Wrens Hill Rd, Dudley DY1 3SB, Bloxwich
Former limestone quarry and important geological site, rich in fossils and wild flowers.
Beautiful place and beautiful scenery and natural beauty ,early morning walks with the dog 🐕 beautiful beautiful😍.
It has great scenery this is coming from a local go there if you want a nice view and history and rock climbing and a good place to play any ball games and of course a good place for photography and stargazing and most of the mountains and rocks have fossils of trilobites and overall a good place anyhow cya hope to see ya :)
Brilliant place to visit - ideal for runners who want to give their training a bit of a boost with the trails and up down terrain.Great for kids climbing the quarry rocks , hunting for fossils and running around in the trees.Great for walking the dog also.Surprisingly a large location for its position just off Birmingham new road
We walked round the red butterfly route. Not suitable if you have difficulty with steps as there are a lot during the route. Its like walking in the jungle on some parts of it. Took just under an hour. Well worth a trip. Free parking close to the Cave public house.
An excellent place for the locals to experience the nature. A bit far away from the town centre, so only recommended for tourists who have enough time to spend.
If you fancy a nice walk on a fine day this is definitely the place in the spring you can see the beautiful blue Bells of blue bell wood and taking in the views at the top of the hill is spectacular to top it all off you have to see the famous seven sisters Caves they really are magnificent a must for any walker
Basically full of primary school children who think they own everything but overall a nice experience if you go when kids are at school
Lots of interest if you are historian, geologist, paleoanthropologist, botanist, twitcher, photographer, or just enjoy walking about or lying on your back watching the sky... Its an oasis in an urban landscape... Enjoy 🙂
Lovely place for a walk lots of butterflies and great views at the top of Mons Hill. Weird to think of the underground caverns below where the canal boats go and where miners worked.
Ideal place to take grandchildren to. Lots of exciting places to explore
In my eyes if your building a lcg rig then its a great place for testing you rig with every upgrade you make to your rc crawler
One you get to the right area there are loads of fossils so you wont go home empty handed. It would be a great place for kids especially with a picnic on a hot day. Theres also a pub within walking distance.
Lovely walk. Incredibly clean and tidy. Great historic area.
Im glad I traveled to visit this place, it was interesting. We managed to find a few fossils. Now it says there is wheelchair access, however after taking my child in the pram, I found it very limited to what you could explore, which was rather disappointing, for this reason, I wouldnt revisit with a pushchair.
Kids loved it here and lots to find!
Nice walk, good for the cardio, but a bit rough on the knees due to the steepness. Plenty to see and information signs explaining all those fossils you vaguely remember from school. Car Park shuts at 3pm but afaikt is never open. 10am weekends was shut. You can also play "what flower is that" although Google lens does end the argument on sweet violets 😂
Beautiful walks, views & great fun searching for fossils, a lovely inner city hidden gem. The downside was no car parking (it was locked and only open until 3pmso parking in the housing estate Is the only option. It wasnt overly crowded though, so plenty of room on the grass verges. No facilities for drinks ect so take your own, deffo not pushchair friendly terrain although there is a small easy access walk. Lots of wildlife and birds, not too far from other attractions, zoo, black country museum, castle either! Worth a visit!
Extraordinary place but obviously must be a popular place for people to exercise their dogs off the lead as there were several running about when we were there. Granted, the owners did call them back when they ran too far but it was intimidating all the same. It meant we didnt stay around the central area where fossils might have been found and was the most interesting but instead we walked around some of the countryside paths. You can clearly see where the horizontal layers that used to be on the bottom of the ocean have been pushed up - some at a 45-degree angle. Amazing.
Beautiful walk, couldnt believe such a beautiful walk has been on my doorstep all this time.. mixed ability... Some steep steps on yellow path but loved the challenge. Not sure about the parking which was closed Saturday morning on wrens nest road 😭Great walk and history lesson too👌
Such a great spot for fossil hunting. So many beautiful shells and corals ALL over. Great spot for a kids day out and little walk. The views arent great but the fossils make up for that!! There are little mountains to climb up and then loose rock fall and fossils for those who dont like a scramble!
Went with some friends this Beautiful place is so lovely to walk around.
Lovely place to visit, great walks for all the family. Had a fantastic time with our "special family"
Fascinating sedimentary rocks with plenty of bedding planes exposed. The ripple beds are especially interesting and protected from climbing and sampling damage. Plenty of areas for kids (of all agesto explore and find fossils.
Great place to walk. Kids had fun searching for fossils, no luck this time... Means we will visit again.
Really interesting place to look around. You could easily spend several hours walking and fossil hunting. Great place to walk the dog. Car parking is free but limited to around 15 cars. Definitely worth a visit.
