The hike wasnt too strenuous. The nightscape views of Taipei are really nice from up here. It does get very crowded. You get a really nice shot of Taipei 101 from one of the observation decks.

A great place to catch the sunset over Taipei and the great 101 Tower building is the Elephant mountain. Unfortunately there are no real elephants to be seen but the skyline view, and the beautifully lit streets and building is a good enough reason to take the 30 min trail to the view point. It’s a steep climb but hand rails and stone steps lead up and over the mountain. Defiantly worth it once you reach the view point. At night there are lamps to guide you but if you wish to take the trail after sunset have a flash light handy.

Long stairs! You should prepare a good drink, and it is okay to stop a bit and move after your breath is OK again and your heart race turns down. The scene upside is good, worth it every stair.

Worth to climb if you want to see the sunset view of Taipei 101 (so many stairs, not that easy but after you arrive at the top, it will be one of your amazing experience). Free! Just prepare your camera and water.

While the trek is indeed simple, kudos to the town development team for making it so user friendly. It is a simple trek and very thoughtfully designed. While the sunset scenes are great, the sunrise is also very picturesque.

There are a lot more gorgeous, varied, and spacious trails within Taipei MRT distance but I guess this is a good classic if you’re looking for something shorter and don’t mind climbing all the stairs single file behind all the other visiting tourists.

From the Xiangshan MRT station, you can take a few minutes walk to the entry point. There were quite a lot of stairs, but fortunately it was not that high 🙌🏻 The view from above was breathtaking, I will definitely go back another time to enjoy the night view 🌝

A perfect place for a gentle hike and enjoy the view over Taipei 101. Easy to get access to from either the Red Line Xiangshan MRT station or the bus network within the neighborhood. Feel free and safe to hike here even in the evening as there are lamp poles along the routes, plus the area seems to be way bustling as that the night falls is the time when many folks come over for a night view of Taipei. Ought to get here early to get yourself a good spot overlooking stunning Taipei at night.

For a long time I’ve wanted to go here, and it did not disappoint. The view at sunset is beautiful. Wasn’t expecting the stairs, was a warm evening, but it’s all worth it

Good walk. Steep stairs but theres a handrail most of the way so its hard but not too hard. Great views over Taipei once you get to the top. We went and night and it was stunning. Make sure to pack bug spray and water!

Super easy hike with a great pay-off. Very easy to see the city from the top, as well as midway, and has a lot of rest stations on the way up for those who are not as fit. Theres a bathroom near the outdoor calisthenics park at the top. It also connects to many other trails which are worth going to if Xiangshan is not a long enough trek for you.

The best time to hike the mountain is during late afternoon, this way you can catch the sunset as well as a daytime view and stunning nighttime view of the city, however the trail can get relatively crowded during the weekend. The hike takes a total of around 15-20 minutes to the top, and includes lots of stairs! Remember to take a left at the fork in the path. After around 8-10 minutes, there will be a landing area with facilities and restrooms where the path branches off in multiple directions.

Totally worth it! A landmark in all over Taiwan with breathtaking views of Taipei city and its famous skyscraper, Taipei 101. Once on the top there are some rocks in which you can sit/stand on to take a photo with the view of the city on the background. There is a subway station a few meters to get there. Climbing is easy in a normal health condition, however, if you go in summer, you must bring with you water and mosquito repellent.

It was a short hike with a breathtaking Taipei City views, specifically Taipei 101. Surprisingly, the stairs were quite steep, so prepare to sweat. All in all, it is a must to have activities in Taipei, especially if you dont have much time to explore the city.

