630 1st Ave N, Fargo, ND 58102, United States, Fargo
Bar with industrial decor offering beer along with sausages & other German-style pub grub.
Always great food and the service was beyond incredible. Plenty of local brews on tap and great takes on traditional German food.
Ive been wanting to check this place out and delicious is what I would describe it all around!! Staff was awesome and the beer from Ayr ND was THEE BEST! It had a tart cherry flavor and oh my gosh that was the tastiest ever!! Loved the beverages and the food!¡!!!
We were there for the record fair. All the employees were so nice. They gave suggestions on different beers.
The food and atmosphere are always nice but that staff are always friendly and have great recommendations on food and drink, always helpful
Had the rabbit/rattlesnake mac and cheese. Very good. Nice place. Lots of beer choices. Interesting food choices.
Very tasty, (spicy if you wantGerman food. Very unique. And almost any beer that you could hope for plus a full bar.
Love eating here, a great experience and a chance to sample some great mustard and German side dishes to go with your sausage!
Excellent and authentic German food. Several imports on tap as well as many great local brews. I was very excited to see borscht soup on the menu. The borscht came with plenty of dill and sour cream like they serve in Moscow.
A Fargo "must have". Delicious. Try the curry schnitzel. Its not on the menu, but order Jager Schnitzel, hold the mushroom gravy; add curry sauce. Youll thank me later.
spaetzle mac and cheese. do it. they have other food, im sure it’s good, but why? there’s spaetzle mac and cheese. sure panera has a drive thru but at the cost of your enjoyment of some quality, filling mac and cheese. everywhere else has kraft mac n cheese 🤮. get the spaetzle mac and cheese, you won’t even care that you had to drive downtown. get the spaetzle mac and cheese. don’t even have to like sausage, you’ll probably eat it anyways. get the spaetzle mac and cheese. also good service. good vibes. you’ll want to tip ur servers 100% after eating the spaetzle mac and cheese. get the spaetzle mac and cheese. 170% endorsement
Excellent German food and beer. Must start with the pretzels and try the Dusseldorf mustard! The Spätzle and brown gravy is delicious! Don’t forget to get a Hefeweizen to wash it all down!
I initially thought this restaurant was the best but now I realize that Wurst is living up to how it sounds. In the past, I have been satisfied with the food and service from this business. I estimate that I have dined at this Wurst location about 50x over the past few years.Recently, I rode my electric skateboard charge my battery while I ate at Wurst. As I was plugging in my charger near the back door, a lady (who said she was the owners wifebecame irate and claimed that I was going to overload the circuit and burn the place to the ground. I laughed because I literally thought she was joking with me and was a great actor. She was actually serious. I left hungry for polite service so I pulled up to the Spicy Pie down the street. The Spicy Pie employees saw me with my board and charger in-hand and cleared off a table with outlets underneath so that I could enjoy some delicious pizza next to my battery charger. For one to succeed in life, they must see opportunity in the darkest places. I see an exquisite opportunity for young entrepreneurs looking to start a business in any type of service industry. I recommend them to visit Wurst and take notes on how the "owners wife" treats people that are giving her money so that they can understand what not to do.Additionally, I recommend the owner to send his wife to counseling so that she can develop on her emotional management skills to prevent HER from starting their business on fire.Farewell Wurst, I will miss you.Yours Truly,Derek
Great beer selection, appetizers were really good. Pro tip, ask for curry schnitzel. Its not on the menu here but its jager schnitzel without the mushroom gravy, then get curry sauce which they have for the curry wurst. Spectacular. Nice portion size and delicious. Seriously, not to be missed.
Great schnitzel and the waitress was very friendly as well.
My first time being there and probably some of the best fries I’ve ever had and my chicken sandwich was absolutely amazing. When I’m back in town for work again I will probably be eating there every night.
Atmosphere is so fun. Their food tastes genuine. It is not too salt & you keep coming back for more. Love the Choose 3 Sausage platter, but the secret is the homemade warm pretzel & all the sides. They are all delicious!
What a great place to eat! The welcoming atmosphere, the courteous staff, the amazing food, it was all worth going there for!!
I am not much a beer drinker, but I know a good German sausage when I eat one. And this place knows what theyre doing. If you are in Fargo make sure you stop here. You wont regret it.
As I enter the low lit schene in downtown Fargo, we approach the wurst bier hall. The industrial environment with oak wood accents echoes glimpses of the pagan origins of Germany’s wicca past. The steel beams and chain link fence personify the power and industrial nature of the German people. I felt as though I was able to feast through the timeline of the Germanic people. Meat, beer, and kraut. Mmm
I absolutely love this place. I got the elk wurst and my girlfriend got poutine and both were packed full of flavor and left us feeling full. They have a great variety of beers on tap and even a few ciders, which I appreciated. Friendly staff, bustling atmosphere but still easy to have a conversation. Overall a great experience and we will be back again.
Friendly service with a good variety of tasty food and drink options.
