Wok-N-Roll - Buffet restaurant in Albert Lea, United States
Wok-N-Roll in Albert Lea
Description
Privilege
I do enjoy the snow shrimp and terimisu cake when coming here.
About as much flavor as a glass of tap water.
Pretty nice after the remodel. Food is good and more options since the remodel as well. The kids love it.
MoreFood was good. They kept food replenished even tho at the time we were there, there were only about 5 tables of people. Server took our money and was costantly talking loud on her cell phone and quite annoying. Never took dirty dishes off our table. If not for her I wouldve given a 4.
MoreFood was okay not very warm, I have eaten here before and food was excellent. But this time I could only rate this place as fair, because the food was not very warm.
MoreGood food choices, reasonably priced.
Awesome buffet and ice cream bar.
Nice big area for seating. Clean. Generous selection on the buffet. $16 per person for an evening meal on a Sunday.
MoreNice variety of items. Pretty delightful. Superman ice cream was amazing!
food is delicious, fresh, and good place. close to walmart and reason why we went in the 1st place but we will be going back.
MoreFabulous! We didn’t know they had a buffet and ordered on the phone. When we got there we saw their buffets and it looks incredibly delicious and large. Yum. Can not wait to return!!
MoreFood has gone down hill since It first opened it used to be my favorite as a kid now it seems as though they buy the cheapest food one can buy and sell it to us as a buffet. No bueno Ill be going else where.
MoreTrying new foods tonight with a couple gal pals. I was pleasantly surprised by the choices. I tried three different chicken dishes on top of plain rice. Poured some soy sauce over my plate and I was set. The place was halfway full and the staff were constantly bringing out food. One of my friends helped me pick out different foods to put in my husbands to go box to surprise him at home. Reasonably priced for the delicious food and already planning on coming back.
MoreGood food...But they served a person and let him eat with no face mask! He also did not wear gloves while getting his food. I guess wok n roll is saying money is more important than protecting each other during a global pandemic! This was on Monday January 11, 2021. Updated 6/28/22. Food is not worth 16.75 a person at night. Food was not labeled properly, which is a big deal to my fiancée and I cause we dont like spicy food. Horrible at busing tables. Not worth the money.
MoreNot a fan of buffet to begin with. Wife was craving. Unimpressed and underwhelmed. They did have the smallest craw fish I ever saw in a boil so that was cute. There are better options in the area.
MoreGot there at 740 pm they close at 9, all the food was well done over cooked dry and nasty, can honestly say Ive never been so upset with a buffet as I was tonight. If your open until 9 your trough should be fresh and full. I wont be returning anytime soon
More6pm. Food was like super old. Cold not good. $16+ dollars for nasty cold food. 1st and last visit
MoreAbsolutely terrible. My mother and myself arrived at approx 3:30 pm which is considered start of dinner at 4pm. This is my 2nd time within a span of >6 months. They used to years ago be wonderful BUT NOW, you pay first, its self serve on drinks, prices from 11.00 last time to now 16.00 and to make it worse, the food was STONE COLD TO BARELY TEPID on all 3 steam tables. At 16.00 per person and cold Chinese, no thanks. I did express my concern to the cashier and she seemed unaffected by it.I noticed this time they had big TV s on the wall. People will come back if the food is HOT, by putting up tvs you encourage people to stay longer, whats up with that. Whoever heard of a Chinese sports restaurant????It seemed to me they turned down the steam tables till dinner. I did not stay till the dinner crowd came if they did, but with seafood on those tables, someone is going to become ill from food not at proper temperature.I wont be returning till a new business goes in.I suggest someone make it a Mexican sports bar/restaurant.The hispanic community makes wonderful hot and tasty dishes. They actually take pride in their businesses.
MoreI am local and use to visit the restaurant often. It had good food, nice staff the works. That went to the way side and my last visit before the remodel was a 0 out of 5, cold food in the buffet and dirty. My last visit was nice, good remodel some of the food was still either had been in there a little to long or was put out a little to quick. But all around fresh when you went up. If you like Chinese give it a try. Its Pay before you eat, self service drink.
MoreWokd in Wokd out. Open a window or something. It was so steamy and thick a. Smelled like the fish tank was bad or something going on. I immediately told my friend, "I cant take the smell dude" . He said "its fine" then thirty seconds later he walked out. We were both starving but now we are driving to Austin. Fingers crossed .
