Yong He Soy Milk King 永和豆漿大王 - Breakfast restaurant in Taipei, Taiwan
The food here is great, and its a great morning breakfast, and also a great brunch food. If you want to try some traditional taiwanese breakfast or brunch, this is a must try.
My perfect go-to place for traditional comfort food! Not too greasy and it just tastes perfect when it’s hot 😋
Thinks changed a bit after 2022 inflation. I found the soy milk to be a bit watered down. Cant really blame them since commodity prices climbing faster than what they are able to charge. Overall is still very affordable and delicious. Still do not like how they use plastic bags for takeout orders. Heat + plastic = bad.
Really love the salty soy with eggs. The price is affordable. I also love the soy milk! very deliciousss.
Incredibly tasty Taiwanese breakfast style food- you can get stuff similar to 煎饼果子 from mainland china, without the lettuce. They’re best item I had was an egg wrap with fried dough 油条. Prices are good too. My only issue though is that the food is incredibly oil, and i didn’t feel 100% after the meal. So be sure to have this food sparingly and don’t overeat.
A Taiwanese classic, but I thought it was just okay. Both the pork floss egg pancake and sweet soy milk were quite bland. Perhaps it had to do with the fact we went at 3AM? Not sure if it’s better in the daytime. Overall, I was underwhelmed.
I love the sesame flat bread, deep-fried Chinese donut with the hot soy milk😋
Breakfast store specialize on 燒餅. the skin is dry with multilayers of dough. Bake to perfection. The sesame is bake in to top layer. Egg is not greasy, make it a perfect 蛋餅。soy bean milk is pretty thick.
Quick service and great quality breakfast food. I recommend fresh soy milk with shaobing 燒餅. Fresh off the grill, it’s flakey, crispy, and aromatic. As with all bread, there’s a special experience you can feel only when eating it immediately. The savory soy milk is tasty, but hot! I would split it with a friend and get more items.Their xiaolongbao are the meatiest I’ve found. It’s good to fulfill a craving, but not a specialty.4 - Happy to come here regularly
Yong He Soy Milk King is one of few places in Taipei serving traditional Taiwanese breakfast. It does not open only for breakie, it actually opens 24 hours a day, 6.5 days a week closing only for 12 hours after Sunday midday. The place and its ordering system was slightly overwhelmed for us as tourists visiting for the first time. But we figured it out afterall. Worth noting that they dont really speak English. This was our first go at Taiwanese famous Salty Soy Milk, a bit weird to our liking but we enjoyed the Sweet Soy Milk, Xiao Long Bao, Egg Pancake and Fried Chinese Donut. Prices are very reasonable, and they have English menu. Recommended.
This is one of the very few places that sell 鹹豆漿(salty soy milk). They serve all the usual suspects but I come here for the 鹹豆漿. Great place for traditional Taiwanese breakfast items at a very reasonable price.
This place is ok, the taste is fine, it has the best opening hours and the staff is fast in freshly preparing your order. Yet I find the taste is simply not as good as in sooo many other places, for example there is another- in my opinion much tastier- place just two minutes down the road. So, considering the abundance of better options, there is simply no reason to go here, unless you crave it in the middle of the night...
Tourist here. Its been about 10 years since I had been back. Yelp was just gaining steam and you had to rely on locals for recommendations. Well I can say that 10yrs later the food was just as good as I remembered it and happy to see theyre busier than ever. Still on the corner with a dingy eating area and not enough seating. But honestly who cares. The food is the main attraction here and as someone who wont wait 10 minutes for almost any restaurant, Id buy the food to go and pop a squat on the side walk. My go breakfast here is the you tiao (long fried dough sometimes called a Chinese donut), hot dou jiang with sugar (soy bean milkand suan cai fan tuan (a rice roll). Gotta dip the you tiao into the soy milk tho! Theres a section for To Go orders and a section for dine in. If youre there on a week day morning and see a long line chances are its the to go line. Walk inside and check the other line and eat while you watch people grab breakfast for their commutes. A must visit for me when Im in Taipei.