If you want to have an experience outdoors, complete with a great workout plus gorgeous views, this place is it.Well over 30k steps to the top and bottom. The hike consisted of steps, of all sizes, straight up hill. The hike lasted about 3 hrs, and not once were we bored or not interested in what was around us.The hike took a lot of energy. There was a lot of public enjoying their morning walks and hikes, some put me to shame, the elderly! It was a great experience. Can see myself doing this again. The area houses a number of temples, had many statues and people pray to them. A few outdoor gyms to workout throughout the mountain. Reflexology Stone paths alongside these outdoor gyms. I’ve not seen anything like this in North America.I would do it again, without a thought!Definitely a gem in the city of Taipei. Please like my review if it was helpful :)

If you are looking for a view of Taipei this is your natural view. The hike is relatively normal with some areas having a steep incline. There a couple of options you can take almost like choose your own adventure. Take your time climbing up and although the entrance is somewhat hidden there are signs that guide you there.

The hike itself are mainly just staircases, and will take about 15-20 minutes each to reach the top - which then you will be greeted with one of the most magnificent views in Taipei. Beautiful and crowded during the golden hours. You will need to queue up for that famous rock photo spot at the peak, however I think a better photo spot is at the wooden deck slightly before the peak.

Nice place for a hike to get a good view of the skyline and Taipei 101. Be prepared to climb quite a number of steps on your way. I only did the first part of the trail that gets you the money shot of T101, but the trails seem pretty expansive so they seem like great hikes, and a nice way to escape the frenetic bustle of the city.

Good place to see the whole of Taipei. Its a bit of a hike to get up to the top, you can bring kids but stair will be challenging! Youll see elder people go up the stairs but they dont go all the way up the top. We only stayed few minutes and took a couple of photos then came back down. Once you get to the top, its a bit to crowded for my liking. Squeezing to get a good photo pretty much. Good for exercise though

Beautiful and perfect place to see the beauty of Taipei from up above. So easy to get to via Xianshan station, just a 15 to 20 min walk (there are signs along the wayto get to the entrance of Elephant mountain. But you can also get there via taxi. Once you reach the entrance, its a 20min uphill hike via stairs. Not really for the faint of heart or for those who have weak legs. Luckily we were guided by one of the locals who showed us an easier path to get to the top. There are multiple platforms to see the view, but the best one is really at the top when you see these rock formations. Best to come early than 9 or 10am to avoid the crowds. Bring a bottled water as well and comfy hiking shoes.

The walk up was about 15 mins, the stairs were steep, but you can get a nice view of Taipei with 101 in sight. I recommend going right before sunset so you get to see both the day view and the night view. Be careful of the steps as some were kind of loose. There’s a look out point called six boulders and you can get a nice view if you go early and claim a spot on one of the boulders

An International Mountain, Xiang-ShanJust take the red line to the final stop, Xiang-Shan Station. Then, start from the number 2 exit and take a 10-minute stroll to the entrance of the hiking trail. Youll pour some effort and time into hiking up to the top of Xiang-Shan. Along the way, youll see lots of foreigners and hear a variety of languages. From the observatory of Xiang-Shan, you can enjoy a panorama of Taipei City, especially Taipei 101.

For the thrillseeker, you will be rewarded with a good unobstructed view of Taipei 101 and the city skyline. I beg to differ on the beginners trails suggested 15 minute to complete suggestion as it took way more than that. It is quite a hike so be dressed appropriately and wear insect repellent. There arent any spots to rest on the incline up-- visitors have to be physically fit and resilient.

It is THE place to get the best picture of the Taipeis skyline with the perfect view of the Taipei 101. I recommend staying there for the sunset as thats the best time to capture some stunning shots. People come here with their camera equipments and it can be very crowded as everyone wants to take a picture.

Great views and a great hike. The path is fully paved with stones, some paths have very low rise steps others are much taller. Some stones can be a little loose, be careful. This is not a trail that you can run.Depending on how fast you are, it can take 20 to 35 minutes to reach the first platform. there are several places to rest as you work your way to the top. There are a few viewing platforms so be sure to explore.

The way going to the top is a challenging one. You should have a warm up first before going to this mountain. You should wear comfortable walking shoes or sandals. Feet, knees, thighs will be challenged going up, if it rains, be careful since it is slippery. Take note you will be climbing your way through stairs.

