Local brewery offering housemade beer in a laid-back, industrial-style tasting room with a patio.
I had a disappointing interaction with one of the Yellow Dog employees the other day. I complied with his request to move my car out of their lot, when I walked back to the brewery I saw that someone had parked illegally, inconsiderately & at such an angle that they were blocking all manner of cars in the lot, when I asked the same Yellow Dog representative, "What about this person?" his reply was "I didnt see him, otherwise I would have yelled at him too". Seriously? Thats the best response you can muster? Youve got a make, model & colour of a vehicle, not to mention a license plate, Im fairly certain anyone with a modicum of common sense, initiative & effort could have easily walked into Yellow Dog & quickly determined who the driver was. Hypocrisy at its finest! I had to give 1 star to post this review, but its definitely a Zero for lack of respect. lack of consistency & lack of effort. Needless to say I will never go back.
One of the best breweries! High five is my to go beer
This yellow dog is located just a walking distance from the Port Moody train station. There are quite a few breweries here but if you’re looking for the familiar yellow dog around this area, we’ve got one here. The interior has a dim aesthetic but if you’re looking for something’s little more bright and beautiful, there is an outdoor patio at the back. I will say though that since we are at the back, you will be distracted by the incoming trains that come by. Other than that, there is some shade in the corner by the blueberry bush.
Amazing place to have fine beers. I loved the patio specifically when train passes. Also you can have really good pizza from truck who parked outside. I had tried 12 beers and all of them were good but not special or I can call signature. I give them 4 ⭐️.
Great experience at Yellow Dog today! Staff were very kind and the Golden Ale was delicious. My friends and I had a wonderful time in the backyard area!
Has to be the best brewery on the row , golden ale is a cracker , only shame is no pups at the time ( Just happy didnt have murph with mebut still a great haunt beer garden is awesome in the sunny days
We always have a great time here. The atmosphere is so nice, inside and out. The garden has a really great vibe - I love when the train comes by. Always find a nice beer to drink, but I do wish they had some amber ales/honey lagers on tap!
A pity I cannot give this place 0 starsAbsolutely disgraceful behaviour from a blond female staff member.I had just arrived and before I even ordered a drink she screamed in my face alongside others “ I TOLD YOU ALL TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY AND I WILL NOT SAY IT AGAIN”. Not sure exactly who she thought she spoke to before but it was not our group. Regardless, this is no way to speak to a customer. Zero excuses she was nastyAbsolutely disgusting behaviour. There is no shortage of jobs in BC so if you hate your job that much, go find another one.If I was the owner I would be mortified. There are at there 17 people I know of from Friday that would never return here. Take your business elsewhere
Nice place with a beautiful patio. Beer isnt that great though
Nice and chill back yard and good selection of beer. The only thing I wasnt happy about is that they sold me a pack of 4 sour beers for 28$ and I just saw the same thing being sold at BC liquor store for 18$!!!
Nice place” FOOD TRUCKS CLOSE” Beer Good” Little Loud” Although Great hangout for younger people.”
Beer was good 5/5. Music was so loud, I saw multiple people leaving because of how loud it was 1/5. We asked the staff and they say they can’t lower it because it is an event.
Popular spot, friendly people, choice of beers, lots of covered & outdoor seating - more than most others in the vicinity. Many Food trucks close by & they ate happy to hear you being your meal in. Good vibes!
Yellow dog is my favorite Brewery and so glad I live 5 minutes away from them!" You will be surprised to know that their dog friendly! Who knew?
Friends and I stopped by during our bike ride. Enjoyed some pints, friendly staff and the beers were enjoyable. I would recommend this place my family and friends!
Branding on point!Love that you sell collars with a bottle opener!!And of course that you are pet friendly. Outdoor area is very, very nice!
