Part of a local chain known for its lengthy sushi menu, inventive specials & local wine list.
Great prices, fresh salmon.. it literally melted in your mouth.
i noticed a cockroach in the floor. It was already dead. the health inspector should take a look
Delicious food and next level service. What a great surprise!
Love the fried rice with extra green onions,,,and California roll
Stopped in for dinner while staying in Avila. Service was outstanding and rolls were delicious! Great sushi house
Very basic especially their bowls. Unagi Don felt steamed not even broiled, literally was a bowl of rice with unagi. Katsu don was same. Katsu and rice, not even green onion garnish. Going to try the teriyaki don, but expect literally chicken teriyaki on white rice and nothing else. For the price I expect at least some scrambled sweet egg to go along with it or some sort of garnish or something. Not just katsu and rice, or unagi and rice. Very basic, very lazy, very boring.
This place was fantastic, It had amazing food and amazing customer service! All the staff there was super kind. I left something at the restaurant and they were kind of enough to look for it. They found it and retrieved it and they cleaned it for me. I really appreciate how kind and amazing these people are! Amazing restaurant!
Yanagis is the best sushi of all times! I love love love the mountain roll. My daughter gets the California roll. The owners are so sweet and soooooooo nice! Everything about this place is amazing! Thank you so much! I would post a picture but I ate it so fast! Lol. Next time I will post with pictures!
We arrived at about 8:30 pm ordered at a window and sat in a heated tent which was quite comfortable. We waited about 10 minutes and the food started arriving and it was delicious. My brother and I love Sushi and this place was the best. We really enjoyed the experience.
Is this place delicious? YES! Is the food fresh and hot? YES! Do they have great customer service? YES!! I have enjoyed all the dishes Ive tried and I have not been disappointed. Very convenient and they have a nice outside eating area. I always support Family owed and Operated businesses.
It tasted fresh, food & service were good. They have a crispy rice option that I hadnt heard of before and it was yummy!
Had a nice dinner of good sushi and sashimi on their patio, which is nice. Service was attentive and quick. We will be back.
Great service and decent portions but tasted a bit fishy. Still good but wish it was fresher tasting.
Used to frequent this place pre covid. My kids would entertain them selves with their huge 🐠 tank. Their tuna tataki is one of my favorites, kids love their salmon tereyaki and the wife any of their hand rolls
We had a great experience at Yanagi Sushi! Price is accessible, the sushi is very well served, rolls are quite big and filled in with fish. Ideal portion of rice in each roll. Sashimi is great, you have to try! At the moment they do outdoors dining, you make your order and enjoy the outdoor sitting, they will call you when is ready!
We have eaten sushi all over the US and the choices we made with the help of the waitress was awful (3 rolls). One roll had salmon meatballs cooked on top and more cooked salmon surrounding the roll. Another roll had obvious marinated salmon in salad dressing. I feel badly posting this but we did spend $50.
Really disappointed about the food here. Dragon roll had more skin than meat. Very little eel to enjoy. And the Alejandro roll tasted like old salsa on a leftover tuna roll with very little flavor. Very disappointed ...
Great service and food. I loved everything we ordered. The tempura was there best Ive had and the rolls were solid. They have a great selection of items and the staff was friendly
Always the freshest sushi in town!
They have gluten free options, just have to ask. The server was very knowledgeable about gluten free options. Sashimi was very fresh and cold
Best sushi Ive had in years. Fresh Sashimi, great spicy garlic edamame and fresh wasabi. Ill be back time and time again.
The food is great, the service is great as well. However its a bit pricey compare to other Sushi places that Ive been to like Yo Sushi, Show Sushi and Kabuki. I mean its not one of those Sushi Fine Dining Restaurants where the Sushi are really really expensive because the supplier that they use are the top ones but I feel that the price at Yanagi is almost similar to those so I find it very unusual for them to charge that much. But all and all good experience. The servers are respectful. Its clean and very quiet ambiance to dine in.
Enter what looks like an authentic looking sushi bar, like one would find in Japan. Be greeted, and seated by a hostess. Order a drink, because for the next 10 minutes youll be looking over 3 menus. One is a 2 sided menu offering lunch specialsOne is a 2 sided menu offering over 20 kinds of rolls. One is the main menu offering pages of sushi, sashimi, more rolls, salads, bento boxes, poke, tempura, Korean grill, miso udon noodles, on & on. How do you decide ? Oh, dont forget about the specials of the day board.Colorful & masterfully made, arranged artfully on crafted unique Japanese plates. I choosed the Rainbow Roll, accompanied with 5 pieces of assorted sushi for $19. Which came with a mixed salad, miso soup, & edamame. What they excelled on variety and quantity. They lack, in the quality fresh diverse flavors of the ocean bounty.
Very consistent food quality and fast service. More than just sushi. Somethi mg for everyone. Great for families.
The food was soooo good we forgot to take opening pictures of the meal. The service was great and although we came late in the evening the food was wonderful. 6 out of 5 stars
My boyfriend and I were referred here by a coworker. We sat at the bar, and service was good. The Tuna belly was amaaazing, but overall everything was good. We went for mostly sashimi and fresh wasabi. Sure it was a little pricey, but it was so good! You really get what you pay for here.
