Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Warning Tongue Ln, Old Cantley, Doncaster DN4 6TB, Bury
Wildlife park with walking safaris through a lion reserve, as well as tigers, meerkats and lemurs.
So much to see and do, we spent all day there and we still didnt finish going round. All the animals have lots of space and looked really well cared for, it was lovely and clean. I wish there was more hands on things such as holding bugs and maybee an outside play area but we had a really good day , highly recommended.
It was awesome here! Loved going around to see all the animals, there were actually plenty you wouldn’t normally see such as polar bears and painted dogs. Especially enjoyed a certain lion rolling around on the floor before me, you’ll get lots of laughs seeing what the animals can do! Only one thing that wasn’t as great was the gift shop pricing, but as it’s optional anyway it didn’t really impact my review. I made sure to donate £1 to the zoo on my way out because of my great time, I’m sure you’ll enjoy yourself too!
Had a great time here. We purchased annual passed in 2020 and due to lockdown didnt get to visit much as visiting was limited to booking only once the park reopened and it was always fully booked when we were able to go. We had planned on visiting every other weekend with the passes so we were all disappointed and it has put me off buying them again as I feel they were a complete waste of money. The park is absolutely massive and all the animal enclosures are spacious and the animals are clearly happy and well looked after. Staff are great and very helpful when you need them. Plenty of places to purchase food and drink and a good amount of toilets. Theres a massive playpark and a few smaller ones too. I do feel current prices are very steep and was even more shocked at the price of the winter illuminations especially for the crisis we are in at present. All in all with my personal gripes aside its a great wildlife park. Good for all the family and a full day out jam-packed with things to see and do
The park is well laid out and has plenty of attractions with nice open spaces and viewing platforms to see the animals. We went in October and as such wasnt overly busy. Negative here is that the number of eating places were reduced at this time of the year and the food is not cheap. There are a few picnic areas though and these are undercover. Advice is then take your own refreshments
This is a well spaced out wildlife Park the animal enclosures are some of the best Ive seen. The whole park is extremely clean and beautiful and the play areas are great. Food and drinks prices reasonable. Only suggestion I would make is to have a little more to look at whilst walking from area to area and slightly more viewing platforms / tunnels to some of the enclosures. On the whole a great day out.
Wonderful place to visit with large areas for the animals... and the only place in England you can see polar bears, seeing them playing is a huge treat as there are two young ones at present. Be aware to does cover a large area so plan to be there most of the day. Great dinosaur area and plenty of play areas for the kids as well.
Booked using Kids pass, immediately saved around £4 on an adult ticket. Arrived for 9am and the park was quiet until around 11am (on a Saturday). A brilliant day out, we stayed for around 6 hours to see everything at a leisurely pace. Also, the dinosaurs were AMAZING!
Spend a full day here ,there is lots to see and do. Its a long track round but if you have the full day just take your time and take in all the lovely animals and sights. The dinosaur displays are brilliant and well worth a walk round. The only comment I could make to make it better is the ground, it is very unsafe in places, far too many stones and gravel under foot, not good for wheelchairs or prams. Ok for able body people but people with walking aids have to be careful they dont slip on the loose pebbles. The restaurant is great for kids and adults the dinosaur theme is fantastic for the kids. The prices are a bit steep but you pay for the experience as well as the food. Will I return...Yes. Im sure there is more to see.
So well laid out with lots of space in the enclosures. Great natural pools for the polar bears who clearly loved them. Also saw one of the tigers in her waterfall 😻.Plenty of picnic areas, toilets and refreshment stops throughout. Also lots of keepers on hand to ask questions etc..I had a fabulous day out and will definitely return regularly.
Brilliant day out. Very clean and lots of seating. Play areas for kids and large enclosures for the animals. Also the walk throughs were fab. Would recommend.A water bottle refill station would be handy!
A clean, well thought out space with good quality food. The animal enclosures feel like they are definitely designed for each species putting the animal first. This does mean that on occasion you may not see the animal at all as they may be in an inaccessible area or just really good at hiding. For example the leopards and the hyenas. The food is pricey but worth it as soon they are made from good quality products. The retail shops are also good quality boutiques. It is exceptionally clean and well maintained. A perfect family day out with plenty of playgrounds. The glamping experience was a little expensive but very comfortable. It is quite a long way on foot though.
An awesome place to visit!A great day out for families! Definitely worth visiting!Id suggest arriving early to avoid a long wait to get in!Its just a shame that a small minority cant adhere to the no smoking/vaping around the site. Other than that, a brilliant day!
