Wood Grill Buffet in Charlottesville

First time eating there. Everything was great! Ill be back!

Food was good.Attentive staff.I will return.

I have literally never had such a bad experience at a buffet. Half of what I put on my plate was impossible to choke down. I had a salad from the salad bar, some type of corn mash, fried chicken, a rib, brussel sprouts and a piece of steak. Only the fried chicken was decent, the steak was salty but okay, the rib was average, no amount of seasoning could fix the corn mash, I literally struggled to swallow the brussel sprouts and all the dressings at the salad bar where an assortment of evil sludge. Ive had better food in school cafeterias. I will never, ever go there again.

We had visited this restaurant before covid and this was the first time we have been able to go since the pandemic.If you have a food allergy, a buffet can be a risky visit. If you are a germ-a-phobe, dont go to a buffet.You can get food to go and pay by the pound.Lots of variety to chose from. You do get your moneys worth. Food is good, like home cooking. Problem is, not all of the buffet warmers are keeping the food at the right temperatures. Also the problem of missing food labels so you have no idea what some of the dishes are. Some items are room temp when you get them back to your seat. Some of the side dish items are cold when should be hot. Food is cooked fresh when brought out from the kitchen. It is not clearly labeled for traffic flow, where the gloves are, etc. There are rude people (other patronsthat have no respect or courtesy for others and they will block the areas where people are waiting to get to, let the kids run wild and terrorize parts of the buffet, etc.Be cautious with the sweet tea. It is super sweet, like diabetes in a glass. You may want to get it half sweet and half unsweet. The soda was not as sweet.Desserts was a big miss. They do serve ice cream which is ice milk for those that love it and have a hard time finding it. Its not soft serve, or the heavy cream based ice cream, or frozen yogurt. Its the good old ice milk. Nice toppings selection for it. The cakes, pies, cookies, etc, are a big miss. Too many cookies are left to sit out and not many people are bothering with them. Nothing is labeled to let you know what it is, so many are nervous to explore. Things are poorly cut for people to serve themselves and its a mess trying to get some of the pieces out of the containers. Many of the items lack flavor, were stale, too warm when it should be chilled, etc.If you remember the restaurants of old like Quincys, Ryans, Old Country Buffet, Fire Mountain Buffet, Golden Corral, etc., its just like those. Those familiar large rolls with the whipped honey butter.

Best buffet in the state! Always lots of delicious choices, hot and fresh.

Very nice impressive buffet. Clean and charming. Very attentive employees and a huge variety of delicious food items to choose from. A real winner in my opinion. Sure wont go away lacking for sure.

1st time ever eating at this buffet. We were treated very well from the moment we walked in the door from the cashier who seated us quickly. To our waitress who was unbelievably great shaylin I hope thats spelled right spelled right she is awesome awesome. Glasses were refilled napkins were laid on the table water was refilled information about the area about things that we needed to know while traveling . The food was over the top. No one was rushing you great display clean clean well organized buffet Ill organize buffet.. The customers were even friendly too I will definitely return I will definitely return when I visit here thank you for a nice experience post

Pretty good food for a buffet, and the price was not bad at all. The steak/ chicken was nice and juicy. Plenty of options to choose from so everyone should find something they like.

Stop over on our way to Williamsburg, this place was fantastic...the husbands are stilling giving us kudos for choosing this restaurant!

Omg what a great place to eat! When me and my wife visit charlottesville, we stop in. One of the best places for variety of food. Thier buffet is to die for.....One more praise is the waiters and waitresses. The are so nice and very prompt with your meal, sauces, drinks. Shout out to my Brazilian friend Gee n Carlos, I hope I got your name right. I probably did not, but wood grill knows who Im talking about, was told he has worked there since they opened. He is awesome.

I been here a couple of times on the 17th my husband and I came from Fredericksburg to eat the food was great and it was clean and the price was a good price for all you can eat everyone was friendly when Im up in Charlottesville again I will visit.

Absolutely my favorite place to eat in Charlottesville. Reasonably priced, excellent food, outstanding staff! The roasted brussel sprouts are the best Ive ever had 👍👍

It was fabulous as usual! Everything, n I do mean EVERYTHING, on the buffet is delicious n well worth the drive to get there! The servers are very pleasant n attentive! Sure wish there was a Wood Grill Buffet closer. Theres nothing around here that can compare 😩

If you like golden corral you would love this place. A lot of choices, clean, hot food, delicious. Will not be disappointed.

The food was the best I ever had at a buffet. It was hot and very tasty. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our server Giancarlo I believe his name was, was such a great guy. Definitely stopping back on our way home to NJ.

When we arrived there was no waiting and was seated immediately. Our waitress never let our glasses go empty. The restaurant and their bathroom was very clean. Only problem I had was that the grilled steak was tough and over cooked.

Waiter was amazing, food was perfect couldnt ask for a better experience definitely recommend 👌

For many this is just a feeding trough: lotsa good cheap! But seriously, this is really good food often featuring the kind of veggies and fruits and desserts you can’t find anywhere else. And steak and fish and chicken and…oh well. Just go and finish the sentence yourself.

Good food for the price. Good service. Would gave given 5 stars but the salad plates were hot...cooked my lettuce...lol

Buffet has a good selection, but the dining rooms are just disgusting!The tables, chairs, and floor seem like they have decades of grime caked into every crevice.On top of that, the chairs and table feel as though they’ll fall apart.Would not return if it was the last restaurant in the city.

Its like a better Golden Corral. You know how the food at GC is always dry, stale, or just plain? This place actually tastes good and has fresh food at the buffet line. Its just an overall better experience, so if youre thinking of going to GC, just dont and go here, it will be worth your time.

