This polished hotel overlooking a bustling city square is 4 km from the Acropolis of Athens, an ancient hilltop citadel that includes the Parthenon, and a 2-minute walk from the nearest metro station.Chic rooms come with free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs, as well as espresso machines, minibars and marble bathrooms. Upgraded rooms add Acropolis views. Suites provide sitting areas. Room service is available 24/7.Amenities include an airy, upmarket restaurant, a modern bar, and a rooftop terrace with a pool and a hip bar/eatery. There's also a spa with a sauna and a gym, plus 14 meeting rooms. Parking can be arranged.
Mr. Vasilis Zozomis, front office manager, is a professional manager who sorted small issue we had, on the best side, and mase us highly satisfied! The hotel is very nice, the breakfast is great and the service is very good!
Stunning view from the 9th floor bar/restaurant, friendly staff and the rooms are lovely.Only lost a star as it’s advertised as a spa and wellness hotel but the gym facilities are virtually non existent and the pool was closed during our stay (likely due to COVID still but we were not made aware of this ahead of time). There is a small spa facility for massages and other treatments. Had two deep tissue massages during our stay and both were great.
My wife and I were traveling around Greece for our honeymoon, and we stayed here for the downtown Athens leg of our trip. The first night they did not give us the room we booked, which should have had a single king-size bed. We instead got a room with 2 separate twin beds. The front desk did nothing but give us excuses and bottle of champagne after giving us a room we didnt book, completely shutting us down on comping the room or giving us a discount on the stay. The elevator system here is also very broken. They tried to use a destination-based system like youd find at high-end office buildings but it is not programmed correctly so you will find the elevator waits to be extremely long sometimes. We had another night booked at this hotel on a future date that we decided to cancel because of the bed mix-up that they refused to correct for us. They outright denied our cancellation and ignored all attempted contacts by the agency that booked the hotel. No refund on the cancelled date, but at this point I was so annoyed with the staff and the broken elevator system at this hotel it was worth paying not to stay there.
For a 5 star hotel this was a very disappointing stay out of all the hotels we stayed in Greece. The area is not tourist friendly after dark. Room was filthy and smelled like cigarette smoke. Wifi was not connecting. Breakfast had fruit flies in the buffet area. We had to contact front desk staff twice until we got offered a room change and were taken seriously. Don’t waste your money staying here. We wished we read more reviews and did better research before staying.
The hotel is just wonderful. No down sides. Everything is perfect. The best thing is the breakfast at the rooftop with view of Acropolis. The only trouble is the neighbourhood which is delapidated. Nevertheless 5 minutes on foot you can reach plenty of nice bars and cafes.
Excellent and discreet hospitality. Very clean with a unique view to the Acropolis. The breakfast was excellent and the nearby pool was also nice equipped. Both are located on the 9th floor with a view of all of Athens. The suite was very spacious and very ergonomic. Only issue might be internet speed and instability ...
The staff were very helpful and did their best whenever we had a special request. Breakfast and evening meals were of high quality. The rooms were well-equipped and surprisingly quiet considering the hotels central location. We will certainly be back.
Lovely hotel, with smart modern rooms. All facilities were excellent as was the Rooftop Restaurant with Amazing views of the Acropolis.Only downside is that its in a Run Down Area.
Kristina at the front desk was very nice and helpful! It was nice to be greeted so warmly after traveling on a 10 hour flight. We stayed at the Wyndham for our first night of our 8 day trip. I would most definitely recommend this hotel because of the following: cleanliness, location to city center and ease of getting to the hotel. You’re in walking distance to many things. We also received great help from Marko at Guest Services. I would recommend speaking with him on your way out if you need advice on places to eat and things to do.
Toilet was not very clean. Nice staff. Great view on rooftop restaurant. But noisy
Great view from rooms and rooftop but the hotel isn’t in best neighborhood and has kind of a weird feeling to it. Breakfast buffet was sub par.
Not a great location in town. But its a clean elegant hotel. Just dont go out after dark
Large and beautiful hotel. Elevator system is highly advanced. Rooms are small but modern. Breakfast is incredible!
