Traditional & modern sushi, plus Japanese entrees, in a low-key space with traditional decor.
Amazing food. Best quality sashimi I have had in mcallen. Very fresh and tasty. But wait it doesn’t stop there, my wife prefers fried food, so the shrimp bento box is a must have!! Soft succulent savory. Perfect texture, temperature and flavor. Can’t recommend this place enough. Definitely coming back. I would have included pictures in my review but it’s all gone!! Maybe next time I’ll remember to take pictures before I eat.And by the way, the staff is courteous professional and very friendly. Felt right at home the second we walked in.
I didnt like the service...The waitress took forever to wait on my table. The food was average at best. It wasnt worth the 20+ dollars. It seemed very popular but I wont be dining in again.
Honestly I would have given them the best star it could have. But let me explain why if I could give them no stars I would. So Im visiting out of state. My brother had taken me here a couple of times. Great food and our waiter we had was awesome. Dont recall his name but skinny, short curly hair.My brother goes here very often with his family. According to him once or twice a week.So here goes my 3rd visit. But now we take a bigger group. My brother, our mother, my 6month old, my 15, 12, and 8 year old son, my 2 nieces both 14 and 13. So we are all looking forward to this. And of course my 8 and 12 year olds dont like this kind of food. So we got them dairy queen. We made sure no logos were showing. My brother always takes his 4 year old son McDonalds just doesnt show any logos. It had been fine with them for all those visits. And honestly we did not see any signs saying we couldnt. So again we got a very nice waiter. He took our orders. Then comes another waiter a lady. And proceeds to tell us. No outside food. And we need to take it to the car. My brother told her it had never been a problem before as he comes very often. And again she said sorry this a policy they have from the manager. We understood and we left. But everyone was staring and it was embarrassing honestly. My sons were so red. They were facing down. Feeling as if it was their fault we had to leave.I will never go there again. As good as it might be. Sorry but money will go somewhere else when I visit. They decided to loose out on about 200 or more a week plus tips. Knowing how my brother is and how he is a very good generous tipper. He will most likely not be going there. Visit is from today 10/10/22 around 12pm
Wife and I had dinner at Yasuke and were fortunate enough to have Barbara as our server. She provided excellent customer service and made our dining experience a special one. The food was great but Barbara was better! We had not received that kind of top notch service at a restaurant in a long time. We highly recommend Yasuke for their consistent high quality food and service. Again, Barbara is truly one of a kind! Go see her today—you won’t be disappointed!
The sushi is amazing! They have a great variety of rolls to choose from. The style of the restaurant creates a unique vibe not found in the valley. The wait times could be a little long but the food is worth it!
Sushi and Spicy Ramen was good. Good service. Only issue was table was sticky. Plates and bowl kept sticking to the table. Will not be returning and would not recommend, due to cleanliness.
Food flavor is amazing. Presentation, not there at all. It’s cheap, using the fake plastic grass on a plate that cost $15+ isn’t very tasteful.Bathroom cleanliness needs attention, little details matter. But overall food is great, service okay, presentation and cleanness needs a little love. Still would recommend Yasuke.
Food is good. Dont know about this type of food to much to say if its fantastic or not. I am just hear warn people if you happen complain to someone about service and it happens to be the owner. Food was taking too long to come out and others were already getting their food already. The first person I saw that worked there al older thin man with some white hair I stopped and notified the appetizer was taking to long. He didnt say anything but what ensued were stair downs at me as he walked by my table. I wasnt worried. But then after we were done eating he came from behind and grabbed my keys as if he was going hand them so I can hurry up and leave. I gave him a look to to back off and he immediately dropped the keys and backed up. I got my keys and left.Soooo. If you have a concern.. be be careful.I have to go again more than likely my wifes family and friends likes the food. Oh well.
Everything is delicious. You can’t go wrong with anything, really. I tried the spicy Ramen and it was amazing. Fried veggies, pork belly slices, fried rice – it was all great!
