Their Tangsuyuk (Porkis the best!
I love their Gan-Jja-jang (black bean sauce with lots of diced fried onion and noodleand Tang-su-yuk (sweet and sour fried pork)
This is my family’s go to Chinese restaurant - food and service is great here. They always have a good pot of tea ready to be served.I recommend their Kung Pao shrimp, Mongolian beef, sweet and sour pork, and the black bean noodles. They have a wide range of seating options, large and small. There’s valet parking lot in the back.
Korean-style Chinese food, famous for their Tangsuyuk and Jajangmyeon.
Sweet & Sour Beef is on another level!
Koreatown in the Chinese restaurant is the most delicious place that is the most delicious. Especially tang. Kancho Tsu. This is a gem. Fully remove.
I found a fried fly in my rice and when we alerted the waitress she didnt even apologize. They must be more careful.
Jja Jang Myun is the best Ive had. Their sweet and sour pork (Tang-soo-yookis to die for. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is the aesthetics of the interior. If aesthetics isnt of any concern, then its definitely a 5-star eatery.
Ive been coming here since I was a kid. Love this place. Cant miss spot whenever Im in LA.They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays y’all
Best Korean Chinese fusion food. Its a classic when it comes to Korean food.
Delicious food with plenty of seating! The service is a bit slow but that could be because of short staff. The servers speak both korean and English so there wont be any loss in translation.
Amazing place to eat, phenomenal food and friendly staff. Our family has been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years. The staff treat and welcome us like family.
A Chinese restaurant opened by Chinese but cater mainly Korean customers due to the Chinese boss migration from Korea. The food is great and the service is excellent and responsive
This is an iconic Korea town place. The food is excellent. You have to get their jjajangmyun and their sweet and sour pork. Its so addictive. One of the best places outside of Korea for those dishes. The place is large and still looks like its from the 80s which for this place gives it its charm. Id you are in the LA area you have to visit this place to make your LA visit official. My family has been coming here for three generations. Recommend all the way.
One of the best Korean Chinese food you can get in LA. Same owner since 1985.
Sometimes I order jjampong here but today I got really bad experience. Panda fortune cookies paper was inside noodle soup. Careful guys.
Food 5/5Service 4/5Atmosphere 4/5Cost: FairProbably the best Korean Chinese food in Koreatown. The sweet and sour pork has no competition.
Then there is the best there ever was, is, and ever will be Young King Chinese Restaurant!!!!! Been coming here since I was 7 in 1987. First restaurant off the plane from LAX. 30+ years and still going strong!
Young king has been our families’ go to restaurant for Koreanized Chinese food for almost two decades. I can’t say that I love their food without some bias. Please come by and try their food. It never fails to fill me and make me happy.
Young King is my favorite Chinese Korean spot. Once you call your order in, it is ready to pick up really quickly, like around 10-15min.They were only take out during the pandemic. When I went to pick up my food again, they are open for in dining. It is quite nice to see lots of people enjoying the food because I want Young King to be here for a long time for my cravings.I always get the jjajangmyun and tangsooyoo. Tangsooyoo is available in either beef or pork. I personally think the pork taste better and that makes sense since it is originally a dish made out of pork. The tangsooyoo batter is so light, airy, but also the perfect amount of crunch. The jjajangmyun is perfect. The sauce has the perfect amount of veggies and meat to sauce ratio. The noodles are authentic think jjajangmyun noodles. If you order take out, they package everything separately to keep things tasting perfect when you eat at home. The tangsooyoo is not closed all the way and taped to keep it crunchy on the drive home.I also notice the staff speaks Korean and Chinese. So this place is legit.I wish I took pictures but everytime I order my food here I cant wait and just devour it 😋
We eat Young King over 22 years. Always delicious!