This was my first stay in Greece!!! I arrived 10/10-10/11 and also for my last night before returning on 10/16/2022. The room was very spacious and clean. I loved my view of the Acropolis from my room. Hotel staff and reception are friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this hotel. And the panoramic view from the room top is amazing. See for yourself!!!
The Wyndham is a nice hotel in a horrible location. The hotel itself is lovely and definitely worth 5 stars. However I wish I had done my research about this place and realised it was in a junkie area. The outside surrounding roads do not fit the look of the hotel. They placed us in a very tiny room originally but once we complained that it was unlike the photos they moved us to a better room immediately. Thank you for that. I just Reccomend people check the area before booking
Definitely over rated. Not nice. Not good service. Front desk staff rude. Clean enough yet desperately trying to sell you and cheap. Very mediocre. Yes clean enough, definitely not more than 3 stars.
The staff I interacting with was very nice but the hotel is extremely understaffed. There is no early check-in, after hours of waiting i still receive the wrong room.House keeping/maintenance needs great improvement. The shower smelled and is molded. Luckily the tub with a shower but no shower curtain water gets everywhere. Despite my request, probably due to short staffing it wasnt cleaned. The pool was crowded but needed to be cleaned/treated, there was a green ring around the walls seen in the morning while having breakfast.Im not sure exactly what my feelings truly are you for this hotel. I was extremely appreciative that I was only staying for a layover and didnt spend much time there.
No idea why it is a 5-star hotel. Front office looks confused and stressed. I booked a king bed room for me and my wife, but for some reason got a room with 3 twin beds. Also I booked a taxi during check in for airport transfer for 9:45, but in the morning I learned they don’t have that noted and I lost 25 mins while they were trying to get a taxi. Neither during check in or check out I was offered help with luggage.
Quality rooms at affordable prices right off the metro and walkable to the Acropolis. The location is almost perfectly situated in Athens for tourists visiting the Acropolis. Take the metro a few stops or walk. Walking will take you through some interesting neighborhoods, welcome to Athens. There are at least 2 incredible restaurants across the street from the hotel, Mironi and Alexanders. Late night food available in the square as well. Rooms are spacious and absolutely recommend getting Acropolis view. I did hear some complaints from others while at the hotel, but my experience was good. The pool is small and not great and closes early. The rooftop restaurant is good with fantastic views, especially at night. Hotel service looks like they are busy 24-7, front desk is a hive of activity all day. Some tour groups base out of here too. The bottom floor is odd, mostly not used. Stay here, save a few bucks, walk around Athens or take the metro. Have come back twice due to the location.
We are staying at Wyndham “Grand” as of this moment. Oct 5-9. We arrived at about 1pm, tired and hungry from a 20 hr travel and with a child. We were told the room would be ready in 30, then 10, then 10 min… which we actually got it at 230pm.The room is very disappointing. The shower has no door, the water is already all over the bathroom. They made us wait for the 3rd bed. I would never let my child sleep on it, looks like a hazard.I would NEVER stay here again. Sadly, we are booked for 4 nights and will have to pass through it. The guy (can’t remember the name, starts with a Pat reception was kind but Kristina had no sympathy for our situation.Noticed a pattern, 2 other elderly Indian couples had faced the same situation from the day before and we’re still struggling. We being an Indian family too couldn’t help but feel singled out.
Great hotel away from the real busy parts of Athens, nice for a quieter stay. Staff was helpful, especially Stavros who helped with our bags and provided plenty of recommendations.
Good service, helpful staff but the cleanliness suffers badly and the rooms are tired and need renovation. Not what you expect from a 5 star. The restaurant on the roof (the only one in the hoteloffers bar food and club sandwiches for dinner. Never seen anything like that in a 5 star hotel. Its equivalent to a good 3 star not 5. I cant fault the staff though. They are trying their best
This place is absolutely stunning and their service is incredible! The concierge went out of their way to ensure we had dinner and a ride lined up after a day of exploring. Couldn’t be more grateful for them. Thank you!
Totally 5 star for service. We arrived early from the airport, the staff were incredibly apologetic even though not their fault at all. They managed to let us rest in the lobby while we waited for the room to be ready. The manager and the late night shift staff in particular made our day. Offered us breakfast as we waited too.Thank you so much guys.
