32-37 Cowper St, Shoreditch, London EC2A 4AP, Tskhinvali
Live music and DJ club nights across 2 floors in refurbished nightclub with street art aesthetic.
Kicked my friend out for being “drunk” even though she wasn’t, and let the guy she was outside with back in, even though he was worse for ware. Awful! Security were off their nut too, laughing at my friend being kicked out, there was a woman security guard too, laughing because of it. Definitely don’t care about the welfare of other women. Awful. They would’ve let her walk home alone if they could’ve. Not good in this day and age. Sort it out, especially that woman security guard on tonight. Imagine if that was your daughter.
Be very careful how much you are charged as you dont see your bill with their payment system. Thankfully revolut frozen my card and blocked payment. Remember to check your statement next day, call your bank if something is wrong (you can always do it and get your money back). Music and club itself are great, but 1 star for their dodgy practices.
Worst female security I’ve ever seen…. Her rudeness is arrogant and targeted
I went to Shoreditch with my friends and lost my phone on a night out which also has my ID in it. I had no way of getting home and was very upset - the bouncers were so lovely to me and made sure I got home safe. The club helped me get an Uber home and ask kept me warm as well as making sure I was safe in London alone. Thank you so much
Very nice environment and the music event was very cool
Most helpful of staff given that the venue wasn’t designed for wheelchair access. And once inside the staff were just as helpful and friendly ♿️😁
This was the WORST club I have been too. 1The bouncers are extremely rude. They told my friend to “sober up” by taking 30 mins outside before she enters the club, which she did, but they still refused her entry.2I’m a foreigner and I used my foreign ID and they took issue with that, which is stupid because London is the place where many visitors are here for a short time from abroad. I felt very uncomfortable being stopped for so long because of my ID. Once an ID has the name, age and picture of the person then that should be enough.3When I left the club with my friend (which people usually do if they want to grab something to eat, etc), they didn’t let us back in.AVOID this club at all cost. They just take your money and ruin your night.
Honestly the staff were cool but this is definitely the worst club in the world. The cover definitely wasn’t worth the vibe it was practically empty on a FRIDAY NIGHT insane. As someone from NYC and I’ve lived in here, I’d rate this 1/10, London you disappoint us!
Thank you for turning us down yesterday, you saved us money and we were able to fully enjoy a wonderful Sunday morning in London 👌🏼
Good club decent staff, they were mad chill hella security tho QMUL student so it was alright Tbf
HORRIBLE!! the bouncers were beyond rude! it was like they had something against me (idk if racially motivated, im asian). the other ppl in line looked like they were one drink away from passing out while i was just tipsy, yet the bouncer told me to "walk it off" OUT OF HIS SIGHT. i am female and new to london so i would rather not walk around at night alone, so i tried to stay in the far side of the alley. the bouncer literally walked up to me and told me to take the turn and get out of his sight essentially.someone was asked to pay 50 quid for a plate of drinks that he caused the waitress that was carrying it around to spill (there was a literal moshpit and the woman was still trying to manoeuvre her way around the crowd). he paid, but still got kicked out??i got vodka shots from two bartenders, one charged me 7 the other 8. and hello, 7 pounds for a half empty shot of vodka??when i left the club, i was just minding my own business walking away normally, yet some other bouncer still had to make a point and tell me to get out "their" street. well, yeah, if you want me to get out of your sight let me walk?anyway, rude, disrespectful bouncers thinking they own the entire street and ridiculously high prices
Their music is really bad. The DJs do not take recommendations from the clients, even thought they clients are who they are attending to. And they do not care to make a good experience for their customers.
Great Experience, however there are some events in which you cant go alone, so you must check the website before.
The club was full of people, rude security guard, made fun of me just because im a tourist and i dont know the rules, they let a woman(doesnt belong to the securityshout at me and tell me to go away even though shes not security and not a worker.Inside the club they sold us a shot and they told us it was made of jeigermeister, cola and redbull meanwhile it was only a cola and they sold it for 5 pounds per each shotTotally an awful experience, expected to be respected and to get some help.
Bare rude bouncers (or shall I say brown shirts/ SA fascist like hench men. Owned by Steve ball). Stay well away. All they want is your money. That’s all they want. They don’t care , they just want your £££. Why give your money to these establishments, lining the pockets of these owners profiting of a culture. If you wan rave go squat or somin. This place is like a fascist state inside. Security guard watching you in each corner. Bun that.
