Gierłoż 5, 11-400 Gierłoż, Poland, Chernyakhovsk
Remains of Hitler's wartime base with shelters, barracks, 2 airfields, power station & rail station.
A long Journey to visit the Wolfs Lair. I post the nearest station, fantastic WW2 site and the bomb attempt to assassinate Hitler. So much to see and also Polish uprising Museum. Entry 20 Zloty (£4 look at pics
Most bunkers here were exploded by the SS in early 1945 but the historical significance of this location is hard to exaggerate
This place is must see. To see and understood the real fear and madness of Hitler. Recomendation - get a gide 😉
Definitely worth a visit and get the electronic guide for all the details!
Very interesting and informative place to visit I don’t regret visiting I also have bought myself some nice souvenirs and the tour was very good the old German weaponry was also very interesting to look at
Great place to visit if interested in WW2 history. Nice walk through history around the park.
Very interesting place to see, audio guide is excellent, lots to see and learn would definitely recommend
Absolutely fantastic trip, really well laid out, pathways are clear and clean, lots of information boards around. We had the information tape to walk around with, very cheap to hire. I would highly recommend a visit.
Loved everything there, there was an audio that was preatty cheap for the whole tour, loved it there
Great place, quite horrible history. Makes us thinking about war.
It is all in ruins, Germans blew most of the bunkers up. But definitely worth visiting.
Very beautiful place to visit, I recommend getting a bike or e-scooter, so you can visit bike trails 35km+ instead of 1.5k walking trail
Get a guide to yell you the facts. Very amazing place.
Place which have very interesting and important historical value. If you are looking for place which will reverse you and your family in WWII for several hours dont miss the oportunity.
Amazing place where you can feel a history and read about this terrible time.
Interesting place to visit as I knew very little about it before going. Definitely worth getting the audio guide as provides a lot of background
Very interesting place for all who is interested with second world war.
A place that you should visit. Recommended to visit without kids because its more of historical place so after a while kids will get bored. If you have a chance take audio guide 🙂
Was nice and big place to explore then they have a restaurant very children friendly place.Recommended for family.
Really interesting experience. You can rent a audio guide for 8 pln.
Anyone ineterested in history will be satisfied. Just take the regular or audio guide.
An example of German engineering, even they failed to break it! It is not that expensive, recommend the audio guide.
Wolfsschanze" was the codename of one of the Fuhrer headquarters in Europe and stood near Kętrzyn, in northeast Poland. Plans for the construction of this bunker complex was made in the autumn of 1940. About 2,000 persons worked and lived here in the period 1941-1944. The "Wolfsschanze" became famous because of the failed assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler at this place on 20 July 1944. The dictator was only slightly wounded.
Historically interesting place. A quiet walk takes 2 hours. Entrance per person 15zl. Parking directly on the premises. Possibility of snacks and souvenirs.
Very nice place to spent 2-3 hours. Bunkers are still impressive. Therebis a lot of space and path are well maintained
Special area for parking motorcycles at the gate. The are also lockers where you can leave your previous stuff and helmet. Just have 2 pln coin with you - will get it back. All bunkers are blown up.
Very interesting place. Has a lot of history. Recommendable to visit. Not necessary to buy a map but we didnt know so we bought. You have to pay entrance and parking.Good luck!
A place with a lot of history, make sure you visit this place with a guide! If you have a large group, you can afford the guide at reasonable price. Shows how Hitler has managed his work from this headquarters and how he has simply destroyed his bunkers once he got rid of this place.
Visited at the end of November. Construction being done all over the site, namely the inclusion of stone pathways around the park.
A place I have wanted to travel to for many years and I was not disappointed. A little hard to get here, train from Warsaw to Olzny and then a hire car, but totally worth it.Stay overnight on site at the hotel so that you can truly experience the eery silence of this place by yourself.
How interesting and educational to have walked here. It was amazing to see what evil did. It was also good to see how evil came to an end! I recommend going here if you can.
Amazing place, with English, Italian, French, German and polish guides for 2 hours of tourism. There is restaurant and wc inside, military stuff’s store, souvenir.Entrance: 15,00zl (4 euros). You are not required to enter with a guide. There is tourism with military cars for zone 3 of the park for a good price.