This is a must for any trip to Taipei!I recommend using jetlag to your advantage and getting to the base of the trail no later than 6:00am to beat the crowds. Your pictures will look better for it.The whole trail is paved, so you dont need any special hiking equipment. But be warned: this is some major up. Im an ultra runner and I sweated through my t-shirt climbing these steps. You will, no matter how slow you go, have to go home and shower after this hike.Stop at the first vista for some pics, but dont stay too long. The real view is further up. There are some rocks that you can climb for some truly breathtaking pics. Theres also a platform to the side for more standard, clear pics.Walk down and grab breakfast at one of the little cafes between you and the metro stop.

Great place to get amazing view of Taipei city and Taipei 101. Quite ok to hike for beginer like me, just relax climbing. There is a huge stone that can be as photo spot with Taipei101 view as background, but need some effort to climb. I dont dare to climb that time. Suggested go there for Sunset. If Sunrise too dark to climb. Stairs got handrails and along the way got few rest area to control breath. Bring water. Overall its worth the view. Actually still long the way up have temple, but we didnt manage until there because we need to go down before dark.

Best place to go to when you’ve eaten too much or many oily food in Taipei and want to catch a glimpse of the sunset or sun rise with the Taipei 101 as the main view. Many tourist come during the evening so if you want peace and not many people, hike in the morning and on the weekdays. It will be worth the hike and very peaceful there

Fantastic view from the mountain (hilltop! The hill is easily accessible from Xiangshan (Elephant MountainMRT station.Didn’t really clock, thought it took about an hour For a round trip. The stairs are moderately steep but manageable for young and old. There was a fresh orange vendor 1/4 up the mountain. The photo point at the top is wonderful. The rock where people takes photo looks like an elephant. Hence the name Elephant mountain, perhaps?

Great hike. Its not easy but doable if you take your time and stop to read every 5-10 minutes. Stairs are really steep. What makes it more difficult is the hot and humid weather of Taipei plus all the bugs! (DONT FORGET YOUR BUG SPRAY!But the view is totally worth all the hassle. I suggest going an hour before sunset and coming back after dark (the trail has some lightsfor the best views.

Amazing view of Taipei 101. Definitely worth climbing up those flight of stairs to get a good view of Taipei. The steps are easy and well lited. However steps can be extremely slippery if it rains.Would recommend going in the evening to catch both the day and night view of Taipei. The walk is actually a loop so doesn’t matter which path you take. However you would need to walk for abt 10mins from the mrt station before you can start the trail.

It isnt hard to get here, just getting on the train line to Xiang Shan (Elephan mountain). From the station you follow signs to the mountain trail. There are plenty of trails on the mountain but there are maps which show which trail you should take if you were aiming for a certain area. The paths are mostly stairs. You can choose how far up the mountain you feel like going. The signs on the paths give approximate times to get to the next area.

Probably the best view you can get in Taipei. Better spend some energy on those stairs instead of spending money on that elevator in Taipei 101. There will be plenty of people during sunset. But its still not too crowded, since plenty of tourists give up at the first location. Go all the way up to the rocks and youll meet dozens of amateur photographers fighting to get that same picture. Still, I also took part in this battle of Elephant Mountain. It was fun.

A challenging climb up stairs, accessible to all as you can set your own pace and take a rest stop as needed. At the top of the climb you are rewarded with an outstanding view of the city! Bring water and snacks to enjoy both along the way and at a lovely rest area at the top. Give yourself 2 hours to enjoy from top to bottom. Signs are clearly marked from the MRT so dont hesitate. Its also easy to follow on google maps. Enjoy!

Spectacular! This mountain is a gem of Taipei. The maintained trails are nice, but they only lead you to the main/first scenic photo spot. The unmaintained trails are strenuous and, in some spots, dangerous, so be prepared. Its wise to bring extra water and food if you plan on hiking past the tourist spots, but its so worth it!!!
