Limited Wings and Wheels show in extension (which made it a bit crowdedand scope was a bit disappointing considering the hefty admission ticket prices ($25/person).

Nice little tour, lots of history, staff is very knowledgeable. That being said the building is small and not air conditioned good thing is its open year round so better to go on cooler days.

Took my son for his 15th birthday and we had a great time. There were people that were loaded with knowledge in the museum that actually would talk to us about each plane and answered all of our questions.

We made a two hour trip to drop off family at DTW and saw the signs on the way back and decided to make an impromptu visit. When we walked in we found out they had JUST closed for the day. The staff asked us how far away we are from there and upon telling them, they offered to give us a quick tour so we didn’t completely miss out. The two people we talked with were so knowledgeable about everything in there and didn’t make us feel at all rushed even though they were taking extra time out of their day to show everything to us. There is SO much to see there and everything is so well put together! Had a great time and will most definitely be going back again (this time we’ll make sure it’s when they’re still open 😆)

Great museum! Tours were offered upon entrance. Many beautiful war birds from different eras. Tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Only down side was that none of the flyable aircraft were there or even present. Even if they had been present they wouldnt have been housed in the same facility. However we were told that the museum would be moving to a new home shortly and this situation would be remedied.

Experience aerial defense of American freedom. Thunder Over Michigan is fun, checking out aircraft on the ground, watching aircraft perform low, fast, and LOUD. The best was flying a historic B-25, a key aircraft against Japan and other WWII adversaries. Aim High!

One of my favorite places on the planet. The setting of Willow Runs rich history as a place not only of significance during WW II, but of social significance along with the collection of static aircraft and flyable aircraft that make beautiful noise are the complete aviation and historical package for inspiration for all generations. They are also dedicated to improving their role and vision with programs for all ages. The staff is also always accommodating and informative as well as fully invested in the museums mission.

The Yankee Air Musem is a deceptively small appearing museum building packed with history best not forgotten. Beyond the museum proper they have flying aircraft offering heritage flights and airshows in the summer.

Fly in the plane! It’s worth every penny having an Idea of what it was like to be in WW2. I can only imagine the bravery the men had to keep going back flight after flight. We have an easy life compared to “The Greatest Generation”.

This was a truly exceptional experience. I am so glad we got the opportunity to attend the air show - don’t hesitate if you are thinking of attending. It willl blow you away. The staff and volunteers at the museum are top notch. Knowledge, friendly and super helpful. I love that the museum honors our history of flight and is a piece of that history as well. Bought our son a ride on the B-17 Bomber for his birthday this year, it will be end of June. Can’t wait to see how that goes. Dream come true for him. Thank you Yankee Air Museum.

My son and I flew aboard the museum’s C-47, “Hairless Joe,” at World War II Weekend in Reading, PA. It was a great experience, with friendly staff and a thoroughly enjoyable flight. This was our first ride in a C-47, which was even more special because my grandfather flew R4Ds in the Pacific during WWII. My daughter can’t wait to be old enough to go up, because I promised that I’d take her on the next flight. Highly recommended!

The Yankee Air Museum is a treasure for the Great Lakes region. You will be rewarded by attending the events it offers. One flight in the restored aircraft is the equivalent of reading a hundred books on aviation. The safety of the air operations are second to none. A wonderful way to introduce your kids to the real thing.

Also sponsors airplane flights (even a WWII B-17!and an air show”Thunder over Michigan “ where I viewed both the Blue Angels & Thunderbirds in one perfect day. As a student of military history it’s an incredible experience and I can’t recommend it enough.

Why I haven’t been here before is a mystery.Just outside of Willow Run airport ( Belleville, MIoff a small side road is one of the most fascinating, nostalgic and historically significant museums in the US, in my opinionRivaled of course by the larger Smithsonians etcThe Yankee Air Museum allows you to get incredibly close to some of the greatest war fighting planes from the past 100 years of aviation.Michigan holds a distinct honor in that it played a vital role in the success of World War II.Our automobile factories were converted into plane and ammo and parts factories to help win the war.The brave men and women who both took to the skies or stayed grounded in support are on display here for all to see and interact with. From the now iconic strong women who grew to fame as “ Rosie the Riveter’s”, (stop complaining about you job lolto the brave Tuskegee Air Men ( The Red Tails), you are afforded a glimpse back in history both the good side and the bad.Being able to stand under the immense wing of Viet Nam era Phantom jet while learning about the daring exploits of the pilots, truly stirs the heart. To touch the wingtip of an F4 Flown by the famous Navy Blue Angels or the Air Forces Fabulous Thunderbirds , makes me feel like a kid again. This is very much an interactive museum and one for children to explore. It’s both fantastical and educational and there were volunteers on hand to offer tours or answer any questions.Highly recommend!

It was amazing to have a chance to see a such good variety of military aircraft up close and personal. The collection also included a lot of interesting related items, from a mammoth radial engine, to the once top secret Norden bomb sight. The docents were both friendly and very knowledgeable about the collection. Also, if you havent visited in awhile, be aware that the aircraft on display do change from time to time, both because their collection is now too large to display all at once, and because they are also continuing to restore new aircraft.

Had a great time with the kids ages 8-3. The staff was wonderful, have us fun information on some of the exhibits my kids showed interest in and left us alone when it was clear my kids wanted to explore. These guys were great, even helped my youngest in and out of a cockpit he was way too small for.

For a small museum it was great. Whats even better yet they will be moving into part of old Ford B-24 manufacturing plant, of World War II, in the future. My kids and I loved it. It is the worth stop. They even have free posters, which I gave a donation for. And the volunteers and staff are very friendly. One of the volunteers gave us a personal tour of museum.