This has to be by far one of the best wildlife parks in the UK. Its definitely one of my top 3 now. Being able to see polar bears in person has been an amazing experience!! You can really tell the park puts the animals first. Also a great place for children of all ages, so much for them to do.
We had a wonderful day out with the kids. The animals looked amazing and all have great enclosures. As always a visit to the zoo is bittersweet, but its nice to see such care has been taken to create appropriate environments for the animals.
A very well kept wildlife pard with great information on each species you see good selection of places to eat and good retail shop. With the addition of the hotel on site and great small shops make for a great day out. We went when to the Saturday concert day and saw Russell Watson in concert. Again there were good facilities including Food and drinks Gifts and special offers for future events. Prices were very good and even the gold experience was only £58 including parking next to the concert field so with all packages including the day in the park great value. Can’t recommend it more highly.
Great Park. Can almost be described as a waking safari. Have a good range of animals. Amazing to see polar bears! Couldn’t see any leopards when we visited. Tip: Book tickets online in advance as ticket lines can be big. Fair bit of waking so wear comfy shoes. Allow at least 2-3hrs. Food and drink is very expensive inside. Slush drinks are rubbish. Machines didn’t work on the scorching day we visited.
Would recommend going anytime after mid day as most people with young kids are going home soon after lunch. The staff are so friendly and helpful, made a good experience excellent. Excellent customer service goes a long way. Only thing I would add is there should be more wheelchairs for people with disabilities, as it’s such a big place. Would I recommend ? Yes. Would I go again ? Yes.
Really beautiful day.We wanted to see polar bears and it didnt disappoint. We saw them all. Hyenas, lions, tiger and so much more were a lovely bonus. The Whitney concert after was also fab. Super day. Thank you YWP
First time at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, we had a great day out. We stayed for the Whitney tribute concert in the evening too. The concert was really good and well organised we recommend priority parking for that or youd have a half an hour walk back to the car. The only negative point was we found priority parking hard to find not sign posted so we got lost lol.The zoo was really good, plenty to see and the enclosures were lovely. Our favourite was the Polar bears. Everywhere was kept clean and tidy and the staff were all friendly and super helpful. Lots of lovely play areas and kiosks and places to eat ,will definitely return.
Loved the new Dinosaur exhibit, will definitely visit again. Ticket prices are more than fair for what you can see and do. Food and drink on site is a little pricey as is the gift shops however that is standard at most places similar to this. Over all this is a great place to visit and is very educational, my 5 year old loved it.
Great day out lots of interesting animals to see hear their stories as keepers tell their stories at talks throughout the day. Polar bears are wonderful to watch, perfect place for younger children lots of different play grounds, loved the Dino park great attraction itself. Entertainment team at the zoo put on great shows all day at the entrance and shops in same place to pick up a perfect gift. Food bit limited and drinks over priced. Before buying tickets see if any offers on tickets and do buy before u go.
Went for my 30th birthday. First time since the extension and we had a great time. My family loved the new dinosaur part. It rained a lot so some animals weren’t out but we would definitely go again.
Amazing park! So many animals to see and plenty of picnic space and refreshment points. The park is huge and there’s loads of walking to get around everywhere. It takes a while to get around the whole park as they have so many animals. The polar bears are absolutely incredible! They’re a must see :)
Absolutely beautiful park. The animal enclosures are very big compared to other animal parks i have visited, so the animals all looked very happy and energetic. Just be prepared for quite a long walk to see all of the animals as the park is very big. Overall we had an absolutely amazing day, will 100% be back in the future and definitely recommend a visit, it is well worth it. Thank you yorkshire wildlife park for an awesome day ❤️😊
Wow, this place is fantastic, the polar bears are amazing, something we have never seen before, all the animals have great enclosures and look well cared for. Only downside was a few animals were hiding and we didnt see them. But the big cats and the larger animals were all easy to spot. The food was good and plenty of picnic areas and snacks available. Lovely gift shop and all the staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful.
Lovely park, quite big with a new dinosaur area - the dinosaurs make noise and move their tails and mouths. Great for a lovely day out with kids. It is a large park so there is quite a bit of walking but you can go for a few stops for a coffee/ice-cream break and at a few lovely play areas. The only downside was that the stairs were not accessible by pram and ticket at the door was £27 which seemed a bit pricey. Wed love to come back and its worth booking online for a substantial discount.