3-8-21- YES they are OPEN. Now Open Have been here many times over the years. ALWAYS GREAT SERVICE and FOOD. Have dined in(before COVID-19), and many times to go. The owners are GREAT PEOPLE. You need to check them out! 👍🥢🍴 PS They are closed Monday
Quality has gone way down hill. We have been coming here for decades and it used to be our go to place for black bean noodles. Today, we ordered three items. The black bean noodles was decent, but not as good as before. My MIL got a mushroom and bamboo dish and it was overly sweet and under seasoned. The Fried Shrimps with spice was the biggest disappointment. Shrimp was overcooked and chalky. The breading and shrimp were completely unseasoned. I regretfully write this review during a difficult time for all businesses, but this was a major disappointment, especially for $50.
They use a lot more vegetables in the ingredients. They reduced amount of meats and seafoods. I dont understand why they increase the price when they use vegetables a lot more than meats or seafood. In Jjajangmyun, it is hard to find one small piece of meat. Food taste is ok. They did get A from the health department but I do not think it is right. I did see their kitchen by accident but it was dirty.
Hands down my favourite restaurant. I love coming here, I eat out alone and this place is so accommodating! Also with a group of friends. Favourite dishes include rice noodles, garlic green beans and hot and sour soup!
Hands down my favourite restaurant. I love coming here, I eat out alone and this place is so accommodating! Also with a group of friends. Favourite dishes include Singapore style rice noodles, garlic green beans and hot and sour soup!
Great customer service, service was quick, the food was okay.. could have been more flavored. Ive eaten at other Korean restaurants that had more flavor to their food. But overall, it was nice.
One of the oldest Korean style Chinese restaurants in LA. Because it is so old, it doesnt draw a young crowd and many might rate it low thinking that it is a crummy dilapidated mom and pop restaurant. But this is not its true face. If you want to have a good time at Young King, you have to get very specific things on the menu. Only regulars know this, so here we go:1. Chicken Tang Soo Yuk (not pork not beef)1.1 For this be sure to make a sauce for yourself 2 part soy sauce, 1 part vinegar, sprinkle some red pepper on top. (its all on the table)2. Mongolian Beef (one with a ton of green onion)3. Kung Pao Shrimp4. Black bean noodle5. JJam PPong (spicy mixed seafood noodle)6. Yaki Mandu (fried dumpling, dip sauce from no.1)Theres a reason this place does so well with what seems like mediocre reviews on yelp and google. Its actually a gem just hiding in plain sight.
I ordered Liu San Si(dish with sea cucumber, shrimps, scalop and some vegiesto go. It costs $30 and I know it is a bit expensive for one dish but the ingredients are expensive so I understand it. The to-go plastic bag usually has a styrofoam container for food and wrapped chopsticks with napkins, and two sets of paper boxes one for sliced raw onions and black sauce, another for chinese version of korean kimchi. The onion slices, I counted as 4 pieces, were thin and dry with no juice. Onion slices are supposed to be at least half full of the box and thicker and juicier. The stirred roasted Liu San Si had too much oil in it and a few small shrimp in the food tasted just bland as if they were previously boiled for soup base for other food and then later added to this dish. This restaurant has been at the place almost half a decade and known for cheaper price for older generations.I order lunches from this place durning the weekdays for a cheaper grap of lunch meal because it is located near to my office. This rather pricier meal was totally waste of money and really disappointed by their quality control.I will not order any dishes over $15 from this restaurant because this place is for cheap lunches only.Just cross the street of Olympic bl, you can find Shin Bei Jing chinese restaurant or near Olympic and vermont ave you also can find Dragon Palace Chinese restaurant, both of which also has been there more than half a decade, and better quality food and dining experience.
Good food, they were really busy, perhaps because it was dinner time... Service was fast, and friendly. It was not the best, but good. Entering through the back door facing the parking lot - made me feel like entering a employee access doors.