Went with my fiancé for the first time and I must say the service and hospitality was just perfect! Food was fresh and the drinks were so good for sure worth every penny, will definitely be back and will continue to highly recommend it to anyone who wants to try it out
Not authentic at all..Sashimi was chewy, gyozas falling apart, shrimp tempura tasted like deep fried shrimp. The menu is very busy all over the place. As we walked to the all we noticed some employees outside unwrapping salmon from HEB. That disgusted me even more.We ordered salmon sashimi, pork belly ,gyoza, shrimp tempura. Horrible!!!If your a foodie stay away. We were visiting from Scottsdale az
Yasuke is EASILY my favorite sushi restaurant. The food is always fresh and flavorful and the service is amazing. Perfect for any occasion. 12/10 recommend.
Very nice place. The bento dinner box was more food than expected but very good overall. Great service. A bit long but got a small appetizer for the wait. Will come back
This place has great portions! Ramen soups are huge!Food was yummy and authentic! Service was impeccable. Our waiter knew his stuff!!
I love the food and the service. Got no complaints all positive experience. Maybe for the music which should have been a background and not sometimes overpowering that we cannot understand or hear our table conversation. Food wise it is on of the best here in the valley.
My mom does not eat sushi or ramen, she got the teriyaki beef, and its super good, she gets it a Kumori, but here at this restaurant is way better, kept eating from here plate lol. The sushi was ok and like the desert. The place is a bit dark, could not see the menu, if not would off bought the bento box to try a couple of things in one go. Good service.
Food was excellent and service was great. I will definitely be back.
Honestly the best Sushi in the valley. The ambience and the service is second to none down here. Theres a reason why it was voted as the top eatery in all of McAllen
Service was ok. First time here and thought i wouldnt return because service took way too long during lunch hour. Didnt seem too busy either which was confusing. Food portions were very good and cheese appetizer was so good. $15 Philadelphia roll was also confusing because that roll is usually not the same price as say a Rainbow roll. Overall, food was good but our bus boy seemed way more attentive than our waiter.
Dropped in at noon, rushing out from SPI to catch a movie in Edinburg. Didnt allow enough time to stay and dine in but the bartender took care of us and got our 3 sushi rolls to go in record time. Rolls were absolutely delicious! Best weve had in Texas in the past 15 years. Easily in the top 3 anywhere. Will make the drive again soon to enjoy a leisurely dinner.
Must try! After craving sushi and ramen noodles we decided to give this place a try. The freshness of the food is unmeasured. The combination of flavors on the ramen noodles is one of the best i have ever tried. I highly recommend The Fortune roll, and the ramen noodles with tempura shrimp. Our waiter Fernando was very helpful and attentive after explaining to him it was our first time trying the place. Great atmosphere and staff; overall my husband and I had a great experience and we’ll definitely visit this place again.
Great service! A lovely place for a special occasion. Food was fresh, staff was attentive and the experience was soothing. Will come back again.
Ramen soup overall was good. The waitress was very nice and professional when we found a fly in the soup. She immediately apologized and had the kitchen prepare us another fresh made soup. The service was outstanding. Things sometimes do happen and she handled this situation like a great waitress should have. Kudos to her.
Amazing food! Great customer service! Will definitely eat here again
They have the best sushi. I tried the moody blues roll and it was amazing. Their ramen is also really good. Loved the atmosphere and the service was great as well. Highly recommend!
I simply loooove this place for Ramen and sushi. Theres also a secret dessert menu(?Oooff I get the fried banana with ice cream. 10/10 always. I cant ever go back to another sushi place in the valley cause nothing beats Yasuke 💙The Korean menu is a little overpriced heheBut the service is good too!🥰
I really enjoyed the portion size of the rolls! I also had this mango sake which was probably one of the best tasting fruit sake i’ve ever had! It’s not often that sushi restaurants in the area have a full sushi bar, cocktail bar and indoor and outdoor dining. I like that!
Sushi quality is always the best in the RGV in my opinion.Fresh ingredientsExcelente service , bar options are perfect for our group.
