It is a very detailed description of the Holocaust, important to visit and reflect how quickly a dictatorship can change or literally take the life of millions! Gardens are very nice to visit too. Easy ride by light rail from Old Town/ Central Station . Recommend allowing half day

Nobody can miss it! There are a lot of real videos, pictures, belongings and statements by survivors. Spare 3 to 4 hours to spend there. The whole experience is just amazing and very touchy. I suggest you leave the childrens memorial to the end. I got there by tram + short walk. Quick, easy and cheap. Entrance to the museum is free but you need to book in advance. Map is 12 nis and I suggest you buy it. If you are blessed like me, you will meet a lovely lady who is a survivor and she will explain the map to you.

You MUST visit this place, if for nothing, at least to pay respect to the lives and history that is the Jewish people! Throughout history many many times people have been trying to exterminate the Jews... AND to this day, they are still here, they are still Gods people! What a wonderful people they are!

There are two things to do for the visitor. Make sure to do both. First the extensive and comprehensive museum of the Holocaust. It is a very sombre experience and pulls no punches in its detail. Try to steer clear of tour groups with pushy leaders. Allow a couple of hours for the galleries. Walk out the back and use your guide to construct a tour of the monuments dotted around the grounds. These complemented the details of the museum and we found very moving. Strangely very few others seemed to be doing this. The railway wagon jutting out of the hillside and the extraordinary monument to the child victims with candles in an otherwise unlit room listening to the names being read out were particularly memorable.

If you were visiting Jerusalem, you must include this and your trip no matter what your background is.Its not just a reminder of how cruel humanity can be, but the hope that existed on the undeniable reminder that we must never let this happen again.

Yad Vashem: Will be one of the Most Historical, Beautiful, Educational, Somber and Sorrowful Places You Could EVER Visit. As if Learning about the Holocaust wasnt enough; This Place puts everything you ever learned about the Holocaust into a WHOLE Different Perspective and I couldnt Stop Crying The whole time. I was enveloped with every photograph, every sound, letter, artifact, diary, projections on the walls, music; even others walking around with hands over their mouths to muffle their cries. This place puts your Mind back into another time in World History, where Millions of innocent Lives were Taken. The Holocaust was Real and anyone whom doubts it...Walk through this place; Youll Not Leave the Same. To See Their Shoes, Suitcases, Jewelry, Clothing, Journals, Letters, Photographs and Many More Items; Just took my Breath Away. MILLIONS of INNOCENT Lives Murdered!

I visited this place with friends, you should prepare yourself very well emotionally and spiritually, its not like any museum, the way it design is really unique and the narrative meanwhile the diversity of the contents, the way they present in the same time the politics aspects.I hope this place will be more open to accepting people from different perspectives and religions. The location of this place is provocative for some people and neighbors, thats what I heard.

Using personal experiences of victims and perpetrators with statistics and numbers, Yad Hashem expresses the inexpressible. It is the largest museum in the world dedicated to remembering the Holocaust and teaching new generations about the most poignant example of humanitys inhumanity. We must know our history to avoid repeating it. We can say "Never Again", but sadly, humankind has not learned the lessons of its past. Yad Veshem and other museums and memorials like it should be required visits for people around the world.

Doesnt matter how many times you have been before, go again. With the vast amount of items in this museum you will definitely discover things you had not noticed before. If you have enough time get a guide through the main exhibition, their knowledge is amazing and no two tours are ever the same.Once you been through the main exhibition be sure to spend some time walking around the grounds, there is a lot of other stuff to see and it is always pretty quiet outside.

Everyone should visit this place. It can be very emotionally taxing though, so be sure to bring water, stay hydrated, and leave your schedule nice and loose. It closes at 5pm, so come early in the day as it takes at least an hour or two just to get through the main hall. I highly recommend seeing the childrens memorial after the hall. Bring good shoes, since you will be standing a lot. There is seating here and there, but definitely a lot of standing and looking. Entrance is free, but the audio guide has a rental fee for the headset. You will have to leave ID as collateral, so dont forget to bring that. The audio guide is very good, and I highly recommend it if you dont have a tour guide. Honestly, its just as good and maybe better than a guide.