Good venue and vibes, good staff and bouncers but EDM fans be aware Thursday nights are for R&B and hip-hop so very few if at all high tempo songs on these nights; not a problem at all, just a matter of personal preference
Super racist and xenophobic bouncers!!!1. Told my friend to sober up although we didn’t drink.2. Later, when were about to enter saying I need to sober up.3. 3rd time we tried again because they were now apparently closed. The promoter was selling stamps in the line but the second we started speaking our native tongue, he just left and did not want to deal with us. Do not go there if you want to be discriminated against and disrespected.
would only go here if you’re trying to get harassed by weird men. absolutely unbelievable that you cannot see how much you are paying for. staff sneakily £3-5 on top of whatever you order. do not recommend
Staying in London briefly, I visited XOYO on my first night and had a good time. Being nearby the following night, I thought I would go again, but was told there is a no single entry policy. Any venue which still has this policy is worth one star. How can you meet people, whether you are a tourist or a local? I went to fabric instead, and met so many incredible people from around the world. If you want to have a great time and make friends, give XOYO a miss!
My phone was stollen in this club, bouncers were terrible, they wasted my time, told me to wait and after 30m told me they cant help me and they cant call the police for me.Overall terrible experience, terrible staff and terrible place.
Bouncers asked me respectfully to answer all their questions, I went outside for a cigarette and they racially profiled me to leave the club. I was completely respectful to their request yet they said I was not allowed to enter, but other guards said I was okay to enter even though I listened to what they say. DO NOT ENTER IFYOU WANT THE CLUB TO DISCRIMINATE YOU FOR BEING ASIAN!
Overcrowded, you can’t even move. Considered that we payed for a ticket, it’s not worth it if you need to be punched and pushed the entire time. And there is no point in paying for a ticket if they let an unlimited amount of people in.
Pay for a "refundable ticket" and never get a refund! No response from the company doing the refunds its just a joke. Is that how you make your money! I cant help the trains are on strike and I can no longer come. Lost over 40 quid. Not a joke in this day and age
we would give them 0 stars if we could. We arrived at 11:30 with pre purchased tickets. They refused to let us in claiming we were to drunk (we werent drunk in the slightestand resorted to intimidation tactics and talked down to us. The security guard ended up putting his arm around me saying to get some water and come back in 15 minutes. We obliged and came back. After returning, instead of letting us in they greeted us with a condescending stare and continued to not allow us in. We didnt know what the issue was, but it seems several others in the comments have had similar experiences. They hire bullies not security guards.
(BEWARESimply Avoid this place at all costs: Very Aggressive Bouncers/Rude Staff/Bartenders con you for tips.Very aggressive bouncers who threaten to assault customers. The staff as a whole are very rude and the venue itself is very badly run. Also, they have this new payment system, whereby the customer is unable to view how much their bill is. Its all done on an IPad sort device, and when making the payment you are unable to view how much the drinks actually cost. Because of this reason, the bartenders then add tips to each payment you are making. I noticed an extra £3.50 on the second round I had purchased and on the third another £4.00. Keeping in mind that I was ordering the same round of drinks each time, however I was getting spending alerts on my phone showing that I was spending more after every order. After asking the bartenders if they could show me their system to see how much the drinks cost, they got very rude and aggressive with me. I simply left this establishment and will never return again.Definitely keep away!
I just returned from the club XOYO which is at Cowper Street EC2A 4AP because we were refused entry , even though i had a physical id which was my Indian resident id (also known as aadhar cardwhich had a valid barcode and serial number which could be recorded on the system. The first bouncer checked my id and let me through. After being checked by security , i proceeded to the second bouncer , he checked my id and disrespected me as well as the id i had. He said he could tear the id into half and said that i made it myself . I did try to explain it to him politely while showing him my passport on the phone so he could cross check my birth date. He refused to let us in and told us to meet his boss. There was another group of people in front of us who were let in without any physical id , they only showed it to him on their phone and he let them in. Clearly i felt a whiff of RACISM as the group ahed of us being residents here were allowed to enter without any physical id , but inspite of me having a valid physical id I wasn’t allowed to enter. Then the bouncer told us to meet his boss in a shrewd tone. His boss too refused to give us entry and when we told him about the person ahed who was allowed to enter without any physical id , he too told us to “get out of there”. In the past 3 days ive been to different clubs in london and they too had a scanner and i was allowed to enter with the physical id ( aadhar cardthat i had .