As urban green spaces go, this one is special. Its an international site of special scientific interest geosite, famous for its limestone features and fossils.
Good place to get the family out and moving. Loads of fossils to find and adventures to be had. The car park was closed when we went today but there is parking on the road so wasnt a problem for us
Beautiful nature reserve and definitely a hidden gem in the middle of Dudley. So glad I found Wrens Nest as the views, the lakes and different walking trails are brilliant. Really good for dog walking and scenic views. There are some steep steps and hills so be prepared for that especially in wet/snowy weather
Really enjoyed a few hours here in the Snow.(Although parking is difficult is snowy conditionswe had a great time though, amazing views and a lot to explore, we will be going back very soon.
great outdoor space with walking trails, fossil hunting. kids and dogs love it
Have been here a few times now. The kids love it. They dig and search for fossils. This is a lovely few hours out with the family. You need to sat nav it as you enter via housing estate. Its free and an educational visit.
Lovely place to spend a couple of hours with the kids, searching for fossils.
Well, we bought the house here because of the area, in particular Wrens Nest. So what can I say? Lovely!
Still a great place to walk the dogs, lots of different routes and paths to choose from. Also has been good for blackberries this year.
Really nice little nature site in the middle of quite an urban area. For some reason the council dont seem to want to open the car park, so people have to park on the roads and annoy the locals. The route around the edge of the site is about 3miles, but there are other routes crossing the site. Generally the paths are quite wide and well maintained, some steps up and down... Also there are some really shear rocky outcrops to climb and collect "fossils" (rocksfrom...Definitely worth a visit, can easily spend 4 hours there on a sunny day.
Lots of great views, opportunities to find fossils and interesting walking routes with a prescribed route for easy access. If you can go without a pushchair, my kids were in baby carriers and loved to fossil route and how the path changed as we went.
It is fantastic place to go for a walk, picnic, spent active time with kids
I enjoyed hunting fossils at The Wrens Nest geological site. Small brachiopods, chunks of coral, crinoid stems and sponges were plentiful and easy to find. I will definitely return the next time I travel to England!
Wonderful place. Some of its features are the Seven Sisters Caves, a 480 million year old sea bed on a cliff face, fossils, quarry, plenty of paths through woodlands and loads more I havent seen yet! Would highly recommend a visit.
Really nice walk, you wouldnt think you was in Dudley while there. The dog loves going up there. Only downfall was all the dog mess that people are too lazy to pick up after their dogs, shame those few scruffs have to ruin the walk for other people. Great for kids there if they are in to fossil hunting.
Beautifully kept local country park. Lovely views and historic. Seven sisters pits dug yesteryear. Fossils found freely at your leisure. Once a seabed thousands of years ago.
Great place for kidsLots of steep rocks, stepsLots of fossilsGreat viewsGreat wildlife around and rare treesAbit of a back breaker with a buggy if you dont know your way around due to many steep hills and stepsI also didnt come across one bin which was quite frustrating having to carry rubbish around for over 2 hours I ended up using the caves pub bin
Beutiful place .lovely seeing that nature is still thriving as us humans continue to destroy it.recomend you going ,there are plenty of places to eat and explore and nearly all the areas are children accessible and parking is open until 4pm.if you are planning on going there with a pet or with some food clean up / pick up anything you drop so that we can protect this gorgeous area for wildlife and future generations.overall amazing place to take a family for a day out ,nature surrounding you ,wildlife thriving and you making the most of your day.10 out of 10 .100 percent recomend anyone going there
Great place to go for a walk, very quiet. Fossils very easy to find!!! Only downside is there is a lot of dog poop around so watch your step!
Great place for walking, steeped in history. Also good for dog walking but there needs to be some poop bins as one of the paths into the reserve is absolutely disgusting, grass edges covered in dog poo!!!
This is a nice nature reserve with lots of fossils to be found. Great for children who are fossil enthusiasts. The nicer specimens are harder to find, as always.
Had a great day out here. We found fossils lots of fossils. Was amazing. My daughter was amazed. And the fossils under a magnifying glass was kool. It was clean too. No rubbish about. Was runners and hikers there too. Great for a geography lesson for home tutored kids.
Nice nature walk, with rich area of fossil hunting. Important site of scientific interest.
Nice place to visit. Good for a hike. Nice scenery. Not too far from the city center so a good alternative for a nice weekend walk.
Nice place to go for a walk/run. A few different routes to choose from depending on how fit you are feeling.Lots of signs and information boards telling you the history of the area. One drawback, only a small car park to park if you have travelled a distance to visit
