Yamazato - Japanese restaurant in Taipei, Taiwan
Pure Japanese style place! High quality service and food! Perfect for small group or business meal.
This restaurant is located basement of the hotel. It offers quality selections.
Providing premium and delicious Japanese food menu sets and kindly service.
Quality Japanese cuisine and service. Good venue for special event.
NT2700 omakase, each bite of sashimi and sushi is a unique tasting experience of its own, not to mention the variety of in season fish chef prepares. Like chef mentioned, it’s the balance of taste they want to create, pictures should tell it all! Well worth the money for the occasion!
I went to the restaurant for its autumn sushi special. Very good value. I was sitting in the bar. Chef is Japanese. Food and service were good. Environment is nice too. Chef even came to the elevator to see me off. Overall good experience.
Surprisingly… disappointed. The FOOD is fresh and quality so it was tasty but seems to lack originality. The portions are OK, not really stuffed but the fried rice is generous after the end and can fill one up enough. However the SERVICE was… amateurish, I think the young men were new maybe because they didn’t seem to know the menu or procedures very well. They also messed up our order when I switched seats with my son (a professional waiter should have noticed that as he was still taking ordersso my son ended up eating my expensive wagyu steak and I had his cheaper sirloin. I took notice at the end because my entree came from the same as others in my party who ordered sirloin. Apparently the waiter didn’t pass on the seating change to the chef so… worse, there was not apology or any bother to consolidate but a brief explanation of “miscommunication”. The chef wasn’t friendly either but just kept to his cooking mainly. Then at the end, waiter forgot we had coffee and we waited until we asked foe it ourselves. ENVIRONMENT was nice walking inside restaurant but seating area somewhat plain though clean. However there was an oil accumulation and drip on the top of the cooking fumes and was actually dripping a few drops in front of me. It didn’t but could have landed in my food. None of them realized the oil but I had to tell them. I also don’t understand why they put bibs over us to cover chest and legs area. Never quite seen it except at seafood bucket restaurants; didn’t expect it for a supposed top hibachi restaurant. And then worse is my son didn’t want to wear it but waiter kept insisting (though politelyuntil he conceded to have the bib placed on his lap. Anyways… not the good experience I expected from Okura Hotel. Other restaurants there have higher standards but I felt this one isn’t as top notch. Oh, the fruit plate was plastic and had a dirty fingerprint on it. On the back of the plate there were water and dirty areas in the outer parts. Overall the presentation was a bit plain and dining wares originate. I don’t think it’s worth the price. Take the money and eat at another restaurant in The Okura.
Great service and food presented in beautiful design but the flavor can improve, such as the grilled wagyu dish (dryand the final rice dish (blandfailed to delight.
The food is alright, but the quality is questionable. The main course’s presentation and the fact that the garlic are served cold makes me wonder if this really qualifies the $$$$ category.Overall, ehhhh.
Located on the 5th floor of okura hotel. You wont feel stuffed after the set menu, almost full. I wouldve like a bowl of fried rice to go with the set and itll be just the right amount of fullness. Food was good and service was friendly.
Delicious teppanyaki located inside of Okura Hotel, the restaurant truly following Japanese spiritHighly recommended!! Yamazato
Service is good
Overall a good experience. The main dining room decor seems a bit plain but the private rooms are great. The specialty sections are also very good.
The fine service and food meets the price.
Sushi bar - food was decent but poor service especially considering the price.
Always a pleasant dining experience here along with their professional service! The high end cuisine is fresh and tasty. This time we tried their private room set course and was so full from the delicious meal! I also love coming for their quick business lunch sets
Servers are very professional and friendly, we tried the Japanese cuisine (not at the bar). They serve set menu for dinner. We tried 2000 course and 2600 course, both set are very nice and delicate.
The highest end tempura set is not bad but does not live up to its price point or its location. The chefs are friendly but just don’t quite get the balance between batter (too thickand materials (generally fresh, especially the seafoodquite right while attempts at creativity (frying salmon roe wrapped in seafood or a figsometimes don’t quite work.
People is very friendly but tempura is good but not excellent.
no good
Authentic, high quality Japanese cuisine. Expect seasonal and uncommon sushi (鰶、白子in addition to high quality standards (ウニ、穴子、中トロ,とろ落ち)。Outstanding service, as expected from a five star Japanese hotel. The chef who served us today had twenty years of experience before working for Yamazato. One caveat: expect to pay a premium for the rent/location.