Great local brewery with a nice selection of beers brewed on tap. They also carry other alcoholic beverages like cider and selzer for those who prefer another option. Always lots of food trucks around and food is allowed inside. They have upgraded their patio outback and it looks great. We come here with friends and kids to hang out, great option for families.
We ordered a flight and highlights were the Shake a Paw on nitro and Play Dead. A couple things struck us as odd. Firstly, dogs arent permitted on the patio or in the taproom. Its a dog themed brewery and you cant bring your furry best friend along for a beer??!! Setup a front patio or challenge the city to change the laws/restrictions on allowing dogs to enter the taproom. Second, when I asked who the yellow dog is and what the story behind the name was, the explanation from staff was "it was the owners dog or something". Would be nice to see the brand carried through all levels of the taproom experience. Service was cheerful and we would go back. Excited to take the dog toy we purchased home to our pup.
Nice chill atmosphere. They also had a food truck outside which your allowed to take in food from. A good selection of beers.
Yellow Dog supplied a keg for a recent corporate event with a non-functional tap. On top of that, the tap was clearly unsanitized and was grimy from previous use.Avoid for your corporate event needs.
Mackenzie and Kiera were outstanding today. Some of the best service I’ve ever seen at a brewery in my life! Will definitely be back. They were on top of their game the whole night and it was a great time! Great experience!
We ordered a keg of High 5 Hazy IPA for a work event. The event was only 2 hours so it was very disappointing to discover they gave us a broken tap. After 10-15 minutes of trying to get the tap working we gave Yellow Dog a call. The employee who picked up the phone let us know that they did have a broken tap and we must have gotten that one.I asked if they could deliver an unbroken tap and was told that is absolutely not an option. They suggested I go pick a new one up from them which meant I would miss half the event and no beer would be served for half the event.Fortunately, I was able to borrow a tap from Dageraad who not only had a robust, operational metal tap for us but they also sanitized it on the spot. Much nicer than the crusty, unsanitized, broken plastic tap Yellow Dog supplied.Overall I was very disappointed in the customer service from Yellow Dog and I would not trust them to supply beer for another event.
Cool place! Very unassuming entrance, opens up to seating area.Lots of taps - most are active with mostly their own brew -- including cider and (nowselzer - but no lagers.4/12/20 oz in house; 32/64oz To Go.Selection of food trucks outside as well as snacks inside.I had the Shake a Paw smoked porter - dark, smoky - nice!
Visited last night for the first time. Lovely and warm inside and not too busy. Great beer, lots of choice, and friendly service. Ordered from the pizza truck outside, which was delicious, and ate inside.
Great place for beer flights. They focus on beers mostly IPAs. They also had a couple of sours and ales. No table service, you order drinks at the bar. Vaccine card is required and they do last call earlier around 9:30.
Absolutely fantastic beer and super service. Definitely would recommend to come back thumbs up from us!
Saturday afternoon, short wait to get inside. Ordered a couple flights and a couple ciders. Everything was delicious! We also came with my son and the server was super sweet with him, they have some fun flavoured non-alcoholic drinks as well!
Always the best Hazy IPA. (HIGH 5)Wish they had sours, the Special Effects needs to be a core beer! But other than that this definitely wont be my last visit!
This place was a shocker, wasnt expecting to love it the way I did! Had a flight and they were all fantasic beers! And I love the rustic look theyve got going on, feels homey :)
Yellow Dog was the first brewery in Port Moody Ive ever visited, and since then, it grew into a very well-recognized brand. I think they did an outstanding job establishing their presence across the Lower Mainlands liquor stores early in their history, thus, gaining good exposure. But that success is definitely backed up by the very well-crafted brews they offer. Id take their Play Dead IPA and Squirrel Chaser HPA any day. Simply outstanding. They also have very cool collabs with other breweries, so guest taps are something to look out for as well. Great people, great beer, great place.
pretty great beer, I can understand why this is a fan favourite of the area. The Lingonberry Lager is light and could have more berry flavours, but the coconut porter had a wonderful flavour. Only thing is that the patio could benefit from having some indoor heating.