We came for dinner and had a great time. If we can give more stars we would.Barbara S. and a new guy (sorry forgot his namewas our waitress and between her service and the food, we had such a great experience. This was my 2nd time visiting (1st was for a lunch specialand both menus are really good. This time around we had drinks, appetizers, main course and dessert. I regret nothing, other than my calorie intake for that night. But the service was just Superb (did I mentioned that already!?). Thanks to the staff for making sure that your food and ambience are high quality. We will return.
Very good flavors. Its a lot of food so please order with that in mind. Customer service is great and super friendly. Will be returning.
Great food was awesome sushi was awesome tasted the Japanese beers for the first time awesome great place must come
Excellent service👍👍Bento box was recommended when I went with a friend last month. Itll fill you up. I really liked their lemonade mixed with mango water😄Update: Been wanting to try their Korean Chocolate cake, its made fresh, excellent!
5 stars bc I called in my order to bring back to my hotel and when I started to dig in, the flavor for me was what I was hoping to taste. I little more than I usually spend at my favorite Ramen spots in Jax. Florida but it satisfied my Ramen craving. Glad I called ahead to order bc it was a full night. If I had the time, I would have sat outside. I may go back before my flight in a few days.
Such a great place to have a nice meal with family or friends. The atmosphere is very welcoming and comfortable, they have a large variety of food. Not only do they have delicious Japanese cuisine but they also have Korean and Chinese available to your preferences. Such delicious food and provides excellent service!
Finally made it to Yasuke in South Mcallen. I wanted to take my wife to a different place for dinner and since I’m not an avid fan of Zushi rolls or asian cuisine, we decided to give Yasuke a try. Upon entering I Immediately noticed the ambience was so nice, the restaurant was full of guests and there were more in waiting. We were immediately tended to by the staff and the young lady who took care of our table was so helpful and attentive. When they brought the food to our table it was simply amazing. It was fresh, tasted great and we decided that we plan to go back soon, but invite some friends. The owner, Alex was so nice that I made sure to take the time to write this review and I gave it a 5 ⭐️ rating. Keep up the great work Alex.
Positive vibes, fresh seafood, extensive menu, fast speed service and the friendliest employees.Drinks are strong and delicious and the food is always to die for. I dream about the soft shell crab ✨ if I lived in McAllen I would go more often but I do drive all the way from Brownsville every other week or so just to grab some sushi
Love this place, never a disappointment. Good food, friendly efficient staff and freshest sushi in town!
My friends and myself went for a good time out. We had a blast hanging out and just eating some amazing food. Excellent taste, flavor, quality, and efficient waitress. Gabby informed us all on the different plates, and treated us with respect, thank you very much Gabby for that and thank you Yasuke for serving high, upscale food.
I was celebrating my birthday here and my friends and me really enjoyed it! The only thing is that you can’t reserve a table. You can’t even be put on the list until you’re already there. We were with the company of 13 people and all of us needed to stand outside for an 1 hour and 15 minutes although I called in advance and asked if we could be put on the waiting list. They said they couldn’t 🤷🏼♀️The rest was amazing though. Food was fantastic, fish was fresh and they have big portions! The waiter was very professional, we loved every minute of being there. Will definitely come back ♥️
Staff is cool and friendly, food is delicious and some of the dishes have a hint of spice but its not over bearing. Dim lighting makes this place great for a date night
Restaurant needs to take its ramen option out of the menu. Served with nothing but a kid size piece of chasu pork, overcooked noodles, and a bunch of corn fillings. Do not go here if youre looking for even an average ramen dish.
We went there last night with our family and tried their Panko Calamari, Edamame, Gyoza and the Ebi Yasuke as our appetizers. We also ate the Chicken wings with lemon pepper and some with the sweet and sour sauce, they were the best I’d ever tasted any where else. The Ramen Katsu Chicken 3 was also fantastic. I wish we could have tried everything but we will be back again and again. This is now my all time favorite restaurant. The staff at Yasuke was great, very attentive. Our waiters were excellent Tristan really knows his food and made some great recommendations and Cody made great suggestions on our drinks.
The is hands down the most authentic sushi in the area. Their fish is top tier sashimi grade, and every morsel is flavorful and delicious. These guys stay away from the "sweet" flavored sushi that has come from sushi joints originating from Mexico. Their sake is premium and complements the traditional selection across the menu, and they even have favorites like mochi for dessert! This place is worth it and will definitely not let you down.