This restaurant has awesome food and excellent service. My favorite dishes are the fried shrimp with the thick, spicy garlic sauce; their Mongolian beef is just so flavorful with the perfect amount of seasoning and green onions; and lastly but definitely not least, is their fried chicken with the same spicy, garlic sauce as the aforementioned fried shrimp. This dish is just as good too. These, to me, are their stand-out entrees that you would be hard-pressed to find at any other Korean-Chinese restaurant. You will not regret coming to visit this place especially since their other dishes, including their noodles and fried rice are so, so good. The best time of the day to visit is between noon and 5pm because there is usually a wait if you visit around dinner time. The price of the food is so worth it when it comes to the flavor and taste as well the service that accompanies your stay.
I love their Tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork). Parking can be a big problem since the parking lot is small. But it is worth it to have their sweet and sour pork.
Arguably one of the best Korean-Chinese restaurants in town. If you were to ask me what Young King is known for, I wouldn’t know what to say BUT... overall, I think they do most of their plates better than most all other places...I would recommend:-Sweet & Sour spork-Kung Pao Shrimp-Mongolian Beef-Black bean noodles-Hot & Sour soup-Combo fried rice
Been here many times. Part of our rotation of 5-6 ktown restaurants we frequent.Their lunch specials are ok. But none include their chachiang mein. Also, the food comes out fast. Even before they can get you your tea. This time, was for dinner and we got the Young King beef and mapo tofu. The beef was flavorful and tender. The mapo tofu was good and had a nice kick to it. Only thing we didnt like were the big chunks of ground pork. Took away from the flavor of the sauce. Next time we get the dish, well get it sans ground pork.
Every time i went this restaurant, I always having yummy foods!!! and I love to recommendations to everyone!!!
Yum! Ordered the jjajangmyun 짜장면, jjamppong 짬뽕 and tangsuyuk 탕수육. Everything was tasty! I usually dont like 탕수육 because places will sometimes put the sauce on the meats, which makes it have a soggy texture. Here they have it separate. The noodles were great as well. Def worth a try!
WATCH OUT!!! I did valet and they LOST my car. They dont have insurance. They dont do anything. Ive been going this place more than 20 years. I guess it doesnt matter to them. They just want my money. They didnt even give the valet fee $2.00 back.
Something about the rice they use is very delicious love the chicken fried rice, the sizzling rice soup is good. I been coming here with my parents since I was 5. Im 36 now and still come here, no lie its changed a bit but food is bomb
We enjoy the sweet n sour fried pork dish, kungpau shrimp dish and many many different signature dishes.Owner is always super nice. Staff does excellent job. Thanks
I came here every year my family member who loves Korean Chinese food; not sure if I want to anymore. I love this place but it would be fantastic if the owner took time to have the place cleaned up. Ive seen the same stain on the same table 2 weeks apart; I wouldnt recommend it to patients who may be taking immunosuppresants. Food is ok.
Ive been eating here almost 20 years when I was younger my parents brought me...now I bring my family & my 2 young girls love the Jajang myun (noodles& kung pao (spicy shrimp). Very good Chinese food at a very reasonable price. The decor could use a lil updating but personally Im not eating the furniture so as long as its clean Im good!!!
If youre looking for bomb ass Korean version of Chinese food this is the place to be. Parking offers valet services and it offers pretty big areas for big parties as well. Most popular dishes are.. well its pictured and I dont want to translate it from Korean to English so ask your server.Wont be disappointed though, thats for sure.
The spring rolls were very good. We made a mistake ordering the mushrooms and bamboo shoots and mushrooms and chicken as they were the same dish except for the chicken. The mushrooms were not very good, but the resulting sauce was very tasty. Some of the meat plates at the other tables were piled quite high with what looked like chunks of meat.
Kang Pong Chicken very good. Huge amount of food. Enough for two people at least. I really like this place. Also, their Chicken Chow Mein is made very well and is big quantity.
Good Restaurant, good service. Hispanic Employees there and Also they probably speak Chinese too. (And Korean/English)
Better than some Korean Chinese food that I had in Korea!! It was amazing. We had Jjajjangmyun(black noodles), seafood spicy noodles and sweet and sour pork, and they really know how to do sweet and sour pork!! It was amazing :Loved it, totally will return.
It has very great foodI liked the beef and broccoli