Important historic place, very well described so you can visit even without a guide. A bit disappointing you can’t actually walk inside the bunkers. Cheap entrance tickets. Beware of mosquitoes!
Monumental place full of history, guided excursion recommended.
Great piece of history. Its a major place of historic value. Huge area with lots of super massive bunkers that I had no idea about until now.
My favourite place to visit. Been here numerous times and still love it.
Id recommend it to everyone. Just a tip: get a guide. It doesnt cost much (80 zloties per group up to 10 peoplehowever you wont learn anything if you go on your own, as there isnt almost any explanation about the place.
It is the ruined site of Adolf Hitlers war-time headquarters from June 1941 to Jan 1945 during the WW II. There are ruins of about fifty bunkers and heavy structures that were built during that period over an area of around 7 square km in Masurian Lake region in Poland. The ruins are noteworthy to visit as many crucial decisions were taken here, and a major assassination attempt were carried out here to kill Adolf Hitler.
A very interesting place if you are historically interested.Hire a guide to show you around and tell you about the things, because else there is not much information around the bunkers.
An amazing piece of world history! An interesting but very sobering reminder of how degenerate humans were and unfortunately still are. Having said that it is worth going to see. My sister and I stayed in Ketrzyn at Pensjonat Tom...a nice place to stay😊. We caught the bus by the train station for about a 30 minute ride to the Wolfs lair. We had to call for a taxi to get back to town as by the time we were finished the busses had stopped running. So...if youare.in the northeastern part of Poland this place is a must see. We need to remember and learn a lesson or 2 from history.
Located in a beautiful Forrest the trail takes you past the ruins of Hitlers bunker and fortified buildings. They are slightly overgrown giving an extra erie vibe to the tour. Definitely recommend.
Interesting place to visit but theres close to zero information in English and only sparse information in Polish and German. Its probably worth it to get a guide. There is minimal reconstruction so you see the base in its demolished state, very much as the Germans left it. You cant go into the collapsed bunkers beyond their entrance. Its worth visiting for the sites importance if you are interested in WWII. This was the main residence of Hitler and his command for more than 3 years during the Eastern campaign and was the site of the assassination attempt. However dont expect to see much beyond empty, destroyed building and bunkers. Theres one display of weaponry and another of element from the Warsaw uprising, but thats about it for exhibits.
Despite that there are almost only a ruins here, its really nice and interesting place. Its a quiet forest and also historical site which makes it good to spend some time walking here. Just dont make a mistake like me: you should probably get a guide. Because I didnt, and theres not much information written there, so I probably missed a lot...
Very recommended visit, you will see SS military offices, Hitlers bunker and other different bunkers in the middle of the wood. Apart from the main part of the attraction I recommend to go to the other part of the bunkers, just in front as is wilder and is nobody there, looks more authentic. Very important, before you start I recommend you to do picture of the map of but the guide, otherwise you wont understand anything as there are no panels explaining what is each building, just the numbers.
Thought provoking emotive and massive! To think he had all theres hidden bunkers the size of a large military camp! While his people were starving. Absolutely worth visiting but buy a guide from the gift shop first!
Interesting historical sightseeing. Some of the bunkers one can see even from the inside. The place gets better every year. Mosquitoes feel here like home, which is very accurate, since something sinister and universally hated should reside in those gloomy woods after Hitler left
Excellent site and excursion for war history enthusiasts. Full-day guided tours from Gdansk. Drop off in the destination agreed beforehand.
So amazing. Would be great if the gov would try to preserve it somehow for more years to come. There is another place near there Mamerki. They have ALL perfectly preserved huge bunkers. Worth seeing. Just take a flash light and mosquito repellent :)
Watch for hazards in the building as well as the ground that you walk. There are metal bars, sharp rocks on the grounds, especially concerning during fall with leaves. Bring good shoes, be respectful and come to learn, so history is not repeated.
I can really recommend this place for anyone who is interested in history. However, its very important to have a trip with a guide to make this clumps of rock and concrete come to life.