Very high end Japanese restaurant. Taste and service are way above average. Decorations is very Japanese style. Worth to try.. but make sure you wallet can handle the price.
Although the price is high, the quality is worth every penny.
Great Japanese restaurant, great cooking tradition, great atmosphere
Elegance restaurant and a quite, comfortable place
Probably the best restaurant in Taipei. Fresh ingredients and top notch service. A bit expensive but we had a wonderful experience
Perfect & wonderful!
Probably one of the best Japanese restaurants Ive ever eaten at. The ingredients were very fresh and the service was top notch. The restaurant has 3 differet sections. One is teppenyaki, one is sushi bar, and i forget what the third one is. We ended up at the sushi bar and got a set omasake. The sushi chefs and waitresses were very helpful in describing to us what each ingredient is and also telling us how to eat something if it looks like were having trouble. Theyre constantly refilling the sides and drinks as soon as its depleted. They pay very close attention to all the patrons and you can feel they really care. Great experience.
Great Teipanyaki. We had a seafood + beef set. The lobster cooked very well and beef was tender n juice. Also surprised with the fried rice, not too moist and very rice covered egg. Overall very authentic Japanese stylePrice is a little expesnive
Great, delicious and delicate food, the service is great and have very good atmosphere. The price is a bit high but still acceptable.
Good service as expected at a 5 star hotel; Better for business dinning rather than for leisure dinning.
Treated my friends here for a lunch, with all of us getting a kaiseiki set. The service and environment are great but the food is good but not amazing for its price.
Japanese food here is awesome and classic. You can try a traditional kaiseiki one here too.
A rather average meal. The rice does not come out with the favorable rice aroma like normal Japanese rice did. The grilled Miyazaki wagyu is somehow disappointing with too many tendons and too much fat/oil. Obviously it’s not the good part of the wagyu and it’s not juicy at all. The mango in the fruit platte is sweet-less. So many great mangoes in Taiwan but it’s just not one of them.
Its suitable place to have elaborated meal alone.
Cozy n nice Japanese cuisine restaurant.
Very good!
It’s a really average restaurant considering the price. Went with their prefix menu. Their menu is a bit overwhelming and confusing to read.
Very nice food and service was great,
This rating is for the tapanyaki side of the restaurant. The whole restaurant has a very calming traditional Japanese feel, in light colored wood. We ordered the $2K per person set. The salad, though just a small appetizer, was very so so. The grilled fish was fresh and tender, but the sauce was not a good match. The prime beef was okay, 80g per person, was good, but lacked in flavor. The lobster was very disappointing, no sweetness, not good texture. I think it was the type of local lobster. The service did not live up to a 5-star hotel standard, forgot to give us tea and towel, my latte came out with just milk only, they were not very attaintive.
Environment is great. Food and the service is okay, but doesn’t live up to its high price.
Worst "high grade" Japanese restaurant I have ever taste. After the food scandal last year. The expectation is already adjusted to a minimum, but still this restaurant manage to beat this anyways in almost any front. To begin with they dont care about your tea. Empty or not, even if they see it. They just ignore it. Two most expensive hand rolls of the menu come after they are already soft and is uneatable without falling apart. Even 7-11 has better hand rolls in term of freshness. The service in side the restaurant was really bad. If you see I spend my time to write this review rather then to enjoy my meal. You can imagine how low it can go.If there is a bad restaurant in Taipei. This one beats them by the distance between Earth and Mars. In every way. Hands down!!!...and I havent even mentioned the price.P. S. the shrimps tempura taste like bread. If you hate someone and youre sure that person will pay. Lets go to this fantastic place full of high grade surprises!
We just went for the tea at the continental room, but the buffet was impressive. Definitely would come back if I had an opportunity.
Fantastic Japanese restaurant!
You will get surprise at this restaurant. The tempura is particular good.
Best Japanese food in Taiwan
Typical upper class Japanese food environment, which is always great. Very good service, good quality of food. But the taste is a bit light, which is health but less tasty.
Pretty decent...
Yummy Tempura & Teppanyaki (served individually as dining counter style😋😋
Delicious teppanyaki