The queue is bearable, not that long. There is a queue for take away & eat in. Make sure you are in the correct line. The breakfast is comfort eating & cheap. The soya milk was good & went well with dough fritter. Love the turnip cake as well.
Must go shaobing youtiao place in Taipei. The food here tastes even better than the famous fuhang breakfast shop. Expect long line during weekend morning time, but the service is quick and professional.
For 1 person I advised to get the soy milk(sweet), the egg pancake with fritter. You can order an extra fritter if you are very hungry. Delicious, also easy to order, just ask for a menu and you can check what you want
Ive been meaning to try this place for ages but it always has a line out the door in the mornings. I went past today at 3pm and voilà no wait! Very friendly staff understood the dumb look on my face and brought me a english menu with pictures. Food was prepped and I picked it up and paid for it at the pickup area and took it back to my table.
Light meal for afternnon at 3-4 pm was something we expect when we came here. But I was shocked after food is served. So impressive! Not only the portion of dish but also delicious taste and cheap price. We ordered 7 dished for only 185 NT.My truly reccomemended dish is Salty Soybean milk. ❤️ It’s unique and yum!
I’d say it’s overrated. Food was decent with a good price but not as amazing as most reviews described. The dining environment inside was just messy and dirty. Staff was always yelling and some people simply ignored the queue while I was waiting to give my menu to the staff. Not worth a visit but is a good place to stop by if you were hungry and happen to be around.
Came here at night and no queue. Love it. Food is really fresh and portions are good too. Cheap as well. Come here during non peak hour and there youll pretty much have the place to yourself. Quality of the food is also still as fresh ever.
Skip Fu Hang and go to this place instead peeps! The line wasn’t as bad as FH and the food tastes better (my personal preferencem). Their savory bean curd soup and steamed dumplings are flavorful and definitely great choice for a rainy morning.
Food is very tasty, friendly people and cozy seatings! 小籠包 was superb coming out of steam. I had eggs with leeks and right amount of everything.4 stars only because their soy milk drinks are good enough but not fantastic.
The sweet soy milk isnt sweet enough for me.Most things here are super carb loaded. The tables are small and hard to find because this place is very popular.
This is my favorite authentic Taiwanese breakfast! This location is like the original with way shorter lines, and the same fast service with delish food!Theyre known for their soymilk (hence being the soymilk kingbut dont forget the other dishes. Theyre all fantastic.I literally dreamt of this many times since my last visit to Taipei and this meal was far more satisfying than some of the Michelin restaurants Ive had nearby. For your first visit, get one of everything - you wont regret it.Must haves:- Egg wrapped ANYTHING- Salty soymilk with egg - add a bit of chili oil if you like spice- Rice wrapped with egg and donut- Pan fried sesame bread wrapped egg and donut- What did I miss? Get that too..F it, go with a group and literally get one of everything. It’s super cheap like $4-5 USD per person to go nuts.Get a cold, sweet soymilk to go for dessert! You wont be disappointed.
Better than fuhang in my opinion. ORDER THE 飯糰和蛋餅 (aka Rice roll wrapped in egg pancake). wow the rice roll was a heavenly medley of sticky glutinous rice, youtiao (dough fritters), pork floss, salted preserved veg.... wow.... its a huge portion so do share with others.... 鹹豆漿(savory soy milkwas good too, better than fuhang hehehe
The very best place to have authentic breakfast! The restaurant is easy reachable from Da-an Station and has seating inside and outside. Ordering seems tricky, but you have to go in, get an English menu and a piece of paper and then note what you want. Stand in line, give the paper, you’ll get the food and pay.We went there many times and tried all of the food. If you’re new to this, start with the sweet soymilk. Get a bread stick. And enjoy!
