Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, Dzuunmod
Iconic monument above the city remembering soldiers of Mongolia & the USSR lost in WWII.
You can see whole city
It is worth going there to see the view of the big city. It would have been appropriate to renovate it there
Was there years ago... Thats me in the Black Shirt.
At the top you can get a 360° view of the city, but the condition of the road and steps leading to the monument is poorly maintained
From here you can see the whole city of Ulaanbaatar.I recommended to visit when you come to Ulaanbaatar.
By far the best view over the city. Come here 1h before sunset
Nice location to view all Ulaanbataar city, just over the Tuul river.
Very good view of Ulaanbaatar, especially the spread of city. Also there is a glass bridge and dinosaurs are carved on rocks, which looks great from glass bridge.
Magnificent view. A recommended place to visit.
Zaisans night is perfect because UB city is good looking from the here.
The photos were taken not far from Mount Zaisan monument from the east side.
Monument to Soviet Union-Mongolian friendship. It is very cold in winter. Too many people in the summer. One of the must-see places in Ulaanbaatar.
Quite the impressive monument. Its certainly worthy of the name. There were also a few small, quaint looking shops along the staricase, but they were all closed, I assume due to COVID. Theres also a small glass bridge with a dinosaur head roaring up at you.The monument itself chronicles the journey Mongolia went through during its time under Soviet life. The monument mimics the traditional Mongolian fireplace and honours the Soviet soldiers who fought for the Mongolian Peoples Republic. The place, of course, also offers up some amazing city views.
Its beautiful up there. One of great experience of UB.
Perfect spot for sightseeing
Beautiful view of the city on top of the Zaisan hills located Bogdkhan mountain.
Easy getaway from city to take fresh air
An intriguing war monument high atop Zaisan Hill.. Climbing effort is needed to get to the monument.. Good place to exercise your breathing and joints.. A guide is needed to fully explain the mural at the monument.. Otherwise, you can make it up along with the depictions of the mural.. At the monument, you are rewarded with a wonderful view of Ulaanbaatar..
You can see the city from high place. Little walk to the top but it is totally worth it.
The best place to see Ulaanbaatar city
Its very nice place you can see the beauty of ulaanbatar....nice spot for stress and depress person you can get peace of mind while you in the top of the hills😘😘😘
Pros: beautiful scenery, especially at sunset, and not too many people. Can get there relatively easily from downtown by taking the bus and walking a few minutes.Con: No easy signage that you can go into the mall to go up to the 4th or 5th floor so your ascent is easier. I climbed up a hill haha
Beautiful panoramic view of the city! Also shows how much the Mongolia people contributed for the Soviet Union which is hardly spoken of anywhere..
The place is really awesome, can view the city from the high! If u like to hike, get up from the other side instead of taking the stairs, it will be more fun!
One of the historic places in Ulaanbaatar. You can enjoy the beautiful view of the whole city from here. You have to do some hard work to enjoy the view though (climb few stairs:)). There is a mall at the foothill of Zaisan hill and there is a glass bridge also connecting the mall to monuments stairs. Few coffee shops also there at the start of the stairs. You can also go upto stairs by car if you dont want to go the shopping mall. Overall a must visit place in Ulaanbaatar at night time..(ofcourse in summers :))
Parking was a nightmare, as is driving in general in the city. Beautiful view of the city after short, steep climb. Local vendors around selling wares for tourists. Not a lot of information around about its history; I relied on my local friend to tell me about it.
Great view of city
Great spot!! Wow!Be careful when coming here.. there are many Soviet and communist images on the walls so be sure to be aware of your children. Not sure what the long term effects of exposure to those images could be, but be careful just in case. Unfortunately there are lots of steps, but the view is wonderful and you can see the whole city from the top!I wouldn’t recommend coming here in the middle of winter.COOL place!
Fun, free and you can pose holding a eagle for a couple of bucks (USD).Its a long staircase up the hill but you can take an elevator up 1/2 way if you go into the shopping center.
Great mountain near the city. Great sightseeing.
Panorama view in Ulaanbaatar, nice place for a stair climbing exercise.
Great place to see the whole city! But full of aggressive merchant ppl.
It located southeast of the Ulaanbaatar city. Also you can see the panoramic view of whole Ulaanbaatar city from there. I recommend night time. Cause city shines beautifully.
Nice view over Ulanbaatar, interesting historical monument. No entry fee.
Best UB lookout point.Tip #1: If you park on the Zaisan Hill Complex (free parking), go up to the 6th or 7th floor via the elevator, there is a bridge that basically puts you half way on the stairs trail... kind of like cheating, but you climb half the amount of stairs! Nice statue!Tip #2: If you are even more lazy, if you keep driving up the Zaisan Hill Complex, there is a small 10-15 car parking lot at the end that basically puts you near the bridge from Tip #1.
Best lookout point overlooking the city of Ulaanbaatar with amazing perspective of the sunset. A must visit for tourists in the city. Entrance is free and the climb is not too tiring. However, not many food options nearby so be sure to have your meals before visiting!
I first went here in December 2004, back before they developed this area. The stairs and pathways leading up to the monument have improved much since then. The pollution makes it hard to get a good, clear view of the city, but its still a meaningful historical site to visit.
Come here at sunset, the views amazing
Go from the Zaisan hill complex, great view of the city from the top!
Nice to see the panoramic view of UB from the side of developed Zaisan area.
It doesnt take long to see so you can easily squeeze it in as a stop. The monument is very beautiful, the english on the signs are a little lacking but you can always wikipedia the info if you are curious
Great place to visit in Ulaanbaatar! About an hours walk, or short taxi/ bus ride (number 55 or 52), from the heart of the city. Great views of the city and surrounding Bogd Khan mountains. Place comes alive at night with many people coming up to watch the sun set
This place offers fantastic views of UB and has decent historical value too, related to the Mongolias communist history and their relationship with Russia.
Beautiful views of the city and landscape. The mosaic tiles tell a good story
Great expansive view of the city from above and learn about the former USSR relation with Mongolia.
You get good views of the city from the top of the hill and the murals depicting Russia and Mongolias past and friendship are quite stunning. There are better things to do in Mongolia for sure, I would advise getting out of UB as soon as possible and exploring the Gobi, but if you must be in Ulaambataar this is worth visiting.
Beautiful memorial with history behind it, commemorating the strong relationship between Russia and Mongolia and honouring the fallen soldiers from world war 2. Overlooks Ulaanbaatar and remember to bring your camera and snap some panoramic pictures! Also be prepared to trek numerous stairs as this monument is atop a very large hill!
I am usually not into memorials when traveling, but has a really nice view and definitively worth a taxi ride here
Great view of the city. The monument itself is rather interesting, but not necessarily amazing unless you are a huge fan of history - even then, it seems somewhat "meh". Still, definitely worth the climb for the view, and during the summer there is usually a man with an eagle you can hold and get pictures with.
Love the Zaisan Memorial mainly for the view and it is a challenge to go up the stairs. There are few refreshment and little hand painted crafts on the way but most enjoyable thing is the view at the top.Be careful when to go though as weather conditions play a huge part in your experience and I recommend the warm spring summer and autumn days. Not great for winter, rain of other conditions you dont like.