There are 2 hotels that very close to each other. One is what you see in the pictures the second one is definitely NOT.What do is get your order in the reception, ask you to sign all the document and from there you can forget about the hotel that you ordered. The experience we had with them regarding that situation is very sad.
The hotel has great views across the city, but sadly the 5 star rating is not accurate.Inside is dated, carpets worn and marked. Surfaces are not clean and polished and the windows around the top floor needed a good clean, looking through dirty windows to a lovely view doesn’t make a 5 star feel.Rooms are clean and comfy. The tv had limited English Chanel’s (bbc world news and CNN)Not a smart TV, which would be expected so guests can watch there own shows, especially to help relax after a busy day seeing Athens.Shower seals were burst, both shower heads were burst and water goes everywhere.Staff service didn’t meet 5 star, often they lacked attention and would slam things down or not even acknowledge you, which again is not a 5 star hotel service. Served coffee in a dirty cup / crusty milk round the jug.The pool is an added benefit, one of the reasons we booked, but the number of beds are limited and has an opening time of 11am.It feels like a corporate / tour group hotel, which has been overpriced and lost its edge.
Checked in the hotel yesterday with my boyfriend. The hotel is nice and room was clean but thermostat in our room is not working. It is very hot in our room and we are very discouraged about this. To add insult to injury when we checked in there were no face towels in the bathroom. We called the front desk twice to request 2 face towels. almost a day later and we have still not yet received the towels. I had to provide a honest review due to this hotel had so many good reviews but I have had better service with other local hotels for less the price and more amenities. Hotel is a bad location. Homeless people are everywhere and the area in Athens is known for tourist getting robbed. If you want a face location to walk around this is not the hotel to bar hop and partake in evening activities.
Overrated for the quality they provide. The cleaning is that of a 3 star hotel. The pool is very small and only 8 people are allowed in at the same time.the view from the room is very “ beautiful “( if you want to see clothes out to dry). And let’s not forget the city charge that is €4 per day 🤣, to be honest I think that charge is for they’re pockets only because the area where they are located is an absolute DUMPSTER!
Long story short: do not stay here.Starting with the good: it’s the only place that feels safe in a few block radius. The colour scheme is pleasant and the most of the light bulbs in the room work. Now for the bad: dirty rooms. The floors are not properly swept or cleaned. The bed in our room has a hole in the blanket and a black stain. There is damage to the walls, floor, and ceiling. The worst part is the bathroom. It has mildew all over, mould on the ceiling, and the counter looks like it hasn’t been properly cleaned for months. When we called the front desk to complain, they said that they’d call us back. Instead they sent a guy who came in on me half naked even though we said “one minute.” He scrubbed the mould and left, leaving the room smelling very strongly of bleach. We called the front desk again asking for a new room, but they said that the guy had cleaned it and that it was okay. After explaining that they bill themselves as a five star hotel and that our room was nowhere near worthy of that rating, they argued with us until they finally gave in and transferred us to another room on the floor of equivalent value. The second room was marginally better than the first. The bathroom was just as disgusting but the mould was on the shower floor in the corner instead of the ceiling. In closing, the hotel is disgusting, the location is very sketchy, and the service is what you’d expect from a motel 6 on the side of a highway.Stay away and spend your hard earned money somewhere that deserves it.
Loved the place! The service was very kind and the rooms had been visited every day for a clean up. I didnt have a door in my shower but it didnt bother me, my parents had a leaking problem in the shower and it took the room service less than 30 minutes to get there and fix it. It wasnt necessarily a 5 star hotel but the kindness topped everything, and eating breakfast to the breathtaking view of the Acropolis was everything I couldve asked for. The pool is rather small and most of the time we couldnt find spare sunbeds for my family so that was a bummer, but thats about it. Two lovely restaurants right at the entrance of the hotel, with low prices, great food and even better service in both if them. 5 minutes in a cab will take you to the Acropolis and the huge area of attractions around it, which is most of what you would wanna do in Athens. All in all, a great place to stay!
