Yuzo Sushi Tapas in Norman

We went to Yuzo about 2 years ago and it was amazing, it was so tasty and the flavors exploded in your mouth, this time it was average, definitely not worth the price, we can get much better tasting sushi from other restaurants for about 30% less money. too bad it used to be a great place.

To start I did arrive 20 mins before closing because my car had broken down. I had asked on arrival if I was too late but they said it was fine. I have a food allergy (soy/wheat/dairywhich I informed the waiter of. I asked them to just remove those ingredients and he said they could/would without issue. He was very courteous and the appetizer/tea was good. When they brought the sushi we ordered however, they were smothered in sauces that had soy, dairy AND wheat in them. l told the mamager that we couldnt have those sauces. She said my allergens were not in the sauces. I researched it at the table and proved her wrong. She even brought out their ingredients book that ended up proving her wrong. Wasting even more time. She then said I shouldve mentioned my allergies when ordering. I told her I did mention my allergies to the waiter. She then insisted I brush off or eat around the sauces(the sushi was drenched in it AND ITS AN ALLERGY NOT JUST ME BEING PICKY). She had argued with us because she had already closed her kitchen and could not fix their mess up. So she was willing to just get me sick/send me to the hospital to just not deal with me and my allergy. Not only that she had wasted so much of our time now there was nowhere else I couldve gone to eat. This was the worst mistreatment Ive ever received. I will never eat there again as long as that same manager is there. They are going to kill someone with allergies if they dont shape up. I couldve had a much worse night if I had trusted them.

Food was good. Restaurant atmosphere was nice. A little bit pricy for a sushi roll. I would eat here again if a friend wanted to go, but theres so many sushi restaurants out there that its not one I would go again to.

So gross. Everything literally tastes like fish. No egg in there egg fried rice. Literally tasted our food and left. So if you want to pay for a fishy meal this is the place.

2 Stars for the Good food. Really the food was good. -3 for the service. You could count the customers on one hand and received slow service. .

Even after coming back 2 years later, this place still rocks! Sushi was cooked and delicious! Not busy at all for a Sunday afternoon! No reservation needed!

We ordered a steamed meat bun, and got a little.. bun taco thing? For some reason?I got the spicey miso soup, and the only meat was lil granular ground sausage. just floating around in it.The sushi was wrapped a little loose.I also heard the waitress make a comment about the person I came with, about how they look like a child. They were a full grown adult. why you gossiping while people are still in the restaurant, in ear shot?The broth was good tho9/22/2022 @ 3pm

Went here at Yuzo with my kids and enjoyed the service and the food. We were suppose to go to Tamashi but the wait was too long. Wevfound Yuzoby Google search. Im gladvwr did! Yuzo is located in the downtown area as well. There was no line and the place looks great! Very modern. They have a bar too. We all ordered their Garlic Ramen as well as several sushi and an appetizer. We were blown away by how great their food were. Happy hour from 3 to 6. The garlic Ramen ($10and the Karage ($5)was in their happy hour menu. The chicken karage were the size of a chicken strip. They were 5 pieces in an order. The garlic Ramen was very flavorful with savory broth. They didnt skimp on the noodles or the meat either. Having what we ate, except the sushi in their happy hour menu, saved us some $$. I will definitely go back there again! Plenty of parking too. I wish I had taken photos of our food to show but I didnt.

Super cool place! The food was great, and the presentation was also awesome. Also super cheap options for Saki and some food during happy hour. The Bartender was super nice, and the atmosphere was very comfortable. Highly recommend giving it a try sometime. *I dropped the ball and forgot pictures of the dishes, but trust me, looks and tastes good

This is becoming one of my favorite downtown spots. Very, personable and friendly service. The food and cocktails are unique, delicious and pretty. Walking distance for me, but also near trolley stop and they have plenty of parking. They also have great happy hour specials.

Great place! Good service, with amazing fresh and flavorful food. Highly recommend coming on a date night or with your best friend!Walking in, the ambiance was a little weird. Took a minute to get comfortable. I suggest sitting at the bar if you’re able in order to watch them make the sushi!The seaweed salad was my absolute favorite out of all the dishes, along with their hot sauce which seemed homemade!

