YHA London St Pauls Hostel in Witham
Description
Wasi need a raise. Best hostel worker I have ever met.
Great place...fabulous building and history...needs a little TLC but perfect location!
MoreIncredible location, very beautiful building, nice and helpful staff, good food... Perfect accommodation for a school group!
MoreUnfortunately this place has the air of an establishment you would expect to rent rooms by the hour
MoreA wonderful place to discover London , the staff is great and the food quite fine. A memorable experience, thanks !!
MoreStayed over night with a school group. The staff were friendly and helpful through out. Food was good, especially breakfast. Rooms were clean and comfy, facilities were close by and all clean.
MoreBasic hostel that is having some refurbishment done to the exterior of the building. The interior needs some work too - the bathroom felt like a hospital wet room. The bed was comfy though. Friendly staff. The water refill station didn’t work - the water was warm !! There was cold water in the breakfast buffet - but this tasted tainted by plastic. Value was good though.
MoreMold/spew, carpet stains, cigarette burns, dirty bedding, bugs, no WiFi, smell, extra charge for towels etc. Room 19 on September 22nd repulsive environment for a school trip absolutely disgraceful. We did not sleep because of the horrendous conditions good luck if you plan to visit this accommodation xx
MoreGood value for money, but be prepared for cloged shared toilets sometimes. Very nice staff.
MoreSuper convenient location where you can navigate London easily. It is a very old building so they didn’t have a lift which was rough with big luggage. The staff were so kind and helpful! Facilities were clean. I felt safe. Would for sure recommend.
Morenice place great location down side is the shower i used was broken and only let out boiling hot water or freezing cold so it was not a enjoyable shower all also the cleanliness in the showers and toilet not being perfect despite this i would definitely stay again as it was great value in a superb location
Morebed bugs, the building is wrapped in foil so it is very warm in the small, rancid rooms, the showers make you claustrophobic and the canteen stinks like pukeThank you for nothing
MoreYes I came here with school over all nice staff and quite clean the shower wasn’t working the best bus as soon as the staff were informed they fixed it. The toilets were basic but did the job. The rooms were all good sized the only down said was it was really hot it was 28 degrees outside and I would say around 32 in our room and we got given a broken fan.The food was ok good options. They had a vending machine to location was good right close to a main road with some shops you could also here Big Ben every 15 mins
MoreLike this place. Obviously amazing location. Some people don’t like the noise from bells of St Pauls but to me it adds a bit of culture! Room experience can be a lottery - sometimes on your own in big room, sometimes with 6 other rather smelly chaps in a blazing hot room. In general this place is great - and for the cost there is nothing else that can even come close. The lounge area is actually a nice space to read or watch tv and have a drink before retiring to the ‘bunk’.
MoreThe concept of the hostel is for big groups, the location by itself doesnt organize pub crawls or tours or at least I didnt see them. I put 3 stars because the restrooms can improve. The personnel is friendly and professional, the location is not bad, they just need to focus more on individual guests. Breakfast is in a typical hostel fashion, nothing special (not the guilty of the folks in the kitchen). If you are staying here, many free attractions will be available appart from ten!Cheaper prices at the front desk for attractions and some people from England staying here for one night or two (in case meeting them is on your top priorities).
MoreThis historic building is full of life in this hostel. The accommodation is very comfortable. The ablutions were very clean and trustworthy. And the food... I think the only spared luxury in a hotel is a single bed room. If you want a real London adventure, then why not stay in a hostel from which you can see St Pauls Cathedral and a short walk away from major attractions.
MoreMy friend and I stayed here for two nights and we weren’t let down! The rooms were nice, however the beds were very squeaky an uncomfortable. The bathrooms did not work very well but I did not personally run into any issues. Our biggest issue was that the place didn’t have a fridge or kitchen which would have been very useful. This also definitely isn’t a hostel to meet people at, there were many families and few teens. I was also kept up at night by the church bells and random yelling / noises on the street. I understand this isn’t controllable by the hostel but we had to keep the windows open because there’s was no fans, hence the louder noises. Despite all of this, the hostel was quite nice and I was pleasantly surprised.