For Western standards probably a 4 star. However, living in Asia, this hotel compares to a 3 star Asian hotel. It takes 15 minutes to check in (because receptionists we’re arguing at front desk), pool & gym closes at 7pm (receptionist said because all over Athens pools close at 7pm 🧐. Our room shower leaks making floor slippery, shower soap rack was broken…
This is not a 5* Hotel. The cleaning is super bad. And they are really under staffed. Huge waiting line at reception and they are very difficult to reach by phone. The pool is minimal and all the chairs get occupied fast. The spa/relax is quite sad also.If you want a 5* luxury stay, pick something else!Ill let this picture stay as a demonstration of the cleaning service. This breakfast tray was left outside a room until 17.00. 8 hours! 5* hotel.. no.
It is very well located and have a good breakfast to start your busy day. The downfall is definitely the maintenance of the rooms. The big shower did not work properly for us. The pool was out of order and the rooftop bar has an amazing view but the bartender we had was more interested in having personal conversations than paying attention to orders. Overall we had a decent stay but expected a lot more from a hotel like this. Also very understaffed. Our rooms were only cleaner in the afternoon every day. So we had to wait a lot for them to be done.
Depending on which room you book, this hotel is great. There is an issue with the shower which flood the room. But other than that, the location is decent. There are a few shops and restaurants nearby. They also have a rooftop which is just incredible. But for the amount of money it cost, they should definetly adjust a few things. Roomkeeping should be a bit better. Lots of emepty showerbottles which never got refilled. The train station is very but you are at a walking distance for many attractions. One of the staff was very friendly, his name is Dimitris. There were some other good people to as well.
Very dodgy area. Seems to be squarely in the red light district. The walk to the main attractions smell like old urine. The view from the roof is exceptional. The hotel itself is fair.
The hotel looks great but there is a lot of problems in it.The cleaning of the rooms is very bad. Although we asked for it to be cleaned, it did not happen for several days. The service was incomplete. We had to ask for towels twice until we got them. The area of the hotel is not the nicer place of the city and its not pleasant to walk around. In the good side, the breakfast was very rich and fresh and the hotel bar is a nice place with great view and the crew is nicewith excellent service.
This hotel is a bit tired and in need of renovation. The showers in multiple rooms flood the entire bathroom so you are standing in water after. The staff is very friendly and helpful but they are limited by lack of renovation from Wyndham. Definitely not a 4 or 5 star hotel. Taxi service is easy and there is an amazing Greek restaurant very near by that helps to offset the disappointment. Embarrassed that this hotel chain is from my home country. Wyndham, please sort this out and improve our reputation.
Great hotel had an upgrade on room so had a lounge and bedroom was a treat. Had dinner on rooftop restaurant so could view the Acropolis and Parthenon, beautiful. Some reviews said people didnt feel safe in the area but my daughter and myself felt safe, the metro station was just around the corner. Easy access to all places via that rather than walking. Acropoli stn just 3 stops away on metro, that was close to everything. Also easy to get to airport and only €9 rather than taxi or private car which are really expensive.
Save yourself the hassle DO NOT STAY HERE. there are many hotels that are around for the same price and much better service. I never would waste my time writing a review but honestly this place was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at its dirty staff are unhelpful and rude. First night I checked in had me see a bathroom like this and horrible staff at the roof top restaurant even though they charge like a 5 star hotel. Second night no air conditioning.
We turned up and the twin room wasnt ready. They had not got breakfast on our account even though it was on our schedule from our tour company. They got us to check in and leave our luggage in reception. We went out for 5 hours. When we can back they said that we hadnt checked in, they didnt have a twin room for us so we had to except a double. Our luggage was still in reception. When we got to our room the phone wasnt working either. This has been a disaster from the beginning. I asked to see the manager but was told he wasnt on site. The room is nice but nothing special. This may not be everyones experience but it was Not a good experience for us. I expect the Wyndham group to provide us with compensation fir all the issues that we have had.