I went with my partner on Saturday. The heat meant a lot of the animals stayed indoors which was disappointing but hey, can’t really blame them! The animals we did manage to see were amazing - clearly happy and well taken care of - and it was nice to see such a wide variation of wildlife. The only downside was how pricey food and refreshment is but it’s a novelty at the end of the day. Would recommend bringing your own food/drink.
We loved how natural the park is, you really feel like youre seeing the animals in their natural environment. All the enclosures are spacious and so clean, the animals are clearly very well cared for. This however does bring a slight negative in that because the enclosures are so big, there was some animals we didnt get chance to see (we did visit on a very hot day which probably didnt help either). The park itself is also very big, it takes a long time to walk around meaning you do get almost a full day there. Although there was food, drink and toilets blocks around the park they are quite spaced out and we found them to be very busy. I would recommend taking a pack up and drinks with you. We chatted to a staff member who was by project polar who was very helpful and informative and clearly passionate about his job. We walked through the new dinosaur bit but mustve took a wrong turn and ended up at the exit and missed a big section! A very good addition though and a feature we havent seen at any other zoo! We would visit again, and recommend to others.
Some parts are fantastic, some are blandIt’s clean, well laid out, very kid friendlyDinosaur park is an absolute highlightThe park is fine, but be prepared with walk a lot and probably not see all that much. If it’s a cold day, there is a lot of walking between places with no shelter. Not many bathrooms, the food concessions are small so expect to queue a lot and for a long timeIt’s expensive for what you get. £88 for a party of 4 isn’t that bad compared to other parks, except there really is a lot of white space between areas and not much going on to keep kids occupied as you walk between places.I’ll wait a couple of years to see how it develops before going again
Did the red panda experience. Fantastic - money well spent. Ranger really helpful, answered all our questions and got close up with two pandas. Rest of park great set up for the animals - you may not see everything but the environment is great for them.
Im giving this review a 4 star because we went on a weekday in July yet none of the snack bars and ice cream huts were open. Only 1 cafe in the whole park open which was disappointing when you have 3 kids with you. Also one of the Monkey enclosures was closed for maintenance and none of this was advertised prior to going in.On the plus side this is a fantastic zoo with plenty of different animals. Everything looked new and everywhere was clean and tidy with staff visible keeping on top of this. The animals look well looked after and the staff who talk to you appear to genuinely care about the animals. The layout is great with clear walking routes around so you dont miss anything. There are a few play areas for kids to help parents unwind a bit and kids have more fun. Also the new dinosaur area is a fun way to end the day.Im sure if you went during the school holidays or weekend everything would be open and this would deserve a 5 star but I just felt the experience should be the same no matter when you go and as a family of 5 convenience to things is a must.
One of the best wildlife parks in the UK by far!Everything is clean and tidy. Lots of staff around, very organised when guiding cars to parking spaces.Lots of options for food, plenty of picnic tables. Toilets are clean and they dont smell! Also plenty of loo roll!Great for children with different sizes of play areas and climbing frames.Walking around we saw everything, we never felt lost or that we had missed any animals, plus... plenty of viewing areas.Animal enclosures are brilliant, so much space for them and well designed. The polar bears are the reason to go for sure!Lots of space for them to expand too (elephants please! 😁)Will definitely be returning!
Spent the day there yesterday. My daughter and myself went for the carnivore experience for my 50th. Loved every part of it. More so, feeding the tigers!! 🐅 🥰 Our guide? Lovely and friendly and very informative. Thank you for an awesome day and experience!!! We will be back...
We had a fantastic day out here. It is a large place and I soon realised my little girl would find the walk tiring so I was delighted we could hire strollers. Hired a double one for her and her friend and they loved it, it made the day so much easier for them. I loved how there were play areas spread out around the park so the children could play in between seeing the animals. There were loads of picnic areas and cafes too. The enclosures the animals were in looked spacious and the animals happy and cared for. Lots of parking and disabled parking at the front too.
The animals here have probably the best facilities Ive seen. However after being here 4 hours we actually hardly saw any animals lol. They were either hiding or asleep. Cant be helped I know 😂. The dinosaur thing at the entrance is absolutely amazing and I would definitely recommend it. Few negatives...not many benches or toilet facilities ( although the facilities we did find were excellentthey also need to think about a disabled entrance as the queues were Huge and I saw quite a few people struggling as its a really long way to get in. Overall a lovely place. Everywhere is immaculate and animals clearly well looked after.