MorePre pay. Just to give heads up. Desserts not fresh. Fries cold. But loved the main courses I was eating.Buffett only
MoreThis place used to be my favorite place to eat but now I live further away and never get there
MoreFood is good. Not thrilled about the selection as a whole but that is just me. I do enjoy the scoopable ice cream for dessert. Recently touched up the place which is nice.
MoreUpdated 3-26-22Food and service are much better now. They have made a lot of upgrades and changes. They did raise the price as well, to match. Dinner price was about $17 for an adult which I feel is too much.Service was awful, the servers were all standing around blowing their noses and not washing their hands. Came and got our glasses for a refill with a bunch of dirty glasses. Food was ok though
MoreThe food was delicious! Lots of options on the buffet. Beautiful and newly remodeled. One of our favorite restaurants.
MoreThe food was cold, the chicken was dry, buffet wasn’t clean, and the customer service was terrible. I do not see myself coming back till their employees greet you when you walk in.
MoreFast and quick. Hasn’t tasted the food yet. It was a take out. The cashier was very nice
MoreMany buffets have decreased their overall selection of cuisine over the past year or two. Wok-N-Roll still has the full selection.
MoreIt sure isnt what it used to be! Not impressed at all. This place used to be really good and we stopped in today after not being there for a few years and was not thst good at all..
MoreBetter quality in food now then what they had years before. The renovation came out excellent. Will go back again soon
MoreFood quality and choice is so much better since they reopened. Love the sushi option on the buffet now. Tasty and fresh.
MoreWent today, paid $68 for two adults and 3 kids. All 6 stacks of plates I attempted to grab from were all greasy with chunks of food stuck on them. The deserts were dry and nasty and the food was not fresh… except the wontons.
MoreDISGUSTINGLY UNSANITARYBathrooms doors and light switched were filthy and black and sticky. "Clean" Plates had grease and food stuck in between them. Tables were gross.looked like theyd been wiped down with a grease rag. The whole restaurant was very dirty. Cant imagine how sanitary the food and cooking conditions were.Never Again!Got refunded and left
MoreIt was disgustingly dirty! The white rice steamer was just filthy and the serving utensil was supposed to be white and was browned, stained and just nasty. There were fruit fly gnats swarming all over the mandarin oranges and fruit salad. We arrived 15 minutes after they opened and the floors looked like they hadnt been vacuumed for a week. We will NEVER go back there. GROSS and very unsanitary.
MoreVery wide variety of dishes. Had a good selection of seafood dishes, even for lunch. There were a lot chicken dishes, with only one, a spicy chicken, that was very delicious and made it stand out above the rest. Ate too much, so didnt have room for one of about 8 mins of ice cream for dessert.
MoreThe selection was fantastic, (especially for the price paidand the staff was polite and efficient.Would give 5 stars, but the atmosphere was almost non-existent, and the mens restroom needed service. Will definitely return.
MoreAbsolutely fantastic! Staff is friendly, food is always fresh. The BEST buffet in town. If you have never been to this fine establishment your life is left empty and I’m surprised you haven’t slipped into a deep dark depression. This is where you will find total enlightenment. Between every crispy chewy egg roll is pure love and joy.
MoreIm disappointed. I used to come here quite often the last two times have not been the same. One of the islands is not operational despite being busy at supper time during both visits. They stopped serving sushi. No steamed dumplings. Rice noodles were dried out for the most part. What Im getting at is this used to be a standout Asian buffet now its just like the rest of them. Serving the same food from the same asianfoodgrocer vendor
MoreI am happy to have such place as an option in small town Albert lea. I would hope in the future they would change up the buffet options an rotate in food items to try instead of being the same everytime an possibly make a food special on weekends. Thanks Wok-N-Roll.
MoreI got take out and the food had little taste. The egg rolls were only two inches long and were just cabbage. They gave sugar buns with little to no sugar. I was also allergic to all the fried food except the fried wonton strips. I have a peanut allergy and I assume they used peanut oil to fry their food. No where on the site did it say the food contained allergens. They really need to make sure people know whats in the food especially since peanut oil is commonly used to fry American Chinese food. Theyre lucky that I dont have really bad allergy. Two stars, do not recommend.
MoreRestrooms are absolutely disgusting. If thats how they keep their bathrooms I can only imagine how bad the kitchen is!Food is decent, a little short on seafood selection, but price is very low.One start because of the worst restroom Ive seen in years!