Filling breakfast, even with a long line it was easy to get a seat. The soy milk was light and tasty, the egg pancake was filling. Overall a tasty and healty traditional taiwanese breakfast. We took a cab to get here but it could also be accessed via Daan MRT.
This is definitely a popular spot for breakfast. You will have to hunt down for seats but luckily we found a table for 2 quickly.Their menu is in both English and Chinese along with photos which is extremely helpful for us. We ordered the egg, fried bread stick wrapped in roasted cake, radish cake, pork bun and a cold soy milk drink. The egg, bread stick in roasted cake was so delicious that we ordered seconds and same goes to the radish cake. The cold soy milk was very refreshing but sadly both my boyfriend and I were having allergic reactions (we knew we are allergic to soy milk, clearly we risking our lives out here to try everything hahaso we weren’t able to finish but it was super good.I would definitely come back if I’m in the area again!
My favorite breakfast place in Taipei. Their shaobing is perfectly flaky. Their scallion egg is salty and perfect on turnip/radish cake or even the sticky rice roll. I always get the shaobing with the scallion egg.
Came to try the heavily recommended Taiwan style breakfast. We ordered the salty soy milk and fried bread. Having tried breakfast offerings from many countries across the world, the Taiwanese variety is at best average in comparison.
One of my favorite place to have breakfastThe bake sesame bun (燒餅with Chinese deep fried donut (油條)Their layer thin and crispy. And Chinese donut is not too salty. Best to eat with plain soy milk (Not too sweetor try salted soy milk
One of the best Yong He Soy Milk branches Ive tried in taipei, or even Taiwan. The plain soy milk is thick and smooth. 烧饼 was done perfectly crispy and not oily at all. 油条(Dough Fritterswas also crispy though its quite oily. Radish cake has a hinge of radish taste with some small bits of meat. Must definitely eat the radish with their sweet sauce and chilli paste provided on the table!Even though the food is good, the wait is not long with sufficient seats to dine in.
Yong he soy milk is an institution in Taipei and still remains one of the best places for a Taiwanese breakfast. There are various branches all over Taipei but this one in the Da An district is one of the better ones. Like all branches do expect a long line but it will move really quickly. If you are in Taipei for the first time, eating the Taiwanese breakfast is a must.If you plan on eating at the restaurant than the line starts in the back and the takeaway line is in the front. You can pretty much have a breakfast for two people for about 130 TWD.Food: 4 starsValue: 5 starsOverall: 4.5 starsRecommendations: soy milk, fried doughnut, egg crepe, rice roll
A must try if you are in the area. Taiwanese breakfast is something you have to experience. Menu has English and pictures as well. Staff is super friendly and can help out a little. Try the salty soy milk if you want a savory option. Rice roll is another hit(Taiwanese breakfast burrito 😀)
Perfect salted soy milk I was looking for, great balance on salty & sweet. I like how they were generous on the vegetables (green onion, dried radish & persevered Chinese mustardso every spoon was crunchy.
This is my second time visiting Yong He Soy Milk and they never fails me in terms of the taste! Their soy milk is a must try. The sweet one isnt that sweet, so its okay. Their steamed bun also the fluffiest! Very light and warm. The roasted cake is just so so, please expect it will be crumbly and there are many layers of it. I found one condiments really rise my apetite, something like pickled veggies, its sour and spicy at the same time.
Great place for Taiwanese breakfast. It tasted awesome. In addition, their menu written in English and Japanese was available. That helped me when I made orders.
Loved the shao bing and the you tiao + dou jiang combination! They do their xiao long bao well as well, only to say not a big fan of the salty beancurd but that’s a personal taste preference
Nice place to go for breakfast or late night snack.Staff are all very friendly, service is above average and pricing is good.Food tastes really good, and not too oily There is a good choice selection too.Store itself isnt very big, so I normally prefer to buy take away.