A place that anyone in Jerusalem should visit. A museum that really takes you back to the Holocaust period and makes you understand how it was (at least for an outsider like me).I hope things like this never repeat in history, and a good way of avoiding it is by remembering how and when it already happened.

I took a tour with some friends. We were given headphones that connected to our guide. My wife and I decided to leave a little before the tour concluded. We were told by staff that everyone must turn in the headphones together. The staff would not be responsible if headphones went missing. Sorry but that system doesnt work. Its very easy to set up a check in check out system using bar codes or other means. The museum is very powerful. It really takes a couple if days to appreciate it all. Makes you wonder about the future of humanity.

Holocaust memorial from the Jewish victims perspective. Other victim groups were mentioned in passing, but this memorial has a specific focus, rightfully so considering the location. It was a very interesting presentation and use of architectural design to emphasize the story being told. A lot of information to process. And, it was very busy and crowded. We had a tour guide from the facility take our group through and she was able to cover the important points in a bit over 2 hours. Of course that was her emphasized perspective. Very few places to sit down along the way and you walk on concrete, for those whose back or feet are affected by that. You can go through without a guide as there is plenty of reading material, placards and the like, as well as a lot od video footage from the era, that explains most everything. This site could be very distressing to certain people, especially younger children. Some of the images of what the Nazis did are quite horrific, actual photos and movies of their activities including mass graves and actual firing squads over trenches and the bodies falling in after the head shots were taken, you see this in the movies--the Nazis recorded for posteritys sake.An important visit, but a difficult one as well.

If you are in the area you have to go. Give yourself a few hours so you can view and process everything that is here. It is raw emotion and a presentation of the facts without any hand holding or pulling of punches, facts are laid bare for you to see without sterilization or omission.Advise a mature visitor as those younger may be overwhelmed

A must visit museum for every person on the planet. The horrible history our not that distant ancestors experienced must not be forgotten and learned in the near and distant future. The visit takes around two hours and includes lots of exhibits, interview with survivors ands lots of interesting reading materials. The building itself is very impressive and the view in the end is mesmerizing. Note that you must have a green pass to enter.

Extremely impressive place to remind us of the darkest chapter in German history. We as Germans are taught about Holocaust quite much at school, but visiting Yad Vashem many of the presented historical facts were new to us and gave us a new perspective. And also the architectonic arrangement of the main exhibition hall is remarkably impressive: The closer you get to the end the more horrible are the presented events. The construction doesnt allow you to walk directly to the end of the main hall, which is great because this way the visitor has to undergo the whole history and cant just pass it without taking notice. Visiting this place is a must, especially for Germans!

This place is imbued with the memory of what this place is dedicated to, and it’s not just here and there objects scattered around, as it is often in different museums and exhibitions... This place shows various installations, photographs, objects in the way that sometimes it is possible just to stand for a long time beside each such installation, fascinated and breathless, as if you feel all that then and there was happening, to which the installation is dedicated. This place among museums, as "Schindlers List" among the films.

I’ve been here a few times. This time I’m here as part of a Holocaust education seminar and I did a guided tour. The raw emotion and feeling is incredibly special. The narrative and it’s connection between the past and present leaves a lot to ponder on.There is nothing quite like walking through Yad Vashem. Give yourself some time. You’re going to want to process and learn. There are many more elements of the Yad Vashem complex as well. Take some time to look people up in their sophisticated computer system. Stroll through the grounds and take in the monuments and plaques for over 20,000 righteous among the nations, people who risked their lives to save Jews during the Shoah. This is and will continue to be one of the most important experiences on your israel visit.

Incredible museum! If youre in the region its a must! Allow for 1/2 a day to wallow through the whole park. The main building (which is architecturally stunning btwguides you through the Holocaust, describing the main events but also the daily struggle of individual people, while zigzagging through the building. At the end of the main building awaits an incredible view over the forest. An absolute must see!