MoreMy family has frequented Wok ‘n Roll since they opened well over a decade ago. We miss the old owners who kept the restaurant impeccable and ensured top quality food. Yesterday evening we got takeout and were not pleased. I am awarding the restaurant three stars only because of the exceptional Salt and Pepper Shrimp, which is also on the buffet each evening. We ordered several dishes which included chicken, and I must comment on the off-putting texture of this meat. While the dishes appeared to contain large slices of chicken breast, the slices were apparently over-processed spongy chicken-like —. Your guess is as good as ours when it comes to the mystery “meat” in our meal. Worse yet, some of the -ahem- chicken had imbedded inedible gristle and cartilage. Ugh! It completely ruined my meal. 😕My recommendation is to eat in the restaurant in order to send back any inedible food!
MoreWe were pleasantly surprised. We went at around 5:30pm and the food was fresh, hot, and slightly above expectations for a standard buffet. My favorite was the Jalapeno Chicken. My wife liked it as well. They did have a variety of chicken, also included were General Tso and Sesame.Overall I give it 4 stars as the fish aquarium near the entrance made the place a bit stinky, staff was decent but not great, and the beverage was not included. Good value for under $11/person.
MoreTerrible. Seats are very wore out and uncomfortable. I had to ask 3 different staff for a highchair while I struggled to hold my toddler on my lap waiting for the highchair. The highchair was so nasty dirty like itd never been wiped down. Bathrooms were disgustingly dirty. Food was terrible. It was about 5 PM when we went. At that time youd expect fresh food be ready for people to have supper. Nope, it was all dried out and seemed to have been sitting there way too long. This place used to be decent. Its not worth your money or time.
More3.5 to 4.0 stars. If you go right between 11AM and Noon when everything is fresh, youll be greeted with a nice selection of items including fried fish with tartar sauce and a number of other items including ribs, many of which you dont see on smaller buffets. A quick and pain free trip from the interstate, not having to go deep into Albert Lea at all to get to it is kind of nice. There are a few items that are fairly unique and quite good. However, my impression of the buffet as a whole is that the chicken selections were average to below average which dragged down my total score. Two of my favorite places to eat chinese are closer to where I live. They both have honey chicken, peanut chicken, and a much better tasting general tsos... the chicken selections at this place were similar tasting and the variety was lacking compared to my favorites. My suggestion to them... add honey and peanut chicken (and ginger chicken if you can make itto the buffet and toss something trivial like the french fries... that combined with eating between 11AM and Noon should net a 4.5 star experience. If youre heading west on I-90 and are passing by Brandon, SD consider giving the buffet there a try.. the chicken selections are top notch.
MoreIve eaten lunch here twice. The food is kept fresh and at an appropriate temperature. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The only reason Im rating this buffet as 2 stars is because most of the food options are either extremely sauce-laden and/or battered and fried. I can usually get a pretty good variety to eat at a Chinese restaurant buffet for my Keto way of eating, but not here. What I can eat tastes good though.
MoreWok-N-Roll has been my go to Chinese place for years now. I am stunned that I have not given it a review, but today is the day. The staff are very friendly, the food is great, and the atmosphere is exactly what you need it to be. There is a huge selection of food, but my absolute favorite is something called Golden Corn. It is this delicious salty/cheesy mix of ham, corn, and cheese. It is the reason I stop anytime I am passing through Albert Lea. I highly recommend this place and you wont be disappointed.
MoreAfter reading previous reviews I was skeptical, but I really wanted some egg drop soup. The restaurant was clean, the wait staff were nice, and the buffet stocked. The food had good/average buffet taste, quality was good, not dry or greasy. We will definitely stop here again on our way through Albert Lea. (We’ve had Chinese all over both coasts and everywhere in between, many we will never go back to. This restaurant was a relief compared to the prior reviews.)
MoreFood is normally always good. Sometimes it takes awhile to get some of the food items refilled though. I do like this place except if everyone orders water at your table. They normally grab all the cups and fill them away from the table. Which wouldnt be a big deal but there has been multiple times you can tell from the cup that you did not get the right one back.
MoreWe usually go here once a month and weve never been disappointed! We think the food gets better and better all the time. Selection is fantastic- with three buffets of hot food and one of cold food & desserts- and the service is exceptional. Just as with any buffet, the best times to go are closest to the lunch and supper hours. The choices of hard serve ice cream are a nice deviation from the usual soft serve.
