill on which this monastery is situated. Zang Dhok Palri Phodang monastery holds special significance in terms of sharing its history and religious cult with his holiness 14th Dalai Lama who still living in exile after the invasion of China in Tibet.Tourists can avail cabs to visit the monastery and have a view of the surrounding hills. Some people also prefer to trek along the path to the monastery, which is supposedly about 40 minutes walk, along Rinkinpong Road.

Good place to visit with a fantastic Monastery and an awesome view point. This is Durpin Dara view point. The view is magnificent with sighting of Lava, lolegaon, Kalimpong city, teesta river and The Kanchendzonga.
Nice monastery, a good religious centre for the people and a great spot for tourists to spend some time and take pictures. It is worth a visit.
The monastery has a breathtaking view. when i visited in january 2013 the lama of monastery had passed way and monastery inner sanctum was closed due to his last rites. witnessed the preparation of his last rites and it was phenomenal. The grandeur of the event was amazing . People from all walks of life came to have his last view. the upkeep of monastery is amazing and beautifully managed. There is a ground adjacent to the monastery where we witnessed a football match. A must visit place if you are visiting kalimpong.
Zang Dhok Palri Phodang is a Buddhist monastery in Kalimpong in West Bengal, India. The monastery is located atop Durpin Hill, one of the two hills of the town. It was consecrated in 1976 by the visiting Dalai Lama.The monastery houses many rare scriptures that were brought into India after the invasion of Tibet in 1959. It also houses the 108 volumes of the Kangyur. It is also popularly known as the Lava Monastery. The view from the hill-top is breathtaking.