Over ate. The food was magnificent. I drove 3 hours to eat there from the 757. Well worth the trip.

Im not a huge of buffets, as the food is typically subpar. But the food here was pretty good.

Great food I personally loved their fish but everything was very good they where packed but it was well worth it and it didnt affect the service ether

Amazing food! Had the best meal Sunday evening. Everything was better then normal! Great experience except for the man at the table next to me, when I took my daughter to the restroom, a man put his dirty plate ontop of my clean silverware & it made me so angry I left immediately.

This is hands down my favorite place to eat. Been stopping in here for years whenever I come in town. This place dont have an off day.... always right on point! ( only points they missed were for the sodas, but thats what my friend said, I had water so I was good anyway 🤷🏾‍♂️ )

From Roanoke, VA our group went shopping to the Books-A-Million in Stuarts Draft, I googled a buffet eatery near by, I was directed to Wood Grill Buffet. We were a party of five, and our first time eating here. Our waiter was named Chris, he was very polite. We will put Woods on our pit stop when traveling on I-64 passing Charlottesville. Thanks

Place was amazing! I come to Wood Grill every time I visit the area, its well worth the 30 minutes from my Moms house. Food is fresh and more than enough options for my 4 daughters.

Food was fine but the place was a gross disaster! Food all over the floor, we were seated at a dirty table, forks and knives werent cleaned properly and the floor was too crowded for my service dog to comfortably lay down (plus she was laying in dropped food which was disgusting!A few workers seemed shocked to see a dog, which I understand, but werent the nicest in their reactions. Overall, I will not be coming back.

Not really a fan of buffets, but was invited by a friend. As busy as it looked, the wait time was short. Our waitress was very kind. The food was fresh, hot, and absolutely amazing! The buffet was full of choices from fried chicken, to meatloaf, to seafood. (they have chicken livers which won my approval!Awesome desserts as well. This experience has changed my mind on buffets, and I would recommend this place to anyone ... Definitely will be back, even though its over an hour from my house.

Meatloaf, Mac n cheese, broccoli casserole w/ gravy, mash potatoes, chicken pot pie, chicken, baked spaghetti, brush sprouts, wild rice & seasoned chicken! So Delicious! Nice waitress! Clean restaurant!

We all had the buffet with a lot of different things to choose from. It was on a Saturday afternoon before Mothers Day and very busy. The food was generally good with some exceptions. Price for adult is $16.99 for buffet with drinks at $2.50 for adults. I give it a 4 stars due to waitress was overwhelmed and so at times waiting for plates to be moved and drinks refilled.

I hadn’t been to a Wood Grill in probably 15 years and we went last night. Our server, Pat, was the sweetest guy. He was super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was good too! A little on the pricier side at around $15 per adult but our 3 year old got to eat for free so that was a bonus. It’s nice for kids too because they have plenty of options for them to eat!

Everything was great. Beginning with the being seated write away and the waiter was professional and very nice the food was good and hot and fresh. We really enjoyed everything. So keep up the good work.

Decent place. Hardly no wait. Food was pretty good in comparison to other buffets I have been to before, just wish there was a little bit more of a variety.

Very busy but the staff did a great job. Selection was amazing. Prices very reasonable. My only issue was the tables were very close together making it hard to walk around and the bathrooms didnt have enough stalls.

This buffet was better than a lot of buffets I have been to. The staff was very kind and helpful, a little slow on taking away plates but they were busy so its understandable. Some food was cold but others were absolutely delicious, like the fried chicken and sweet potatoes. Dessert bar was okay, and bathrooms were clean.

This is the third time that I have eaten here. The staff is always super friendly and the food is always fresh. This place has items on the buffet that you dont see often, like Brussels sprouts, corn pudding, potato salad and meatloaf. Their salad bar ingredients are tiptop, very appetizing. I cant say much about their desserts ,which look very tasty, but I have never saved enough room in my stomach for them. In fact I havent been able to try everything there that appeals to me because I can only eat about a plate and a half. I will go again the next time I am in Charlottesville.

Solid 4.2 stars! Clean, well displayed food items, good quality, good selection, and great service! Beats Golden Corral by a mile. I really liked the salad bar. Honey mustard dressing was legit with honey! Also, the fried chicken, fish and shrimp selection was good. Enough seafood selection to keep me satisfied. The items were just right and the price was reasonable. One point of improvement Id like to make to the management would be to clean/wash the broccoli better. There were some stuff in the broccoli that wasnt cleaned. Otherwise, great place for family dining and it will be my favorite place for sure.

Very clean and knowledgeable staff on safety during Covid. Well stocked bar of fresh, cooked, and bakery items. Our server Brandon was amazing!

Loved it. So nice. There were varieties of food options. Foods were warm and fresh. Besides you will get a delicious salad bar. Also complementary coffee and drinks.

This place even has a chocolate fountain. And for 10$ a head you couldnt find better. If the cheese cake isnt just coming out, dont eat it.No one likes warm cheese cake.

The waitress was awesome. She was super nice and excited to wait on us. The food was out of this world. Everything you could possibly want they have it here.

As far as buffets go, this one is pretty good. They have a large selection of salads, meats, vegetables and desserts. The variety will satisfy lots of different appetites, from healthy to picky to big appetites. The wait staff was friendly, the tables were kept clean and the food was well stocked.

My Mom loves this place so we try to go when were in the area meeting them for a weekend or something. The wait can be long but we have never had this issue, I would call first. Great Value and The Best buffet that this non buffet eating gal has ever been to.