Turns out I dont like techno. Well, now I know. The dance floor was kind of small and there is an awkward raised island in the middle, but I guess some people like it, to each their own. They barely put any RedBull in Jagerbomb, thats sad. The toilets are dirty obviously, there is so much security its disturbing, I guess there is a lot of weird stuff happening frequently.
Great club, usually a really good atmosphere. Bouncers always pretty friendly and respectful (although expect a lot of checksand would recommend!
4 people including myself had their phones stolen that evening. If you go make sure u keep hold of ur things tightly because there’s pickpocket’s everywhere.
Went here last Friday with a group of friends and got publicly insulted, for no apparent reason, by the DJ during his set. He swore at us and said some very uncalled for insults about our behavior, even though none of us were doing anything out of the ordinary for a night out. We were also treated extremely unprofessionally and unkindly by the staff in response to the situation. We had each spent 25£ for entry and had barely spent 20 minutes inside before being treated this way. Have had some okay experiences here before but after this incident I wouldn’t recommend the place to anyone.
Check if you need a student card before to buy your ticket.. nice security but still no entry.. I been there before and I had a very good time.
Absolute disgrace . I was thrown out after being accused of doing lines of coke a substance of which Ive never touched .when asked for proof the security refused and just gave a vague answer stating " you were seen on camera" which then changed to "you were spotted by a member of security " that then changed to "I saw you doing lines of coke".I was then threatened to be searched and have the police called on me so for fear of my safety I left without confrontation . The security reserve the right to remove anyone from the venue yes ,but to throw someone who was stone cold sober and had only been in the club Mabey 1 hr and hadnt have any issues with anyone or taken any drugs is complete rubbish .
The bouncer was incredibly rude and unprofessional, telling me I need to come back in half an hour because he watched me take a few sips of a drink not from the club, not even in the queue. Very aggressive and rude. Wouldnt come back again just because of this.
Amazing club with nice sound. Went to Danny Byrd’s The Byrdhouse show and vibes were just right
We went to Ram Records dnb party on Friday for my 35th Birthday celebration at XOYO and it was a terrific night out. From when we arrived we felt welcome and looked after by the excellent staff at the venue. It was a great atmosphere and good vibes all night, which is not always easy to find these days. The sound system was on point, the drinks were reasonably priced and all the facilities were clean and working well.We will definitely be coming back to the venue again soon and I highly recommend this place for a good night out.
Had a class night when I went. The bartender marci was incredibly lovely and made sure me and my group were safe and okay every time we went up to buy drinks.
If you like a venue that oversells tickets and has bouncers randomly pick people out of the queue for being “too drunk” even Muslims who funnily enough don’t even drink then this is the place for you. And no you won’t be refunded for the tickets they sold you ! Absolute joke of a gaff
Definitely improved since I last came.Bouncers we’re proper sound! Bar staff we’re on point too.Definitely going back soon 😁
Went on a Thursday, the turnout was good but the music wasn’t the best and the drinks were rubbish. Also the bouncer took some random stuff out my bag and refused to return it which really annoyed me
My girlfriend and I went to XOYO the other day and we were severely disappointed. There were so many gross men in this club who were visible to security, one of whom touched my breast, another upskirted me and another dancing near us while staring in a predatory manor, and another male touched my girlfriends arm then slowly moved it to her waist then her back as he walked past her. We saw multiple drug deals which were happening in front of security also. 2 vodka and oranges were £25 which is ridiculous. We were barely allowed to get our coats when we finally left and we’re shoved and shouted at to get into a line that led to all the way outside, this was only between 12-1am, there were also not separate lines for people taking a coat in and those leaving which made it very stressful.
It was a decent nightclub. Didnt really play type of music I typically listen to but it was still a lot of fun. That said, some of the security is absolutely terrible and will treat you horribly because of the little power they have over the night. That all said this place rating goes down because of poor security. This is not for all security by the way only a select few.
I ve been going to xoyo regularly, on and off for 4 years now. They used to host good djs, have a nice atmosphere, attract a decent crowd, there to dance.I dont know what happened, but since the pandemic it has really gone downhill. They are now doing mostly rap nights during the week instead of techno/tech house/dnb/disco that they used to do. It attracts a very rough crowd, mostly drug dealers, or thirsty fellas. The security now will make up excuses and claim to not letting single guys in or that you re too drunk, but i know they are, i ve been going into there drunk and alone for years now! They claim you ll get a refund, but it ll never arrive, they ll taunt and bully you if you try again. It has sadly gone to my “blacklist”, will avoid it like the plague, and take my money, spend it elsewhere. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid…
Booked 2 tickets online and arrived late because of the subway strike and delayed bus system. We were informed that doors closed at 2 but it was closed already at 1:30 because apparently the promoter decided to call it a night and go home. Security weren’t willing to let us go in and enjoy the last one and a half hours after we spent 3 hours just trying to get there and another 2 to get back to our hotel room. Most disappointing about our trip to the UK, still yet to receive a refund.
