Yuu Kitchen in Gitega
Description
Privilege
Cute restaurant serving Asian fusion food.Atmosphere and service were 10/10.baos: I wasnt blown away by the soft shell crab to be honest - wouldnt order again, Im not a fan of wasabi tho and it comes with some kind of wasabi mayo. The chicken one was slightly better, mainly due to the absence of wasabi.Sticky aubergine: good and very sweet, Id recommend getting a rice bowl. They were quite good (eaten with the rice- perhaps my fave dish.Chicken wings: very crispy, a bit oily but overall I liked themRice cake with spicy tuna: good dish, again not a fan of spicy mayo or fried rice cubes but they were super crispy and it was a good combo I guess - just not for me.Korean octopus: its just octopus with a dipping sauce! Good combo.Prawn and scallop dumpling: I was quite disappointed by this dish - the skin of the dumpling was a bit dry and the filling a bit bland in the end. Perhaps its because I had them after all the spicy mayo, wasabi mayo etc etc but I wanted to love them and just couldnt!Tha cassava cake with ice cream was nice, never had something similar before and I enjoyed it.Overall I asnt too impressed with the food. Im tired of having mayo literally everywhere, theres mayos with siracha sauce, or with wasabi, or with something else but its always mayo.Perhaps Asian fusion and its abuse of mayo just aret my vibe anymoreHaving said that, food quality was great, the presentation was also very nice and there was a good atmosphere.
MoreUnreal food, really nice atmosphere and service. A big group of us and food came quickly, great vegan options and the Vietnamese Irish coffee was mega. I was expecting good things but this really was excellent.
MorePleasantly surprised with the food. Recommend the short rib, pork belly bao and Soft shell crab (if you like wasabidynamite shrimp was also very nice. Staff were also lovely and very attentive :)
MoreGood food served in this restaurant. It’s nonetheless lacking balance and flavor. Staff is nice, service is very slow.
MoreReally great experience, quick service tasty food and a good vibe. One of the pieces of sirloin was a little tough but other than that no complaints! Salmon bao is a must
MoreWe came with a huge group but were served in a really friendly manner. The food and drinks were delicious! One of our favourites was the sticky miso aubergine, which I would definitely recommend!I would definitely come again.
MoreFantastic food, great staff. We came with a group of 17 without booking and they did not hesitate to provide aus with a table. I absolutely recommend it.
MoreReally stylish interior and nice Asian fusion food. We had a lovely girls’s evening. Dog friendly as well! Love the signature dishes and the bao. Especially recommend the aubergine. Minus one star as my friend order whiskey sour and the bartender didn’t know how to made it, and ended up making a very poor one by looking up the recipe online.
MoreNice atmosphere but food was very overpriced and they put too much sauce on everything…
MoreFood was amazing, can watch it being cooked in front of you. Prices are really reasonable too. Only issue I had was I was boiling in there, but it’s the open kitchen
MoreI had an amazing experience. The staff were the sweetest, the ambience was perfect and the service was really fast. Do try their soft shell crab bao and pork ribs. Thank me later!
MoreMy bf took me here for my birthday and I have to say i was quite disappointed. Music was very loud and the ambiance wasn’t very pleasant. The bao buns were pretty bad, I couldn’t finish them. Very pricey for what you get. Not returning here unfortunately.
MoreDelicious food and super friendly service! Some of the best Asian food I’ve ever had. Recommend the chicken bao and the pickles! Amazing!
MoreBeautiful food as always. We always stop by here when we are in London.
We booked this place for bottomless brunch and we didnt know what to expect as bottomless brunches can be very hit and miss. The service from the minute we got there was exceptional. They were so so lovely and accommodating. Shout out to Sol, Marion and Patricia. Also very quick to top up our prosecco, which is most important. Thank you guys, you made it great!
MoreThis is a place you do not want to miss. The food was so good. The sweet and sticky eggplant was to die for. I had both the 7up braised pork belly bao and the soy and buttermilk crispy chicken which were both fantastic. Their signature drinks are also very refreshing. One of the best meals I had in London!