MoreGenerally its a decent hostel and the location is great. However, they charge for every single extra which in other hostels is usually included in price. They do have lockers in rooms, BUT you have to buy a padlock for 3£ if you dont have one. They do provide towels, BUT you pay 2£ to rent them. Want to leave your luggage in the hostel if you arrive before check-in time? Want to leave your luggage a bit longer after your check out? Sure, BUT prepare 2-3£ for it.
MoreA very good hostel, rooms relatively new and clean, especially liked a power plug and a small shelf for the top bunk. Only minuses are that its too warm in the whole building (and I was visiting in Oct!and a church bell that bells every 15mins, throughout the night.
MoreGreat location, right next to St Pauls Cathedral & underground station. Lots of quaint little pubs, bars & restaurants available in the surrounding area.As for the hostel itself, fantastic lounge area & cafeteria. The rooms are neat, cleaned regularly and big, convenient lockers are provided for storing larger items of luggage. However, the wifi is inconsistent which can be frustrating at times. It should also be noted that it doesnt work in the rooms, which doesnt really make any sense.A special mention goes out to the staff for being incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. To be frank, I was going to rate it 4 stars due to the wifi issues, but the amazing staff made up for that.Highly recommended for young & old alike! Great job guys!
MoreNice hostel. Rooms are clean as well as the building. Some may think are small, but you just have the necessary for sleeping after a long day in London. Beds have each a lamp and usb connectors for charging, so dont worry about adapters. Breakfast is really good and tasty, you can have a variety of things to choose and for sure you wont be hungry in a while. Staff are really nice, they let you leave your things in the storage room if you arrive before check-in. The location is good for visiting the cathedral, although if you want to visit the Big Ben or Buckingham Palace, those are far away, but there is a metro station really close so it is not a problem to go directly to those places.
MoreNot bad for a youth hostel, the service was great, and they accommodated our large group of 44 people. My family of eight had our own private bedroom, but we did share a bathroom which didn’t seem to be a problem. The place is relatively clean for a hostel. Best part about this was the location, you cannot beat the location of this hostel! We enjoyed several evenings sitting on the steps of Saint Paul before we returned for the evening to bed.
MoreMy favourite London hostel and as always in any YHA, the room was clean and spacious, the bed was comfy and the ambience was friendly. I booked a few days in advance and found a bargain, so treated myself to a private room for 2 nights. This place has character and you get to tell the time by listening out for the cathedral bells. The only downside is the lack of a kitchen for guests to use. The carrot cake on the coffee and cake deal was delicious. Ill be back!
MoreI was invited to a conference room here when I was an extra in the TV show first dates. The place in general was a nice place and looked clean and tidy, the meeting room was really cool with a proper fire place! From the other reviews it clear that for a central London place to stay its pretty cheap and worth it. I would definitely book the meeting rooms if I need.
MoreWe had a private room and really liked it. The rooms are great, the toilets and showers clean. The water in the shower smelled slightly though, and the bells of the Cathedral were very loud (and rang throughout the whole night, every hour or so). Apart from that its a nice hostel, and perfectly in the center 👍🏽
MoreGreat location and very helpful staff. its an affordable place to stay if youre on a budget. The only complaint is how easy it was to hear everyone in the building. I am a light sleeper and had trouble staying asleep. All in all, I did enjoy my visit. A good central location for the frugal traveller.
MoreIt was my first experience at a hostel and Ive really enjoyed the place. Staff are kind and amenable, especially Leigh and Kess, so such friendly people (thanks for the jacuzzi!). The bedrooms are clean and large enough when you only want a good nights sleep after such filled and energetic days walking by London. Breakfast is tasty, varied and cheap. All in the hostel is neat and nice. It was a really good stay in there.
MoreWhile the rooms were a bit small, the staff was friendly and generally knowledgeable about the area, bus lines and metro stations. The neighborhood is nice, several coffee shops and supermarkets in the area. My friend and I booked an all female dorm. The beds were a bit small and the showers are one per floor, but all in all, it was a decent place to stay. They had large, in-room lockers for backpacks, so bring a padlock. Their breakfast costs £5 per day, but theres plenty of delicious food, so if you enjoy eating a big breakfast, its worth it.