I drove an hour to eat here and it was worth it. Food was excellent! We had sushi and I ordered gyoza and spicy ramen OMG so good.

The fish was very fresh and nicely presented. We also sampled a lot of their sake, which I quite enjoyed. Jude was on top of serving us and did a great job!

Honestly, this is my favorite sushi place in the city! Their happy hour prices EVERY DAY are great and it’s always fairly quick service. Their shrimp tempura is always my go-to paired with a lemon drop martini… don’t know it until you try it.They are open until 9pm on Sunday and Monday so I great option for those days when you need a late dinner.Today I opted for their ramen and it was such a huge portion that I took half home and could only finish half of my sushi. I do wish they cooked their soft boiled eggs just a little bit less for the runny yolk.

Came from out of town and wanted to treat ourselves to some sushi. This place was definitively the right choice. I had gotten the chicken rice bowl and my friend got a few sushi rolls himself. Paid about $12 for my bowl but it was a gooooddd portion. his sushi during happy hour was about $5-7 a roll. And the servers were extremely nice.

A hidden gem of a restaurant. Boasting a pleasing array and assortment of menu options, between an amazing Pork chashu bun, delicious ramen and a fantastic cut of Sashimi Yellowtail. I came here with mediocre expectations. One of which was due to landlock sushi. But came across the wonderful quality here. On my hunt for good sushi this place has passed my expectations and pleased my palate. I will be returning here again in the future.A must go to place for Sashimi heads like me. And ramen heads as well. Try the pork buns. Its a wonderful change of pace.

My girlfriend and I happened upon this place while trying to choose dinner one night. We got carry-out for the record, they got Yakisoba, I got a Chashu bowl, and we split an order of Chicken Kara-age (which the staff labeled as "Chicken Carriage" and has been a source of genuine delight for a few days.The staff were kind as we picked up our order, the food was still warm and delicious when we got to the house, weve already been back once and Im sure well be back again.

Lovely place and will come again. Loved the Pink Cod sushi and fried rice they had!

Ordered delivery & was a bit disappointed. Miso soup was all broth, no tofu/seaweed. Rolls were like 90% rice and very little tuna/scallops. It had good flavor just felt a little frustrated receiving 2 "rolls" that were basically just rice but cost $25. Photos for reference.

Came in during weekend lunch. Daughter order sushi and miso soup. Waiter failed to deliver the soup with our meal. After paging several times and starring down the waiter he finally returned to the table. Letting him know we are missing the soup. Eventually bringing the soup, and apologizing for the delay and he stated he would remove from the invoice. Fair enough, guess what he didn’t. You have to be kidding Me. Atmosphere was good, waiter not so much.

Really good. First time for me to have Ramen. The poke bowl was amazing and huge!Sushi nachos!

I love going here alot, they have the best garlic ramen in Oklahoma in my opinion, I came back again today and todays broth was absolutely amazing the best Ive had from them yet. I also had some chicken karaage which was amazing I subed the spicy mayo for some teriyaki which was nice and sweet without any bitter taste. The only gripe I could have was that the chase pork today was pretty tough then the usual fall apart tender that Im used to but overall Im still gonna consider this the best ramen spot in Oklahoma imo!

Ben was our server I highly suggest requesting him the next time you go in!I had the spicy miso ramen and my girlfriend also enjoyed her meal! Altogether it was an incredible experience on Valentine’s Day. Ben is the man

We had lunch at this restaurant. I would rate the experience as Okay. It was decent but nothing memorable at all. Service was really good. Decor needs help. Flavor was average. Hot Green Tea was out of tea bag and tells me the authenticity of a Japanese restaurant

Pretty good sushi. Ordered the lobster roll and spicy tuna. The lobster roll, albeit pricey is worth it. Plenty of lobster that’s buttery and delicious. Only negative is that no wasabi or ginger was included in my take out order.

Absolutely wonderful sushi the Dr.J was phenomenal it melts in you mouth the Max Meaguro, spider and banjo where also very good me and my wife will definitely be back.