I don’t know why it’s so good. I got the salty soy milk, which is really a salty bean curd soup, plus fried egg and onion, egg pancake, fried bread, and this flaky sweet red bean and dough thing. Food is prepared super quickly. Bus your own table to the back corner when you’re done.$3.50 USD for everything. I’ll be back.
Came here for breakfast at about 9am and it was quite full already but we still manage to find seats. 15 minutes later, the whole shop is filled with customers queuing up. The staff are friendly and patient while we order. The menu is more extensive than other shops and the food is made fresh on the spot. Love the salty soy milk (咸豆浆which I tried for the first time. Cheap and good breakfast.
Other than the fresh soy bean drink, the other hot snacks dont really meet our expectations. Their modern versions of these traditional snacks are catered more to tourists and urban youngsters--more to fast food.
Good food and worth the price. They didnt have an English menu when we came though. We had to point our orders to the cook. Also the place was very small, not more than 8 tables as far as I can remember. If youre not a fan of soy, you might not enjoy this place that much cause thats basically a major ingredient in almost all their dishes and drinks.
Still the best traditional breakfast in Taipei in my opinion. The service is fast so almost always youll find seat without needing to wait. The place is clean and you can see the open kitchen where the cooks are preparing your food. So other than taste good food you also get to see what "traditional" cooking is like. You must try 燒餅油條夾蛋 (Chinese head with fried stick and egg pancake), 鹹豆漿 (salty soy milk, its seasoned with couple of traditional stuff like Chinese pickles, fried stick, shredded dried meat, etc), and 鹹甜飯糰 (sweet and savoury rice rolls). I wouldnt really recommend the 小籠包 (small steamed meat buns). Highly recommended!
Typical Taiwanese breakfast selection freshly made. Yong He is found all over Taipei and this is one of the many ones available. I like that they made the dough and prepare the food in an open kitchen so you see your breakfast being made in front of you
A great place to sit down for traditional Taiwanese breakfast. The soy milk is delicious and so is the flaky danping filled with omelette. It is a busy place that is notorious for its long lines during the week days, but you can go on sunday morning. Have to say its a very bustling space where your feel kind of forced to eat fast. Youre not, its the atmosphere and the long line. Dont let that keep you though.
Went on a weekday at around 11am. Plenty of seating area. Find a seat and order indoors. Order outdoor if youre dining out.You tiao (dough frittershad strong oil taste but its crispy. Egg pie with pork floss is tasty and yummy! Roasted pie with egg pie is good too! If youre feeling adventurous, go for the salted soy milk. If you want to be safe, just go with normal soy milk.
In A Nutshell:-Yong He Soy Milk King was a great discovery in Taipei.-The location is semi-street food style since you can walk right up from the sidewalk.-Its also very close to the MRT station (Daan Red Line).-Youll feel like a kid in a candy store w/ all the offerings...-The Egg & Manju is scrambled egg snuggly held between soft-as-a-babies butt buns.-The Chinese Rice Ball is a tasty morsel wrapped with rice (duh).-The Egg & Green Onion Omelet is good, but add some soy sauce and some spice to kick it up a notch.-The Siu Long Pau (Juicy All Meat Manjuis steamy, meaty YUM.-I love how you can watch the staff prep the Salty Soybean Soup, which is one of the popular dishes.Overall, this place makes all of its ingredients right there. Fresh as fresh can be! Go eat here and feel like a kid again ;)
You cant deny this is one of the top Yong He Soy Milk King in Taipei.Things are fresh in rush hours, hot and crispy. The looks of this place may not attract you, but the food will.
an old place we used to visit and even my 97-year-old grandma loves their 燒餅夾蛋aka燒蛋😊 this time round we went during chinese new year home trip, the soymilk is not as good as before(too thin), and the oil/flour they used for 蛋餅 tasted/smelled weird.. i will recommend 鹹豆漿➕燒蛋/飯蛋(飯糰加蛋)😊