Very nice German-style place, with good food and a wide selection of beers. Service is amazing and I really appreciated the fact that some sausages are made with local meat coming from North Dakota State University
1 - the vibe is great2- the food is amazing3 - the service is okayBeautiful spot with a great atmosphere! I order a couple drinks along with the German brat with classic toppings with a side of sweet potato fries and beer cheese. The brat was perfect, French bread amazing, fries perfectly seasoned and cooked. The service wasnt bad but could have been better. At the time I went, it was not busy but the bartenders/servers were hard to come by. Aside from that, it was overall a great experience and would recommend to anyone in Fargo wanting some quality food and great beer!
One of my top 3 places to eat in Fargo. Go there often when Im downtown. You cant get more authentic German unless you drive 250 miles. Its the best.
The weirdest salad Ive ever seen. What you see is what you get; 3 microscopic pieces of hardboiled egg, 3 gargantuan slices of tomato, 3 slices of cucumber, some lettuce, and an UNCUT SPRING ONION sitting on top. Its embarrassing as all the ingredients are fresh, however it feels like a baboon has slapped this thing together without any thought or care. The only redeeming thing about the experience was that the waitress was amazing. Couldnt have asked for better service or nicer smile.
We got the poutine, pretzels, jagerschnitzel with knoephla and cabbage, and sausage flight. All of it was amazing! The schnitzel was perfectly crispy and the mushroom gravy on everything was delicious. The bahn mi style sausage roll was our favorite of that flight. Both the appetizers were amazing as well, but I think the pretzels won out as a favorite (just barely!Great beer selection as well, with LOTS on tap. Had 90s music videos playing on the TVs, very friendly and inclusive LGBT vibes from staff and customers which we didn’t expect but really appreciated! Felt right at home I’m a city we’d never been to. Took a minute to grab our waiter for the check but it was a busy Friday night so totally understandable. Can’t wait to return and try the rest of the menu!
Service was quick and friendly. Large selection of local and national brews. Food was absolutely delicious and the shredded is nice a big.
This. Freaking. Place. Everything we had here was absolutely amazing. If I lived in the area, you couldnt keep me away! The pretzels were the absolute best any of us had ever had in our whole lives!
Dog friendly and tasty beers! We did a flight and a bunch of German sides. Dog bowl provided, nice picnic benches with good spacing to permit puppy movement.
Loved everything we ate here! The spatzele Mac and cheese was awesome. Loved the cheese sauce with the hint of acid from the white wine. Wursts were great. Our fav was the Philly cheesesteak. Wish we had gone with a bigger group so we could have tried more things!
Not the wurst but the absolute best! What an amazing beer selection (with plenty of ciders or mixed drinks for people like me who have trouble with beer-y beer). Let my dog sit on the patio with me and even gave him some water! If you get the pretzel, try it with the marshmallow fluff, it’ll taste like a pancake from Heaven! Staff was super friendly, will be back!
We were told to try the sweet potato fries with marshmallow cream and it did not disappoint! Big portions of comfort food, a cold beer on tap and friendly staff! Definitely recommend.
The servers were very knowledgeable and friendly. The food we had was fantastic and there German beer selection is great. We came in from out of town for our anniversary and we will be back!!
After my first visit here I wasn’t originally going to write a review, but once I visited again and it was just as fantastic as the first time, I decided to finally give Wurst Bier some much deserved recognition.Don’t be fooled by the name- they serve far from the “wurst” items.. more like the “bierst” German food and tap drinks. Ha, I tried really hard there so please just appreciate the effort. There are two Wurst Biers- this downtown location and one in West Fargo. I believe this is the original location, and it’s way freaking cooler than the WF one anyways so come to this one for the full experience. It’s just got such a cool vibe and it’s different in each room depending where you sit (or outside!).Okay, so real talk. You can’t go wrong with any of their appetizers, and their bavarian pretzels are absolutely TO DIE FOR. Yep, you read right- their pretzels are incredible. They’re about the size of your face and come with cheese and marshmallow dipping, and are heaven in your mouth. The food here is just fantastic- heavy, as it is German food, but fantastic nonetheless. And they have a lot of good alcohol options to pair them with. There’s even a bacon & beer flight where you have 4 types of bacon and specialty beers to wash down each bacon with. Tons of fun!
Nice selection of taps. I had Bavarian pretzels. They were excellent and the dipping sauces were the best Ive had anywhere. We full time RV and visit breweries in every town, so best ever for me means a lot! Hubby had a glazed ham sandwich which he also said was excellent.
Very good food. Waiter could have come to the table more. But other than that it was a great experience. Had a nice Green apple beer that tasted awesome. I wasnt impressed by the perogies I ordered. They had sauce on them that was a mix of curry and Sriracha. The perogies were good but the sauce didnt pair well with them. IMO.