MoreVery good experience, lovely atmosphere And the food was amazing. Was hosted by chef Andy, who made us feel very welcome. Try sit by the bar and see Andy do the art work. Thanks Andy for making our experience so welcoming
MoreA friend and I booked the “Bottomless Bao and bubbles” here. The food is super tasty! But It was a set menu with 4 small courses including just 1 bao bun each. It was enough food but not the “bottomless bao” I was expecting, but that’s my fault for listening to marketing words and not reading the fine print 😅. That being said the Prosecco was topped up frequently and generously. The restaurant was lovely and the art work around added a great ambience. The staff were also all lovely! A great overall experience!
MoreLovely environment, lovely food. Definitely my kind of place! Id eat here any week (I actually do). All of their bao is great. Personal favourites: chicken wings, mushroom bao
Morewe had 7 of their bao buns. we particularly enjoyed the mushroom, crispy chicken and salmon one; the pork belly and panko were ok, but would not recommend the salmon or the tofu ones (the sauces they came with were acidic and ruined the flavour to me). we also ordered the miso aubergine which was fantastic. the padron peppers were instead undercooked and at £7.20 you would really expect a lot more on the plate. service was very efficient, but overall not sure worth the price tag
MoreThe food is really good, theres a nice environment and decoration and the open kitchen is fantastic. The baos were not the best of the menu at all! Pork lechon is just an experience you have to go through!Service is good but we were a bit disappointed - at the end of the meal they brought two cups of sake and they just said "for you ladies" so we understood it was on the house. After we had touched it, when we were going to serve it, a waitress came and said it was an error and took it directly to another customer. In such a type of restaurant, if you make that mistake, you leave it and serve another to other customers (specially after weve touched it).
MoreWe had the bottomless brunch here and it was wonderful!I booked to celebrate my partners birthday and was not disappointed. The brunch set menu was fantastic and they give alternatives for vegans/veggies and allergies. The bottomless Prosecco was flowing and they give an option for bottomless beer.Would definitely return again!
MoreYuu Kitchen has been highly recommended by several of our friends and sadly the overall experience was really average for us…First off, we had a reservation but waited a fairly long time to get seated as a group in front us tried to get a table and actually didn’t have a reservation (nothing wrong with that in general but prioritising customers with a reservation would have been better in my opinion). The overall service was ok but we felt like some of the waitresses weren’t too sure about what they were doing and a few incorrect dishes came to our table whereas these were actually meant for the table next to us. Now, on to the food itself, we ordered two baos each (one duck, two wagyus and a pork bellyand two mains (baby back ribs and pork lechon+ a side of steamed rice with sesame and we still got home hungry! Portions were definitely on the smaller side and everything tasted fairly bland (except the baos which were actually pretty good and well seasoned). Anyway, I’m still putting two stars and not just one because the 50% discount on the food bill made the whole evening a bit more acceptable but otherwise prices are just way too high for the quality you get in the plate. We won’t return…
MoreHad a very pleasant experience here. Would recommend.Tried a few of the signature dishes - Wagyu Bao, Tuna Tostada, Chicken Karaage. Everything was super fresh, full of flavor and texture. If I had to pick my favorite from the three, I’d go with Chicken Karaage. The Ginger Ninja cocktail was really tasty. It had a nice balance between bitterness and sweetness. The atmosphere is lively, but just the right amount of music and noise to be able to have a conversation with a person across the table. And the service was good too.
MoreThe place is quite cool. Nice atmosphere. The service was nice and attentive. All dishes were super tasteful and well seasoned. The pork lechón, the sweet and sticky eggplant and the chicken karaage were my favourites. Also the Ube cassava cake dessert was delicious. I had highs expectations about the wagyu bao, but unfortunately it was my least favourite. The portions could be bigger for the price thought. Still highly recommended.
MoreOne of my favourite spots in London! The food is absolutely delicious, the must have for us are the chilli&salt edamame, the chicken karaage, the Thai sausages with bao buns, the aubergine and the deep fried bao bun with ube ice cream. The staff are attentive, professional, friendly and really welcoming. We love sitting at the bar and watching the staff prepare the food. It’s a 10/10 from us every time!