Yellow Dog is always a reliable choice, with great beer, friendly staff, awesome branding, and a spectacular patio in the back! One of my favourite sours of all time is the Jolly Rancher (I hope it comes back soon!).
Went solo on Saturday. All the other breweries were busy with an HR wait. Yellow dog no wait and nice beer flights. Good social distancing
Good beer and good outdoor patio area in the back. Friendly service and thorough covid protocols going on right now. They are doing table service right now but it was fairly quick. One of the better places on brewers row for sure. I’ll definitely be back
I have been a regular for over 2 years. It is one of my favourite spots in Port Moody. Staff is always friendly, beer is delicious, and the community of Yellow Dog and the rest of the breweries is awesome.
Quite large brewery offering lots of room inside which could easily accommodate large groups.Besides the sizable and ever changing selection of great beer, theres also lots of merchandise of thats your thing.Being a dog oriented brewery, theres some dog collars and toys available for purchase too.
Great selection of beer! The venue is spacious with lots of seating space, and the decorations really give out a great vibe. The patio at the back is comfortable for some beers outside on a sunny day. The staff is really attentive and knowledgeable of its beer, which is definitely some of the best in Port Moody. If you are on the main strip, don’t miss out on Yellow Dog!
Beautiful Busy and delicious 😋. Just off Rocky Point in Port Moody the brewery is more like a pub among locals. Can be busy! The selection of beers is fantastic (See photo). On this day they had a pop up cantina a l Mexico serving great - Amazing- ginger food. Probably the best nachos I’ve had cause they were made fresh on the spot.
Great atmosphere. Location is fantastic, close to public transit and there are food trucks on location so you’re covered, no need to drive. Their beer is very good too!
I love dogs and like beer, great place! Had a flight and enjoyed their offerings. I really like that they have some well priced snacks. Hard bite chips, and fresh Cobbs bread! The backyard area was packed full of happy people enjoying the sunny afternoon.
Great beer selection with an even better sour beer rotation, patio out back and park across the street. Must try this place if your heading out to Port Moody. Child friendly. Delicious homemade soda! I find the staff sometimes very rude, like today October 16th at 2pm – very rude lady behind pouring beer/ supposedly serving us.
Great spot for a beer, with both sunny outside and cool inside seating. Tasty beers, with my favourite being the hazy IPA. The barman had no problem with me bringing my bike in and I even tried his salami. Great.
Not only is the beer great, but also the atmosphere is very cool and man do they have good branding! Yellow Dog has everything going for it at the moment and I hope they don’t compromise on the quality as they get bigger.
Great space, great location! Super friendly staff. Great beer selection learning more towards standard lineup. Live music Wednesdays and a nice little outdoor space to drink your delicious fresh beer!
Yellow Dog has an amazing tasting lounge and always bolsters a great line up of beer. They also make some delicious sour beer if youre in to that. Their patio is one of the best when its open in the Spring/Summer time
Yellow Dog Brewery has one of the best atmospheres along the breweries on the street. It’s large and open, and has a rustic fee to it. The beer selection was quite good, and they even had a kettle sour available! Snacks are a little expensive, but are also large. A soft pretzel was $5, but it was quite large.
Amazing place ! Its really huge, and their selection of beers is amazing. Their "Go Get It" sour-gozer beer is fantastic !
Good beer selection, IPA, sours, pale ale, wit, Porter, etc. Renovation makes a lot more space. Bar for solo drinkers and plenty of indoor and outdoor tables for friends.
Great venue but the beer is hit and miss: some stellar offerings but some seem like home-brew. The venue is nice enough (and big enoughthat you may have to deal with a bit of a lineup.
Great place for business meetings or social gatherings as there outdoor seating is unbeatable on nice days. They have great tasting beer. Screw going out for coffee come here and get a creamy pint!
