Compact, free-admission zoo with animals from around the world & a walk-through aviary.
See Wright park review its all the same place
It was so cute and small not to overwhelming and the kids looooved it!
They need to send the animals to an actual zoo that will take care of them. These animals are in very small cages.
Stay happy make you healthy and feel you good 🙏🏻, beautiful place
The animals on display are kept in tiny enclosures. Buffalo and Longhorns are imprisoned in small filthy pens with no room to get exercise. I found it very depressing to see the animals living in such deplorable conditions. The white fox paced endlessly back and forth in its small enclosure. The poor fox has no contact with another of its kind. So very sad! The emu is living in the same conditions, all alone with limited space to move about. The state needs to shut this facility down and prohibit the city from ever housing animals again.
So cool to see and can’t believe it’s free!! The tiger was very shy but came out eventually you just have to be quiet. The raccoon is old but was adorable I love raccoons!! The sloth is slow of course but I didn’t realize how smart they can be was impressed to see it cover itself with a blanket. Super cute. Definitely recommend taking a trip to see!
We were too late t do be able to properly enjoy it. But it was nice. And I look forward to being able to return in the future.
Free little zoo, felt sorry for animals though
Small but nice zoo, in the large Wright Park which is very nice.
Its a nice little zoo, certainly more than I expected since its free admission.
Nothing fancy here. But still a plesent little zoo with some of my favorite animals. Worth checking out if you have a few minutes to kill or want to walk around and see.
Pretty neat little free place. Was hoping to see the tiger. Learned about vitamin deficiency when you feed ducks and geese bread. Its called angel wing disease. Im missing the red fox and pond birds.
Great little free zoo!
Not sure if this zoo has any sort of accreditation, but they need stripped of whatever accreditation they have and their animals need sent to places where they will have proper habitat and care. The staff was very rude as well, I imagine its the work environment. The best thing for those animals would be to close and an added benefit to relieve the taxpayers of the burden as well. An embarrassment to Dodge City in my opinion.
Fantastic little zoo right in the middle of the park. Great stop and play area for kids, even in the winter. Admission is free, but donations are accepted and definitely worth it.Located down the street from the Boot Hill Museum and close to other attractions.
Honestly the most depressing thing i have ever seen. Everything was dirty most of the animals had hardly any water. Overgrowth over most cages. Sad and hungry looking animals. The monkeys didnt have any light source or fresh air while we were there. Several dead birds laying around. Enclosures were way too small! Should be closed!
Nice lovely place, a few trees which is not usual in Kansas. I love how they designed it and how it has space for everyone ! Even to place basketball or walk !
Did not see all the animals I use to see out there. There was no pig and the zoo keeper would not help when there was 2 ducks out side the pin.
Lovely little zoo!
Smaller free zoo. Worth a stop when in Dodge City.
Great free zoo!Animals are mostly rescues and are happy, healthy, loved and well taken care of.
Its nice to walk around and see the animals, but the enclosures are really small.
There is no way to beat this for free entertainment. The was a wide variety of animals. We spent about a very pleasant hour there. I would definitely go back.
Its a gem! If your ever in Dodge you should stop by. Its a small zoo but its beautiful and the staff answered all our questions. It would be a nice place to spend an hour and have a picnic.
Small zoo. Enclosures are to small for most of the animals.
For a free zoo, its about what you would expect. It took me about 30 minutes to walk through and see everything. I wish the big cats (Cougar, Bobcats, and Tigerand the Bear had more space as their enclosures seemed tiny, especially compared to the aviary, which is probably 2 or 3 times the size of the Cougar enclosure. Overall a nice place to kill some time but I would recommend coming in the mornings when it is cooler and more animals are active.
Great zoo for a quick family outing. Well designed habitats and enclosures that allow the animals lots of space to move around, as well as make it their own, in the case of the wolf dens that they dug themselves. Albino peacock in the aviary, as well as a peacock chick when we were here today. Bring some quarters for food for the fish/ducks/turtles.
It’s free and we had a great time. It isn’t a giant zoo, but they do have informational signs about the animals. There was an albino peacock in the aviary! We spent a couple hours here, most other people spent an hour. Free parking. The park has a playground for the kids.
It was such a good zoo, but over time it hadn’t been kept over. It’s rundown the animals have little water. The water is disgusting. The Cougar has little to NO water. There was nobody in the zoo to take care of the animals. It was a sad sight to see. If you’re going to have a zoo at least take care of the animals you forced in there. They looked pitiful and hungry! The only thing I was happy with was the free admission and the goats had fresh running water. Please take this zoo under review and get better management!!!
This is a perfect little zoo and its free... I love taking my kids here ..they have a nice assortment of animals and its kept clean..you cant beat it
Small zoo but it nice for talking a walk...admision is free..can not feed any of the animals
Nice place to take children for an hour or two and near a park for extra fun.
Not much going on but its a nice place to visit but when it gets hotter outside in the swimming pool opens its all good 😎
Fun little free zoo. We only spent about 30 minutes there and the kids liked the adjacent playground better than the zoo.
Until I found this randomly I hadnt any idea that Dodge City even had a zoo. It is pretty small but unique. Not your average zoo animals either!
Absolutely loved the monkeys!! It is very interesting that our small zoo has so much. It’s sad to see some of the plaques are defaced or faded, but I understand the budget is more important on food and handlers!
For a small zoo that only ask for a donation to enter this is a gem on the plains. Not many animals, but the ones that were there were a lot of fun to see. They are out in the open enough that you can hear them make the smallest noises and get them to react to noises you make. It was a lot of fun for my kids! The tiger was awesome. He wasnt to happy the day we visited and he was growling at his displeasure. Most of the zoos I have been to the tigers are behind glass where you view them so getting to hear him was really cool.
We showed up when they opened on sunday. This little zoo was awesome. Free of charge and the people there feeding the animals very nice and informative. The animals were great and i suggest that you go meet Elvis.
Its free to get in but they have animals that will bite you and their water in their lake is extremely green and gross. Not much animals. Its always open on time. Not much cool animals so no reptiles or anything like that.
Even though the size of the zoo is small, the zoo itself is a fantastic zoo. It seems like the animals seem well taken care of as well.
Its completely free, quiet and clean. Spent a great hour or two with the kiddos enjoying the many animals! Even had quite a laugh from the old man inside!
The saddest zoo Ive ever seen. Many animals had no water, enclosures are tiny, and animals all looked depressed. Id give it zero stars if I could. Should probably be shut down
I hadnt been in the zoo for a few years, and the quality of the animals and facilities is outstanding! It felt good to see the zoo in this condition and the staff is friendlier than ever.
Very nice visit to the zoo. It was clean, animals have nice enclosures.
Saddest zoo ive ever been to. It is free so being really small was expected but some of the animals just looked depressed and the aviary had no water. The pond looked it had been dried up for days and it was almost 90 degrees out.
Its ok for being free. I feel like the enclosures are small, outdated and rather bare for the larger animals.
I put 3 stars becuase I dont know. Found the entrance locked at 10am. Sign says they were open so I called the number and person who answered said they should be open and he would call me right back. 45 min later someone came out and put a sign up that read, " closed for construction, will reopen soon" we are from out of town and need to head home so Im not sure if soon means a couple of hours, days or weeks. My morning was wasted. Im getting the hell out of Dodge. Thanks for nothing Dogue City
Not bad for a small zoo.nothing compared to Garden citys though
Great for a free will donation zoo. A variety of animals for the size! We had a blast. Youre a lot closers to them then a huge zoo.
Was very disappointed...the enclosures were small and dirty. The animals did not look happy at all.