Yasuke is a hidden Gem in McAllen located on that corner of10th and Wichita tucked away in the back. My friend and I visited for the first time and I really liked it. The place is a small restaurant with a quiet ambience and great food. Our server Barbi did a great job explaining the menu, as well as, off the menu offerings, she was very knowledgeable, and her service was totally on point. For starters we were given a small complementary tray with diced sweet potatoes with mild curry, sesame rice crackers, and sliced cucumber with mild red chile, very authentic. We ordered the Tempura appetizer of shrimp and veggies, it was cooked perfectly light and crispy, and I could tell in clean oil. The spicy Squid appetizer was cooked just right and not rubbery, served with a a mayo based sauce on the side. My Moody Blue roll ( off menuof Salmon, Red Snapper, Tuna, and wrapped with Crab was great, and the dipping sauces were amazing. I forgot to shoot a picture of the Crispy Salmon roll but it was really good. My friend ordered some unagi and fresh tuna sashimi, all done perfectly and very fresh. This place blows other sushi restaurants out of the water in terms of freshness and seafood variety. Plus, the rolls are much larger than other sushi restaurants.I will definitely be back to try more sushi and other Japanese menu items they offer, and I highly recommend you give Yasuke a try.
It was our 1st time here & we loved the atmosphere, nice&quiet hole in the wall. We were promptly seated & attended to by our waitress. House infused water, appetizers & food were delicious! We will be back soon!
It is always a great time here at Yasuke. You may have trouble finding it on your first try but its there, tucked away like the hidden gem that it is. Whether you need a yummy spot for a quick lunch break or a nice dinner experience, they always provide great food, vibes, and service. Although this place has awesome quality & fresh seafood, I often find myself wandering in when I am trying to eat highly plant-based foods. They have quite a few options like edamame, seaweed salad, a bunch of veggies, and you can get creative with the menu. If you do stop by for lunch dont forget to request their complimentary salad. I am not sure what is in it, but it is very tasty. Also, their spicy vegan ramen with shiitake mushrooms is an absolute gold mine. I may go for one later today! Warning: Please note that the ramen portions are giant. I would ask depending on what time of day you stop by what the portion will be like. My mom always always orders the soft shell crab, it is a must try (this one is a fairly smaller portion size but still good for sharing).
I cannot even begin to express how AMAZING this place is the atmosphere, the service, the cleanliness, the Delicious food. We got the Shumai with shrimp and it was delicious totally recommend it, its like dumplings but way way better. The Ramen is by far the best Ramen we have had in the Valley (we have gone on a Ramen journey lately). The Ottoro was a special they had and if you are like me and raw fish, over a bed of rice, is not sushi you would aim for because its out of your comfort zone BELIEVE ME youll love 🖤 it! Of course the sushi the Moody Blue didnt disappoint... loved it! Our waiter has been the best waiter we have ever had in any restaurant ever! Thank you Robert! Check out our other reviews on Google.
This place isnt cheap...but neither is the quality of their food. Everything tastes fresh here...you can really taste the quality of their ingredients. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was just right. Its a cozy little place. The sushi here is simply the best. Ive been to sushi places all over the state and I have yet to find a place that I like better. The Korean BBQ is very good, as well. The Bento box was excellent, too. If you like top quality Japanese/Korean food, then look no further.
The best. My favorite. Its small, quiet and cozy. They have s special day of the week with off menu specialty food items not found at any other sushi house in south Texas ( but Im not telling you what day. Priveledged information requires research soft shell crab, tuna collars, and sashimi are my all day favorites. House saki, soju and tsing Tao to wash it all down.
Yasuke is hands down my favorite restaurant so far in the valley. If youre looking for Japanese or Korean food this is DEFINITELY a place to check out. Every single dish I have tried has been amazing. I am trying to try everything on the menu at least once. The staff are very friendly and helpful and always have their own personal recommendations. I have yet to be dissapointed by their food and Im always ready to come back for more.