Was nice, but why open the Dino area when no plants are planet? Theres a person weeding the front but tonnes of half dead plants in pots waiting to be planted.Place is massive, huge! But not so much to see and your legs will quickly get tired.Animals however, look like they get well cared for, so 10/10 there. Everything looks maintained and cared for.
Amazing wildlife park, well laid out and spacious. Has been extended in recent years and there is a dinosaur section underway also. Pleased with all the animals I saw 😀Good selection of cafes, kiosks and eatery to break up the day.We went early in the morning to avoid all the crowds. This meant going back to some of the enclosures as some of the animals hadnt woken up yet 😅
Its the first time weve been since the park has been extended and the new entrance has been put in and also the arrival of some new animals. Weve been going for many years and saw the leopard for the first time today! Its a fantastic day out for any age group. There are plenty of cafes offering snacks and meals (including vegan optionsand plenty of picnic tables for those bringing their own food.
First time visiting, we were very impressed. The park was clean and well laid out. The animal enclosures were a lot bigger than other zoos we have been to as a result the animals seemed a lot happier and more playful. We ate at the safari cafe the price is what you expect to pay but the food was lovely. Be prepared for a lot of walking due to the size of the site. We will definitely be returning.
We absolutely love YWLP. So much to do, its not just a Zoo. We have been all different months and always see the animals and you can get very close to most of them. Plenty of space, even when busy it never feels it. Well spread out and plenty of amenities. The food at the snack shacks are tasty 😊 The price is also excellent. We have done the Evolution restaurant once and it was pretty basic, but great atmosphere for the kids with the dinosaur.
What a fantastic experience I had here! Booked tickets for my family and found the site to be easy to navigate. Arrived on the day, fantastic parking with a short walk to the entrance, great by friendly and helpful staff that supplied me with a map of the park, you can rent child buggies and also mobility scooters. So many animals to see and plenty of food places to grab something to eat, prices are on the high side but this is to be expected, however good seating areas so maybe a good idea to take some lunch to save abit of money, really good gift shops at the end to finish off your day. Lovely experience and will happily go back another day. A note this is big park and set over a large area so be ready to walk a good amount of steps :)
We had a great time with our 3 and 1 year old. Lots of great animals to see. All well sign posted and staff hekpfull. The only downside was the queues at the ice cream kiosk and burger place were long considering the place didnt seem that busy but the food was great quality when we got it.
When you are visiting the park with a school group, the staff was definitely nice and supportive in accommodating us all. We saw polar bears, red panda, lions, lioness, tigers, camels, giraffe, monkeys, gelada(a rare specieand there was a nice park for kids to play on the swings or build sandcastles. The walk, however, was very long to see all the animals and the weather, freezing while we were doing a tour. I wish there were more Guides, to tell us better about different animals/species or a safari to carry us long distances!!
Lovely place for a day out. They have invested so much money in the site. I was able to take advantage of Blue light discount too which was a bonus.Plenty to see and do with lots of parks for the children to burn off energy. As well as fantastic ranger talks and and information shows such as big bugs! Certainly worth a trip
Loved the zoo, fantastic enclosures, great viewing platforms, loads to see. It was a gorgeous, warm spring day so all the animals were outside. Might not be the same on a cold wet day. There are loads of picnic places, many under cover. The park is very long and thin, so a lot of walking.Wasnt very impressed with the food provision.
Took our one and three year old and they absolutely loved it. It looks like they are doing a lot of work to the place and the animals look well looked after. We could have stayed to watch the giraffes all day. We booked a 10.30 arrival slot and left at 4.30 but we could have easily stayed until closing. The indoor Monkey play barn was really quiet which was fab as not sure who had more fun, me and the husband or the kids.
What a nice place, with lots of animals which are really nicely looked after. The place is continuously evolving, worse visiting more than once a year but also bring your family, kids, loved ones. Also has a huge car park which you don’t have to pay for.
Very good park, with some huge investment taking place judging by the building development. We took our two 3&5yr old grandchildren for the day, and given their young needs it was great to see regular toilet and refreshment facilities staged around the large site.A little disappointed with animals hiding, due to cold weather no doubt, but fully understand this. What we did see was great for the little ones. Will def revisit with the membership I purchased.
Took the family to see the Christmas Illuminations was an amazing experience! Kids loved it, so did the adults.Affordable ££Great value for money, great day out for the family! Suitable for all ages! Not very wheelchair friendly for most of the place!
Great selection of animals good open space, we also went to see the lights in the evening. Which were good but very spread out. Not many drinks and snack kiosks open during the day, but in the evening more opened. Was very busy in the evening.
