Xantus János Állatkert in Gyor

This zoo is my favorite because the animal pens are very beautiful and there are palm trees and exotic flowers everywhere. In the zoo, there are many programs like the zoo show where they show animals and they talk about each animals history. Another very good program is the elephant training where they show how they take care of the elephants. The penguin walking is also good but its more for younger kids. The restaurant is very good, the food is delicious and the service is kind.

We also visited the zoo with a small 5-month-old baby and I must say that he enjoyed it very much. The animals are in many cases very close, which is very interactive and interesting for children. Sometimes it was a bit difficult for us to walk with a stroller, not every road is adapted to it, but it was manageable. The zoo is definitely not one of the big ones, but it has everything you would expect. The whole tour, even with a small snack, can be done in 2 hours. It is also possible to buy animal feed, which I would recommend as you can feed deer and giraffes in close proximity and the children enjoy it. The price was acceptable, but I was a little surprised that they were paying even for such a small child in a stroller, but it is rather symbolic. We would love to come back when our little one grows up.

I can say that it was the best zoo that we have ever seen. Not only animals, dinosaurs park, playground for children, animals shows.... Everything was 10+

Suitable for children, many animals to see

Very nice ZOO. Not large but compact and full of interesting animals. Good parking in front of main entrance. As a foreigner, I liked the possibility to pay by card not only for tickets but in almost entire ZOO (drinks, ice cream, food). We liked the contact with animals and possibility to feed them. Central playground is nice for children. Food was mainly fried but good selection including ice cream, drinks, coffee. It is nice place to spend 3-4hrs. There is also a small Dinopark in this Zoo but quality of models is quite poor, maybe therefore it is not mentioned even on ZOO plans. However, if you have a fan of dinosaurs at home, (s)he will be happy to see it at least for fun.

Beautiful and big Zoo. You can buy food for the animals in the Entrance of the Zoo. The deer are not afraid of humans, so you can touch and pet them. There are giraffes, elephants, penguins, tigers, bears, lions, birds etc.The only bad thing is there is only one snake...other than that its a great Zoo. Would recommend.

One of the best Zoo i ever been. These animals are well and happy. They are taking care of them very well. The experience is Top, being so close to them, feeding them.. We loved it so much.

Really nice zoo with tons of shade thanks to the trees. Clean and very well maintained. Animals have nice space to stay.

Its good place for family for sure

In their advertisement they promised lots of kids program for childrens day, but actually there was no program at all for my 12, 14 ones, only for smaller ones.

Very very dirty everywhere (cafeteria area also. The animals are not having a proper care🙁. I had the feeling that it was an abandoned garden. As well regarding the payment, the cashier charged us for the animals food without asking if we needed or not, and for our son 1year old (and trust me he doesnt look oldershe charged a normal ticket, so instead of paying 200huf, she asked us 2200..or something like that... But the most important: please clean the zooland, and improve the care and the quality life of the animals.

Good place to visit, fun for all the members of the family. Unfortunately the Rhinos were relocated so we couldnt see them. The Zoo Show was absolutely fantastic! Thank you

well-chosen materials, outdoor aviaries, and fairly active animals. Amazingly funny giraffes and elephants. But the view of the pipes around and some old Soviet houses is a little upsetting.

You can spend here at least 2 hours admiring white tigers, a white lion, white kangaroos and you can see from really close the giraffes and other animals. The price is reasonable.

One of the best zoos Ive seen until now. Its incredible that you can get super close to, even pet some animals. I recommend visitting!

Its a very nice compact Zoo. Plenty of animals to look at. You can even handfeed some of the animals. The animals are well cared for with plenty of roaming space. The cafe is nice but the food is not the best. Recommend

Long time favorite Zoo. Constantly improving and adding more animals. Most of them looks healthy and not stressed. The goats are nasty sometimes

One of the best ZOO in Central Europe and can compete with the big ZOOs like the ones in Vienna, London and so. Family friendly and animal friendly, feeding the deers and petting zoo are the highlights of the visit. No much concrete and steel cages, instead very nice wooden more natural animal enclosures. Kids playground is also very nice. Parking is free and without any issues right next to the entrance. Its worth all the money. Our kids and also we adults loved every minute. Will definitely come back.

We spent here more than 5 hours! This zoo is not huge, but there are a lot of places to walk and to feed animals.There are very tasty 😋 kürtőskalács (chimney cake), beautiful wc place (that’s probably funny, but I liked it), amazing playground!Highly recommend to visit, that’s really splendid and marvellous!

Barely any animals, really bad value for the money. Probably this was my last time there. Only good thing was the small deer feeding portion for children.

It is a small zoo but it has a lot of intresting program for kids and their parents.I think it is a good place for you if you would like to spend your free time then i recommend for you.

we stayed in Velky Meder for a week and decided to go to ZOO in Gyor with 4 year old son as it was close. Zoo is relatively small compared to other ZOOs I have been to and bit expensive and is being renovated (summer 2019), so part of ZOO is closed. There is a lovely playground for children. Be aware that they dont speak English when you want to buy tickets and ask for more details...(lady there was not really customer oriented...). Overall 3 stars, after renovation I would give 4 stars. Still worth to visit.

A wonderful zoo that allows a LOT of interaction with the animals. Feeding the giraffes was unforgettable! Definitely buy the zoo food from the entrance for that!

No way to visit. Not even worth it. Even if the animals has got good health. The whole place is big labirynth. Must have "Recommended Route" inside the place because its chaotic. Must have more toilets, shops, etc.. I wanted to buy a drink and i had to wait 15 minutes in the queue. If an exhibition is closed because due of health problems or whatever, please close it properly. Its small thing especially the "recommended route" but please do it.

Its a super zoo with a lot of animals

Its a small Zoo, but worth visit nevertheless. They have a separated area where you can pet and feed deers (quite lovely creature).I dont get the opening hours though, Its only opening at 10 am even on weekends. Small children require sleep after lunch, so between normal circumstances you have about 2-2.5 hours to see everything you want before your kids get overtired and start ruining your whole day.

Perfect zoo for children. Not big, max.2 hours walk, children can play on big playground and aninals are so close. And very rare animals: white kangoroo, white tiger, white lion.

Employees dont care about visitors. Employees smoking inside, zero customer service. The park itself is very nice, but some of the exhibits are filthy and I felt really bad for the animals...

Great for all ages. Plenty to see, large range of animals. Enclosed and open, can feed and touch some animals. Childrens playground.

We enjoyed our visit here, it is a lovely place. However, it could use a little more investment to tidy it up and bring it up to a higher niveau. Rusty fences and gates dont look good. I loved it here, nevertheless.

Small but very entertaining zoo. We had a lot of fun there. You can buy animal food from the entry for just 400 forints. Feeding the deers was amazing experience. Very well kept cages, possible interaction with some of the animals. They had white lion and white tigers which is amazing and part of the cages are glass so you can see the animals clearly. We spend about 2 hours and it was fun. Totally recommend, its a must see!
