Yar Pyi Restaurant - Vegetarian restaurant in Chauk, Myanmar
Nice and friendly owner, tasty vegan foods with a good price. They also provided free fruit and tamarind sweet as dessert which is so kind and warm. Highly recommend.
Honestly amazing food! We waited a little for it but everything was made fresh and on the spot. The coconut rice was delicious, he explained to us how it was made which was amazing! You can really taste each ingredient and spice in every dish.To all the bad reviews: of course if you are expecting a Michelin star restaurant in Myanmar you will be disappointed by your trip. The owner was extremely nice and attentive, he was even ready for any bad comment we had.I highly recommend !
Very good food, juices, great staff. Amazing place for everyone who craves for delicious myanmar dishes. The owners are extemely friendly, willing to chat with you. Highly recommended!!
Their Coconut rice is exceptional n love how vegetables only meal is prepared.. but a little bit pricey & not a place for non vegetarians..
Not just "friendly to animals" but also friendly to humans... Tasty food in a most pleasant atmosphere. Restaurant is run by very nice local family. We tried other places (e.g. oppositebut ended up eating here 3 times. Worth it!
I have been travelling for 6 month and this is by far the best vegetarian restaurant where I have eaten the food is really delicious. The owner and his family are so nice !! Advice : TRY THE COCO - MANGO LASSY YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT 😋😋😋
We have been here twice due to the delicious food and the wonderful atmosphere in this family-run restaurant. The mango-coconut lassie was the best lassie I ever had. I highly recommend to try the Tomato-Peanut curry and the Golden Pumpkin-Ginger Soup.
I went to Singapore, Bali, and Burma for vacation, and literally, this was the best meal I had. I went to fancy and expensive restaurants, but I had the best experience here. I ate like a king. Although it is vegetarian, the food was very delicious. Owner is very kind and brought his daughter around. The banana spring rolls and the tomato & peanut curry were amazing. But everything was amazing too.
The food and lassis they prepare here are delicious. The family running the place are very friendly and attentive. We’ve tried the coconut rice, vegetables curry and eggplant with tamarind leaves curry (the person serving recommended us to add tofu even if it wasn’t listed as an ingredient, and the result was delicious and without any extra cost). He also recommended to mix mango and coconut for the lassi and it was absolutely amazing (no extra cost). The portions were generous and followed by a complementary fruit plate and tamarind candies. We definitely recommend this restaurant!
THE best Vegan Restaurant, not only in all of Bagan, but all of Myanmar. This food is too amazing to describe. I cannot recommend it enough, in fact Ill give a money back guarantee!
We ate here twice because the food was so good. We especially recommend the banana springrolls, Mango/coconut lassi and tomato peanut and pumpkin curry with the coconut rice! But the best off all is the warmwelcoming of the family how runs this restaurant.
I loved it all. Food is delicious, the service is really nice, and the prices are lower than similar restaurants in the same street. Dont hesitate to head there.
We read all the positive recommendations and saw the number one listing on TripAdvisor. But we have to say that we were very much disappointed. The guacamole and pappados were very Tasty and we were looking forward to our curry and lentil soup. But, when we finally received our order (very late, which was already a little off as curry and soup should be readily prepared), we were so disappointed. The curry was more like cooked potatoes and beans and for the soup the taste was all about garlic and ginger, but without a real taste. Also the hot ginger and lime drink got so hot due to the ginger, we could not enjoy it when it finally cooled off. We did not eat the mains and Left dir the restaurant we went to the night before, just opposite the street, which is absolutely fantastic.
As we arrived, a departing customer advised us to try the tomato and peanut curry. Absolutely right! Add a delicious green papaya salad and a.generous portion of banana spring rolls,.and you have a meal )if not the surroundingsfit for a king.
Mango lassi and ginger lime juice are great. Food (ordered different dishes and sharedis just about mediocre, which we didn‘t expect from the many good reviews. Owner was nice but overattentive, as he stood besides the table almost all the time and requested feedback for literally every bite and tries to teach you how to eat your food properly – quite annoying. So far, 3 stars seem fair. Unfortunately, I have to deduct 1 because we all suffered problems with our stomachs the next day.
Excellent vegetarian food. The hosts are friendly and exude a rare charm.Definately worth a visit.
Good restaurant. Food is tasty and beverages are excellent.
Great service at Yar Pyi. We ordered the avocado salad, peanut tomato curry (somewhat like the satay sauce in Singapore), coconut rice and mango lassi. Everything was fantastic; the total bill was 11,000 kyats. They also served a complimentary fruit salad before we left.
Our best dining experience in Myanmar - the owner was genuinely kind and welcoming. Clean facilities for the region. Food was all veggie and all delicious. We feasted and nothing was subpar, we loved everything we had! The chef (mom!also checked in on us and was very sweet. We will remember this meal for years to come and suggest to anyone coming through Bagan!
The food was amazing. We had papadum and guacamole, tomato and peanut curry and fried noodles with aubergine curry. The owner and his family were really friendly, kind and hospitable -- took the time to chat and explain a little more about the best places to head to in Bagan. He even gave us a really detailed map, which we kept for the duration of our time. A really great place to head to on your first day here :)
This place is fantastic. The Owner served us and he was very kind and attentive. Before the meal, he brought us bug spray in case we needed it. Our group shared the guacamole and papadums, tomato peanut curry, pineapple curry and the fried coconut rice with vegetables. Everything was delicious. Our meal was followed up with a plate of fresh fruit and tamarind candies for dessert.