There was a Student Night party, it was very good until Dj has decided to give his mic to some people to sing like all same vibe of the music. I believe it put everyone a little bit down. Beside that good price drinks and nice quality of music
Nice relaxed easy going venue.Cloakroom absolute disaster not at all for the sake of the assistants it on their own they did their best. & £3 per item feel slightly bumped. As well near on £5 each for water - complete joke especially if you don’t drink alcohol. Could have done with some more toilets too. Apart from that the security were firm but fair and found them polite and friendly.
Very easy to get to being a stones throw from Old Street tube this venue is both a club and live music venue.Entry was well managed but seemed a little slow with the door staff being fine. Once in there all the normal amenities one expects. The bar downstairs only served beer in cans but was well staffed and service was quick and pricing was not outrageous. The sound is excellent but stage lighting is clearly designed to frustrate photographers. Went to see live music and the place is fine for this.Ample loos but no soap in any of the dispensers, this is basic stuff so one star knocked off.
Good space with two floors so you can choose to have a relaxed boogie or an all out rave. Good array of drinks as well. Security is very OTT a lot of people being knocked back and no chance of getting back in if youve left. Probably a better fit for under 25s
Fabulous All Inclusive Five Star Clubbing Experience.Falling over myself to know where to start, have been to this brill venue a number of times over the years, on so many levels you tick all my boxes. When celebrating my 63rd Birthday weekend and taking advantage of the Dalston Roof Park Saturday afternoon warm up combo ticket with XOYO, yet again I felt so comfortable in this no attitude venue, you so can be yourself by what you wear (more often personally very little!and how you dance. To highlight just how inclusive, more recently I met Susan wearing a glamourous sequin dress, for eight years this lady has been coming to the club with the full support of his wife.XOYO is one of the very few clubs that offers a DJ residency and is a great attraction, The Blessed Madonna and Dimitri From Paris have always blown me away.Offering two rooms with the main attraction downstairs (I love the raised stage where you can also boogiethis venue also has the added appeal of Less is more some clubs which have multiple rooms is not always an advantage. The ground floor smaller room usually has an all night DJ, with plenty of chillout area seating, so often lacking elsewhere. Catching up with the fab HI-FI Sean in this room after so long was a great joy.DJ Joshua James an XOYO regular, your sets are mind blowing. With friendly security, lovely bar staff, terrific lighting and an imaginative events line up, well done!
Absolutely crazy fun filled night had here in XOYO! If you like dark clubs where you can really appreciate the music then this is the place you want to be. I went on a Saturday, security was friendly and they do a good search at the door so I felt like Id be safe in there. Upon entering on the ground level you are greeted with a really dark bar where you can get a couple of drinks to get ready for the main event downstairs. Its super atmospheric with the ceiling covered in leaves and vines, almost like a tropical rainforest when the fog machine starts pumping. Lazers scan the area as you are introduced to music that helps you get into the zone. A couple of drinks later and you are allowed downstairs to the main area with the big DJs. Everyone in the club seemed like they were in a really good mood and the vibe was perfect. No bad vibes here. The main DJ set downstairs (too many DJsblew my mind as the night went on. Superb crowd and good service, never had to wait long for a drink, either. Toilets were oddly clean and easy to get to without a queue when it was packed on the floor. Drinks where priced as you would expect from a club in London. Also if you need a breather there is a space upstairs to sit with friends for a chat and also an area outside for a smoke break. The place is kept clear of used drinks containers pretty quikly by staff so no tripping up on diagarded bottles ever step. So if you are considering a night out with friends I would whole heartedly recommend this club! Thank you to any staff member reading this, I am already planning my next visit!
Proper London Drum and Bass. As an American visiting, showed up here and it seemed like the part was just getting started at 3am. Clearly a happening place, but luckily we knew someone to put us on a list. Seemed there was a huge line (or queue as the locals sayto get in. Pretty fun but wow.