I do not leave very many 5 star reviews on Google. Ive been to several sushi places in the Oklahoma city area, as well as in Indianapolis. These rolls were DELICIOUS. It was a little cool in the building, but not cold which was perfect for us. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful in choosing our rolls. I have to recommend the "Lobster Roll" or the "Big Easy." The Big Easy was flavored spectacularly, but if youre not a fan of Cajun or a bit on the spicy side, then I would steer more towards the Lobster roll. I recommend 110% to visit this comfortable and inspiring local gem.

After having a terrible morning, Marty was super sweet to us and made our day. He was super kind and patient! Food was great as well. Amazing experience :)

We ordered pick up and they brought it right out to the car and right on time. We bought Spicy Miso Ramen, Garlic Ramen and Yakitori Chicken Skewers. The Garlic Ramen was the best! Drank up every last drop. I also liked that they packed it in a bowl versus in some places its the hollow container which is not as comfortable to eat in. Do wish they labelled it cos we both got ramen and the base looked identical so didnt know which was which. The pork belly was a little over cooked and not as melt in the broth that we usually get. Overall excellent food! Would definitely go back for more!

Im a big fan of Yuzo Sushi Tapas boat for two and their fried calamari. Great quality and taste. We ordered mixed drinks off of the drink menu and they were amazing. Their selection of Japanese whisky and others is impressive. Parking is free here and theres a downtown tram stop very near, so lots of possibilities. Ill definitely be back soon!

Yuzo was good! Our server Elijah was really great. The favorite food was the potato croquettes, so yummy. The sushi was pretty good and they had a nice selection. The elotes roll was our group’s favorite roll. The scallop sashimi was delicious!

I had high expectations for this place since I’ve passed it on my drive home numerous times.. Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite what I expected. The flavor of the roll with the smoked salmon and capers was terrible. The fried roll was decent. Dumplings were gross, terrible texture and flavor. The chicken fried rice was best out of everything and as you can see they give you a nice size portion.Unfortunately, whoever I spoke to at the front had a poor attitude and asked me to recite my whole order to him while he held on to my food, even though I could see my name on the receipt. That was strange to me, I’ve never been asked to do that. Giving him my name/phone number should’ve been MORE than enough. (Please don’t do this to your black customers, it makes us feel a wayAnd I won’t be returning because of that.

I got a Poke bowl for lunch (takeoutand the Blue Crab Poppers. Fresh, delicious and very nicely presented! Quick and efficient! I cant wait to go back and dine in with my hubby!!Went back recently and service not as good. Ordered takeout and made the mistake of not checking when picked up. They left out my requested sauces and extras but charged for them. I am going to get my Poke fix somewhere else.Best Poke in Oklahoma is at One Cafe in Edmond.

Ordered through post mates took over 2 hours to get the food and it was cold and you could tell it was not fresh called the restaurant to see where my order way with no help at all noodles not fresh at all will never eat here again when in the okc area and post mates driver kept extending the time will also never use postmates again

Really good sushi bar. I typically order chef choice sashimi and ask for their freshest fish. Yuzo had excellent chefs and fresh sashimi.

Everything was pretty good but I wasn’t necessarily impressed. The broth and the noodles were amazing but the chashu was a little soft and not that flavorful but not bad. The ramen was perfect eating temperature when it came out but that meant it was cold by the time I was halfway through so it really should’ve been warmer. They forgot to give us chopsticks so I had to wait to eat until the waiter came by. The bathroom was pretty dirty too. Again it wasn’t bad, I just wasn’t impressed

We went there for our Valentines day dinner. It was our second time trying. We love the place! Their poke salad is superb. Everything in that salad is good by itself but together its even better. I especially love the picked cucumber thats in the salad. It is a meal itself. My family love karaage which is a boneless fried chicken. Breading has a great flavor but it comes with the dipping sauce which is pretty good too. We also had a couple of rolls. Smoke House has bleu cheese which you might think odd in the roll but it finishes the roll very well and but too strong. Im not a bleu cheese fan but I liked the roll. They had a special dessert for the occasion which was tempura icecream. I had not been impressed with fried icecream before but theirs was delicious! It finished our meals wonderfully. Well be visiting again.

All the food was delicious. The dishes were plated with so much attention that I didnt want want to destroy the chefs creations. No complaints here! They have oversized booths to accommodate large parties and the service was friendly and fast. There is also parking on the side of the building.