MoreRandomly saw this gem, saw that the menu comprised of decent vegan options and after reading the profile on one of the owners (outside), decided to pop in to have just a BAO. Enchanted by the awesome eclectic artwork along with excellent customer service, I enjoyed my evening which included meeting various staff members. Met the owners too. All of whom are lovely people 💯FoodOrdered more than a bao! Also had Kimchi Chips and the cassava dessert which was amazing.10/10 food10/10 customer service10/10 venue mainly due to the fantastic artwork on walls😀
MoreSo before the food we have to speak about John.Whatever ingredients you used to make John, cook up an extra batch! Service was 10 out of 10.We were going to walk out since we were worried about the food being cooked with pork or Alcohol, John went through the menu and marked everything that was halal friendly.Superb service, really made it a pleasant experience. The Karage, Kimchi Fries and Wagyu Beef Bao was 9/10The crab Bao had a slight fishy smell but tasted good.Would definitely recommend 🙂
MoreFive stars all round! First date night since COVID and what a great night we had. The food was amazing, very tasty and can’t fault it at all. Make sure you try the bao ice cream - it’s like a hot doughnut with ice cream, it was our favourite. The staff are really polite and friendly too which makes the experience much better. Really impressed with one chefs chilli chopping skills - a great entertaining night!
MoreDelicious food, it is like a tapas style but Japanese food. Even single dish did not dissapoint. The mocktail YUUKIWI is a must order here.
MoreMy husband and I shared a Love Box last week and it was absolutely amazing! The instructions were simple and the QR code provided brings up a video of John (the chefshowing you how its done! The pork belly melts in your mouth and the yuzu miso sauce for the salmon was divine. The shichimi gives the chocolate dessert a nice little zing but isnt overpowering at all! It comes with a large portion of edamame, two fortune cookies, half a cucumber and an entire lime. Very filling, probably good for 3 people as opposed to 2 - we ended up eating the rest the next day! All in all, good value and a nice change from ordinary home-cooked food.
MoreIve always had a great time visiting this place. Aside from having the food right - genuine Southeast Asian, Filipino flavours ( cant speak more about the Lechon- the whole experience and warmth of the place from the nicely designed street-art filled walls to the amazing staff, and most especially Chef Jon. It feels like going back home to meet friends every time. I hope the situation in the UK will be better soon so I can go back and enjoy the nice meals and drinks here again.
MoreIf you’re wanting something a little different from your usual Chinese and Thai spots then this is the place to go. They’re very inventive with their dishes with incredible flavours and textures throughout, you can be a bit adventurous with your choices and know that it’s going to taste amazing. Highly recommend the soft-shelled crab bao and salt and pepper squid
MoreDelicious buns, recommend to try the crab one - it was my favourite !!! We ordered a couple of buns and other bits - everything was really tasty ! Smiling and welcoming staff ! The desert with ube ice-cream was a nice discovery :). Reasonable price. We will come back
MoreOur 4th time here and amazing as always. We spoke to the owner and he is a lovely guy! Probably our favourite place in London for asian cuisine with filipino twist.
MoreThis was a great experience of Asian tapas-style dining. The atmosphere was great was friendly staff, and the food was to die for. The baos were fluffy, karaage was crispy and the eggplant was sweet and sticky. Go here!
MoreGood looking food. Taste alright, I cannot say tasty as they are oily and make me feel a little bit sick after eating... Very friendly service, nice environment for friends gathering for snacks and drinks.
MoreWow! What a wonderful gem in the Spitafields area! We visited on a Sunday night and decided to seat at the kitchen, where we had the chance to see the chefs preparing amazing dishes! The service was very quick and friendly! Food was delicious, nicely presented and good portions! I would definitely recommend visiting Yuu Kitchen, for its stunning interiors as well as for the yummy food served! You will love it!
MoreWow what a find! We were staying in London at a hotel not too far away and were a bit lost as to where to go for dinner. So I tapped into Google for a place near by and this place popped up. It had really good reviews and we found out why! The food was marvellous, different and really tasty. The staff were really friendly and helpful pointing us out the right dishes for us. Highly recommend this place and their amazing pigs ear dish.........yes I did say pigs ears!