Some of the best best food & service. The family running this restaurant are extremely friendly & helpful. If you are in the area I strongly recommend that you visit here.
Excellent food! We tried the famous Papadum with Guacamole and one of the many Curries. Can highly recommend! Most probably you will get some fruits at the end of your meal. They served watermelon and bananas.
Good Restaurant for Vegetarian. Fair Price.
Very nice restaurant in Bagan! The owners are so kind and helpful. The food is also really good. We felt very welcome and would definitely recommend!
Great vegetarian food, friendly service at a very affordable price. My favourite food is the dry water cress, its a special veegie in Asia thats super tasty.
Great Eggplant Tofu Curry ! Everything is cooked with charcoal here. It gives a little smoky taste. Very welcoming too 👍
Great restaurant, had the tomato peanut curry, which was great. Friendly family, decent prices. Bought some extra tamarind sweets, for little money. Can only recommend
Hands down the best veg place in Bagan, very fresh food, they buy the veggies everyday. Very homely atmosphere and very sweet people. Highly recommend
Great veggie place! Their eggplant salad was definitely my favourite! Curry and mango lassie were also excellent. All meals were freshly prepared and the owners created a really nice and welcoming atmosphere. We talked a lot with them and learned quite a bit about Myanmar and Bagan. If youre staying there, dont miss this little gem!
This family run restaurant is a hidden gem for sure. I spend 6 months working here and my wife and I enjoy this restaurant the most.Prices are awesome and the food is even better. My favourite is the tomato peanut curry. My wife loves their fresh mango juice and guacamole with papadum.
Excellent taste (we liked it better than The Moon restaurant across the street). The owner family is very nice.. However, we were given a bit too much attention (we were the only guests and the owner stood by our table the entire time). Finally, it is a a pity that the owners copied The Moon restaurant completely (same best of menu even with same color coding, same tamarind sweets after the meal etc.). The place has more potential as the food is truly delicious.
Amazing food, drink with an adorable staff. My favourite was the eggplant tagine and the Coconut drink. We went here twice during our stay in Bagan. Highly recommend it.
Delicious vegetarian and vegan food. The owners are an incredibly nice couple, with one of the owners even insisting on driving me back to my hostel because I was planning to walk back late at night.
Nice family restaurant. Food was very decent and cheap. They offered fruit salad for desert.I wish they offered more dishes with a source of protein like soy, tofu, etc.
Very good food, everything we tasted was delicious, for example the tomato and peanuts curry, the banana spring rolls, etc. The lady who cooks is very gentle.
Must try dishes are the coconut rice and local guacamole with homemade papadums. Hosts are really nice. Only marginal let down is their Curry’s are a little watery but the veg inside is very fresh and the restaurant is very clean.
Super super nice staff, the adorable daughter of the owners helps out as a waitress to learn English :)The food is beyond good and their fruit shakes (no sugarthe best Ive had in Myanmar!
Staff are amazing here. So friendly and helpful, they have very good English and are always smiling. Food is also of very high standard and would thoroughly recommend!
A courteous couple taking the greatest care towards satisfying their customers. With their guacamole preparation the most popular, and a menu card that doubles up as a visitor book as well that contains nothing but sincere words of appreciation from the guests, it is a simple and clean environment for good food prepared the way you ask for, in our case, without onions and garlic.
Delicious food and cocktails. The best coconut soup I’ve eaten in Asia! Family business, lovely people we will come back for sure when next time in Bagan.
Locate in front of Amanda temple...there are stalls of foods..we decide to try thisAnd voila ! !... our tounge dance in smooth guacamole with papadon and special omelette full with freshly chop veggies...If you need ... you can find clean bathroom too... (its a scarcity in this area)The price is worth the taste and smilesThe staff is even try hard to ask our question about prepaid load. And after we pay they gave us local sweet....Nice job!!
The owners are very kind and helpfull, English speaking, delicious food, reasonable prices. All vegetarian. I loved coconut soup, tea leaves salad, papaya salad, mango lassi and many kinds of curries
Don’t know why people recommend this one than the Moon which is same vegetarian restaurant just opposite. The environment is poor and not clean from my view. The food is just ok.
Very bad smell of rotting.Similar smell in the food.Long wait (over 35m for rice and salad)Coconut rice was normal steamed rice with added coconut oil, and was served with onion.Clearly gone down hill, due to the praise written on the walls yet the poor atmosphere and dangerous food.Being served spoiled food is not uncommon in Myanmar, yet I expected more from a restaurant with such great reviews.
Oh my gosh, this little vegetarian place in Bagan has taken me to food heaven. I have been dreaming about an avacado combo with Indian papri chaat for YEARS. I should be upset someone beat me to actually creating and selling it. But how can I be mad when it tastes SO GOOD. Do your tastebuds a favor and go check this place out. Rest of the dishes I tried were also A+
Nice restaurant, very good curry (I ate the tomato and peanutand green papaya salad. The coconut rice - the rice is cooked in coconut water - is a must try. Reasonable prices.
This is a lovely restaurant with very nice owners and staff! The food is delicious!! The homemade Guacamole is heavenly and the tomato & peanut butter curry is unforetable!
Ordered a pumpkin curry and a brinjal tofu curry which were both delicious! The lady who served us could speak English very well and provided us with recommendations when we couldnt decide. They even helped us with parking our e-bike as the street was crowded. The place isnt big but everything was clean and neat. Would definitely recommend this place!
Excellent vegetarian food. We came for lunch and had the tomato peanut curry and the special aubergine - really delicious! 😋It might not look as nice as the newer restaurants nearby, but it makes up for it with the taste and quality.