Yummy food and great service. I still prefer the Paso location but this was great while i was in SLO and craving sushi. Their calpoly specials looked good, too! Gave me a bag of ice to take my leftovers back to Paso which was amazing.
Delicious tempura fried green tea ice cream.
This is one of our most stop during our annual trip to SLO. Weve been to many sushi places all over California from San Diego to San Francsico, this place is always on top of our list. The fishes are super fresh and all of the sushi are delicious. We always walk out with a satisfied stomach. I highly recommend this place and will come back every year.
My family decided to stop here for dinner before our long drive back home. It’s a little small and crowded but was still enough to eat comfortably. Food came really fast and everything seemed really fresh! Of course, since they were busy, service was limited but that’s okay.
Customer service was just ok. Had to constantly be asking for items. Food was good. The salmon tasted really fishy to me. Not to my liking. I also had the rolls those were good. We sat next to the fish tank, which was really nice in my opinion.
I like this place, I always get the 3 entree special, teriyaki salmon, teriyaki beef, and the Asian chicken with seaweed salad, and a dragon roll. It is around $20.00 but I like their food, they have good service, cute waitresses, and a good selection of beers. Plus their sushi chefs are friendly and talented with their skills of cutting the sashimi to a proper thickness, and use of the ingredients, and spice, and sauces, try it you will be pleased, and return!!
The Hawaiian Rolls are the best in the county. Fast, good food. Fun to watch the sushi artists create the different rolls when sitting at the bar.
My go to place for sushi or Japanese food in general in SLO. The prices arent bad and the food is always fairly good. Its not as good as Goshi, but its almost never as busy, you dont need to make a reservation, the food is cheaper, and I never have an issue.
First time eating at Yanagi. Service was great, food was delicious and they did a great job accommodating our large party on short notice for a birthday.
Good sushi, plus lots of other dishes. The Bibimbap (rice, meat, veggies in a hot stone bowlis among the best in the area. I come here often for the weekly lunch specials, which are fabulous and fairly priced. Staff is very friendly.
So good!!! We ordered the Golden California Roll.
The menu is large and pretty diverse. Interior decor is pleasant, dont be discouraged by the strip mall location. The tempura was noticeably superior.
This is our third time at this sushi place. Every time I discovered something new. They have great vegetarian and rice free rolls. This time I also tried the Macadrmia deep fried roll. I usually stay away from fried food, but I wanted to give it a try, because it looks like a cross between a burrito and a sushi roll. It was tasty, but a bit too heavy for my liking. I am glad, I tried something new, though. Everybody in our party liked their food. The service is nice.
Really fantastic staff make this a wonderful place to eat. Also the food is so good! This is a solid choice for small and large groups!
This place has great customer service as good as it gets amazing food and variety great deals and nice inside. The staff was amazing they we playing with kids talking to families they really know how to make you feel at home. My favorite place to eat out there.
This clean and pleasant restaurant always provides excellent service and great food. Our last visit was spoiled a bit by 8 very loud and rude young students who obviously didnt know how to behave properly in a restaurant. That was not the restaurants fault and our first problem of this type here.... Nevertheless there are many choices on the menu and everything weve tried so far has been delicious.
Theyre quick and food is pretty good, but the moment we set our chopsticks down they asked us if we could leave as soon as possible because they had another party to seat.....I had made reservations for my party, we were there for less than an hour, and one person wasnt even done eating.
The food was okay but the place was pretty expensive for lunch. The chirashi don was about $20 which was quite steep for what you get. They had other items on the lunch menu which seemed a bit more reasonably priced. The fish quality was okay. If I went again I would probably end up getting something other than the sushi though.
Delicious sushi and relaxed, friendly atmosphere. If youre one to be up late or make last-minute dinner plans, they have a really affordable happy hour in the evenings after 8:30!
Yellowtail was great, Cal Poly roll great, overall everything was fresh & delicious. Seating is a little tight, and tables a little small but that surely wouldnt stop us from coming back again.
Favorite sushi place in town. The Alaska roll is delicious! If you sit at a table youre given edamame to start. If you sit at the bar you get a mini cucumber seaweed salad to start.
Sushi was average quality, and the fried rice was inedible. All of the meat was rubbery and hard, the vegetables did not seem fresh, and the rice tasted like a buttery fried egg at best. Would not return.
Food was good but the service was lacking. No communication between the staff. We sat at the sushi bar like we always do. They completely forgot my husbands order. Once they realized their error, they then tried to give him the wrong sushi roll twice. His meal also came with miso soup and salad that they finally brought once we asked about it. Unfortunately, by the time it finally arrived we were all done eating. Overall, we felt rushed and they never once apologized for the poor service.
I had some sushi and korean dish from kitchen. Delicious! !!!!!! Specially, Chefs name Tommy, hes very friendly and has high skill. Soooo good. Thank you Yanagi :-D