MoreQuite simply phenomenal! Sumptuous small plate street food in a casual communal style setting (think Wagamama on high tableswith an open kitchen surrounded by quirky decor. Perfect for groups but equally a great choice for date night. We were fortunate enough to get a walk-in table but would highly recommend making a reservation - popularity and its intimate size make for a full house and vibrant atmosphere. The menu explores South East Asia, from Taiwanese bao buns and Japanese raw fish to Vietnamese rolls and Filipino delicacies. Everything packs a burst of intense flavours and contrasting spices. Our highlights were the crispy pig ears and chicken inasal from the pinoy dishes and the chicken karaage. The choice of bao fillings are also superb! The only dish to disappoint surprisingly, was the famed lechon kawali. Definitely ask for the dessert menu, the pandan suman malagkit is elegantly presented and a fantastic balance of caramel and coconut to round off an amazing evening meal. Plenty more to try on the menu, including an innovative cocktail list, so will be visiting again :-)
MoreWhat amazing surprise!!!The place is well decorated, has a great atmosphere and the all team are excepcional! The food is perfect, I dont have another word to describe! The place serve small portions, like some tapas, so for one person they recommend 3-4 dishes and about 7 to share.I highly recommend you to try this place! Youll be impressed just like me!We had: pork chicharon, beetroot dumpling, crispy pigs ear, baby back ribs, Thai chicken larb and a portion of steamed rice! To drink I chose a green lemon bubble tea (soooo good!and my husband got a pint of Neck Oil!Ps: sorry for the pictures but the food was looking so delicious that I just remembered to take pictures after started to eat! 😅
MoreTreat your taste buds to a riot of sensational South East Asian flavours, London style, while you share a series of small plates with your mates .. We tried several vegetarian dishes which were all delicious ... loved the bao buns, empanadas, Japanese potato salad, cauliflower and sweet n sticky egg plant.
Moredecide to give this a try after coming across it on Time out London, as i happened to be in the area. The idea of the restaurant is like an Asian Tapas style place, so all the menu items come in small sharing portions, so you would pick 3 or 4 of these as your meal. The three dishes i picked were really tasty i also tried a bubble tea for the first time which was excellent. id say overall pricing wise it is not too bad for a London restaurant but i wouldnt do this every week. I also had a dessert which didnt look great but was very tasty and i can say that even though the potions are small when having 3 or 4 of them you will still end up full. will be happy to go back and try a different combination of dishes.
MoreThe food was really nice, they have a nice menu with plenty to choose from. The octopus karaage was our favourite. We took their draft beer and it went well with all the dishes we ordered. Although we didnt reserve we got a place at the bar next to the chefs and it was quite nice. Service was OK, timely but a bit impersonal. The atmosphere is cool!
MoreReally nice food and decor, would recommend. Never tried Filipino food before so cant say anything about how authentic it was but it certainly tasted good. The crispy pigs ears were an unexpected treat! Would recommend the baby octopus too. We ordered 3 dishes each as 3-4 was recommended and that was more than enough as we werent particularly hungry and the portions were bigger than expected. The service was a bit slow but very welcoming and helpful.
MoreAbsolutely wonderful place! The kitchen is open so you can see the chefs preparing the food. Each dish is full of flavour and beautifully presented. The staff are also very kind and welcoming.I will go there again as soon as I have the chance!
MoreDelectable, inspired morsels of fusion Asian affair. THE RIBS ARE WHERE ITS AT! 🍖We were lucky enough to come on the day of a new menu. The waiters... although a little overly enthusiastic... were attentive, warm and knowledgable. Service was excellently fast. We found the menu to have lovely flavour profiles... but everything was a bit heavy. I would say they were indulgent snacks. The bao lacked in fillings... so the bread ...although with a delicious texture... was too big for its menial filling. Overall its a fun place for a quick bite or a date. Lovely bathrooms.
MoreDelicious food with lovely service and unique decor. An overall excellent experience and meal. The food is all prepared in front of you if you are sitting at the bar. Watching the chefs barbecue various things was very interesting.Staff were all friendly and polite. Service was prompt.I really enjoyed the Bao buns, looking forward to trying more of the menu next time.Prices are reasonable but I felt £5.80 for one Bao bum was slightly on the high side.
MoreI have been here 3 times and will continue to visit as it is excellent in the food, drinks, layout, art work, service everything. This picture is only one dish ... Was too hungry and forgot to take more but the presentation is always great. I have had fresh crab from here and it tasted amazing. The money isnt too expensive I honestly think it is worth every penny.
MoreWe popped into this restaurant expecting to be underwhelmed. We were totally wrong! Went for the taster menu. It was amazing! Lovely dishes, lovely cocktails. The aubergine dish was spectacular, Im not keen on aubergine but this was incredible. Service is great too, seems like the staff have a real passion for what theyre doing. P.S. Dont miss the aubergine!!!