Came in on a random Tuesday to find happy hour all day, it was a nice surprise! Its convenient that they are open until 10 on a weeknight. The food came out pretty quickly, looked amazing and really hit the spot. We got the Philadelphia Roll (rightDragon Roll (middleand Spider Roll (leftand it was enough to feed 2 people. Will be coming back again! 👍😄

We went to Yuzo tonight, and didn’t know what to expect.We entered, and it’s clean and bright, with a good vibe. We really liked the feel.We started with their house salads, and I can’t praise this enough. The toasted sesame dressing was very unique, but delicious. We kept the cups for the dressing to scrape more out.All of the other items that we had were great. I would highly recommend the Poke Bowl, and the rainbow roll was amazing. The freshness of the fish was really evident, and the amount of fish per roll was great.

Everything was beautifully prepared and was so full of flavor! I loved their philadelphia roll and the bombshell roll . the creamy wasabi was awesome . loved the miso soup and salad . The service was awesome as soon as my group entered the beautiful atmosphere . so relaxing !

Such amazingly fresh and clean fish! We had the Dr. J, Lobster Roll, Rainbow Roll, and Escolar sushi. I would highly recommend this place for top notch sushi and great service. Well done Yuzo, well be back!

It was my first time there and I was thoroughly impressed. Cant believe I missed this place for this long. The atmosphere is very nice. You dont have to dress up too much to go, but you could also fit in if you dressed up for a date night. I would also recommend this place for bringing groups. The booths they have are perfect for a good group of people who want their own space to hang out.As for the food, that was top notch too. For 2018, they just came out with a new menu. We had two different sushi rolls, and shared the dumplings. Everything tasted so unique from each other and I was glad when we went with the suggestions the waitress gave us.Overall I recommend this place if you want great sushi, atmosphere, and service! (Get the sake bombs too)

We had the potato korokke which was fantastic! We enjoyed Hana Lychee sake and dirty martinis! The atmosphere was cool and the service impeccable! We strongly recommend the Bombshell Roll, but every roll weve tried has been perfection!!

The atmosphere is cozy and trendy with a clean, classy look and soft, warm lighting. (Im not sure if that is a good description :x)Our waiter was very attentive. We sat at the bar and the sushi chefs were friendly.We order a lot of food because we have big appetites, no shame, and compulsion to try everything possible.Love Bug (cocktail): easy to drink, slightly sweet, juice-like, cant taste the alcohol but I ended up feeling it lolGreen Tea (cocktail): the description didnt sound green tea-like at all but it was actually really good. Not sure if it tasted like green tea though, but I only had a sip (my bfs drink)Salmon Sashimi: So very tasty. Our favorite of the night. That sauce or whatever is distinctQuail Egg Shooter: salty but not toooo salty. Strong ponzu (soytaste. I feel like it would have been better if ponzu was scaled back and lemon or yuzu juice was added or something.Shogayaki buns: Mmm, what you want in a bun. Yummy sauce. A good amount of the pork on it. I think that description sounds worse than I mean it lolSashimi Omakase: 4 pieces of tuna, 4 pieces of escolar, 4 pieces of salmon, 4 pieces of octopus. They all tasted fresh. Thick slices. I love that masago and pomegranate comes with it! Best octopus sashimi Ive tried in Oklahoma!Blue Crab Popper: omg too spicy. Like tongue on fire and not enough water helped. I was disappointed that it was too spicy to enjoy. I tried getting the stuffing out but even that was a little too spicy. But I imagine if other people tell them that, then they would decrease the spiciness.4 piece escolar sashimi, 4 piece eel: Ahh the eel was delicious, hearty. Right amount of sauce.Triple chocolate cheesecake: (as if all that food wasnt enough and I guess were masochistscreamy chocolate-y goodness with that crunchy stuff on top. Yup. A must for chocolate-lovers.We also had a snow maiden sake that was great because we like unfiltered sake but thats just a bottle you can get at a liquor store, maybe Byrons iunno but ya.

Great atmosphere and the albacore was honestly the best Ive had in a long time. Theyre still working some minor things out, but the service was great and the manager checked up on us multiple times to see if everything was great and even asked for feedback, so that was awesome. I would come back to see how the restaurant develops over time.