Yad Vashem is a museum which is a memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. It has been created to preserve the memory of those who passed. The memorial has an educational section and displays using a photographs, films, documents, letters, art, and artefacts found in the camps and ghettos and given by survivors. It teaches about the atrocities which occurred by teaching about German policy, the war, response by international powers. There are artefacts from all over Europeand from survivors as well. Numerous memorials have been set up there with an aim remember each individual one by one. The architecture and layout of this museum is incredible and it has done an excellent job in memorialising the victims. Keep in mind this is not a place for everyone as it can be quite emotional. Entry is free, but it closes at 2pm Friday and is closed Saturdays.

A highly emotional experience. The exhibition is finely thought-out and presented, fully encapsulating the reasons, results and outcome of the Holocaust. The complex also includes several memorials set around the park. Admittance is free, so there is no reason that precludes the curious visitor of visiting the museum. A must-visit when you’re in Jerusalem.

A very large museum filled with PLENTY of history. This is an all day trip to really take everything in. I was on a three hour guided tour and we still had to skip parts, skim others, and just miss bits and pieces. The layout is brilliantly designed to make one feel claustrophobic and to lead from one place to the next in chronological order, with blockades in the middle of the isle to force you further in. There is real cobblestone as well!

A place of remembrance that is absolutely worth a visit if you are in Jerusalem or Tel-Aviv.The site is a masterpiece of architecture and the exhibition inside traces in chronological order the events of the Shoah from before the Second World War to the liberation of the extermination camps. The external park is dedicated to people of all nationalities who have worked in Europe to protect and hide the Jews saving them from deportation.Particularly touching is the childrens memorial on which I do not anticipate anything because I think it is a place to see with your own eyes. I did not use the audio guide but I think that the descriptions are sufficient.

I actually couldnt bear it. The architects makes the horrific past so real that yes I might have ties to it but you cannot walk through and watch in awe at the marvel they created without shedding a tear or having your heart and soul wrenched inside out, Without the sense of loss and gain, and the strength of these people. This ingenious museum is a must for any traveler to Israel.

Heart-breaking place that makes you feel the darkest corners of the history of the Jewish nation and mankind as a whole. Museum is highly instructive and guides you from the rise of modern political anti-semitism all the way to the gas chambers of Auschwitz. Numerous monuments and buildings in the complex are an extreme example of how architecture can connect historical experience and emotions between the victims and the visitor. Make sure you are aware where you are going before you enter, try to stay on top of things and please avoid any disrespectful behaviour (especially if you have children with youas this place commemorates the 6 million perished in the Shoa and should be treated as such. Entrance is for free but consider a donation to help keep this site going. Thank you.

U cant take pics here in respect for those men women n children who perished... it was a sad visit n just quietly looking n reading thru stories of what seems like from horror movies of suffering n deaths but there was also stories of courage n strength of faith n hope... my unforgettable visit was short cuz i was alone n late coming ... i only took pics outside the bldg. i would like to visit again n even go to the library... im not a jew but forever loves Israel n the Jewish people!.. much respect n prayers to all victims of this horrific crime n the their families.. may their memories forever be a blessing!.. 🙏

This free museum is a place that I believe every citizen of the world should visit! The horrors of the Holocaust is told in a great way, and you truly have to be tough to go through the entire museum without getting wet eyes. The only downside were the noisy, large and numerous tourist groups. The guides are speaking loudly in a lot of different languages and a place like this really needs more silence. It doesn’t change the fact that it is a great and important museum.

Amazing place, a must see in Israel. Yad Vashem (Hebrew: יָד וַשֵׁם‬; literally, "a monument and a name"is Israels official memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. It is dedicated to preserving the memory of the dead; honoring Jews who fought against their Nazi oppressors and Gentiles who selflessly aided Jews in need; and researching the phenomenon of the Holocaust in particular and genocide in general, with the aim of avoiding such events in the future. Heavy place. Great place to learn history. Opens a few new questions. Generally easy to get to via taxi or public transportation.Admissions is free, but a map is 12 shekels and the guided tours are fee base. Sell guided tours are easy, too, but youll probably get a lot of history-gap-filling with the guided tours.

Such an amazing place! Very detailed, every element in the museum is dead on - and the tour guides are very good at what they do!One thing though. If you are planning on spending a long period of time there, take into consideration that the food is very expensive- and it is really bad- such a shame!