A wonderful find after 2000 miles of driving. Chicago tomDevils Tower and stops thru out, this was one of the silver linings of the journey. Lexi and Jennifer were so good with both adult beverage choices and food selections. Both were excellent choices and very welcomed to the pallets!! A great hang out after a long drive. People watching was fun and just vedging was the best too!!
Absolutely amazing. Had the schnitzel and a bratwurst and they were SO GOOD!!! Our waitress was also awesome. My favorite things had to be the schnitzel. The atmosphere was also really fun and they played good music.
Amazing! Wanted to try some "North Dakota food". We ordered pretzels with marshmallow fluff and nacho cheese, borscht, German potato salad, perogi and kuchen. So good and a very decent price.
Very American, nobody spoken German sadly. The bacon flight is worth the $5 price tag and my family devoured the giant pretzel with beer cheese dipping sauce. Friendly service and clean bathrooms. Family friendly too.
Great early dinner--the big pretzel appetizer with cheese & marshmallow fluff is incredible. Served hot out of the oven with great texture and flavor. Good variety on the menu--we had Polish and Hawaiian brats, as well as traditional schnitzel and spaetzle with red cabbage--all delicious. Pay extra for the sweet potato fries--best weve ever eaten.
Würst has a relaxed feel from the moment you walk in. The place is very spacious and inviting. And much like the name suggests, the menu geared towards bratwurst. The menu has an assortment of delicious brats to choose from, but also has some other notable items in there like the Buzzfeed mentioned Spaetzle Mac & Cheese. This was one of the items I had today, and it is understandable why its gotten some attention. The pasta isnt the usual elbow macaroni, but Spaetzle which is a traditional German dumpling and its accompanied with beurre blanc cheese sauce. The warm creamy, savoury goodness is certainly good to comfort those who order it, especially on those cold and windy Fargo days. The other dish I ordered was the Buffalo Bleu brat, which is a buffalo style flavor with bleu cheese, which was good, but there was more bleu than buffalo, so I didnt get that desired heat, but it was still delicious. And of course you cant forget about the extensive tap selection to wash down whatever hearty meal you decide. Definitely a good spot to drink or dine. And if you have any questions, the staff there is very helpful and more than kind.
Absolutely awesome food, atmosphere, and staff! I had the Jager Schnitzel and it was so good. They had a very good beer selection as well. I would go back here every time I’m in Fargo.
Today my son and I enjoyed the Sausage Platter with Giant Pretzel for Lunch. First of all, it truly serves 3-4 as the menu states and was WAY too much for the 2 of us - but boy was it delicious! The sausages all tasted great, the vegetables were tasty and the pretzel was my favorite of all - soft and fluffy on the inside, with a salty, buttery brown and crisp crust made all the better with a dip in the cheese sauce. I highly recommend this plate! If you find this review helpful, please click on Like.
Nice place and staff. They serve good German food and have a good variety of German beers. We took the big pretzel plate with sausages and it was amazing. Best pretzel we ate in North America but unlike the German bretzel it has fried finish (or seems to be). The Düsseldorf mustard they have on tables is really the mustard you can buy at Düsseldorf in Germany (we tasted both), and its really good. As people living near the border of Germany, this restaurant feels like home.
This is like your German beer hall! Community tables spread out. The wait staff was very nice and friendly and great for recommendations! We did the Bavarian pretzels, a must at a German place! Then the elk jalapeno and cheddar and the Philly cheese steak wurst. Shared fries, which were bland, I would have loved some seasoning. We got the Chipotle ranch and blue cheese walnut dipping sauces and those were amazing! Would recommend! Children friendly too!
Stopped in Fargo for a bite. Wasnt too sure where to go and wanted something other than burgers. I liked the idea of some German food and was excited to see jägerschnitzel on the menu. I used to live in Germany and that was my favorite dish. While this wasnt exactly like I remember, it was delicious in its own right. Id definitely stop in again if Im ever in town. The staff was friendly and attentive. They have a large beer on tap selection, in the 40s I think, some are a bit gimmicky, though. All around great place and seemed like a hotspot.
Delicious food and a great selection of adult beverages. I had a glass of mead and the wurst sampler. I was very satisfied and pleased. I also ate the poutine, which was very delicious. I suggest a stop to eat, drink, and enjoy the retro music. Two thumbs up.
This place was just fantastic. Really.Go here. The food is outstanding and the meat expertly cooked. Ive not had red cabbage that tasty since my visit to Germany, and I think it was better than what I had over there. 100% go for the currywurst, its something thats hard to find outside Berlin and if you run across it in the states jump on the chance to have it. Sausage with ketchup mixed with curry powder, simple and unoffensive but delicious. Also, if you are a fan of beer. Craft, foreign, and mass you will find a good time here. They know their stuff and will be able to appeal to any of your preferences. Try something new and expand your horizons!
I enjoyed the atmosphere here, foods great. The only set back I had with Wurst Bier is maybe they could add photos to the menu. The menu had a lot to select from, but I didnt know what the options look like. The management and staff were very cheerful and pleasing. When Im able I will be visiting again.