The room was dirty. There was dust on the counter tops and dirt in the corners of the floor. The area itself is sketchy so beware if you’re going to stay here the entire trip. I asked the front desk for an iron and it took 90 min and 3 phone calls to receive it. Supposedly it should’ve been standard in the room. The shower has a bad set up. Water was all over the floor and no extra towels are provided in the room. I would not stay here again although the views from the rooftop are amazing.
We stayed here for three nights. The view of the acropolis from the room at night is breathtaking.Kristina at the reception took really good care of us, even though we made a mistake with our booking.Big selection for breakfast at the roof top restaurant. We were upgraded and really enjoyed our stay. It’s located in the centre of the city and all the attractions are at walkable distance. Will definitely stay here if we visit Athens again.
Nice big rooms and bathrooms. Clean. Reception staff was nice. I stayed in a more central hotel prior to staying here for one night. I had a wonderful time in Athens. However, if I would have stayed here the whole time, my perception of the city would have been totally different. Make sure you get out of your room and truly explore the city if you stay here.
The Hotel was great but their Breakfast was the worst I have ever tasted. All cooked eggs tasted bad. I saw other peoples plates with eggs not eaten as well. The chef prepared everything completely bland with absolutely no flavours. It was very disappointing since it was our last night here and we had such a great dinner across the street at Mironis. The chef needs to go back for more training.
Pool beds are EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE and need replacing - ruined our stay at the hotel. Pool itself small and cold but nice. Rooms good quality - comfortable beds and all modern and clean, but TV has no English except two news channels. Breakfast buffet is good. Location central but not closest to main areas.
It’s a decent option for the price you pay! Don’t expect any 5 start luxury amenities or feel. Rooms and washroom are decent and clean. One disappointment was there was no1 to keep our bags in the room. Hence we had to drag our own suitcases. This isn’t something you’d expect in such a hotel.
The staff at this hotel is wonderful. They are very accommodating. The rooftop view is very nice and chill. The cleanliness of hotel is much to be desired. The rooms and hallways are in desperate need of remodel upgrade. This would be why I would not recommend to stay here.
Staff was excellent across the board, from the bellhops to the bartenders at Above, and the rooms were clean and modern (not sure about the reviews that are to the contrary). The room we were in was small but not uncomfortably so, and again, well maintained. Had a small issue with the shower (the rainfall showerhead was broken and sprayed you directly in the face no matter how you readjusted it, and the door to the shower didnt seal properly so every time you took a shower the floor of the bathroom would be soaking wet). The rooftop bar, Above, was very nice and had a great view of the city and the Parthenon. The bartenders were great but to be honest the drinks were absolutely terrible (I know they were trying their best but every cocktail I got just had raw brown sugar sitting at the bottom which was very weird to me, and they werent well mixed). The food was not great and the choices were very limited, and some of the wait staff seemed unwilling to accommodate, but nothing major. The main issue is with the location. If youre planning on just staying in the hotel then its fine, but if you want to explore Athens, especially on foot, its going to be an issue. I didnt feel unsafe walking around by myself at night but theres really nowhere to go or anything to do and the traffic circle the hotel sits on is very difficult to navigate and has no crosswalks at all. You really just have to chance it and jaywalk. The neighborhood is also very old and rundown, which, again, I never felt unsafe as a lone woman walking around, but others might. Also, I personally wouldnt consider it a 5 star hotel but it was very nice, clean and comfortable.
Hotel had great views, however was disappointed with the cleanliness of the room, having had to wait over an hour for our room, you’d expect it was cleaned within an inch of its life!!! not the case, floor was dirty, tv remote filthy, wardrobe floor very dusty, shampoo and lotions not new had been used by previous guest, a big no, no, also you had a free coffee pod and water then you were charged if you used a second lot, not 5 star service, staff very polite but I did find service very slow, you ordered a drink and it came 10-15 min later, outside hotel, I appreciate this is beyond their control but it’s a no go after dark
The only reason the overall experience is not 5 stars is becuase of the neighborhood. It is close to the metro and the bread store across the street is open 24 hours. However, there is a lot of garbage and graffiti around the hotel. I felt safe walking around in the daytime. At night, maybe not so much. If I were a woman, at night I dont think I would be outside of the hotel alone. The rooms and staff were all top notch.
